I was traveling through Virginia and staying in Fredricksburg for a night and I saw there was a Firestone shop three minutes from my hotel. This local Firestone had good reviews, so I made an appointment on the app for four services to be done the next morning. On my arrival, I identified myself and requested the four services. Two hours later, my car was ready and we continued on our six hour ride home. Later in the afternoon we stopped in Baltimore for gas and that's when I noticed an annoying scratch on the rim closest to the fuel filler cap. This scratch appeared 3-4 weeks ago and I don't know how it happened, but it bugs me because I see it every time I gas up. But now seeing that scratch on the same wheel location as before I got the tire rotation means that the Firestone mechanic failed to rotate that wheel. I was furious. I called the shop and spoke with Mark, the manager on duty. I explained the situation and how his mechanic didn't rotate my tires. But did he rotate or not rotate the other side?? Mark looked over my work order and saw how the original service advisor noted the tire rotation from my app request, but he didn't request the service to be performed. He acknowledge the failure, owned up to the failure and repeatedly apologized. He wanted me to come back so they could perform the work, but as mentioned earlier, I live six hours away. Also, FWIW, I have "lifetime" alignment, rotation and balancing, so there was no direct financial loss to me. Mark expertly defused my anger. Instead of BSing me, he owned up to the mistake and wanted to fix it. I understand that mistakes happen. I appreciate his honesty and the way he handled me as a poorly serviced customer. For that reason, this Firestone gets five stars from me. read more

I'm actually surprised to see so many negative reviews for Firestone! I've made two appointments in the last year for oil changes and alignments. I've had a great experience both times. The last time I was there on a friday they got me in and out in about an hour. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing car services. They do not provide any notifications if they cannot service your vehicle even though they confirm the appointment numerous times. State inspection service was the appointment requested and Firestone confirmed. Created frustration, and I will fully accept I was furious when I arrived and was told just to drop it off even though the store even seen the confirmation. I will give balance though to this location, I was furious enough to be asked to leave AFTER the front desk said even though confirmed, they can't provide appointments for State inspection. Notice I became furious due to breach of trust. Not giving a call from the business Firestone on Fall Hill Avenue before someone arrives for a 4 times confirmed appointment is not accounting for all parties time. BTW, called another Firestone and was able to receive an appointment later on in the month that is mutually convenient. I called and I'm guessing the manager picked up and she was very sloppy and didn't help me at all or anything was simply lazy. I made a good review for another place to fix my car problems and change my oil and said don't go to Firestone. I asked if she could fit me in to come in at 3pm and or in the morning because my check engine light was on and I figure my tire pressure was low too so I needed to get my car checked out. Got an appointment online this morning at 0800 for sane dat at 430pm. Showed up about 45 mins early & they got my oil change done in about an hour. They said they weren't busy at all so I don't expect it to ever be that quick again. I usually drop my truck off and come back for it later that day or else stay and work from the waiting room. Today was awesome. But overall the area looks sketchy and unsafe, however, inside THIS location was new and updated. Very nice. The bathroom & waiting room were clean. Staff was awesome. They answered the phones quickly. The gal asked me if I wanted "both filters changed out" (which I thought was INTERESTING because I know my truck doesn't have a cabin filter). So I said yes and asked if she could give ne the size of that one for the future when i swapped it out (to see what she would say). Did some typing and she corrected herself and kindly informed me that my vehicle didn't have a cabin filter. Apologized. Paid 117$ for a synthetic blend, topped off fluids, and filter. Asked if I needed the coupon n they said they'd just add it on for me no big. read more

I made an appointment at Firestone for an oil change. I like to purchase my own oil and filter as I know the quality of the product. I printed off a coupon for a $26 conventional oil change. I dropped off the car thinking no problem - they can make $26/keep their own oil/filter and I get my oil changed. I left the shop and got a call 5 minutes later that they could not use my oil and filter, but they could do a synthetic oil change for $90. I said no, thank you. Just do the $26 conventional oil change that your coupon offered. Over an hour later, I got called up to discuss tires, air/cabin filters, brakes, radiator and brake fluid flushes at over $1,300. I asked for an oil change. Fine, I'll take these recommendations under advisement. I purchase my tires from Costco and I have an inspection coming up. I'll discuss it with my go to mechanic who was busy today. Another 45 minutes goes by and I get called up to settle on my $26 conventional oil change. The bill has now escalated to $89. Apparently the engine needed an additional 2.5 qts of oil (however an online search says the engine only takes 6.4 qts/NOT 7.5 qts) increasing the price by $63. After a discussion, they did discount it down to $50 but seriously. If you enjoy games, 1.75 hr oil changes (with appointment) and upselling, this is your place. read more

I just found out they charged me DOUBLE. I'm paying off the credit card and heading somewhere that treats 15+year customers with dignity. My tire blew out on 95 North in the middle of traffic. INCOMPETENT. Came for an inspection only to have my personal property (keys on a key ring) removed from my vehicle, without being told. I discovered the missing keys the night after picking up my vehicle. I called and they acknowledged having them and claimed they "called everyone" to find the owner. I went back to pick up my item and asked why it was removed and the explanation was nonsense. First, I was told no keys cld be left in a vehicle so they were removed and placed in their safe. If true, why were these keys not held along with my car key FOB? There's no sign that says all keys must be removed from a vehicle (because, according to the man at the desk, they've had vehicles stolen?). There are thousands of inspection and tire stores in the general area - go someplace else because these people are the absolute worst. read more

We had broken down on August 10th 2024 and were in desperate need of help as we were 10 hours away from home and got a tow to this Firestone as it was the closest and they took advantage of us. We needed a full coil pack replacement as well as new spark plugs to fix a stabilitrak error in order to get home. We had to get a hotel and stay the night to wait for the car to be fixed. They charged us $928 for this service just to have it happen to me again yesterday, May 11th, 2025 in my hometown. I took it to the local Firestone there and the tech found that this Firestone in Virginia had given me a cracked coil and a cracked spark plug. Debbie was our service provider and Michael was our technician. Get service somewhere else if you want it to last and be worth your money/time unless you are as truly desperate as we were but even then there are other Firestones and providers nearby so please avoid this one. I was hundreds of miles away from home stuck with my vehicle needing a new starter installed. I know how it often works out when you're stuck with your car and many states away from home. You normally get hit with a much more expensive bill than you'd normally receive if you were in your home state. Well, this almost worked out the same way for me if I hadn't found this place. I had called 3 other places, two of which were dealerships & one regular repair garage. The two most expensive prices came from the dealerships and the other quote came from a repair garage also. They were all a lot more expensive than what I was quoted here at Firestone and what I paid here. They were all more expensive for the same exact repair. I needed a new starter installed which in of itself was a big job. I checked and watched a you tube video. Big job on this vehicle. They are very courteous, polite & very helpful. The shop seemed to be well kept. The waiting area was clean & organized. All of the staff was very helpful. I was quoted a general timeframe and they adhered to it very well. There were no surprises from the original quote. They are a fair place to do business with. I'd refer this Firestone to anyone living in this area. Good place & good people to work with. I can't remember if this is the guys name but I think it was Dave who I worked with. Hopefully I got it correct. Either way the whole staff was a delight to work with. The mechanics also. read more

My car broke down on the way to Washington,DC, 300 miles away from home. On Saturday evening I briefly expanded that there flushing engine check light and issues with the vehicle. DO NOT GO HERE....I scheduled an appointment online Friday evening, for Saturday morning. The site said they had the tires I wanted, but would call if they didn't have them. Never got a call and when I got there the tires I wanted were not there. While I was there the guy said they could have my second choice tires there Monday (Labor day), scheduled a 1pm appointment and the guy said the tires would be there. Showed up for my appointment and no tires. They were scrambling to get tires for me but kept trying to give me a tire I didn't want. That did not have a good rating. Walked into this place at 6:26pm 10/28/19 this evening because I realized I had a nail in my tire. So I asked the blonde hair Caucasian (older) woman that was working their front desk if they could take a look at it and take it out or patch it up for me. She then said "NOPE" right away...with a smile on her face and said they close at 7. MIND you they had one or two cars in their shop IF that. There was absolutely no reason they didn't have time to do that or even take a look at my tire. Instead turned me down immediately. So I then went to Pep Boys on Rt 3 and they took the nail out and patched it up for me within 20 minutes. FOR FREE! Smh. If I could I wouldn't even give Firestone 1 star. This place is AMAZING! I was having serious issues with my brakes that required immediate attention, and Deb kept this store open past closing to help me out. Within 5 minutes, my car was up on Jacks and they had solved the problem. My calipers were falling off my wheels because of negligence of another car care place. They tightened up all the bolts, replaced the missing one, and ensured I was SAFE to drive home. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ALL CAR CARE NEEDS!! Can't say enough good things. read more

After the Dealer Service Program I purchased for my Jeep ran out, I needed a place to get work done. It started by finding a place for Oil Changes, so I tried the local quick oil change place and was not impressed. My next oil change was done at this Firestone, and I've been going back since. To start with the staff has been very friendly and helpful. Add to that, the prices are very reasonable. In the last year, I have used this Firestone for Oil Changes, New Brake Pads and Rotors, New Tires, and, just recently, a 60K mile service. The prices have been comparable to other mechanics. Plus their work has a Nation Wide Warranty, and that's important for someone who travels like I do. All in all, if you want a good Mechanic, give this Firestone a shot. This place claims they can work on audi. they can't. I came in for a wheel alignment . They managed to get my cars adaptive air suspension stuck in dynamic mode lowering my car all the way to the Ground. The manager looked confused and tried to fix it. Place is clean and the older lady is super nice I went in for an alignment, tires and oil change. I got upsold on tires (even though the ones I wanted were in stock). I'm not mad, the better tires will last a little longer. The issue I have is the fact they tried to tell me my water pump had a "significant" leak and needed to be replaced and the outer tie rods had "play" in them. When I retured I asked if I could drive the car or did they think ot would over heat and the lady said I should be fine just dont go on a road trip. At this point I am paranoid and I know I cannot pay for more than what I originally needed to get done. They were pushy with the firestone credit car even though I mentioned several times I would not get approved. I asked how much play was in the tie rods and I could not get a decent answer because the mechanic that worked on my car was gone for the day. So a month later and 4 different mechanics looking at my car my water pump has no leak and no explanation as to my my engine bay smelled like coolant. My tie rods will need to be replaced but not until my next oil change. Note: I drive 6 miles total a day to the train and back. I suggest if you know what is wrong with your car great, by all means get it fixed here but dont let them try to tell you what else needs to be fixed. I am still paranoid about this water pump thanks to them and I'll probably replace it but not for the 800 dollars they quoted me to do it. I get you are doing your job but dont try to take advantage of someone who has a 10 year old car. So bottom line up front buyer beware. read more

Inspection: First car failed with loose ball joint and three tail lights out. Took to my mechanic to fix all ($150 cheaper than their quote), receipt in hand, failed again because lights not working. They called me because I wasn't there, still confused by the lights. I just had them replace the lights to save time and they charged my $15 per bulb! Stupid me took the second car in for inspection. It failed too with wiper blades (which I replaced last month) that were working fine. "They" say the blades were ripped, $25. It my opinion, they're crooks, probably ripped the blades. NEVER AGAIN. I made an appointment online & went in with Goodyear tires that I purchased elsewhere. I needed them installed and balanced which was $75 and I bought the complimentary check up for $21. I also purchased an alignment for $95 (which I didn't expect since I had gotten one about a month ago but they were right. My car felt wayyyy better afterwards). It took about 2 hours total. We went to Firestone for an oil change and state inspection. Our daughter drove the car back to her apt and the next morning her tire was super flat. I called and Jose (manager) sent someone out to pump up the tire and change the valve core. He was very gracious and a lifesaver since we don't live in Fredericksburg and our daughter wasn't prepared to take care of the situation! Great Service we will return. read more

Visited for an inspection - was told I needed $700- in work that was not necessary - confirmed when I asked them to "fail" the car and took it to another inspection station. Also, when I received the car back there were greasy hand prints on the doors and the roof support adjacent to the windshield close to the inspection sticker. There were grease marks on the door threshold and seat, floor mat has grease and the sticky remnants of mastic. I will not visit again! read more

These people are dishonest. I took my car in for an oil change and they told me I needed new tires. My car is only 3 1/2 years old and had fewer than 11,000 miles on it so it couldn't possibly have needed new tires. But I was too naive and let them snow me. They were so successful selling me things I didn't need, they went on to try to sell me a lifetime alignment. I'm 71 years old, so that one I didn't buy. read more

We had an issue with our car after these guys worked on it. Even tho the work they did was almost two months prior to the incident, and they could have easily denied any responsibility, these guys were totally professional and took care of us. The reimbursed us for the tow, the repair, the car I had to rent during the incident, and even some parts that had been damaged. They didn't *have* to do all that, but they did, and they did it with efficiency and professionalism. Firestone has won a new life-customer. Well done! read more

Firestone is well known to do excellent work. I got the value tires on my '99 Miata, but was a bit shocked for $36 to change to tail light bulbs to pass state inspection. I should have just installed $4 bulbs myself from the auto parts store a walking distance away. But out of convenience, I had the ASE certified mechanics at Firestone do the work for me. Three stars for doing a consistent and professional job - I would have given four stars but I felt like more than $30 for two little incandescent bulbs was excessive. Just my opinion. Overall, I say get your tires done here, but watch out for the "upsells." read more

LISTEN UP PEOPLE!!! Common Mechanic Scam Alert: Before my wife went in for new rear brake pads, she was quoted $167.90. Reasonable. After a "free inspection", the price went to $970.45 for "recommended maintenance", including the brakes! I rebuilt my own '65 Mustang, so I know this was B.S. I don't, however work on new vehicles. So, I call them while my wife is there. They tell me that one rotor is "broken" and they only replace rotors in pairs. **B.S Statement** Of course he can replace only one. ADVISE: I told him to give me back all old/broken parts. This way I can determine for myself what my car was doing. This scared him into retracting his claim that our rotor was broken! BECAUSE IT NEVER WAS!!!! He was lying to get my wife, who obviously does not go rotor window shopping before getting brake services. New Price with 25$ coupon: 148.35 with tax. ALWAYS ask for your old parts, every one, every time. Except for tires. 9 times out of 10 this will scare them into only doing what is required. Ladies, tell the mechanic that you will show the old parts to your husband! read more

I went to Firestone located in Washington State for 13 years and never had any issues with crappy maintenance practices or bad customer service. Then I moved back to VA and got to experience all of those at this location; although it took me several years to realize what was going on. After costing me several thousands in unnecessary repairs I decided to take my business elsewhere. This location preformed a transmission fluid change on my vehicle and after picking it up to take home it was making a metal against metal sort of whistling sound that it DID NOT make before that service was performed. I took it back up the next day to have that sound looked at and was told it was the wheel bearing; they replaced it for 400+ dollars. Sound was still there again; after explaining to them it still made the sound just with the truck in drive and letting it coast they put it up on the rack and said I need to replace all the shocks and all 4 tires for 1700 because their master mechanic...you know the one that said it was the wheel bearing...said this is the problem now! I asked how can tires make that sound when the truck is barely moving? He is a master mechanic so my input was invalid. I had them pull my vehicle off the rack and i picked it up. A few months later the transmission went out; the one they serviced and swore wasn't making the noise even though it wasn't doing it until after they serviced it. So 2600 out of my pocket and a lesson learned. Not all Firestone locations are like this but this is by far the worst automotive shop experience i have ever had and will never return. read more

Rainy day, came in to get my brakes/rotors replaced. Needed tires bad but didn't have the liquid to get it done. The sales advisor took his time to explain everything to me and I ended up signing up for a Firestone card and even though the APR is high, if I pay it off in a timely manner I won't have to deal with that! These people are scammers! Every time I go to them, I don't end up leaving without spending less than $300! I called them and asked them how much they charged for a tune-up, they wanted almost $600!! That's ridiculous, considering all they do is change the sparkplugs, and check & top off fluids! I took my car to my brother-in-law to change the spark plugs and only spent $17.94 for six spark plugs! beware, don't go to these people! They charge you double the price of what it actually would be to take it to a smaller mechanic shop! They don't care about their customers, they only care about making a profit! read more

Normally I would stop by my local Firestone off of Plank Road at Harrison Crossing, but they were booked for the day so I decided to give this one a shot. I went in to get a brake inspection for my 2002 BMW M3 to get some details on my rotors and pads before I decided to shell out $500+ on just front rotors. After an hour the customer service representative told me that they were warped and needed to be replaced. I started asking questions to figure out details to see if the widths of the rotors were within min. threshold, could they possibly be re-surfaced, or maybe even turned without requiring a full replacement. And don't get my wrong... if they need to be replaced, they need to be replaced. But I wasn't given any answers to my questions as the customer service rep didn't know them and didn't feel like bringing the mechanic out so he could answer them for me. An hour easily wasted and will stick going to my local Firestone if need be. read more

The company has very good warranty programs and price match on tires. This particular location does not live up to the standard. I started going to this location about 3 years ago because I had purchased their lifetime alignment and road hazard protection in another state. I initially had a lot of issues getting them to fulfill a promised timeline. At one point, one if the employees told me they were a first come first serve store, so the earlier I got there the better. I had decent service over the last year by showing up a few minutes before the store opened, and being the first or second in line. So much for first come first serve. If they take in more work than they can handle in a give day based in staff, and they will, you will be stacked up behind the people from the day before or two days before still waiting in their vehicle. If you are willing to drop your vehicle off for maintenance and come back to get it sometime in the next 36 hours, then this is a great place for you. I recommend finding a different place, maybe even a different Firestone. Today was the last visit I will ever make to this location. read more

My brakes went out on my SUV so I brought it to the closest shop by my house (which happened to be this Firestones). They were really busy so I dropped it off after 6pm and they said they would call the next day and let me know what the problem was (I told them there was no pressure in the break pedal and I could push it all the way to the floor with little/no braking power). They called the next morning and said my main brake line (front to rear) was corroded thru and it was going to cost $530 (360 for labor + 90 for brake line + 80 to bleed brakes). I asked why it would be so expensive and the guy said because in order to replace the main line they needed to remove the gas tank and bend the new line which is labor intensive and would take 3 hours at $120 an hour! OH and btw, all my ball joints were bad and I should replace them (for another $1500). I said no thank you and took my car home. I'm not a mechanic but I know a thing or two about cars. I jacked up and blocked my car and went looking for the leak. I found it in my REAR brake line which is NOT impeded by anything, let alone the GAS TANK . I checked the paperwork he gave me and right there on the estimate it said REAR brake line...why would he tell me the MAIN brake line was bad and give me a BS story about the gas tank and labor? Anyway, I took out the damaged line, went to Autozone and bought a new copper line for $10 and a pipe bending tool for $15. To see if I could save some time I went back to Firestone's with the old line and new line and asked if they could put the bends in it for me. The Front desk guy asked a mechanic who said it would take TWO hours to put the bends in the line AND they would use their own line (and up charge it by 100%), so yes, for $300 they could give me a new line with bends. I laughed my way out of there. It took me 30 mins to put the bends in the line myself, and another 30 mins to reinstall and bleed the brakes (with help from a friend). From start to finish it took me just over ONE hour and cost me $25. This place doesn't know what they're talking about and are only trying to rip people off who don't know anything about cars. Shameful. This is why people distrust mechanics. read more
