    Dinner Pasta Pollo Divano
    Melanie M.

Packed for lunch on a Thursday - literally no parking spots available. Sat at the bar and the waitress was very attentive. The Pasta Pollo Divano is delicious with creamy sauce, mushrooms and chicken. My favorite is the salad with creamy ramono dressing and the bread with olive oil. Quaint seating with some holiday decor.

Amazing Italian food. Be prepared for leftovers! We've come here a bunch of times (before and after the Salvatore in downtown Birmingham changed) to get various different Italian dishes. I usually get the same thing of the Chicken Pollo (pretty much chicken alfredo) but my wife has gotten a few different things on top of the Pollo, including ravioli and chicken parmesan. The Minestrone soup though, is something that we've not been able to find anywhere else. A thick, chowder-like soup packed with vegetables. Service is always really speedy, we receive plenty of bread throughout, and the wine select pairs really well with the dishes we've had. Salvatore is a great Italian restaurant that provides some really great service!

disappointed--haven't been here in years--we always had fond memories of the place--decided to stop today--place is pretty--food is good--prices are fair--problem was we had a surly waitress--never smiled or said hello or thank you--going out to us means a 'happy time'--guess we will try their other locations in the future......

So I have to say that driving to this place makes you feel like you're in the wrong area but it's…read moreexactly where it says it is. The inside of this place looks amazing and the outside patio is even nicer, this is a very romantic looking restaurant. We went here for my wife's birthday and thought I would treat her to a nice restaurant for dinner and that's exactly what it was. Now the way their ordering process goes is a little confusing, I don't know if it was our waitress or it's just how things go but we ordered our drinks and then after they came Out with our drinks then they asked if we wanted an appetizer then after that came out they asked if we wanted a meal, so like I said I don't know if that's how they do it or it was just our waitress. So we ordered our drinks and I had a Smoked Old Fashioned, anywhere I go if I see that cocktail on the menu I order it, when it came out they had the smoke infuser on it and when they took it off the smoke just bellowed out, it tasted amazing, I have to say that it was a really good old fashioned. For an appetizer I had the Caesar Salad which tasted fresh, crunchy and just refreshing, the cheese was delicious and the dressing was really good. Next I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken added and it was very delicious, the noodles were soft, the chicken was delectable and the sauce was very flavorful. Everything from the ambience to the food here was flawless with the exception of some older gentleman that didn't stop talking the WHOLE time we were there, nothing we could do about that but everything was perfect and I would love to come back and try other meals. So a few things to point out is they offer valet parking for $12, they offer brunch & Breakfast every Saturday & Sunday and on the bill they add Gratuity (20%) on there already just so you know before heading there, most people freak out about not knowing this and I am here to tell you it is added, however, the food was worth every bit of it.

We were there for a special occasion (I added that to the reservation note); not the biggest deal, but we weren't asked about that at all. The drinks were decent, but not the best, and the same was true for the food. Some dishes were pretty good, including my husband's chicken parmesan, but others could have been better. We also tried the crème brûlée cheesecake for dessert, which was pretty good, but the brûlée top was gummy rather than crackable. Additionally, the plates themselves were somewhat hard to eat from as aesthetics seemed to come before functionality. No spoons set with the flatware, either, which should be standard for an Italian restaurant. The atmosphere was good, and server was friendly, but service was a bit spotty for a relatively slow night. However, food and drinks arrived quickly. Our water glasses were not ever topped off, and when the busser did come by, the wrong plates were taken away; bread and oil were removed and our dirty/empty dishes left behind at the table. So, it was decent, but not quite the fine dining experience it purports to be. Hopefully it will get there, because it is a cool spot.

First, the place is so welcoming. Several different rooms as well as the outside patio, which has bocce ball. It was too warm & humid for us, so we sat inside at a table near the bar. The servers were all very friendly; it seemed a different person brought each course. We had the bread service and calamari for an appetizer. The bread and herb butter were very good, and I understand that it does cost the restaurant to serve it, but $7 seemed like a lot to me. I also enjoyed the calamari. I had the pasta Bolognese (they had some other name for it), which is one of my favorite kinds of pasta. This did not disappoint. I loved the super wide papardelle noodles (also a favorite!) and the small scoop of cheese (burrata, maybe?) on top. My sister had the mushroom pizza (also with a different name). She enjoyed it as well. I am glad they decided to take us there; it was all very good and in a nice atmosphere as well.

Great food and fantastic service…read more Did the tasting menu. The starters were good but not mind blowing. I enjoyed the carbonara but the stand outs were the ARAGOSTA FRA DIAVOLO and the scollop/lamb chop which all blew me away. Came here to celebrate my cousin's graduation and the whole experience was pitch perfect!…read more Our table of 7 split a number of different starters which were all excellent. We did two orders each of the focaccia (the whipped gorgonzola served with it was SO good), the farinata (the chickpea pancake), the artichokes, and the asparagus. My mom and I also decided to order separate pasta dishes and split them, I went with the carbonara and she went with the stuffed shells (conchiglie alla norcina). Hands down my favorites were the artichokes and the asparagus. So fresh and flavorful! The stuffed shells were also quite good and quite a hearty portion. Admittedly my least favorite dish was my carbonara. It was very pepper forward which I'm not super crazy about. I anticipated that given the base is their cacio e pepe but I was curious to try it as the chef intended but for me it was a bit too much. It was still very good, but next time I'd ask them to go a little easy on those extra pepper grings to match my personal palate a little better. For dessert we split the dark chocolate gelato and it was so good and VERY rich. Perfect for splitting. Our server (whose name I forgot which is a bummer) was so great! She explained she was in training and to forgive any mistakes but there were none! She knocked it out of the park. My cousin (the celebrant) also has several nut allergies and they were incredibly accommodating and checked in with us regularly to make sure everything was good for her. They also offered little touches for celebrations which were quite nice and made us happy we selected them for the special occasion. They sweetly added some congrats messaging to my cousin on her dessert, gave her a greeting card signed by the whole staff, and a bag of their milled flour for pancakes as a little parting gift. She felt very spoiled and it was very sweet! Overall, it was an incredible experience. Looking forward to my next visit already! Especially when celebrating a special occasion!

At $44 each for adults and a shockingly good deal of $14 per kid under 12 (we had two of them) it was a pricey dinner but we are still eating off it days later. We had the two salads. The Maggiano house salad was the better of the two. The Caesar was just ok. Then we had the calamari which was quite good with lemon juice just a little less so with their marinara. The tomato bruschetta was also good. Our lineup of 4 entrees included lasagna which was unremarkable and could have been hotter. We also had chicken piccatra which was perfect and among the best parts of the meal. The beef medallions with mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and crispy onions was also a standout. The balsamic cream sauce on that was delicious. The rigatoni ala vodka was also well received by all. Finally, the dessert included lemon cookies (okay), tiramisu (good), chocolate cake (mixed reviews but I liked it), and cheesecake with sauce and strawberries (also quite good). My wife and I had a nice Riesling and Margarita respectively. Our service was very kind but the meal took a long time. I left painfully full with four bags of leftovers! I give it a 4.4 rounding down to 4 (sorry). It was a really good meal and we joked about making it a NY day tradition.
