As I drove away I called them back to tell they didn't fix it there is still a vibration. The vibration was coming from the front. Now, all of a sudden after they had it the vibration is coming from the rear and the front is fine. My car began to malfunction, and trusting them, I brought it in. Before I even reached the counter, I overheard someone from the garage scream, "Here comes an opportunity." Red Flag. Once the diagnostic was done, I was told repairs would cost upwards of $10,000. I'm no mechanic, but I know manipulation when I see it. I asked for a print off of the required repairs and was told that "they don't do that". Feeling uneasy, I sought a second opinion. In the end, the repairs cost me $200. All I needed was a couple of hoses, and some spark plugs. It was crystal clear that Pep Boys was trying to take advantage of me. What's worse, I overheard a manager berating an employee for not "getting more" out of a customer. They didn't think I heard, but I did. On top of that, I was told by someone else that while they visited the shop they overheard a district manager discussing with their team how desperately they need to repair their customer relationships because so many people are coming forward about being swindled too. I'm sharing this to warn anyone considering Pep Boys, do not trust them. There are honest auto repair professionals out there. The people at Pep Boys, however are nothing but crooks. They do brakes and oil changes. That's it. They aren't mechanics. I learned from a former employee of theirs that the reason they charge so much for repairs that because they outsource the work to actual mechanics, then overcharge so they can get their profit. Let my experience be your cautionary tale. Don't trust them.

As I walked to the front of my car, I got down on one knee to ensure they had replaced all of my trim clips on my splash guard.( I did this because in time past they were not all replaced) As I bent over, I noticed oil pouring out from around my splash guard. I jumped up and ran to cut the car off. One of the techs looked over and asked, whats wrong? I told him my car is pouring oil out. Andrew was inside the building looking out, so I went in and explained to him what the problem was. At this time one of the techs got in the car and was going to start it to take it back in the shop, and the other tech yells at him. "Dont start that car up". Andrew went outside and had a dicussion with them and they pushed in back into the shop. Later he, andrew, came to me very apologetic and professional saying the oil filter was not tighten properly. I was frustrated, and dissapointed in what had just happened. I simply said, this could've been very bad if I had not looked under my car and drove off. He agreed and still apologetic. I told him its not your fault and I know you want things here done right. I hope this will serve to them as a learning tool to pay attention to detail. I will continue to take my car there because I trust them, however, I will contine to be very observant of what they are doing and check to see that job is done correctly. On Friday, 10-24-25, I took my car to have an oil change at meineke in South Huntsville location. When my wife arrived to pick it up, she noticed a large crack on the passenger side of the windshield. I immediately brought it to the technician's attention, and he called the manager, Logan (Anthony), back to inspect the damage. Once Logan came back into the shop, he took pictures of the damage and said he would contact me back the next day for a resolution. I waited until 4 p.m. the next day and had to call him myself. He claimed to have reviewed the footage and said "nothing happened," suggesting the crack occurred after the car was parked outside, facing a highway, and therefore they would not be take responsibility and would do nothing even though the car was in their custody. Additionally, they forgot to put the "oil change" sticker on the windshield, a small detail that says a lot about their lack of care and attention... I then requested the corporate number, which he said he didn't have, and would get back to me, which also did not happen yet. I later emailed Meineke corporate, only to be told that the locations are "independently owned and operated," and they couldn't do anything either. Translating to that being my problem after all, even though the damage occurred during the time the car was in their custody. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed by their lack of accountability and professionalism. If this is how they handle a and a relatively minor issue, I can't imagine trusting them with anything more serious.
