Went in last week for an inspection. After waiting 10 minutes, was told by one of the 2 employees that were chatting with each other, too late, they only do them in the morning. Came back weekday morning, waited 8 minutes in car after ringing the bell and no one came out, I went out front to interrupt conversation of 2 employees to be told they were booked. Has two cars in the lift, no one actually working. Don't waste your time with this location. read more

I was going on a road trip and I figured it would be a good time for an oil change. My son went for me and since the pricing looked decent we chose Valvoline. They had asked my son if we wanted the cabin filter changed, but they were going to charge $54! You can get a filter at Walmart for $12, so no way. It's 2 days after and my car is running bad since I had an oil change there and makes a noise. Not sure what it is yet, but I didn't notice until I was on my way, 50 miles from home so I thought maybe it was just my imagination? No, I know my car so well that I can tell if it's not running right. I'm taking it to another oil change place where I know the guys do great work and have them check it out. It's running so rough it's like maybe regular oil was used instead of synthetic oil or a mixture? I do need to find out before I take the trip back, being a woman by herself on a road trip I try to make sure all is well with car before any distant trips. I'll reply once I find out what it is. 3 for a rating until I know. Only because there's some oil on my floorboard that got on my book bag and purse. read more

I had my Mini Cooper S in to get an oil change. I almost immediately had an issue with over heating. They improperly reinstalled the coolant tank that must be moved to get access to the oil filter canister and I lost coolant. But most disturbing of all, I changed my own oil today and found that they never put a filter in the canister. I spent almost a thousand dollars replacing cooling system damage because these hacks didn't know how to do their job ! How do you remove the old filter and not put a new one in ! And the canister was leaking because the new filter comes with an O ring to replace the old one they removed and they didn't install that either. Go to a trained mechanic to get an oil change, this is absolutely the most ridiculously under trained bunch of people I've ever had work on my car. read more

My car was just in an accident a few days ago. As soon as I come Christopher, after explaining I just need an oil change, continuously decided to make comments about the condition of my car. When I clearly become frustrated about the situation, and explain I am aware about my car I would just like a regular oil change, he then proceeded to not do any of the normal service routine, and checking my invoice he stated "my engine light is on" but this is false information! He had a nasty attitude and disappeared for the rest of the service. Lucky Daniel, and another employee came and showed empathy to the no fault accident situation that I just went through. If it wasn't for them I would give a zero as this is the most embarrassing situation I have been in. read more

My Original bad review was on Google, for an issue with Just wanting a NYS inspection, and they took my cabin air filter out and showed me, Then gave me attitude when I told them I can do it myself, I like to buy OEM parts, and Im mechanically inclined,They gave a response from the owner to my review saying to e-mail a case# and Vin# as they would address it, The email came back as something went wrong, So they attempt to make it look like they care, They probably pay someone to just respond to a bad review with no intention of doing anything. I felt extremely bad for those guys, it's was 86* that day, they don't even have a Fan in that shop while they work, all sweaty, clothes sticking to them, faces all red but they did their jobs with a smile. I don't know why my wife keeps using these guys, but that ends now. I won't give too many details, but we have had nothing but issues whenever we use them. Issues include incomplete work, not following simple instructions, screwing up a simple tire rotation, cross threading a lug nut (then breaking the lug when removing the nut and leaving us to get it fixed, no appology - until I raised the issue and got them to fix it.) Every visit has required an angry follow-up phone call and a return visit to get an issue resolved. My wife liked (past tense) to go here because she didn't have to wait long or make an appointment. Came in this morning around 9:15 to do an inspection for my car and a guy named Patrick greeted me at the door . I told him I need a state inspection and I was limited on time and had to be at work at 10:00 . There was two cars ahead of me both getting work done . Patrick told me it would take about 30 mins and I would be fine and he would do all the minor stuff first so it would go quicker . About 15 mins passed and I was done . I couldn't complain at all about the service and he was very professional and nice . I will be coming back here again for my oil and everything else. read more

Stay away! I used them because I couldn't get an appointment at my normal garage. Told man who greeted me that I wanted and Oil Change only that's all. Technician came in to full office with what he said was my air cleaner and told me it needed replacing. I said put it back I want oil change only. Was given a snotty remark saying I don't know how to take care of a vehicle then returned to the bay. FORD the manufacturer says oil is good for 5,000 miles after change. Valvoline says theirs is good for only 3,000 miles. BAD OIL? Stay away! read more

This time all new people at Latham valvoline. This guy was so much focused on talking to me about changing filters. He didn't show me the oil level as they do generally after putting new oil in. They have no knowledge of the NYS Tint Law. I was told by these guys that the law states no tint. ALL TINT MUST BE REMOVED. I was instructed on how I remove the tint. I only have the manufacturer tint that was on the truck when I purchased it from the Honda Dealership. The Tech actually told me that he was suppose to remove my sticker and not replace it. Instead they are making the consumer aware and turning them away. I went to my mechanic who immediately stated they did not know what they were talking about. Tessman explain the law, checked the MPV and gave me my inspection sticker. read more

I am really impressed with this location. Everyone here was extremely polite and helpful. I came on a Sunday to get my oil changed and my car inspected. I was in and out of here in 40 minutes. I got an oil change, New York State inspection, and the power steering flush. The team working here today was top notch. Would definitely recommend this location. read more

I came in for an inspection and the sticker is supposed to be in the bottom left corner of the window. Neat and straight. The staff put in half way up the windshield and that's just not okay. Now I have to pay an additional $21 because they lack personal responsibility to do their job correctly. Disappointing. read more

Great staff at this location, as always they get you in and out quickly with a friendly attitude. Today I went in early to get a NYS Inspection, but I was told they were out of safety stickers and weren't ordering any until the new year. Whatever the reason for this decision, it surely didn't have their customers in mind. I'm here at Jiffy Lube waiting around for 1/2 hour until they open.... not happy. Traded in my car last week and come to find out that my car lost value due to a MILEAGE DISCREPENCY on its report because this Valvoline recorded my car's mileage incorrectly. I lost out on a few hundred dollars because of their carelessness. This should not be something that I need to worry about happening... would not go back here. read more

Don't go there. They didn't close the access door under my oil filter, with the result that the door was dragging on the ground. I went back to Valvoline to get them to fix it, and they said they would. But, I noticed them getting zip-ties out to fix the door, instead of doing a real repair. I confronted the manager, who said they do that all the time, and that I would be better off without the access door!!! My car has only 35,000 miles, and I don't want a repair done with bailing wire and duck tape. I'm now waiting for the promised repair. Once it is done, I'll have to go to the dealer to verify that Valvoline did it right. I have no confidence in them. read more

Very happy with them. Fast oil change and they changed my air filter, which I didn't realize was causing my engine to be sluggish. As soon as I drove away, I noticed the change in acceleration. All at a very reasonable price and without talking down to me. Very much appreciated. read more

I would not go back.. Went for an oil change and also asked them to fill my tires as my tire pressure gage was on.. I get my car after about 25 minutes.. the tire pressure gage is still on as well as my change oil notification. The guy states the tire gage and notification should go off after I start driving.. Well, neither did.. I had to go to Stewarts to fill my tires, then the light went off, meaning to me they lied about filling my tires.. Also, the change oil notification stayed on.. I called and they said they must have forgot to re-set it.. Well, I don't think they changed it at all, yes they showed me the dipstick, but i guess that doesn't really mean anything. So, I am about a week later and I have no windshield wiper fluid.. again something that was supposed to be filled.. clearly it wasn't ! I don't trust that anything was done to my car, so I will spend another $50 to go to the dealership to have it changed again. read more

Stay away from Vavoline on Loudon Rd in Latham. Just had oil change done on Tuesday and now there's no oil in the car. Called them and they responded with "We'll get back to you". Waited another hour and called them again. Response was lost paper with information. After waiting almost another hour the manager shows up at our home. He gets under the car and makes statement such as .... Don't think this is our mistake and makes other statements such as ... you don't maintain your car.... haven't you ever made a mistake.... I don't want you as a customer. We took the car to Innovative Performance Automotive in Menands to get fixed. They even wrote on their invoice that Vavoline was at fault. It appears the O-ring was installed improperly. We had to pay Vavoline for the job done improperly, pay to have it repaired and now pay to have the under carriage cleaned from all the oil spilled underneath the car. Guess the manager didn't want to be bothered to pay attention to us. He noted he gets 100 new customers every week. Can't imagine that to be true but whoever goes to them I hope they don't get the service we received. read more
