We attended Firenze's grand re-opening of their new concept last night, keeping an open mind as we have loved the old Firenze for decades. We immediately noticed the extreme simplification of the menu; Firenze's four-page menu, containing all of the beloved Italian dishes has been reduced to a one-page, bare-bones offering... with every item changed to a la carte. It's easy to figure out what happened; the owners of Firenze brought Gordon Ramsey in thinking he would magically transform their restaurant into a new, trendy, high-end destination with a menu that would appeal to the new, trendy, Tic-Tok generation. Unfortunately, the demographic in South-Warren isn't going to bite. What made Firenze so popular in the area was its old-fashioned charm, and all-inclusive meals at a reasonable price-point. Firenze's nostalgic appeal and affordability has been obliterated for a slick, glossy concept created by a multi-millionaire who is completely unfamiliar with this Southeast Michigan neighborhood and the sensibilities of those who live in it. Bottom line; the food was good, not great, and definitely not worth the total. Two of us ordered a pasta dish, and a chopped salad. Our bill with tip came to $75.00. Firenze missed the mark, and completely forgot their longtime patrons who loved their restaurant as it was. I wish you success, but we won't be back. read more

So here's the thing about Firenze's restaurant. You're going to walk in there and think you took a trip in a Time Machine to the 1970s. Decor is dark and dated. You need to look past all of that and start with the bread basket. Yes, you can get refills as you look at the menu. Get one of the baked pastas.. It will come hot and cheesy and it will burn your tongue. If you try to eat it too soon. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and there's a little spot in the back or off to the side if you have a bigger party. The prices are reasonable, the wait staff is friendly, and the whole experience will be like you've gone back in time to a simpler place for great food. read more

Firenze Restaurant is a true old school, Italian staple. This is the place that you come in as a guest and leave as family! Friendly service, huge portions, and very reasonable prices for exceptional quality! The crispy eggplant is my favorite, and is served with the aesthetic of bubbling, baked cheese! Their antipasto salad is a great refreshing salad, and is loaded with meat and cheese! I'm not usually an Alfredo-type gal, but Firenze's is heavenly. The cream sauce just melts in your mouth and makes excellent leftovers. The meatballs are Their chicken pastina soup is the best around. It can be 90 degrees and I'll still crave it There are a ton of closer places for me to get soup when I'm sick, but if I can, I will go out of my way to get a quart of theirs... and of course a couple cannolis PS- Hands down best cannoli (better than straight from Italy ) read more

We recently discovered this place and kind of bummed we haven't heard of it sooner. The restaurant itself is a typical classic italian restaurant. You can tell they have been here for years but nothing is drab or old feeling. The bread and butter they serve before your meal was delicious. I could have eating two baskets. I ordered the baked mostaccioli for my entree, as it seems like the only place around that makes this. The meat sauce was fantastic and the cheese on top was delicious. My only mild complaint is that while the cheese was completely melted, I would have preferred more color (those delicious, almost crunchy brown bits), but otherwise fantastic. Here's the thing: Firenze's WAS always our place for celebration dinners (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) or for a place to stop and eat when we were on the east side (we used to live in Warren). It WAS one of our favorite stops! The service was always good. The food was always good. The place just had a nice upgrade in the lobby a few years back. Key word here is "WAS". The revamped menu is a huge downgrade -- one that does not have mostaccioli, pizza, ribs, or anything my family would want. Of course, Gordon probably refreshed the lobby and got them some new equipment and all, but changing the menu has made me and my famiglia lose interest in going back to that restaurant. read more

After living in the area for many years and the restaurant celebrating their 60th anniversary, my wife and I decided we should finally go in and see for ourselves. Yes, the decor is dated, but it is clean and neat. We started out with the bread, the bread was delicious. Some of the best we've had in an Italian restaurant. We had our Caesar salads, which the Caesar dressing was very good. Shortly, our main course came out. My wife had the salmon and vegetables, I had the veal scallopini with a side of mostaccioli. All of the food was delicious, like eating it in a good friends Italian grandmother's basement. It's not fancy food, it's delicious food. We finished the meal with a piece of lemon cake and a cannoli. Again, delicious. We decided to bring mostaccioli home for my son, lasagna for my wife and spaghetti for me to eat the next day. Kayleigh, our great waitress was helpful with the menu and making sure we always had what we needed. This will be a place we go to when we want comfort food. Well done! read more

Absolutely CRUSHED that this place is closed. I grew up in MI and we had so many family meals here. I live in LA now, but every time I came home, I'd hit up my aunt and cousins to go to Firenze's. The atmosphere was nothing to brag about, but that was fine. It was clean and held a homey, familiar feeling. The food? PHENOMENAL. Fresh, delicious, and good serving sizes. The baked cheese on top was always amazing. The prices were great. When my sister-in-law told me Gordon Ramsey was there, I told her to get him out immediately because we didn't need that energy at Firenze's. So sad to see this one go. read more

My rating of Firenze is complex. The service was excellent, friendly and fast, but the rest was rather mediocre. The food is basically "eats" quality. Nothing bad, but nothing you'd remember after you left. The parmesan cheese as well as the dressings were in little plastic cups, which had more of a "take out" feel than a sit down restaurant. The decor was straight out of the 1970s, but it was clean and well maintained. Yet, the wooden paneling and the subdued lighting, gave it that dingy out of date feel. On a positive note, the prices were very reasonable, and we walked out with a nice meal at a good price. Although the food was not impressive and the decor could use some updating the quality service and the reasonable price have earned it a 4 star rating. read more

WOW! Excellent value and experience! Can't wait to come back! A relative suggested Firenze as a mutually convenient location for a family dinner. The Yelp reviews were really good so I was anxious to try it out. I saw the pics online so I knew it was going to feel like a more relaxed and homey atmosphere. And that is what we saw when we arrived. Reminds me of an old Italian restaurant I worked at in the 80s while in school. This place was hopping at 2pm on a Sunday but the waitress, Tracey, was attentive and helpful. She kept our beverages filled and brought what seemed like endless baskets of bread. I ordered Chicken Firenze - it came with Amogio sauce, which is a heavenly mix of tomatoes, garlic and cilantro. It looked rather plain (see pic) but it's very flavorful. And it was cooked to crispy perfection, while maintaining its juiciness. I was thrilled to eat the leftovers the next day. I can't wait to come back and explore the menu further! read more

Let me start my Dad has live here since 1955 right off 10 mile. I've always wondered why I haven't ate here until now. The parking lot it always full. Im a picky person and it's hard to find quality food around here. Long and behold it's been right next door to my Dad's for all these years.. over the years I take to notice how well they keep up the parking lot. Every detail of the building is cleaned and has been so well maintained for years. So that told me they must keep the kitchen the same. I decided to give this place a try. I am so happy I did!! Every bite exceeds my expectations. Hidden Jem .. underrated..All the clichés. The food honestly hasn't tasted this good since my Mom passed away in 2008. Makes me wonder who created the menu and most importantly the recipes. I ordered the fish. I'm a big fried fish lover. This is on my top five list. #1 !! Crispy, delicious and juicy! I chose to get the mashed potatoes. Definitely made from scratch. Nice and smooth fresh and creamy. The side salads are so simple.. cold crispy and fresh. The house ranch is to die for. My boys got the chicken from the kid menu served with the best fries ever! Lastly I ordered the chicken noodle soup!. I definitely discovered where I'll be getting my chicken noodle soup from every single time. Very polite service. I requested the box my fish was placed in, to be left opened until I pick up so the fish doesn't get soggy from the steam. She was happy to do so. Most places say yes but when I get there they have closed. Then when I would try to explain why the fish will now be soggy I would be looked at like I was crazy. Great establishment all around! Inside it is very nostalgic and clean! I have been here many times, I would recommend the chicken parm and the chicken noodle soup. Oily fried fish. They have cut the family meals on size. The sides are only for two people in the family bucket of 8. So tiny sides, for two people not a family. 4 oz of coleslaw x2 for family. Lol. They stated they give 4 prices of fish per person, so the family meal is actually only for two people. So what does family mean? Only got two rolls for family meal too. You use to be good, and used to have great service. We will move on. Learned our lesson. All of the Family meals have only two side, and that are all tiny sides. Not family. This was our last night in Detroit and I so wanted a fabulous Michigan pizza before heading home to SoCal. Some people rated this place highly, while others did not. We should have listened to the bad ratings. The photos on their website look absolutely nothing like the pizzas we received (see my photos). There were almost NO toppings whatsoever. I scraped everything off the entire pizza, put it on one slice, and had a very dry, but barely normal piece of pizza. The crust was lousy, dry, and tough with no traditional flavor (is there any semolina and yeast in this thing?). The sauce was good...what little I could scape off. The cheese was so thin and overcooked that it was just flavorless rubber. The veggies were the best thing. Heartbroken that I chose this for our last meal in a generally great town for foodies. Firenze is an Italian Classic! We have been eating here for the past 30 years and are never disappointed. The chicken Parmesan is a must try...with yummy melted cheese, served in a tin pan which creates a perfectly cooked dish! They have the best chicken soup and homemade ranch dressing. We also enjoy their pasta dishes, pizza, fish and ribs are all outstanding! End your meal with home made cannolis! This restaurant is a local favorite...give it a try! This is one of my go to spots! The food isn't the best Italian food I've ever had but it's always consistent and yummy! My favorite thing to order is their chicken noodle soup. My in laws took my family here for dinner. Honestly i was a little suspect of the place given the location...BUT i will definitely be back. I know a few people who love this place and I can't figure out why. The best part of my meal was the bread. BREAD. This is my second time here and I had the lasagna. It was watery and by the time I got through all the cheese it was just boring. It was assembled to order. So it isn't a pan of lasagna that they are cutting you a slice from. They layer everything in the dish and melt a bunch of cheese on top. Service was just meh. The people I know who like this place said "You get a lot of food for the money!". Well, what good is paying a little for a lot of food if the food is subpar? I'd rate pay $3 more and get a quality meal. read more

Visited for dinner for the first time and I was a little let down. The interior is a bit dated, but clean; looks like a typical family restaurant with cheap booths and tables strewn about on top of run down carpet. Doesn't strike me as an Italian restaurant. Our server was OK, but a bit inattentive. I shouldn't have to flag you down for something when our table for four has a ton of empty glassware hanging off of the edge; that's your cue to ask if we need re-fills. Each person on this night had something different, but three of the four were pasta dishes and they all looked identical. They just prepare some pasta, throw it in a metal serving dish, mound it with cheese and bake it. All of the pasta dishes were indistinguishable. Nothing was bad, but it was just this side of mediocre. The quality of the food was "OK", but everything just felt cheap because they melt cheese on EVERYTHING. The food had no personality. I've had way better, but not much worse. For a barometer, Olive Garden is probably the largest Italian chain in the US and I'd say Firenze is a bit below their quality at best. read more

The food was delicious. Portions are large was the average entry being about 15 dollars. Salads were fresh and potato soup was probably the best I've ever tasted. It was disappointing that they did not have tiramisu as a dessert option. Since they were eight of us, a 20% gratuity was added to our bill. Service was spot on, but we were not informed of the added charge until the bill was presented. At 4:00 on a Saturday afternoon, the place was crowded! It was noisy and difficult to hear. I haven't eaten inside Firenze since I was five years old, and of course I barely remember that. But what I do remember is ordering carryout with my dad and going to pick it up throughout my childhood. We'd always get the family fish meal with fries and coleslaw or the bucket of mostaccioli. I was craving a taste of my childhood so I took my partner all the way here to eat and it did not disappoint. We ordered fried mushrooms as an appetizer and they were served with ranch (our choice) and cocktail sauce (an interesting new combination to have with mushrooms that I didn't realize would be amazing). The side salads weren't that great because the tomato slice and cucumbers were sliced almost an inch thick so I didn't dare eat them, but the house Italian dressing doesn't disappoint. For entrees, my partner ordered the chicken scallopini and it was probably the best thing we ordered that night. It wasn't like usual chicken scallopini, it was red sauce with lots of onions and peppers (maybe meat too, not sure.) I got the mostaccioli which has always been my favorite but it was a little dry and needed a bit more sauce but tasted just like it always has. Overall I still give the place 5/5 stars! read more

I just got carryout this time, I got the Firenze platter which is gnocchi and ravioli. It is very good and I do recommend it. I prefer to eat in there, which is a nice retro atmosphere, but I was just in the carryout mood. Anyway, if you get the Firenze platter, you won't be disappointed.
