I dropped my car off Saturday morning for a 10 am brake servicing appointment. Carlos was very standoffish and not very helpful during check in at all. I called at 2:30 and found out they hadn't even looked at it yet but that it was "next up." I called again at 4 and it still hadn't been checked out. I needed my car to get to an appointment at 5, so I had to cancel. My ride could only take me back by 4:30, so I had to wait till the next day to pick up my car. They ended up charging my twice as much as I was quoted with no financing options available to me. I gave them two stars because they completed the job, but I wouldn't recommend going here. read more

i hate to give a bad review over something that was so minor so take as you want and get your own service here and judge from there. Went on Saturday and needed to get my tire pressure corrected after the tire light came on and indicating low pressure. i asked a guy in the bay if i can get my tires filled and he said to go inside. i told him i just need the tires filled he said again go inside and I know it will be at least an hour wait. At that point i just left and went to a gas station and did it myself. Not sure if its me but i believe that i should be able to get tires filled a little quicker than that. Maybe next time i tell him to just throw me the hose! read more

I went out to Lucille's adjacent to the shop to grab a bite. 2 hours later I went back only to see my car unserviced. I took off never getting serviced. This was a total waste of my time. Arrived on time, handed over the keys, i was told it would be done by 4.15-4.30pm , i was skeptical abt that as i never got that quick response earlier from any firestone before so i asked - really 4.30? The representative saud 'yes' , i said 'ok, thats cool' . I went back to my wife who was waiting outside and told her that they will be done by 4.30 and she was also surprised. I visited them at 4.50 as i didnt hear back and that person said sorry we have so many cars today, we have not yet started working on your car. I said , really? Yet again. They get 5 stars for their honesty and integrity even without servicing my vehicle. I called them this morning to check prices for a brake job for an AMG and Carlos was completely honest and straightforward with me saying that for this kid of job specific to my vehicle he advised me to take it to a MBZ dealer. He could have said sure come on in and we can do the job and such, like a few other national auto repair chains that I called, but he gave me the advice that was honest. I went in here to get a mount and balance and the manager said it'd take 1.5-2.5 hours max. I come back after 2.5 hours and have to wait another 1.5 just until they finished my mount and balance and I didn't even get an alignment anymore because of their horrible judgement and customer service. The mechanics also are getting dirty in their clothes and don't put a mat or paper seat cover on my seats and got my seat dirty. For the price they charge, I'd rather go anywhere else and pay $10 bucks more to get it done the right way. read more

I generally have had great experiences with Firestone, so when I moved to Lake Forest I decided to try the location nearby when I needed some things done with my car. I experienced a plethora of issues while I was there. First, in my appointment request I asked to have my tires rotated, this did not happen. Second, I paid for a full car inspection, and whether many of the things listed in what's checked were actually checked I couldn't tell you. I received little to no information after the check on anything done other than battery status and tire pressure, and I paid $21.99 for the check. The invoice I received did recommend that I get two filters replaced, but I never received communication asking if I would like to get them replaced while they were looking at my car meaning I would need to come back in to have it done. Finally, I was charged for an alignment when I have a lifetime alignment warranty on the car and when I did bring up the fact that I remembered purchasing it before paying. I was told it wasn't on my record and paid again believing I was mistaken. I needed to drive back to get a refund when I found the invoice for the lifetime warranty I had already paid for. A few weeks later I made an appointment at a different location to have my tires rotated, get the recommended filters replaced, and get my brakes checked as I commute for work and had no idea if they had been checked last time. Only a few weeks later, I have been informed my back tires are at a point that they need to be replaced. It shouldn't have taken a second appointment to get the things recommended replaced, to have the things requested done, to not be charged for something I've already paid for, and if the tires are at this point now then a few weeks ago it presumably could have been pointed out to me that they needed to be replaced soon if not then. Only going to my previous firestone location of choice in Santa Ana on Tustin Ave, and having the best service did I realize just how abysmal the El Toro Road location was. read more

I booked an appointment online for wheel balancing. There was no appointment available for the next 4 days, so I called the local Firestone at El Torro to see if there was any that was available, but he checked and found that there was none available. But in an hour he called me back to let me know there was a cancellation on the same day and asked me if I would like to take it. I got my wheel alignment done in the same day. It was quick, took only 30 mins. The service adviser went over the work that was done and reminded me that in another 6000 miles I have a free alignment due. I made an online appointment for an oil change. I arrived on time and found that there was no parking available in the lot. There were even two cars parked in front of the entrance doorway. I have a handicapped person so I parked in front of one of the bays. I was going to move it after I checked in. However, an office guy in a red shirt with a black beard saw me and said, "Maam, you need to move your car." I said that I would. I walked in with my handicapped mother and the same guy asked me if I had an appointment. I said yes. He then proceeded to tell me that they were two hours behind schedule. I said that I could not wait that long. This is not my fault then don't take appointments! I think that the oil change was too small of a job and he made a decision that he didn't want to do it. I saw two employees sitting on break and there was one open bay. He couldn't get me in? He was rude and didn't even apologize although he made another appointment for me. I am NEVER going back there again. I drove 20 miles to get an oil change for nothing. This Firestone store is the worst. Don't go there. I have been to the one at the Laguna Hills mall and will go there again. They are much nicer and accommodating. I am contacting the Corporate headquarters too. This was really unacceptable. He could have called me to say that they were running behind but didn't. Don't go there. There are many other shops that want your business. They obviously didn't want mine. read more

I get to the facility they say I have to buy a new tire to put on the new wheel, even though the tire on my current wheel was a week old. This is called bait and switch. I would rank them 0 if it's allowed in the yelp system(minimum 1 star). I have bought the lifetime tire alignment service and dropped by my car in June for the alignment service, It's not until today late September (That's 3 months later) that I realize there are 2 caps not ever put back under the hood. I'll find a way to attach the pictures to this review. One cap should be for the break oil, the other cap is for the coolant. In other words, I have been driving my car with those 2 caps off for the last 3 months! How dare you?! How do I realize this? I forget the turn-off my light this morning and make the battery low, not able to start the engine, so I have to open the hood to jump start, then I realized those 2 caps are off! Why do I claim they are responsible for this? I checked all of maintenance records, the most recent maintenance is going to Firestone for the tire alignment(nobody else has opened the hood after that service). Why do I know they have done something else other than the alignment? Luckily I still have the records from them, they actually have done some other "service", "recommend" to do a few services, including change the break fluid, and ...., altogether $123.45. Either they are not able to reach me to get my approval for those service, or they just tried to remove those 2 caps on my car on purpose, how dare you, firestone?! When you finished all the "work", Is that your responsibility to make sure all the caps are put back? If it's not due to the jump start this morning, I have to open the hood this morning and realize this serious issue, I might continue driving like that, without those 2 fluid caps, fluid is coming out easily. That will definitely damage my car! I'll also file an official claim to their headquarter, how dare you doing business like this? read more

Took car in with sensor indicating low tire pressure. They say they checked the tire thoroughly and found no evidence of a leak, damage etc. Advised it was probably a faulty sensor. Tires only a month old. 4 hours later, the sensor comes on again and tire comes apart on the freeway. Stranded for 3 hours waiting for tow. Luckily no damage or injuries. Since they said there was nothing wrong with the tire, I assumed they would make good and at least replace the tire for no charge. Not this place. Wanted to charge me full price for tire replacement. I questioned whether they ever really checked it in the first place. Asked to speak with Dist. Manager but he's not available for a couple of days. Awful customer service. Go elsewhere... read more

Went in to get my 1998 Ford Explorer suspension alignment adjusted because it was pulling to the right as well as unevenly wearing out the tires. Unfortunately, after 2 SEPARATE attempts, they still could not get my car aligned but they still kept my money and claimed it was aligned both times. Been here for new tires as well as oil changes. They do have fair prices and I love how close to home it is or close to plenty of shopping so you can kill time when waiting. That's my only issue, an oil change can take a solid 2+ hours on weekends, not great if you are in a rush. I went here in the morning for a quick oil change for the first time at this branch. I was able to use their online coupon and the workers were friendly. Usually when I walk into shops like these I'm overlooked or set to the side but they treated me like a regular customer. The wait time was not long for someone who had time to kill (about 45 minutes). The best part of their service was their very detailed recommendations for my car: it came with the name of the service, description, why and what parts are needed as well as their own prices for it. I usually only receive a list of recommendations at other places and I don't understand why my car needs it but Firestone made it easy for someone like me to know what my car needs and why. screw this place, took a car in to get the AC system recharged last week and they told me there was a hole in the condenser and it needed to be replaced the total for everything was $500. Just out of curiosity I took it across the street to sears to get another quote for the same repair and they said there was nothing wrong with the ac condenser and they were able to recharge the system along with some other minor maintenance I needed for $124 out the door! I went to firestone to get radiator flush, tires, shocks, on my Buicks. The radiator flush was not done and my air conditioner stopped working. I think they caused the air not to work. These 2 buicks came from the dealership, the cold air was working fine. I told them about the problem, they said it would cost $540 to fix....Do not trust them anymore. I left it at that, and will not deal with them again... same thing happens with my escalade , had a brake job done , next day turned on my a/c... Nothing!!! Firestone stores seem no better than used car dealerships.....always something to get you in the door, then they find a number of expensive things wrong with your car....and sometimes scare you into thinking that "you shouldn't drive your car with those tires" or "with that thing that needs repaired." When I came in once for other work, they reccommended new tires all around. My previous set lasted 60,000 miles, so I refused to get new tires. I left that set of tires on, and they also lasted 60,000 miles or so. I was sucked into a lifetime alignment, when I took my car here a few years ago for some other work, and of course, a regular alignment. The car was in good repair when I took it, and thought the car would last for years. I asked the representative, Terry, if we traded that car in for a new car, if we could transfer the lifetime warranty to the new car. He said it would be transferred, and to ask for him next time we brought the car in, so we would get the alignment under that same lifetime alignment. Sure enough, when we took our new car in for an alignment, I talked to Terry, and he said they never do that, and after some hemming and hawing, the best they could do is give us a lifetime alignment and charge us the difference between a one-time alignment and a lifetime alignment. (Sounds like a new commission for the service-writer, huh?) The lifetime alignment is now the only reason I would go back. I have been ripped off by every Firestone store I have ever been to....sometimes they're the lesser of two evils, or just more convenient than other repair shops. You know that sound that's sounds like a twig is stuck in the wheel well or someplace underneath your car? Yeah, you're like oh s*it what now. I was on my way up to a German pub and had to pull over and find a garage ASAP especially since I found out that the threads of my tire was pitter pattering and making all that noise. A blow out ready to happen and then I'd be really effed. The way I found this place was almost like destiny. I was going to pull over to "google" tire repair garages in the area and stumbled upon this place by accident! Talk about the right place at the right time. As far as the repair went, it cost $100 for the one tire even though I need all 4 done and also found out that I need some other work done as well :( Overall great, timely and HONEST service. My batteries were dead on my chevy diesel truck so I jumped it and brought it in for what I thought was a battery problem (to be covered under warranty) they let me know my batteries were ok. FULLY CHARGED. Then they told me my problem was a bad alternator and that I needed to get that replaced along with my break fluid flushed and it was going to cost $600! Well that didn't sound right to me. How could my alternator be bad if my batteries were fully charged after a jump start and driving down the street??? I took it to a local guy (referred by a friend). My alternator was NOT bad AT ALL. And my break fluid was FINE! All I needed to do was unplug my ipod from now on. My truck has been fine and it has been a week. Either these guys are liars or they don't know what they are doing. Either way it's bad news and I won't EVER be going back!!!! read more

Tom and the crew over here get it done and are the friendliest bunch of guys. They get busy so have patience. They get it done and the prices are reasonable. They aren't the cheapest but they're fair and stand by their work and warranties. To me that's much more important than being the cheapest. I was waiting to pick up my sister from work and when I tried to start my car, click - click - click, dead battery (even though I just had it tested at one of those quickie lube places two weeks earlier - sigh!). Okay, what to do, call triple A? Low and behold in front of me was a beacon - a Firestone Complete Auto Care! I had never been there before but thought I would see if they had time to help. First thing I was met we a smile and the words "Dead Battery?" - Psychic! Jack came across the street and jumped my car with his handy dandy car jumper thingy. I drove the car across to the bay and he tested it with the real official device and gave me a printout - dead, dead, dead. He asked if I wanted to replace it - heck yes! I went in and the manager immediately came in and started writing me up. They actually had my battery in stock and by the time they finished the paperwork, it was installed! Okay, price. I was ready for gouge city. Lady, desperate, Halloween. The price was way less than I thought and the installation was only $15.00!!! I drove off a happy camper. SUMMARY Firestone did approximately $1000 worth of work for an A/C issue and their work didn't fix the problem. I later learned they advised the work without checking the car's computer first for any codes, admitted the mistake and offered a full refund, but after 4 weeks, have not refunded me and haven't updated my on the refund status despite my multiple attempts for such updates. AN INTERMITTENT A/C The A/C in my wife's car wasn't working properly, so I dropped the car off at this store to have it checked out. After performing a system check for leaks and freon pressure, the store called and said they did a system check and asked if I added freon myself previously. I said I added about half a can a few days before, but it didn't solve the problem, which is why I brought it in. The employee recommended reducing the pressure and I gave him the OK to do so. The employee called later and said the A/C was working perfectly again. Sensing this didn't fix the problem, I left the car overnight in order to start it again cold. The next day, I arrived, started the car, and the A/C, as suspected, did not turn on. The manager told me to leave the car so they could check it out. A BAD COMPRESSOR(?) Next, I got a call and the employee advised me that the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced. I gave him the OK to do so. NOT THE COMPRESSOR(?) Next, I got a call from the store advising me that the A/C was still not working and that another A/C part, the high side pressure switch, needed to be replaced. Several days had passed since I first brought the car in, but I authorized them to change that part. This took another few days, as they were unable to find a part that fit properly, but I got the call after replacement that the A/C was working again. After a week, we picked up the car and paid the approximately $1000 bill. A NEW PROBLEM The next day, my wife advised me the A/C was still not working and now there was an odd ticking sound coming from the engine. Assuming it was related to the work they did, I returned the car to Firestone and let them know of the new sound coming from the engine and the A/C still wasn't working. I got a call from the manager who said the engine sound was not related to the A/C and they couldn't help me with the engine problem. I understood and I told them to leave the A/C alone and stop work to avoid a potential damage to running the engine. A NEW MECHANIC I picked up the car from Firestone and took it down the street to a mechanic shop to investigate the engine issue. 20 minutes later, I got a message from the mechanic advising me of an A/C-related code he just got from the car's computer and let me know that it appeared to be a short related the sun load sensor inside the dash that controls the A/C. A week later, the mechanic shop fixed the engine problem, replaced the A/C part in question, and returned the car in good working order. BACK TO FIRESTONE I relayed the information my other mechanic found and fixed to Firestone customer service. They called the manager who admitted in 3-way call that they made a mistake and offered to refund the $1000. Customer service forwarded the complaint to the area manager who put a stop to the refund and demanded a full report from my mechanic shop on the A/C repair. I provided copies of that report to him as well as the receipt for the work. It's been nearly 4 weeks removed from the original work and the Firestone area manager has not contacted me and has not provided a refund. read more

The fourth day they ordered the part for replacement and find out they were wrong... FINALLY, USE FIVE DAY TO FIND OUT IM JUST RAN OUT OF GAS. WHAT THE HELL. And they damaged the bottom of my car!! In the past, I've gone to Meineke (used to be Econo Lube) on El Paseo - never again. I found out after the fact that I had basically been overcharged and I didn't like the long wait times. For instance, they have a coupon in the mailer for a $49 synthetic oil/lube/filter change but at Firestone it was $48 regularly. I spoke with Danny initially - SO NICE and helpful. I had been having problems hearing screeching when I hit the brakes and knew something was wrong on my 11 year old Dodge with 117k miles. I brought it in and Tim at the front was VERY helpful and knowledgeable and extremely nice. For $20 they did a complete auto check and let me know that my oil was leaking and that I need to get it steam cleaned but they don't do that on premises. They told me that I had to have x, y, and z fixed. My dad is in San Francisco but has been a mechanic and electrician forever, and I had them call him and he gave me his seal of approval. He actually vouched for Firestone's quality of work, even in the bay area. It took about 2 hours to get the fix on my tire rod and bushing kit removed and replaced. My car was aligned and my tires were balanced and rotated. And of course my oil was changed. They even saved the replaced pieces and showed me what was replaced and what had gone wrong. Now most shops probably don't give a care when they see a female in her 30's go in with car problems - they might write her off as stupid. Not these guys. I really appreciated that they educated me on what went wrong and acted like I knew what they were talking about! (I didn't - hee hee). I got the Firestone card which saved me about $50 because it's 10% off your bill. I expected to see a repair bill of about $700+ but instead it was $491, $440ish after my 10% off with the Firestone card. And you have 90 days to pay for it interest free. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOP. read more

My wife and I have been giving this place a second chance. Tom, the manager, is super cool and really going above and beyond to keep our business. I have been ordering my tires from Tire Rack and having them installed here. They always get me in and out. Most recent search for tires, Tom beat Tire Rack and the new tires are being installed as I write this review! Since my last review, I had a major complaint regarding their repair quotes. I had brought that to Tom's attention and he assured me that it would not happen again. I have been "testing" them on occasion by having them quote repairs that I know what they should cost. He has been honest, upfront and most of the time beating the quotes of other repair shops. It's nice to finally have the trust of the repair shop I really like! Like I said in my previous review, I have been coming here since 2004. It's nice that Tom and his staff has recognized that and is making an effort to earn my business back. It's working!!
