I'm a student at UAlbany. They charged me almost $1000 just to get my cars battery and alternator replaced and fixed, ok fine. Days later somehow my power steering is terrible and the car is unable to drive which was never a problem, UNTIL AFTER I GOT MT CAR FIXED. I go back to them and they tell me about 6 different things is wrong with the car and it will cost $3000 parts and labor. I went to another mechanic days later and they told me it was just the hose and it would cost $200. I got some words in real life for yall people just wait till I come back. Made an appointment for oil change and wiper replacement at Pep Boys in Colonie. Left side Wiper t had come off, the right was fine. They cracked my windshield and covered it up with crap that it was already there, NO it was not I would have noticeed a very large crack 18" starting in the the middle *Where the arm of the wiper is" going up half way across the drivers side. Brought my wife's car in recently for an inspection. The entire reason we brought it in was for the inspection. I get called and told we need @$2800 dollars in repairs. Because of the nature of the systems invlovled we do it. Turns out they never did the actual "inspection." which was the whole reason we brought the car there in the first place. We bring it back and I tell them, representative responds, "It's not on the sheet there is no way to know..." It was the WHOLE REASON we brought it there in the first place. It wasn't on any sheet because they didn't do it. They sure as hell didn't forget the $1041 and $1810 repairs you charged us. *update - brought vehicle in at 11am and requested the inspection. What a rip off! I thought $100 for a mount and balance at Midas was expensive for me truck, but this was ridiculous. $180 to do 15 inch wheels and they didn't even put them on my car. Took them over a week and never called me...I had to call them. Then they couldn't even be bothered to clean off the tires. My wife and I drive separate cars and we both come here for just about all of the work we needed. For things like oil changes, inspections, and other basic work they are fine (and my previous review captures my thoughts on that). However, we have recently have had poor experiences with more involved problems such as brakes or electronic sensors. I have had my car in four times over the past year to have squeaking brakes fixed. They charged me once initially but the problem didn't go away. While they have consistently looked at the car, repaired problems and replaced parts that were warped and defective without charging me additional, my car's breaks still squeaks. This last time they managed to get it to stop (the parts were under warranty) but I question how long it will last. My wife has had problems with her ABS sensors, which has led to other related problems. Again, they charged her once initially and then replaced a broken part and then perhaps damaged another part, but despite taking it in several times they clearly haven't been able to fix the problem. And other issues have been caused related to this, which is frustrating. They fixed it under warranty again, but one has to wonder if the solution is permanent. I won't say that they can't fix brakes or electrical problems. They probably can. But, recent personal experience has been that they can't resolve our issues despite repeated opportunities to do so. They have always been friendly and cooperative in working with us to attempt to correct the problems... but at the end of the day the problems still seem to return. When I had issues with my muffler they recommended I go elsewhere which was a good idea. When I had fuel tank issues I went somewhere else too and that turned out to be the right decision. So, I still recommend them for basic work but am less confident about trusting them with more advanced problems. read more

I went here off a remondation from a friend. I could not be happier. I got a KIA sole with 120000. The car was in good shape. Price was very reasonable as well. The owners were help and kind. The ac had a issue and was not realized for a week. They said bring it back fixed it at no cost. Now I have no issues with it. I took it to get a 2nd option. This location performed 4-wheel alignments on my vehicle multiple times without a hitch..after the other three locations in the Capital District failed to. Roman (Wolf Road) is a very honest and proficient advisor albeit the fact that I was specifically lied to at the Troy and Central Avenue locations. In summary, it does not get any better than this! Flattish tire discovered at my work's parking garage today. Drove to Firestone on Wolf Rd which is the closest Firestone to my work. They rotated my tires, evaluated and rebeaded the next to dead tire, and aligned my car all in a little over an hour. I signed the work slip and it came to ZERO dollars! Lifetime alignment helps, but i expected to be charged for the rest. Matthew and Jayson were the technicians who did a beautiful job taking care of the issues. Wolf Rd Branch.... Scam artists... if you are a female you WILL be taken advantage of or at least they will try. First... what is included in an oil change? Are all fluids topped off? Well at this location it depends on who you ask and who you are... and I'm not kidding. In the same phone call we heard two different answers. Windshield wiper fluid IS part of the oil change then the supervisor tells us that it is NOT included that it is a "courtesy"... Are you serious? Originally we brought the car in for an oil change and asked to take a look at the front tire. They tried charging me a $25 fee to inspect the car. Long story short, we called back and cancelled the "inspection" and just asked for the oil change. Less than 10 minutes later we received a call that the oil change was done... seemed very quick??? We ended up picking up the car after hours and soon realized the windshield washer fluid that was empty when dropped off was still empty. Back to the phone calls..after speaking to Wolf Rd (and we asked for District Managers name and info and were denied) we then call another branch and asked the same question and they say of course the fluids are topped off. We then explained the issue and their response was great customer service and also a little scary all in one...they offered to look the car over to confirm we even received an oil change and make sure all fluids are topped off. Will never return. So I made an appointment several days a head of time. Showed up early. Gave them my keys and sat in the lobby along with 3 other people. Keep in mind all I wanted was tires ordered and a brake inspection. I sat there for an hour and half and my truck hadn't moved. Then a lady drives in and comes into the lobby without an appointment requesting prices on tires. They proceed to give her prices and then go out and get her car. After a couple mins they tell her what she needs and they proceed to change her tires. Meanwhile my truck and one of the other people with appointments in the lobby cars haven't move. I look over at the manager after he gets done talking with her, he looks at me then just walks into his office and closes the door. This is not the first time I've had an issue with them. But it will be the last. I then proceed to request my keys and left. I went to MIDA'S on Central Ave and they took care of getting my tires order within 10 mins. This place is a nightmare, Wolf Road branch in Albany. Just needed my snow tires put on, they don't have their own rims and needed to be switched over. Made an appointment the day before, arrived on time. It took them over an hour and a half before my tires were swapped over. Absolutely unnecessary, I would understand if I was a drop in and they had to squeeze me in but I had an appointment. I would 100% avoid this place. read more

I drive over 65K miles a year. Accordingly I am at Firestone auto centers quite often spending thousands a year. Of the dozens of Firestone's that I have been to the one on Wolf road is one of the worst. Today I went in there knowing that the air conditioner compressor had died. But despite my spending thousands of dollars a year with these guys they wanted $130 just to look at it even though they had done $700 of work on it 13 months ago. Then they wanted another $1,200 to fix it. So I brought it over to Aamco on Central ave near Westgate. The entire job was $660. $660 at Aamco $1,330 at Firestone Same length of warranty and same Nationwide warranty . read more

They had a two hour wait but said if they had the right tire they would squeeze me in. I was in and out of there in 1 hr. They were great. Got a good price. I came in with my enterprise rental box truck left it here for four hours to be told that they didn't have the right tool to get the Lugnuts off. When an employee was pulling the truck around he scraped the side of the building I asked the manager Jeff to come out and look at it he just missed it right away that it wasn't their fault came out looked at it and went get me an estimate. I asked if he would write something up Teknowledge the damage he refused when I came inside and asked for his business card and asked him if he would acknowledge on the back of his car that he did damage he refused he said Jesus Christ I said I'll pay for it already. So now I'm sitting in front of the store while the police officer right set up that the employed at the damage. I brought my car in for an oil leak and some vibration when breaking. After examine the car they told me I needed $3,500 worth of work. I explained to them if all that they said needed to be done I would like my regular mechanic to take a look. At one point the guy on the phone said "you're acting like we did something wrong". I explained to him I just wanted a second opinion. Took the car to my regular mechanic and almost NOTHING they said needed to be replaced really did! The oil leak was a $400 repair. I kept the paper from them with all the repairs they said I needed and have the paper from my mechanic saying nope not even close. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Three weeks after my car was fully inspected by another auto repair shop, my son stopped by Firestone on Wolf Road to get wiper blades replaced. As a young adult, he unfortunately trusts people when he should not. The salesman told him that he was unlikely to make it home unless he had $1600 worth of work done. As an added bonus, he sold him a credit card. For weeks, we tried to reach Firestone and they were non-responsive or called and gave numbers where they could not be reached. Once I finally spoke with a low level manager, he was rude and cavalier and just said "he signed for it" over and over again. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the car. David the GM always treated me well on Central and I ended up using the Wolf Rd store because Central wasn't able to fit me in. Great service, free Wifi and free coffee. My only complaint is the waiting area is surrounded with floor to ceiling windows and the glare gets really bad after 3 pm. Otherwise a great experience. read more

If you go to the firestone website they give themselves 4.5 stars. When you go to a consumer website it is 1 star. They and every auto repair place on wolf road are like spider webs waiting to catch innocent victims. I truly wish the attorney general would look into these places of ill repute. I went in to get an estimate for an inspection. Along with the estimate for repairs they also gave me a suggested list of unnecessary things to get replaced. Their estimate was 1700. I took it somewhere else and got the necessary repairs done for 300. They had things on their estimate that were not needed. Please avoid this place. I am not interested in the manager or branch manager reaching out to make things right. I have paperwork from both estimates and one day will go in and ask them why the differences. read more

Avoid this place at all costs! My car had a little difficulty starting ever since the weather turned cold. I took it to Firestone to have them check it out. The check engine sign was on and they told me the code they got was a catalytic converter and O2 sensor. I had the O2 sensor replaced at a Toyota dealership less than a year ago. They also told me the control arm on the right side also needed to be removed and replaced. Once they ran everything, they quoted me a total of nearly $1,800. Again, the only main issue was the car was having difficulty starting up. I had a feeling I was being played and I took the car to Capitol Tech Auto. They ran their own diagnostic and told me it was nothing more than the starter that needed replacing. They explained to me in detail that just because a code shows an O2 sensor or catalytic converter, it doesn't mean it's the root of the problem or that it needs replacing. They said my catalytic converter checked out fine. The total cost to fix my car's problem? $311. Again, Firestone ran a diagnostic which showed a code for the catalytic converter. They didn't bother to take a look at the starter which was the main issue. I have been to them several times and it makes me wonder how many other times they have ripped me off. Never ever will I go there again. If Yelp allowed me to attach a picture and show the invoice on both the places, I would absolutely do that. The bottom line is this: these guys will rip you off and will do so by attempting to sell you unnecessary and unrelated repairs. So take your hard earned money to folks that have a track record of competency. read more

Left my car there for 3 1/2 hours for them to check my tire that went flat. I was told there was nothing wrong with my tire after they inspected it and charged me. Next morning my tire was flat again. I called up to tell them and the customer service was terrible. Basically they didn't care and were rude on the phone and hung up on me, very unprofessional. I took my care here for a basic inspection before a roadtrip, despite my misgivings. They damaged the tire valve on one of my tires, to the point where I can't check the air or put air in the tire. When I brought it back, they denied causing the damage and offered me the chance to pay them to fix the damage. Yeah, no, I think I'll buy my tires and have my work done elsewhere. Yeah first it's the headlight wouldn't work and I needed an inspection anyway so I stopped at Firestone on my way home from work yesterday to get things taken care of. The staff are courteous, the space is clean and well organized, and things were explained to me before anything was done. I passed inspection but they suggested I get the brake fluid changed out so I did that too. There were several other things that they suggested needed doing based on the odometer reading and their guidebooks but I had the car serviced only recently and declined. I sort of felt like they were using the inspection as an opportunity to sell me services that I maybe didn't need, but I was grumpy after being in their REALLY BLAZING HOT waiting room for an hour and a half. Firestone sent me an online customer service survey this morning and I griped BIG TIME about the waiting area. Next time I'm back there I'll have to see if they've treated the windows somehow so the space is more comfortable. If not I'll go read at Smashburger, which is right next door, and have me a chocolate shake while I'm at it. read more
