Not bad at all. My review is biased upon the food I ordered. The food I ordered was good. Wasn't bad yet didn't stand out much. Which is fine. It's a solid place to eat food. The ambiance is great. Not crowded yet a warm dining homey feel. The food I ordered filled me up well too. I ordered the Cajun meatloaf sandwich with sweet potato tater tots. I haven't had meatloaf in over a decade and quite frankly can't recall the last time I had meatloaf. So thought to try it when I saw it on the menu. The Cajun meatloaf wasn't spicy at all to me. So I would have liked it to taste spicy. Not a big deal though. It tasted fine. Didn't stand out in taste as being amazing yet was fine. I always opt for sweet potatoes as a side instead of regular fries if it's an option. Almost never have seen sweet potato tater tots on a menu so that was unique and they tasted fine. Obviously taste deep fried but not bad. Overall my meal was filling. They have a decent sized menu too and overall portion sizes seemed to be big too. So it was good. Absolutely love this place! I miss the Bloody Wall dearly, thanks covid! We had the whole dining room to ourselves! The fire place was lit which made the room feel SUPER cozy! Our server was amazing! Made great suggestions and gave us honest opinions! We got two bottles of champagne and two apps to start! The banana nut french toast and wings HIT THE spot!! 1st visit was for a simple and quick dinner. This restaurant gives a low energy, sports bar feel. The menu was basic bar food with a few items which are not common in the area. While sitting at the bar I noticed a large cooler that showed the wide variety of beers. I was craving a chicken club sandwich and though it wasn't on the menu the kitchen had know problem with creating it for me by merging the blackened chicken sandwich with the turkey club. read more

2023/11/23 for a classic Thanksgiving Dinner. Our server brought us our dinner and we began to enjoy it. After a vew bites of the shredded turkey I found a bone about 3". OK then another and another and another see pictures. My girlfriend found simular shards of bone and then finally a Turkey Neck Bone. How incompentent is the person who prepared our dinners. We were in the patio and they did not turn on the heaters in our area and as you can see 2 other fheaters on the opposite side are on and red. Since we didn't get to finish our dinner which except for the mediocre service and BONES in our dinner the manager comp'd un on the food not the drinks. I still gave a tip of 60%. read more

Disappointing. It has been several years since I've been to Fireside. I have some good memories of this restaurant and was excited to go back. Unfortunately, my welcome back experience was anything but good. I ordered an iced tea, soup of the day, and a fish & chips entrée. The iced tea was fine, but served a bit cloudy for my taste. I ordered a bowl of the chicken tortilla soup, but a tomato bisque came out in a sloppy mess. The last straw was my fish & chips came out cold and well under cooked, even the broccoli was luke warm. The server was gracious and offered a new, free dish, but I declined. I didn't want to potentially wait for another 45 minutes. I do not see myself coming back here for the foreseeable future, which is a shame. Maybe someday I'll give Fireside another chance, but their service needs to change! read more

Been going to Fireside since 1970. Charming, cozy atmoshpere & great waitstaff. Last nite was the 1st time I was not satisfied with meal. I have always loved the ribs and all 3 of us ordered full slabs so we'd have leftovers. The ribs were really dry and the size of the ribs were totally different for each of us. Manager came over & refused to replace the small ribs but offered a small discount. I have hosted events there in the past & never had anything to complain about. We stopped by here on a Saturday night. Honestly, I was shocked to see how busy the bar was! The host was really nice. We said we wanted to sit outside but wanted to be by the fire because it was kinda cold. He asked if we had seen the back patio- which we hadn't. It was the perfect combination of feeling like outside, but it was warm! I cannot thank him enough for that. We had a beautiful atmosphere! Our server was nice! She told us about their cocktail of the month (basically rum and coke with grenadine) but it was only $5! Score! We ordered those with a blackened chicken sandwich and the Gouda mac n cheese. The sandwich was fine. The chicken was cooked well. It wasn't necessarily Cajun flavored. I actually liked this place! It's a place with history and the food is pretty good! It's the kind of old time bar and restaurant that is disappearing. One of my favorites is the steak sandwich. It's tender and flavorful. The house chipotle aioli is a nice touch. The coconut shrimp is great too! Another good sauce despite it being a little spicy. The Mac and cheese is only ok. It's not bad, but it's a little bland. Combine this with fair prices and the history of this place with Rosehill next store makes this a fun restaurant of old! read more

The service here is fantastic. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, and very knowledgeable of the menu. We tried Spring Thyme mocktails which had a hint of raspberry - they were delicious. The food came out quickly and still very hot, despite us having a table of 15. 5 of our party of 15 got the spicy shrimp spaghetti and LOVED it - it's not too spicy and the pasta sauce is great. I really like Fireside Restaurant. The vintage building, neighborhood and quiet street next the railroad tracks and cemetery, really make this place quaint and inviting. You can feel the history inside and out. There are several rooms and a lovely heated outdoor patio. There's a nice fireplace in the dining room and another out on the patio. The interesting artwork is a nice touch. We sat at the bar and were taken very good care of by our attentive bartender. She was friendly and checked on us often. We enjoyed the $2 tacos. They were a great size and were sooo tasty. They offer chicken, steak and fish tacos. They are simple but delicious. My friend had a margarita and I had an ice cold beer. We went there on New Year's Eve after a concert.we got there about 1:30 pm.The only people there were at the bar and every table were dirty,so we sat at a dirty table for a few minutes.After about five minutes the busboy walked by and looked at our table and walked away so we took the dirty glasses and put them on other table.We waited another ten minutes and nobody walked up to our table or greeted us or wiped the table down or asked if we wanted something to drink or eat.So we left.We went there because their kitchen is supposed to be open late.We were we're there about two months ago and they charged my credit card for some one else's dinner,they refunded that ,then changed me for our dinner twice and then took one charge off.After all this my bank shut down my card because it could be fraudulent.We asked for the manager he didn't apologize for the problem and asked if we had another card to pay for dinner.We like going there for dinner but after all this it will be a long time before we go back - if we go back read more

I recently dined at Fireside Restaurant on North Ravenswood. It sort of feels like two establishments in one. If you walk in the front entrance, there is a doorway on the right towards the "bar" area, with music and also a few tables for a slightly more casual dining experience. The doorway on the left leads to the main dining area, with a warm fireplace prominently featured on the side wall. If you sit near the fireplace (such as our party of three), you will definitely feel warm and toasty. There are interesting artworks on every wall for added visual appeal, so you feel like you're in a cross between a ski lodge and art gallery. The food menu is rather extensive, but the drinks menu seemed even more robust. I had previously visited Fireside's bar during a beer trolley tour, and after having inspected the beer list thoroughly I know why Fireside was included in that tour. I must have perused longingly at the beer listings for ten minutes before selecting the Ommegang on tap. There is no complimentary bread basket here, and the menu states NO SPLITTING PLEASE. We each ordered ribs for dinner, as that is one of the featured (and pricier) menu items. I ordered a full slab, with an enormous baked potato (comes with butter and a cup of sour cream) and mixed vegetables. The ribs were splashed with a slather of barbecue sauce across the slab. The ribs tasted fine, the meat was tender, though I admit the ribs are no comparison to the ribs I like at Smoque. I did have about four of the ribs to take home, and enjoyed them reheated the following evening. Should I pop by Fireside again, I'd like to try something else on the menu. The service level was efficient during our meal. There is a small but free customer parking lot adjacent to the south wall of the restaurant. read more
