Break pad

THIS SHOP PUT MY FAMILY AT RISK BY FAILING TO DO THEIR JOB!!! I've been a customer at this location for years. Recently I had a grinding noise coming from the front brakes on my 2005 Toyota Camry and brought it in for a brake inspection. Upon completion of the inspection I was told there was 4mm of pad left and the brakes were good. Around 1,500 miles later I was still hearing the same noise so I pulled off the pads myself and both the left and right pad looked like the photo. I was very upset as this shop put my family at risk by not doing their job. When I spoke with the manager he provided excuses and failed to take responsibility.

Ouch.

They take advantage of women! Horrible. My wife took my truck to replace tires and they took advantage of her. Firestone in Chula Vista charged an additional $324 plus a bunch of additional fees to install the tires on my 2013 Toyota Tacoma. This was on top of the new tires. The tires cost $451.96. But all together she was charged $980. They didn't offer her the holiday specials either. I work in the auto industry and this one hurts. They charged to dispose 4 tires when I took 3 of the 4 home with me. Horrible. They haven't even reached out to refund what was overcharged. Shame.

Staining from the mechanic

I managed to block out why I have been putting off an alignment. I now remember why... I purchased a lifetime alignment at another location because they were amazing. I moved and came to this location as it was the closest to my house. I made an appointment last week for 11:00 on Monday, guy said it usually takes an hour and a half. I drop the truck off at 10:30 and tell them I'm going to wait. I asked him how long it would take and he said he would call me in 15 minutes to let me know (He never called). I leave their building to walk around outside and come back 2 hours later. I walk up and still see my truck sitting in the same parking space. I walk in and immediately the guy who greeted me this morning recognized me, I couldn't even talk to him before he darted in the back. He flagged someone about my truck, I saw he held the pouch with my keys. He proceeds to tell me it got a little backed up and it would be another 30 minutes... Why TF do you make appointments if you blow off the people who plan it out?!? Because it isn't some big sale and a return for an alignment where you make no money?!? I get my car and saw staining on the seat. Are you F kidding?!? They "cleaned" it right away but come on. It was supposed to be my lunch break not an entire day of work. Long story, but take your car to another location. ANY OTHER location. These people are a joke and don't care about your time.

I was charged $159 for the diagnostic and another $159 for the repair, which I paid. Less than 24 hours later, the exact same warning lights came back on. I returned to the shop and was told again that a rodent had chewed the same wiring and that I would need to pay another $159 for the same repair. The idea that rodents conveniently chewed the exact same wire twice overnight is not believable. Rather than standing behind their work, the shop immediately tried to charge me again without offering any warranty, accountability, or proof that the issue was truly caused by rodents in the first place. This experience strongly suggests either an incomplete repair or a dishonest diagnosis. Being asked to repeatedly pay for the same "fix" is unacceptable. I would not trust this shop with repairs and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere.

There was only one car ahead of me, and once I pulled in the actual service took about 10 minutes. What I really appreciated was how transparent and low-pressure everything felt. They clearly explained what they were going to do, what they recommended, and why but I never felt pushed or upsold. As someone who doesn't know a ton about cars (and as a woman, where that can sometimes be a concern), this made me feel way more comfortable and respected. I used a coupon and got a full synthetic oil change plus an air filter replacement for $139, which felt very reasonable given how fast and easy the whole process was. Wait time will depend on how many cars are ahead of you and what services they're getting, but the actual oil change itself was super quick. They also give you a really clear printout showing everything they checked and the prices, which I loved. No mystery, no guessing what you paid for. Overall this was a smooth, efficient, and trustworthy place to get an oil change, and I'll definitely be coming back.

Today's visit was the WORST experience I have had so far. Edward was my service attendant and mentioned he was the manager on duty, that it was a Sunday so there was no one else who would be able to better assist me. Before today's visit: Valvoline tenchnicians on multiple occasions have suggested the manual transmission and rear differential services, but did not carry my manual transmission fluid or differential fluid. Therefore, the techs would suggest I purchase the fluid and bring my Miata back to get serviced. I finally coordinated and was in and out at the Valvoline by Costco on H Street. This was about 2 years ago. Today -- I arrived at the 1556 East H St. location I had expectation to get all 3 services done, but it seemed I was experiencing all the inconsistencies of a new/inexperienced team member. It began with the oil change discussion and slowly him discovering that I had other serviceable suggestions popping up, including my transmission and diff fluid. I informed him I brought in the fluid and I was willing to pay for the labor costs associated. He he retrieved the fluid from my trunk, and added the costs associated. When I asked for clarification of the costs he said it was for the labor and liquid associated. That didn't make sense because why would I pay for liquid I am providing. From there the discussion felt rushed and rejected because all of a sudden "they couldn't use the fluid" I provided. Then, Edward told me to open my trunk so he can return the fluids. In shock, I opened my trunk so he could return it. I wouldn't want to push a team unwilling to provide the service. It was interesting bc the cost associated with the 3 services came to around 288 and some change with a coupon code I had. After he returned my fluid to my trunk he and some of the team retreated into their office to the right of Bay 1 and simply stayed there while I called the location by Costco H Street for peace of mind. From here on out there was limited to no communication and I paid for my oil change. As for the conversation(s) with H Street Valvoline by Costco, I was passed to 3 different associates. The first two were quite helpful that I learned-- servicing varies between locations and BASED ON THE TECHNICIAN'S skillset. By the time I reached the 3rd individual, named Alex I believe, he said he wasn't able to provide those services. IDK, perhaps it matters what day, time, and members you are dealt with or maybe they just don't equip the teams with individuals who can get specific jobs other than oil changes and tire rotations, done. Bottomline the inconsistencies I experienced and not getting my car serviced for ADVERTISED services by Valvoline is a shocking realization. I probably would call in before getting my vehicle serviced with Valvoline again to make sure the team is adequate and I certainly wouldn't recommend the 1556 East H Street location.
