They repaired my tire but the experience could have been a lot better. AAA referred me to Firestone when I needed a tire repair on a Sunday, when all of the local shops I know of, plus Big O and Discount Tire, were closed. I called in and was told that I didn't need an appointment and they would work me in, but when I got there, the man checking people in said that without an appointment, I would be there until closing, about 4 hours later. Happily I was able to get the manager?'s attention and he said they could get it done in an hour or an hour-and-a-half, which was reasonable as busy as they were, and they did. The same intake person then asked another employee to check me in, a young man who was already doing two different things and was on lunch break, and that employee was very competent and courteous. As the only customer waiting in the office for most of that time, I asked the first intake person if I could turn off the (loud) TV but was told "We always leave that on," and there was no seating outside, so it was not a comfortable wait. I heard the same intake person calling people to tell them that their cars were ready, and he did a whole lot of upselling of recommended services (replacing a "three-year" battery bought in 2018, etc.), which made me glad that all I was in for was a tire repair. read more

Absolutely useless reservation system. I submitted a request for an appointment for the 1500 time slot. I received an email saying my appointment was confirmed and I should be good to go in! Sounds awesome, right? Nope. I came in about 15 minutes early and they said they couldn't accommodate the services I needed due to time constraints. You would have figured they would call me instead of me wasting my time driving out here. They said my phone number was entered incorrectly but the thing is that I use the app for the ease of use of making appointments and my phone number is correct! I've brought my other vehicle here several times. I'll probably come back here only because I have a lifetime alignment package with them on both of my vehicles but I won't be giving them anymore money for any other services moving forward. read more

This place is completely dishonest, steer clear at all costs. They told me that I had a brake light out when I didn't, always check for yourself here and get a second opinion from a dealership. Another time I went back they told me that I had an expensive brake issue that I didn't. I took my Prius into the dealership for a second opinion and it turns out nothing was wrong. They prey off of the older residents here in La Mesa and hurt the reputation of auto mechanics in the industry in general, what a disgrace. read more

They will show you what's wrong with your car if you request to see. I've never felt like they have pressured me into repairs or treatments that were not necessary. Great staff! read more

I feel obligated to write this review. The one star reviews below are so true! If you don't want to be ripped off, run for your life! It's obvious to them I am a woman who has no clue about cars. They tried to intimidate me. Told me I have to leave my car there and the bill is $1000. I felt I should at least get a second opinion after the shock for $1000. Got recommendation from a friend. Was told the same issues and fixed the same things for the price of $375 incl. tax. Firestone staff also told me I need to replace the rotors, change all tires, etc. Went to another mechanic and was told nothing is necessary. Basically, I got a 65% discount else where. Not only that, the guy who talked to me talked to his collegue pretending I could not hear after I rejected their recommendations saying "she doesn't understand". Well i get my car and notice after they do it when i shift it in between reverse, drive, etc it is really tight and was different than before. I figure its because everything is alligned. Not only did I have the worst experience in customer service, but even corporate is blowing me off. Stay far away from any place of business that the mechanic, Ron Lang, works at. Not only will he show you that you are inconveniencing HIM with your questions, but he'll raise his voice and cut you off. Management is terrible and their work ethic is the worst I have ever seen...and I bought a used car from a scam dealership once. Ron Lang is the sole purpose I will never return. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!! I was lured into this place when I found a great deal online for tires. It is a buy 3 tires, get 1 free deal that is still online as we speak. I printed out this coupon and went in to get this amazing deal. When I got there, we were told that this tire was discontinued 4 MONTHS AGO!!! How can you advertise a sale with a tire that was discontinued months ago?! The manager had nothing to say for this and only offered us a more expensive tire to buy.. which we definitely were not going to buy from these scam artists!!! read more

Absolutely terrible experience. Untrustworthy, untruthful, sales mill. We took our car in for a brake light issue and to change the oil. They sold us two tires, a diagnostic to figure out the brake light issue and an oil change. They estimated it would take 3 hours. It took 5. When we called them to see if the car was ready they said yes. We went to get the car and asked what was wrong with the brake light. There was no evidence of checking the brake light issue on the papers. They didn't do anything about the brake light and tried to change their story midway through to say we could not duplicate the problem. I let them know I wasn't happy. We are ready to sell the car now and today I noticed that these idiots put regular oil in the car according to the sticker on the window. We had used synthetic since we got the car 6 years ago and this was in the Firestone computer system. I also told them I wanted the cheapest tires because we were selling the car. The sales guy just writes us up for 70,000 mile tires and never tells me what he sold me until I ask and only after he presents us with the invoice. I made him change it to the 40,000 mile tires. They also refused to honor the Firestone tire replacement warranty for the old tires because my girlfriend admitted that she did not rotate the tires every time she got an oil change. I was so pissed off I could have punched each one of these jerks in the face. They are scammers!!! I called and later complained to the manager who was quick to point out that he was the number one Firestone in San Diego. This guy was a jerk too. He was like ohhh there was obviously a misunderstanding, or poor communication. He said bring the car back and he would inspect the brake light. I would rather eat dirt than bring a vehicle back to this place and waste my time while these idiots screw up my car more. I am reporting them to bureau of automotive repair. read more

They sold me an Interstate battery for my 2003 Subaru Forester at less than Interstate's suggested retail price. They checked out the alternator and the starter and made sure that it was just the battery that needed to be replaced. They did this in about an hour on a Saturday morning between 9 and 10. I take the Forester here for all its routine service and have been doing so for at least 5 years. I've never been unhappy with their work. I took my wife's Tahoe in for an alignment. An hour and a half later, I got a call from Tim at Firestone. He stated that in order to align the vehicle, they would need to replace the Pitman arms, trailing arms, hub bearings, and shocks. The bill was over $1977.00. I decided not to have anything done and went back to pick it up. On the way home, my wife called to say her A/C was blowing hot air. When we got home, I checked it out...the A/C belt had been cut! Called back to today and spoke with Craig, he said that "belts break" and that his guys wouldn't have cut it...BS! While in there, they were charging a family over $1200 for a brake job on a newer car. I will never take any vehicle there. this is the type of scamming that you see on the news. On a Sunday my wife picked up a screw in her left front tire. I would not normally go to this store but it was the only place open on a early Sunday morning. I drove in and the person at the counter looked at my tire and said he had thirty years experience and the tire could not be repaired. He did not have the brand on the car in stock and he quoted me close to 200 dollars for one tire for the CRV. I did not buy the tire and went to discount tire on Grossmont blvd. The fixed the tire for free. This Firestone shop has a poor reputation for a reason. I will never go there again! read more

DECEPTIVE WARRANTY! They REQUIRE proof of an alignment every 6k miles or its void which never the case anywhere else! Wheel alignments cost $50+ each, or a $150 alignment package is 'conveniently' provided by Firestone. Alignments are only needed every few years, unless you are off-roading or in a wreck. The Affinity Touring tires have a 70,000 mile warranty and at 42,000 all 4 have evenly worn out, so its not due to an alignment issue. Even with the additional $80 warranty, they will not honor their warranty. IN ADDITION, the customer service here has been so disrespectful, they have upset my girlfriend to the point of being scared to go back. Honestly, go Discount tire, or anywhere else, like we have now done. read more

I had a flat tire one day and came here to get it patched and balanced and took them all of 30 mins and then I was hooked. I just recently took my car in to get the tire worked on, little accident on the 8 last week and my front right rim was just destoryed and my strut was bent as I found out. So I am talking to Sergio there and he is probably their best one to talk to. He is very knowledgeable and works with you and will show you and describe what is wrong and give you all your options and what they can do to help you. They had my tire but not a replacement rim on site so he had to order it, but then next two days , was someone else working who were very incompetant. He had no clue what was going on much less any kind of relevant answer to my question about the rim or the status or if it was even on its way. Now I dropepd it off on thursday morning, and this is Saturday now and he has no clue what is going on, so Monday comes and I talk to Sergio and he is already on the phone that morning when I walked in and has the rim on its way there that afternoon. So for any work, I highly recommend Sergio as your guy. read more

I've been to this location 3 times now asking a million questions. Every time I've been greeted, and every time they've taken their time answering all my questions even if they knew there was no sale involved. My first two times here the general manager helped me. I believe his name is Craig? He took the time to go out and look at my car both times. The first was when my check engine light was on for a few days. When he went to go look at it the light was off. Instead of trying to talk me into a $100 check engine light service he told me it might have just came on because my car is an older model & to just come back if it comes back on. The third time another man helped me. I don't know his name, but he took the time to come out and help temporarily put a piece back on my car that was dragging and gave me advice on where I could go to fix it. This showed that not only the manager is friendly but the employees as well. Being a younger woman I sometimes get nervous about going to places like this because I feel like you can easily be the target of many scams. But at this firestone location I feel like I can actually trust the employees to have my best interest at heart and not my wallet. I will continue coming to this location and highly recommend this place. read more

I am very upset about this place. We have taken our car there 3 times for the same thing - a leaking tire after they were newly replaced. Each time they say they fix it and the problem is there. I have been going to this location for about 4 years, for oil changes and tires only; I can't comment on their other services since I've never used them. They are friendly and usually greet me when I walk in. The wait for an oil change is about an hour and a half when I go on Saturday mornings by appointment -- not exactly quick. I have them rotate my tires every other visit, which adds about 30 minutes. They have never damaged my car and take care in not getting grease on the interior...a big plus. The waiting area is really small, so if you have to leave your car there for a while, plan to have someone pick you up. Otherwise, there are stores and restaurants within a short walking distance. read more

Date of Service: 12/13. Worst decision I've ever made: The dreaded "check engine light" had came on and after being informed Jiffy Lube (who I always take my car to) doesn't handle that service, they referred me to Firestone across the street. Got in @12PM. I didn't have an appointment, so I was fine to sit and wait with my small daughter (came prepared with snacks and milk and the like, plus they have a TV= all good). Anyways, upon speaking with the front desk, he estimates the work to take "a few hours." Knowing mechanic speak (my father in law was a mechanic for over 25 years), I explicitly told him four to five hours is okay as long as it's not over five as I'll need to get my daughter fed. He says, "Oh yeah, it won't be that long." I was then advised that their specialist was on vacation and if the car required something difficult, it wouldn't get worked on for 2 days until he came back. I then asked where else I could take my car as that was unacceptable; clearly there must be other Firestone's who have a staff able to handle this same day. He agreed and said he would look those up for me; he never did. Took an hour before my car was hooked up to the diagnostic system, but what killed me is that it took five hours before they had an answer-- air flow sensor-- meaning no labor had even been done yet. An engine diagnostic alone should never take 5 hours. By this time, I've been trying to entertain my daughter, who's getting restless, and I'm unable to do anything as my husband works really long hours/ no friends or family in the area, so no one to pick us up. Given the time (5PM), I ask if my car will be finished by closing time and was assured yes. While we were waiting, I overheard the clerk comp'd a customer for a part they had been waiting on two days for due to their service lag and later chewed out for not getting it approved by a supervisor and later, the clerk asking everyone who walked in were asked to leave their cars overnight rather than try and get in same day. Meanwhile, my daughter and I haven't ate more than snack food all afternoon. One of the guys drove us to McDonald's in their service truck (which has no car seat so I have to place my daughter on my lap). I thought he'd roll us through the drive-thru so we could back to the shop. Imagine my surprise when he stops in the lot and says he'd call me within the hour to come back to pick up my car. Irritated and hungry, I advise him fine; my husband will be off soon so not a problem. Well, an hour goes by, and I call. He informs me they received the part and are working on it. Okay, finally. Well, another hour rolls by. It's now 7PM and I call. Clerk says let me call you back. Result: The part they've received is defective and I'll have to leave it with them overnight. He apologizes for the inconvenience but shifts the blame solely on the defective part, not the fact that they didn't start working on the car until 5PM. Fast forward the next morning: I call around 9 AM to check on car and am told it should be done soon. Fast forward: 3 PM rolls around and now my husband's home so I can get a ride to get my car. I call Firestone and check. The clerk says, "Yeah, it's ready. One of our reps called you earlier about that." I avoided getting smart and asking if he was referring to the 9AM call I initiated because no one called me/ call log empty. In all, took 12+ hours to replace an air flow sensor and $400+ dollars (a few dollars taken off for my mil. discount but no attempt to discount their error) and the icing on the cake was when I went out to my car to look it over, there were oil spots on the upholstery where no one had bothered to use a courtesy/ service mat. This shop is very inept. I paid my bill in full and vowed never to come back, esp. upon finding out there's a Pep Boys down the street from me that does free engine light checks (wish I knew that). My husband told me to Yelp this place and so that's what I'm doing. read more

I have been a long time customer of Firestone, and at this location for about 7 years. I have lifetime alignment so I always take it to them. Last time they told me I couldn't get an alignment without replacing the front bearings for $400+ because there was mud in them. I went to a local mechanic for a 2nd opinion and learned the bearings are incased and the only way there could be mud in there is if someone put it there themselves. Turned out my bearings are fine. Shady place I do NOT recommend ever. read more

Have a 2005 Hyundai Elantra. I still use the Hyundai dealer for service. However, the vehicle recently needed struts and power steering hose replaced. I got it fixed at this Firestone location and was able to save almost $300. Tim was very helpful. They also did a free courtesy inspection, which was very useful. I have taken my vehicle to this location on two occasions and my experience has been pretty good. read more

Called twice around 530 to ask for a quick tire change, due to a local flat. No answer upon both tries. Came in at 6, aware that they close at 7. The shop was closing down, and upon talking to the manager, he announced this was just a random day they were closing early and he had already shut down the system. No assistance, no suggestions of other nearby shops, and no common courtesy for two girls with a donut on their car. Very disappointing, but Pep Boys on El Cajon Blvd managed to quickly, kindly, and efficiently rectify this negative experience. :) read more
