This place is good for small and quick jobs. However, they are very over priced and will charge you an arm and a leg just to run a diagnostic. The mechanics aren't very knowledgable when it comes to serious car problems and can even be misleading and scare you into thinking something's a lot worse than it actually is!!! Obviously tire and oil changes can be done here but I'd leave the bigger jobs to the professionals. read more

Just completely lost my business with one phone call. I asked for a quote on an EVAP control system leakage that was already diagnosed by O'Reilly Auto. I am pretty sure the manager answered the phone and told me they would have to re-diagnose it for 100.00. When I asked why they would have to re-diagnose it, he proceeded to belittle me over the phone saying "do you even know what an EVAP system is?". He sounded irritated and his tone was condesending. Completely uncalled for. I immediately hung up the phone and will not return to their business. They need to learn how to treat their customers. Even if it is the customer that is confused about something..there are much more appropriate ways to communicate that information. RUDE. read more

I had a very bad experience with them and that was my very first time I was visiting them. I called them for a battery change for the same day but they said they are completed occupied and gave an appointment the next day by 5 PM. I went by the appointment time gave them my keys and asked them to do an winter inspection check as well. They told me it will take probably a 45 minutes to 1 hour to do both. I thought to wait! after 40 minutes of waiting I thought to poke my head out (It was dark by that time) and I saw my car is still parked outside at the same spot where I left. I really got shocked. I yelled at the person who took the keys and asked if they got any idea on servicing my car today or not. He then checked his system and he came to know that he had put the time for 6 PM and that's why the job card never got picked up! What a total disaster! He then rushed to my car to take it inside to do the service. They almost took 2 hours just to change the battery and do an inspection for a scheduled appointment! read more

They do a great job here. I regularly bring my personal and work vehicle and never had an issue. However it is a good idea to call first if you are going to bring your car in without an appointment to see if they can take you. read more

Whenever I go to the gas station, I struggle with the air nozzle and more air seems to go out of the tire than what is going into the tire. So I go to Firestone, 845 Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove, IL, to have them check the pressure and put air in my tires. They are always very gracious about checking the air in my tires. I happened to go to have my tires checked on Sunday, June 5th, 2016. The service man noticed my front passenger tire was unusually low. He could have just put the air in my tires and sent me on my mozy way. But because the front tire was unusually low, he had me turn my steering wheel around several times. He thoroughly checked the tire and noticed the tread on the inner side of the tire was unusually worn. He advised me to make an appointment to check the wheel alignment and suspension. I brought the car in for service today, June 8th, 2016, and the alignment was way off, which means that (unbeknownst to me) my tires were not riding straight. I just want to point out that because of the thoroughness and foresight of the Firestone service man, he found the dangerously worn tire tread, which was not readily visible. Of course, he had no way of knowing that I am planning a little road trip where I will be driving 70 mph for several hours. His thoroughness possibly avoided a potential accident from a blow out, which could have hurt or killed someone else. Car manufacturers recommend wheel alignment once per year; Firestone recommends twice a year to avoid and prevent uneven and dangerous tire wear (there is no charge for the inspection at Firestone). My tires were wearing in places that are not readily visible. Good job and THANK YOU Firestone, 845 Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove, IL, and in particular, the service man who helped me with my tires on Sunday!! Bottom line, I'll be getting my alignment checked minimum once per year hereafter, or more if I hit a pot hole!! read more

I have waited to write this review but at this point I feel this location has taken advantage of me because I am a woman who doesn't know a lot of cars/trucks. I originally brought my son's 1988 truck into the shop because it was dying out. They must have jumped up and down when they say me coming. They gave me a laundry list of things that were wrong with the truck. I did the main repairs that I could afford and said I would come back when I had more money. A few days later the truck was still dying out. Brought it back, they said well you need to replace the alternator. So I did. Truck still dying out, took it back they said there was a fuel leak causing it to die so fixed that and replaced the throttle body. To date I have spent over $2000 and the truck is still dying!!!! Never get a straight answer, and they never fix the problem. I work three jobs and just want my son to be in a safe vehicle. I didn't mind spending the money to get it safe but it is STILL DYING!!!!! read more

I have been a long time customer of Firestone and always had both of my cars serviced mostly at the Orland Park location, which I've always had great service at. I moved to Downers grove last year and noticed a Firestone close to me so decided to try this location out. My last experience with them was terrible which was in January 2016 and I'm surprised myself I didnt write a review at that time. Basically, one of my cars was in to have a rack and pinion replaced plus an alignment and oil change. Numerous times I asked if they can Check everything and rotate my tires if need be. After days of my car being in the shop because they had to order a part out of state, which put me down 5 days with no car they called me to say they couldn't do the alignment because the rear calipers were locked up and told me I needed to replace them and the brake pads (on both sides) he said it would run me nearly $800 for that on top of the $1200 I was already spending. I said to the guy on the phone I could have sworn I had those replaced within the past year and he said no the brakes are worn and etc... Funny thing is I remember I had them done at the Orland park location. So I made a phone call and low and behold I had rear brakes, calipers and roters done about 13months ago and everything is under warranty and told me this guy should have seen it in the history. At this point I was a little tict off because he told me I couldn't drive the car unless this was done so I had called him back and informed him that this was all in the history and he said oh yeah I see it BUT had your rear left done and not rear right so you'll have to pay for that side. Eventually he had finally "seen" that I had everything replaced. Needless to say I felt like he was trying to scam me into paying for things that were already under warranty and even at that I question if I even needed these things replaced after dealing with this man whose name was Miguel. After all was said and done and paid my large bill I drove off and my car kept pulling to the left side. Every time I turned the car there was a loud grinding noise. I got out of the car and realized my tires were on completely wrong. They had put my 245 size tires in the front and 225 in the back (only on one side). And my alignment was completely screwed up! Luckily I was able to get it in to Orland park so they could fix this properly. In fact the reason I brought my car in was because suddenly I had a power steering fluid leak. They told me I had to replace the rack and pinion because it was corroded from the fluid. The leak happened on a Thursday night at around 6pm and they called me Friday afternoon telling me this. Was there really corrosion on this part in less than 24 hours? What kind of technicians do they have working here??? Careless ones! I did call this store back and they wanted to refund me 5% of my bill which I laughed about. From that moment I decided to NEVER bring my car back to this store again. Unfortunately, A few days ago I suggested my partner to go to Firestone to get her a/c checked out as they had a $9.99 coupon and her a/c had been blowing hot air. BAD IDEA! They called me about her car and said she needed $800 of repairs which didn't even include the a/c. They said she had a nail in her front tire and back tire and the back one completely needed to be replaced and front repair was $40. I decided to fix a lot of the things myself on her car because the cost was much lower than what they wanted to charge. So I declined all work. When I dropped her off to pick up her car she came back home with an $80 bill for an oil change and a/c check. Even though when I called the day before and spoke to someone about they a/c check and coupon they said no problem we will figure it out. When she checked out they declined her coupon because they said it was only for a "visual inspection"...whatever that means even though the coupon says they check for worn hoses and seals and also test for pressure leaks and contamination! They ended up charging her $40 for nothing. And of course the service guy dealing with her was Miguel...the same guy that gave me so many issues. I took my partners car to discount tire to get her tire leaks looked at and they fixed both of her tires for FREE and also said that the one tire Firestone said needed to be completely replaced wasn't anywhere near replacing. I will never do business with this store again. They have completely lost my trust and they scam their customers, especially women. read more

This place is the biggest rip off ever. Was told I need new brakes pads and calibers for both front and rear brakes for a cost of close to $900. I was pretty sure my brakes were fine so I declined their service. I took my car down the road to Merlins Muffler and brakes for a second opinion and the mechanic there did a full inspection and said my brakes were absolutely fine that they had more than 50% life on them. Please, please get a second opinion before you give them approval for any service work. It could save you hundreds of dollars. read more

I take my fleet vehicle and my 2 personal cars here. They tell you about things your car needs but Ive never felt ripped off or like theyre trying to scam me. If your air filter is dirty, they show it to you. If you have a leak or some issue on your car, they walk you out and show it to you. Theyre a full service garage, not just tires and oil changes. I wish they had wifi in their waiting room. Great garage though. read more

I called ahead to set up an appointment and get an estimate for how long the work would take. I arrived for the appintment 10 minutes early and was told that instead of the quoted 1 hour, the work would take 2.5 hours. Iasked them to skip the whell alignment aince they said that would save me an hour. 25 minutes after my appointment time (35 after arrival), my car was still sitting in the parking lot so I asked for my keys and left. read more

I wanted to get my brakes done before an upcoming trip to the Dells with my family, it was the the first time I was having them done, since I purchased the vehicle new in 2010 there was only 60k mileson the car no grinding, no squeaking, I was being overly cautious due to the upcoming vacatioin. I found a nice coupon for $99 per axle for brake pads and rotor resurfacing. made my appointment (cautiously optimistic) regarding the coupon. sure enough, I needed almost a $1000 worth of repairs!!!(he was kind enough to knock a couple hundred off, lol) When i stopped laughing, I told them I would be picking the car up in a few minutes. the guy acutally tried to tell me the the manufacturers try to cut weight out of the car by thinning the rotor surface during production. I must have had stupid stamped on my forehead. weight is taken out of rotors by drilling holes or drilling slots in them not from the surface of the rotors. It was my first time visiting this shop, and my last. I did the brakes myself for under $300 and that includes the six pack & new floor jack and jack stands! read more
