Christmas for Courtney came in September, folks! The NUMBER ONE priority (of mine, ahem...) upon moving into my new home, was to get the fireplace... "DONE". We are so glad we found you. When we bought our new-to-us home, we discovered that the fireplace grate was missing. Unfortunately that model was discontinued and no parts are available. According to the fireplace representative from Heat and Glo, it necessitates taking out the fireplace insert and redoing the entire fireplace (including tearing out the current tile surround) to accommodate a new model. We were quoted nearly $5K, not counting what it would cost to re-do the fireplace surround. We looked for an alternative and contacted Fireplace Fix. Deborah whose communications with us is topnotch, suggested that Mariah come and check it out. He did, and thought maybe he can have a new grate made but that's a long shot. Deborah asked if we would consider fire glass. We didn't even think of that as an option. What a terrific idea! So Mariah modified our gas fireplace. And before doing that, he even cleaned it out as well as the glass plate. He made sure that the modification included a very visible indication showing the pilot light. He also fixed the cover plate that kept coming off. We chose smooth "diamond-shaped" fire glass and are quite happy with the final effect. The fireplace emits the right amount of heat. And changing over to the fire glass transformed the fireplace from something traditional (albeit with fake logs) to contemporary. We're extremely happy with the cheerful and prompt communications and the exceptional work...and also very happy for the suggestion that turned out to be the best and least expensive solution. I contacted Fireplace Fix in December 2022, because my fireplace was having difficulties turning on and staying on. The fireplace would take several flicks of the switch to finally turn on, but then would only stay on from anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours, and then shut off. Previous winters there were no issues with getting the fireplace to turn on and stay on all day long. So I definitely wanted to get it fixed. Fireplace Fix sent someone to my house on 12/30/22, and stated the technician would come out and diagnose the issue and quote me for a fix. The technician came out, and took my entire fireplace apart. He took everything out. He spent about an hour at my house. When he was done he explained to me the fireplace needed a flame sensor to be replaced and a module to be replaced. He said he was unsure if the shop had both parts, and said the office would be calling me that afternoon to let me know if they had the parts or if they had to be ordered. He said once he had the parts, we could schedule for him to come back out and replace them. He quoted me $895 for the replacement of both parts. I signed the sales invoice for him coming to the house ($60) before he left. And he said I would be contacted that day about the parts. After he left, the fireplace would not come on. It would make a very loud click click click noise. But would not come on. Before he came out, we at least would be able to use the fireplace even though it wouldn't stay on for very long. So we were unsure what he did while he was here that made the fireplace inoperable completely. Six days went by after the technician left, and still never got any call from the company, despite the tech saying someone would call me same day that he was here. I finally decided to call Fireplace Fix to find out the status since I hadn't heard from anyone yet. A woman answered and told me one of their workers recently had an injury and it put their orders behind. She said she needed to check their shop and see if they had the parts, and that she'd call me right back. Seven days go by. One whole week, with no follow up. I call them again. The same woman answers. She answers and says she's glad I called, but she was currently on the other line with a customer and said she'd call me right back. Well, that was now six weeks ago.... I never got another call back from this company. About two weeks ago I got fed up with waiting, obviously Fireplace Fix did not want my business. So I called another company. Custom Specialties Group (CSG) (702)657-1244, and explained to them that another company had come out and told me my flame sensor and module needed to be replaced. They came out a few days later, with a couple of technicians. I told them what Fireplace Fix had told me. I explained the fireplace did work some before they came out, and it no longer worked at all. The technician with CSG showed me that it appeared the flame sensor had been completely broken in half when he took it out. He said that was why the fireplace would not turn on. So the flame sensor was working when the tech with Fireplace Fix came out, but then was broken during the visit. CSG had a flame sensor on their work truck. They replaced the flame sensor while they were here and showed me that my module for the fireplace was not in need of being replaced at all. CSG showed me that most likely it was only the flame sensor all along that was going out and would have been a very easy fix from the previous company. Within an hour of that visit with CSG, we had a roaring fire going. And the total for the visit and flame sensor replacement was $195 dollars. That's all! So, please explain why Fireplace Fix quoted me almost $900 to replace parts that didn't need to be fix, broke something while they were here, and then never called or showed up to fix our fireplace? This company is a bad joke. I'm so glad they ended up not calling me. Since I was able to get the fireplace replaced for a fraction of the cost. This place shouldn't even be in business. Today is February 22nd, I'm still waiting for fireplace fix to call me back . But definitely no need now. The company should refund my $60 from the visit for the hassle I had to go through. read more

We are selling our father's house, and needed to get the gas fireplace working. He never used it, and had turned it off probably about 20 years ago. We had gotten a quote of $250 from a handyman service that we were using for other projects, but we decided that we wanted to go with a fireplace professional. When I spoke with FirePlaceFix, they were friendly and professional. They said that fireplace repairs start at $125 and they do a full cleaning. We were told that most of the time, a good cleaning will get things unclogged and working. It was easy to schedule, and we were the ones that had to push out the date, as we were not available. Since we don't live at the house, the technician, Camilo, called and texted 30 minutes before showing up, although that may be standard procedure. It is much appreciated. He was friendly and was able to get the pilot light on within minutes of setting up his tools. He put down a blanket to lay his tools on, and started checking and cleaning the fireplace. Started out great and I was very excited. I saw a lot of great reviews. They came to give me an estimate for fireglass conversion and "clean" the fireplace. Charged me $120 to clean it and he said he would put the $120 towards the estimate. It didn't look like they cleaned much of it. Looked pretty much the same. They left and I waited for a while for the estimate. I contacted them And she said she would get it to me that same day and I got nothing. Mike just left, had my fireplace back in operation quickly. He started with the most simple thing, and didn't try and upsell me on new parts. Turns out it was just my pilot light that was dirty. We have had them come out on three separate occasions (everything in our fireplace is original to the house, so kind of old) in the past few years. They are quick to respond, quick to schedule, and really great about fixing what can be fixed without trying to up-charge on unnecessary things. This last repair was the first time a potentially expensive repair was mentioned and it was a maybe-prepare-for-it-in-the-future type of thing. We trust them and that is gold with repair companies and repair people. They must treat their employees decently because we have always had the same technician, Josh, who is just lovely; knowledgeable, patient, good at what he does, and personable. When you have to let a tech into the heart of your home, it's nice to feel very comfortable with them. Deb, who handles the calls, is also very warm and friendly. Deb has also been great at getting things scheduled if they are more urgent. The last time we actually had our downstairs heating unit go out only to find the fireplace wouldn't light AND it was a couple of days before holiday guests were arriving.
