Honda Accord 06 v6. Needed an alternator, didn't have many options since my battery died rightby this place. Ended up paying 800.00 for an alternator that would have cost 150- 300 anywhere else. Not only was the price ridiculous my pulley system has been making a weird noise since the alternator was replaced. I would highly recommend you do not go here for any mechanical service! read more

Zero accountability or reliability. Don't take a reservation if you can't service it. Ive been going here for years and generally was fine, close and convenient and they used to be at least decent on communication. I made a reservation online, only to show up and be told they have no room for me and can't service it, was told I should've called to make a reservation. No apology, no understanding the frustration, just that it's corporates fault for taking an online reservation and it's not their problem. I understand it's a busy time and difficult to find employees, but the simple concept of empathy and ownership when you caused a problem by taking a reservation you couldn't service was nonexistent. Doing what every car owner does I called around looking for a reasonable place close to home as I just moved out to this area.. I brought the car in on Friday under the assumption that they were going to replace 2 co2 sensors and fix my window. During this process there has been literally zero communication it is me calling the shop to get updates on what is going on with my vehicle only for the " service manager" to continuously spin me around everytime. It's pretty cut and dry you read my codes you knew what was going on with my vehicle and yet here I am 4 days later my vehicle is still not fixed and now I'm out almost $400 for a sensor I doubt they even replaced. I blew out a tire and found it necessary to call around for pricing. The employee I spoke with, Corey, was very helpful and informative, but not pushy. He told me about an upgrade they currently had on sale but did not overly push the upgrade. After calling 6 other tire establishments I called back. Corey remembered original conversation and quoted me a price for 2 tires, per my request. I arrived at 12:30 and was out of there at a little after 1 PM. Price paid was EXACTLY what Corey quoted. No ups, no add ons. They informed me of a couple of mechanical items I should keep an eye on (oil and a hose) but no pushy sales. I didn't even get that horrible feeling of "you're a girl and I can push anything on you". GREAT PLACE! They even put the temporary tire back in the sealed hatch in the trunk. I got a jump and drove across the street to Firestone with my fingers crossed. From the time I walked in, I was taken care of. Bud was friendly and engaging throughout the process and kept me updated on what was happening. It was no problem that it was so late. They found the battery I wanted, got my car pulled in, replaced it, and got me out of there in 30 minutes! High Five! Ohhhhhh Eric, he was the best! I'm someone that does not, let me repeat, DO NOT trust anything dealership, car shops, blah nothing. My Infiniti dealership drives me up the wall. BUYER BEWARE of this place!....The played the good old mechanic trick on me upon which I call them out and yet still tried to sucker punch me. Find another place for your auto service. Read on Background Early this year my wife need new tires for he car. We looked around and I had service done by the Firestone Franchise before. They had sales on their tires for Ford, so we went with them. I have intermediate experience with auto repairs, I've done maintenance on my car including replacing my own brakes and such. So I'm not completely ignorant when it comes to auto repairs. Job Performed I went in and have the 2 tires replace as the back 2 was still in good condition. They did their thing with the 24 points inspection and such. After 2 hours work done , tired replaced and the manager was really nice and helpful. All Good!, so far..... The Next Day My wife drives the car and she begins to hear and feel vibration coming from the tire. I works downtown and she is in the burbs so I call Firestone ahead and have her bring in the car. This is the Coup De Gra....I knew a common "trick" of mechanics is they do not tighten the nuts completely to "diagnose" further repair issues for your car. Now I did not exactly call them out but just suggest to them to take a look at that. They agreed. Wife brought the car in and suddenly they claim the wheels were bend, new tires needed and some other stuff which will cost $650!....I got on the phone with the tech and asked the question about the nuts and wheel; he claimed lugs nuts WAS NOT the issue. I told them we'll re-schedule. The Fixed- Cheaply Got home that night, I check the nuts on the wheel in question...guess what!??? it was loose and I tighten it and no vibration, no noise, no issue....FIXED COST = $0 This has been 3 months and still no issue. Bottomline I WILL NOT and DO NOT recommends anyone to this Firestone. They may be very well spoken and impress you with "good customer service" talk. They are flat out dishonest and tried to rip me off. It's a ashame that you have bad apples like this to mess up the franchise. I will never go to another Firestone again. read more

Third trip to this Firestone giving benefit of it being a chain. I don't like going to mechanics because I work on car electronics all day so I don't like working on them when I come home. Took my 2007 Yukon here to find a noise drop my truck off. Five hours later they call me and say they don't know what the problem is recommended changing my rear end drive shaft they said they couldn't be sure that would fix it so I said I wasn't prepared to spend that kinda money. Took my truck home call a friend explain the problem he said change the 18 dollar a piece u-joint took 45 min to do and problem gone Second trip different car my impala leaking oil like there's a hole in my oil pan. Take it in I pay 50 bucks to check it the come back with a bill of 5000 bucks oil pan gasket head gasket oil filter housing. I said I didn't think I would do that I would just change the motor would be cheaper. Took it home me and my son get under the car clean it off because they didn't like the said they would. Ran it saw the leak bought a 9.99 oils filter housing gasket 6 bolts later three on the ac compressor three on the filter ran car for three days now no leak on my new garage floor yet. Third trip for a tire said these tires would be better then my goody ears that where on it I told the I like a quite ride was my biggest concern. Sell me over a thousand dollar worth of tires I hate them drove them three weeks. Ended up a discount tire gave me some credit cause the tires had so much tread got me some silent armor tires like I had before and back in love with my truck. I'm not gonna say they don't have know what the where doing I just saying they need some training help a clue I cut up my Firestone card deleted them from my phone and labeled them as a trap in my gps just in case I forget. Kind of torn on this place. A year or two ago I was here and receive great service so when my truck needed new tires I called. After calling other places over the next day or two I decided to get my tires here so I headed over on a saturday. The problem was I wrote down my tire quotes at work and didnt have them with me. When the person at the counter quoted me pricing it was too high and I mentioned I had a much lower price so the number came down to $189 per tire. From memory that sounded right so I said go ahead. After adding the cost of mounting, disposal, and this, and that, and tax, it ended up being $233 per tire. So Monday rolls around and I get to my desk at work and I see my notes on the tire and I was quoted $163 per tire plus all the miscellaneous charges.. Doh! I felt ripped off and even though its my fault for not bringing in my notes, it doesnt make me want to go back. read more

I scheduled an appointment to have my car looked at and serviced. The appointment was scheduled for 11/18/2019 @ 8am. I dropped off my vehicle, was asked what time I needed it back by, I informed them by 5pm. I informed Anthony that my vehicle did not have heat, was blowing cold air from the vents, was making a rattling sound underneath and that my windshield washer fluid leaks. I then left and I ubered to work. I received a phone call @ 12:30pm from Greg informing me that my car had been inspected by Josette and I was told of all of the things that needed to be repaired(none of which were my complaints). At the end of our conversation I asked about the 3 things I dropped my vehicle off for, the main thing being the heat. Greg told me that the rattling was the muffler/heat shield & it needed to be welded which they do not do. He then told me my windshield fluid hose had a hole, another thing they do NOT repair. Lastly he told me I needed a radiator flush, blower motor & thermostat to repair the heat. I authorized them to fix the thermostat, blower motor and perform the radiator flush over the phone so I could have heat. I arrived to pick up my vehicle @ 5:30pm. I waited at the counter and was told that my vehicle had "slipped through the cracks and had been forgotten about". I asked how long would it be to fix. I was told about an hour. My vehicle was actually still in the air on the lift in the last bay closest to main street. I sat down and waited seeing as I had no choice to. I had already ubered to work and back to Firestone. At approximately 6:45 I was told that they had fixed my vehicle as best they can but I would need to come back the following day because they were closing soon. I was also told I had to pay before leaving with my vehicle. Not only did my vehicle NOT have heat when I left, my vents were no longer working. I brought my vehicle back the next day and dropped it off again @ 8AM. I informed them I would return @ 5PM to pick it up and I expected it to be repaired. I received a phone call from Anthony halfway through the day. He told me that my vehicle was "old" and he wasn't sure they could fix it. He told me he would continue to work on it but that I would need to bring it back the next day. I expressed my frustration and stated I didn't know Firestone could not fix "old" cars. That would've been something I should have been informed about before I dropped it off. Especially since they clearly knew the make, model and year of my vehicle. I wasted $311.48 on the "repairs" they did NOT do, $28 in Uber rides and 2 days of Firestone having my vehicle. He then told me he didn't want to put his foot in his mouth, which he had already done. When I left the second day, he told me "don't worry, I'm not charging you for today." Are you kidding me?! I should not have been charged yesterday! Firestone has a guarantee, at what point do they honor that guarantee? To say I am unsatisfied would be an understatement. And yelp should not make me give any stars if a business does not deserve it. read more

I went in they took my tire off my car made some BS story that they cannot plug it in and try to upsell me. Christmas Eve my rental car's driverside front tire was damaged. It was a slow leak that caused a cracked sensor to damage. Firestone of Downers Grove was the only auto repair shop available to assist me last minute. The part was unrepairable in the end. Thank you to the manager Tim Lambin's above and beyond efforts to salvage my Christmas Eve and spirit . Tim was able to accomodate a last minute loaner car so I can continue my travels to visit my family. You defintely have earn my business on all future oil changes, repairs and tire purchases. ZERO STARS: Brought my daughter's car in to diagnose loud knocking in front suspension. The car is high mileage 170k so don't want to spend a lot. They claim an upper control arm I replaced 2000 miles ago and the one not replaced yet as the problem, also told me it needs new wiper blades (2k miles). I'm a tech, always did all my own work including building engines for hot rods but I'm older now with stage 4 cancer. I had already checked what I could easily. They dropped one wheel on its face and totally trashed it. Lost the chrome valve stem covers and caps. Cross threaded a lugnut and then quoted me $500 for the repair. A trip down the street to another shop fixed it for $90. I wouldn't recommend this dump to an enemy. Avoid this place like the plague... read more

My son dropped off my car around 12:30 on 11/22/2017. One of the tires was losing air. He was told that it would be 3 to 4 hours before it was ready. He called them at about 4pm, and he was told that it was not looked at yet, but that they would call him. They did call, at 6:50 notifying that he had 10 minutes to pick up the car. When we picked it up, I asked the gentleman behind the desk why no one had called before 6:50, but there was no comment. He simply charged me and did not explain anything else. The next day, the tire was low, again. I took it in on 11/24, due to the 23rd being a holiday. It was then that I was told by one of the mechanics that there was not a flat on the tire, just corrosion on the rim. I was charged for cleaning the corrosion and replacing the valve stem cap. I could bring the car back if there was still an issue. Communication is key people. read more

Warning: Stay away from this FireStone!!! So, I changed two tires for my car. After driving three days, there was a very loud sound from the back during speeding up process. it was very annoying. I went back there, Tom helped me to check out. During that period, Nick, receptionist/sales person were talking bad things about other auto repair shops around the neighborhood. After 30 minutes, Tom came out and wanted to call my husband. Ok. Women do not understand car? Then, he gave us a quote about $800, claiming the wheel of my car was bend, and had to be changed. I asked him, if I would not fix it, what would happen. I caught a sly smile from him when he answered that it probably could cause some problems. With this ridiculous $800 quotes, I went back home. My husband found out 2 out of 4 screws from the tire they put on has not been screwed firmly. It is a usual procedure to screw it firmy. And it is also a trick by some auto repair shops not to screw all of them to create a noise to make consumer panic and pay more to 'fix' it. So, my husband re-screwed all the tires. and the sound was gone. I will never go to a Firestone again for sure. They dishonesty really disappoint me. read more

First experience was dismal-simple oil change using their coupon. Got home and realized plastic shield under car was not placed on car. They agreed to purchase a new one if I came back. Second experience- simple oil change. Dropped car off early morning. Specifically told them not to take wheels off or do any other "service checks". Late afternoon stopped by to pick up car. It was on a lift with all tires removed and brake drums pulled off. Tried to sell me thousands in parts and service(which were recently performed). No apology for car not being ready or not listening to my requests. Had to make another trip early evening to pick up car. Sent an email to the owner and received only excuses. Many national chains pay their techs and service writers a commission based on amount of sales. They want to sell you parts you might not need. Might consider second opinion by independent family owned shop before blindly dropping $$ read more

Eric definitely earned my future business. My enterprise rental needed a new tire this past Sunday. Unfortunately he did not have a tire in stock or in the nearby vicinity. I told him I work near midway area and he located a tire at a Firestone near my work. He called the manager and made sure they had the tire for me Monday morning. I normally would not have gone through this much trouble for a rental but the 2014 Ford Fusion really accommodates my family's needs and happens to be fully loaded so I didn't want to give it up for a hyundai elantra or gas hogging suv. This car gets 30 miles to a gallon and Eric found a way for me to keep it while my car is repaired from a recent accident. This place is good for small and quick jobs. However, they are very over priced and will charge you an arm and a leg just to run a diagnostic. The mechanics aren't very knowledgable when it comes to serious car problems and can even be misleading and scare you into thinking something's a lot worse than it actually is!!! Just completely lost my business with one phone call. I asked for a quote on an EVAP control system leakage that was already diagnosed by O'Reilly Auto. I am pretty sure the manager answered the phone and told me they would have to re-diagnose it for 100.00. When I asked why they would have to re-diagnose it, he proceeded to belittle me over the phone saying "do you even know what an EVAP system is?". He sounded irritated and his tone was condesending. Completely uncalled for. I immediately hung up the phone and will not return to their business. They need to learn how to treat their customers. I had a very bad experience with them and that was my very first time I was visiting them. I called them for a battery change for the same day but they said they are completed occupied and gave an appointment the next day by 5 PM. I went by the appointment time gave them my keys and asked them to do an winter inspection check as well. They told me it will take probably a 45 minutes to 1 hour to do both. I thought to wait! after 40 minutes of waiting I thought to poke my head out (It was dark by that time) and I saw my car is still parked outside at the same spot where I left. I really got shocked. I yelled at the person who took the keys and asked if they got any idea on servicing my car today or not. He then checked his system and he came to know that he had put the time for 6 PM and that's why the job card never got picked up! What a total disaster!
