They installed brakes in my car. - 1 month later one was squealing so I had to come back for them to fix it (needed a new hardware kit). - Several months later the squealing returned. They took 45 minutes to tell me they heard no squealing, but my car needed a new air filter. - As soon as I pulled out of the lot I heard the squealing. I had to drive them around so they could hear it. The mechanic then worked on it and said he fixed it (a loose clip). - On the way home I still heard squealing, and also a loud rattling that I didn't have before. Ado was very helpful and honored the price I received online the night before as well as a $10 off coupon for alignment. The waiting area was clean and neat and all of the staff I encountered were helpful. I could see into the shop area and it looked neat and clean and not disorderly like some discount tire places. My wife and I have had numerous minor car issues over the past few months. (Dead battery, headlights/taillights going out, etc). This place is close to my office and I will always go here for routine maintenance. The guys there are always friendly and quick w/ service. I've never waited more than 45 minutes for any type of repair. It doesn't hurt them that there's a giant mall across the way so that you can entertain yourself instead of waiting in the office. read more

Went in for an oil change and a leak in the rear passenger tire. Oil change was fine but the said they could not fix the tire because the screw that penetrated the tire was in a bad spot. I wanted matching tires so I went over to Discount Tire. They were able to fix the tire and charged me 0. Hopefully it holds up but discount tire seemed to think there was no issue. I swore a few years ago I would not come back to this location. But, I needed to get my oil changed and wouldn't have time the rest of the week and it's location is so convenient to my work. So, I thought, surely it'll go just fine with it being just an oil change. And here I am again writing another review on this place and specifically on their dishonesty and how they tried to rip me off again, AND they over filled my oil..AGAIN. They fixed that part today, so thanks for that but I'll never be back again. I swear they go after trying to sell Females on anything at this place. Last week they did my oil change and told me I needed new struts; saying that the front left strut is leaking significantly. And the rear struts need replaced too not bc anything is wrong with them but I should because of the age of the car. Knowing how they have been to me in the past saying I needed new brakes when I had just gotten new brakes 3 months prior I knew not to fall for it. I told my husband this and he looked and first found that the oil was overfilled. Which is so annoying b/c this has happened before at this place. Then he inspected the struts and found that the front left strut is NOT leaking significantly. He said it is a LITTLE bit but nothing to be concerned about and the thing they told me about the rear struts is complete crap. You don't have to get new struts due to the age of the car. So took it there today to get the oil fixed. It's done and I go pick it up. The kid that went to get my paperwork, before even looking at the paperwork to see what I had been there for with my car says, "So did they tell everything that's wrong with it?" I gave him a confused look and I said, you mean how you guys overfilled the oil? He said, oh, ooh yeah, at least it was under filled and laughed. #1, that's not funny, over filling the oil can cause engine problems and #2, that seems to be the common thing to say that "everything that is wrong with it?" before even looking why I was there. The paperwork only said oil change and zero charge. What an idiot, was he going to try and lie to me about something else that is "wrong" with my car? NEVER GOING BACK HERE. These guys are liars and trying to get what they can and take advantage. I've told several of the women in the company already today since I've been back not to go here. A few of them said they had similar problems there!!! This isn't a coincidence! Everyone beware of this place and just don't go. avoid this place this is a cliche' in angry yelp reviews, but 5 months later i feel duty-bound to warn potential victims about this place i waited 4.5 hours to be told they cant do anything for me, opened a line of credit to pay for new tires they couldnt put on my car. i used fix a flat in my tire with a leak, and my mechanic friends got back to me saying "a lazy mechanic will refuse to clean it out to patch a tire, and they'll try to just convince you to buy a new set." -- THEY however told me that the sealer was incompatible and wouldnt take? wouldnt even explain what chemicals when i asked. literally shrugged and walked back to the garage to produce a pamphlet explaining why he couldnt do the much more expensive option of replacing my tires without charging me for 4 instead of 2 tires. even if i wasnt familiar the compounds, at least humor me so i can google it. the young lady who helped me was pleasant, but i walked out with a new credit line and 4.5 hours wasted. in hindsight, i should have driven to a dealer but was too tired. *************** i later returned to my hometown where they fixed my tire for $20 and waived the $20 fix-a-flat cleaning fee. its businesses like this that perpetuate the stereotype of dishonest car-service businesses. while i wont be surprised if this place is still in business, it could only be possible because patrons only go here when under great duress and have no other options. also emailing solved nothing, the customer line did nothing. overall flaccid, ineffective, waste of time. if you value honesty and your own time, take your business anywhere else read more

I went there Sunday for a all wheel alignment but needed an appointment to get in...I made the appointment for Monday @ 9:30 am...I take off work and shows up @9 am early...the guy at the counter would not give me an alignment...he said take it back to Sam's Club and have them rotate and balance them again for the 3rd time...and I did not get any service from Firestone and I will never go back there again nor will I recommend anyone to go there EVER!!!! Took my car in to get the two front tires changed. I made an appointment several days ahead of time. Dropped it off around 9 am and was told it would be done during the day. After 4 pm I was starting to get a bit frustrated that I hadn't gotten a call or any contact yet. I called back, no answer. Then called again at 6 pm and was told it would be an hour before it would be done. I got to the shop at 7:30 pm and found my car still parked out front untouched! It shouldn't have taken more than 30 minutes to put TWO tires on. They close at 9pm, so I'm not sure when they planned on getting to my car! We talked with them and they told us that they would start on it right away. We waited in the waiting room until it was done which was just before they closed. Changing tires should not be a whole day job, I will not be taking my car here again! read more

Took a 2001 Ford Explorer there to check on the A/C that was not working. Was told it would be ~$75 for the diagnostic check, and the total cost of the A/C (if it only needed to be recharged/refilled) would be in the $100-$150 range, and that $75 cost would apply towards it. Got a call back. The mechanic first explained that the problem with the A/C was more severe, and we needed to have the whole system replaced. Total cost would be around $1100. Yuck. OK, well, it is what it is, I thought. I was disappointed, as I was hoping the total cost would only be around $150. Then he proceeds to go down the list of EVERYTHING else that they deemed wrong with the car and the cost to fix it. $630 for ball joints, $50 for wiper blades, $1000 for new brakes, etc, etc. I hadn't asked about those things at all. Fine, maybe he was just "doing his job", but when you call a customer that is hoping for a $150 quote to fix an A/C, and you end up quoting them close to $5000 in repairs, that is ridiculous. Especially considering that I had not asked them for any quote other than the A/C cost. Of course, I told them no to all of it, paid the $75 diagnostic cost and took the car home. We found a part-time mechanic (friend of a friend) who looked at the A/C, and recharged it, FREE OF CHARGE, and it has worked fine ever since!! Not to mention (this quote at Firestone was done over 1 year ago) that NONE of the other things quoted by them have been replaced, and the car has had ZERO issues. I would be very leary on what this place is quoting you on, and the validity behind their "concerns" about certain things. Firestone helped save my car with sound advice and great mechanics. Although Firestone is a big name in the auto repair world but each shop is different with an array of employees all with their own specialties. Here is a quick break down; Positives: -Knowledgeable mechanics -Great service -Willing to get the right guy for the job -Open late Negatives: -Price -Overselling This was not the first place I went to with my problem, I was looking for new tires and an alignment as my tires were looking bad and the front end was shaking when I braked. However, other places I brought my car to would not even take two minutes to take a look at my car outside, they just wanted to have them bring it in the garage. At Firestone (this particular one) I did not even have to ask them to look at it, they asked me. A mechanic came outside and gave my tires a look over and explained what he thought was the problem. Like all auto mechanics they tried to sell me on a few other things. However, this time they did not lead me astray - at least too much. They told me I needed a new tie rod as the front right wheel could be pushed around when it was lifted. This turned out to be great catch and stopped by car from shaking (which I thought was from misalignment). Once it was fixed I felt like I did not really need the alignment any more as the shaking was almost gone. They talked me into it and I already paid for it so I let it slide. They worked on the alignment until they were almost closed but the guy working on it could not get the bolts loose as my car is a bit rusted. They told me that they would finish the job that night if I wanted but the person working on it was not the best at doing alignments or I could bring it in the next day and they would get the better alignment guy to finish the job. The second choice seemed better to me and it was nice they gave me the option. The next day the work was done quickly by another knowledgeable mechanic however when he got done he told me that there was still going to be shaking when I braked as there was a ding in my rotors. Long story short, they tried to sell me on a little more but when I asked how long I could go on they told me several months as I had almost new brake pads. Overall, I would say that this Firestone has knowledgeable and honest mechanics and I will most likely bring my car back for any future issues. read more

Brought in my car to get a tire rotation. Whoever I spoke with on the phone was friendly, but once I showed up I spoke with an older gentleman with glasses. He was in desperate need of some customer service training. He was nothing but rude to me when he asked me about my car and very rudely questioned why I was bringing my car in for a rotation in the first place. He talked down to me, and to make matters worse he was hard of hearing and kept shouting "WHAT?" very loud, and acted annoyed that he couldn't hear. I'm not happy with my experience here. Let's hope thing place trains their guys a bit better on their customer service. Until then, I'm not coming back. read more

This location tried to sell me a $500 brake job that they said was related to my steering wheel shaking. They said my break pads were worn down and the rotors were warped. Two other shops confirmed my breaks are fine. NO warped rotors AT ALL, and the pads are good for at least another 7-8 months. I believe they tried to take advantage of the fact that I am girl who doesn't know about cars. I generally try to give people and businesses the benefit of the doubt, but this doesn't seem like a gray area to me - either the rotors are warped or they aren't. This is very disappointing, I will not be visiting another firestone. read more

Got new rear brakes and rotor here a few weeks ago. Compared to other places they have good brake prices and decent tire prices (although I have decided to go elsewhere for tires). The only thing I wasn't happy with was the time, it took more than twice as long as they had originally said. Don't go here. I called after finding a flat pulling into my garage at work and said I have this no spare inflator kit I can use to re-inflate and limp over to their location. The guy said fine and we set up an appointment later the same day. After over an hour grabbing a bite nearby I come back expecting to pick up my car. The guy said because I unknowingly used this glue tank with the compressor I probably didn't need given the slow pace of the leak, I'd have to replace the low pressure sensor and tire. I asked why didn't the guy I spoke to earlier suggest that. He asked me what was the guy's name and when I said it, he said that was him. What the heck? I wonder if he was hoping I'd forget, but he still kept this poker face that was infuriating. I had planned on full tire replacement later in the year and shelled out over a half grand 6 months earlier than planned. But that's not why I'm posting this experience months ago today. It's because I am trying to replace the front brake pads now and found the twit that did the job over tightened the lug nuts not paying attention to the pressure and torque on his air wrench. I got this once before at an NTB on a flat when I could not put a spare on and had to call a tow truck even though I had a jack and spare. My local garage said two of them had to put a pipe on the end of a wrench and lean into it and had to loosen other wheel lug nuts so I would not get stranded again. read more

I needed a tire in a pinch and got exactly what I expected. I ran over a bolt on my way home from work and this was the closest place. They got me in without scheduling an appointment and told me they would see if the bolt actually punctured the tire to see if they could save the tire before putting a new one on. I could pretty much see I would need a new tire and that is what happened. The price was reasonable and the service was quick. I often dread getting an oil change because of the long wait. I came here and the man was so nice and helpful. He advised me to also get the breaks check because when he moved my car they seemed off. He was actually right because I do a lot of city driving and with constant "stop and go." I got an oil change and my breaks done right away and I did not wait much. Today was the coldest day in Chicago's History. Out of nowhere an alert showed up on my car stating that all my tires had low pressure. I hopped out of my car and with a -50 degree wind chill, I knew there was no chance I was going to be able to sit outside and take the time to fill up all 4 tires without getting frostbite. I saw a Firestone nearby, so I pulled in and spoke to a gentleman, named Fitz. He told me to pull into the garage and he would help me out. As I started to get out of my car he said, no just stay in the car and proceeded to fill up all of my tires, and when I asked what it would cost he said, not to worry. I don't take time to write reviews unless I want to help other consumers experience something great or avoid disaster. Firestone was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. My wife had an appointment to replace one of her worn tires. After paying $150, this Firestone put on a "new tire." The very next morning my wife went to get in her car to go to work and her "new tire" was completely flat. Instead, my wife took my car to go to work and I had to take a day off of work to get this tire fixed. I called Firestone at 9:15am. I asked to speak to a manager, I ended up speaking to a gentleman that claimed he was a manager, Javier. I explained the incident. Javier mentioned he would send someone to my house with a compressor to fill the tire with air so that I can bring it back to the shop. However,Javier mentioned that he could not send anyone until 12pm until his afternoon crew arrived since he only had one more staff member there. So apparently my wasted time didn't matter. Javier stated he would call me @ 12pm. 12:20pm comes around still no call. I ended up calling back and spoke to an employee who mentioned Javier was with a customer. You would think his first priority would be to address my situation, But no, instead I have to call HIM to find out what's going on. The employee stated Javier would call me right back. 10 minutes later I got a call from Javier stating he is sending someone to my home now and they would be there in 10 to 15 minutes. Sure enough an employee named Patrick showed up and filled my tire. Patrick was very helpful, he said right away the problem is a faulty leaky valve in the tire. Patrick mentioned this should have been checked and tested before it left the shop, clearly it wasn't. I get to the shop, and Patrick states they are going to fix this right away. I was expecting Javier "The Manager" to come out and at least pretend like he was concerned. Instead neither Javier nor any other manager even came to talk to me. Patrick had this fixed in less than 10 minutes. However, I was expecting a company of this size to not only fix my tire, but offer some kind of compensation for everything they put us through. Especially when it was their faulty workmanship, lack of attention to detail, and poor concern; that caused myself, my wife, and my 1 year old son.... inconvenience, our safety, and having to take a whole day off of work (Which cost me a lot more than $150). I had to be the one to ask the employee if I was going to be compensated for this...I saw Patrick go and speak to a manager who I could see (through the glass) sitting behind a desk. Again, this manager knows what took place and how upset I am, and instead of coming out and acknowledging me, he sends his employee back out to hand me a business card that they hand- wrote "Free Oil Change." I was so offended, I could not find the words that would justify what a joke this was, so instead, I started to walk out, Patrick asked, how that sounded? I replied with, "Not good enough! You have just inspired me to NEVER COME HERE AGAIN!" Why would I trust you with my engine, when you are supposed to be experts in tires and cannot even do that correctly? I would not trust you to put windshield washer fluid in my car, at this point, let alone engine oil. I immediately called Firestone Cooperate Customer Service. , they said they would have the area manager call me within 48 hours. This is another fail. Let a customer wait 2 more days after they completely screwed up. So here is what you will get from Firestone... 1) They will charge you a premium price for a tire, which may or may not fail you, or be safe. 2) The manager is too good to speak to you, so he will send his employee. You are not worth the manager's time at Firestone. Final though...I am the customer I should come first no matter what. I did not make you wait 48 hours to get my money, I did not provide only half my money, then make you take a day off of work to get the other half. You should be ashamed of your lack of service you provided and even more ashamed you could not take the second opportunity to make good. This location offers "snacks" as you walk in... I have a suggestion, instead of spending your resources on snacks, take that money and train your employees to do the job your customers pay for. Train your managers on how to address your customers when there is a problem, instead of hiding behind a glass and a desk. This is by far the most ridiculous to me. I understand things happen, I am not so much upset at the fact that I got a screwed up tire, and had to take a day of pay to get this fixed....I am more furious at how this was handled, after knowing this was their mistake. If they would have handled this like a company that cares about the business of their customers I WOULD NOT BE WRITING THIS REVIEW. Stupid Snacks..If I want snacks I go to Jewel, not Firestone. Great customer service both on the phone and in-store. The work was completed in the agreed time frame and price. When I had tires put on, there were no deals or specials, but price was still right compared to the other tire retailers out there. But what made it for me was the customer service and how they didn't push other services on me when I didn't need it done. Let me preface by saying that I really despise going to auto shops. I've had such terrible experiences that i'm pretty sure I have some sort of PTSD. (Not to be dramatic or anything.) Here are just a few reasons why I dread auto shops.... 1. I'm way out of my element. 2. I feel like because I'm a female, I'm always talked down to and always seen as a financial target. 3. In the past, certain shops have claimed to find something terribly wrong with my newer cars. They can fix it, but its going to cost me big money. (Insert smirk) 4. I've left shops after getting something basic done, only to have a problem come up a few days later. On a whim, I stopped by this location without even looking at yelp. (Something I never do!) I'm glad I didn't because some of these reviews may have scared me off. I realized that I was very much past due for an oil change, and wanted to get it taken care of asap. From the second I walked in, I was impressed. I was immediately greeted by a super friendly gentleman, who took care of me right away. In the past when I would walk in somewhere and ask the price of an oil change, I get quoted one price, and then when it's time to pay it's much more expensive because they had to use "special filters", "special oil", or " because your car is silver". (Just kidding, but you get my drift.) At one point a gentleman came out and said he needed to show me something. (BTW, I seem to go thru this anytime I get anything basic done. It's the worst feeling ever.) He took me to my car and showed me that the guys who did my last oil change (Walmart) got lazy and effed something up. He basically told me it wasn't the end of the world and that he just wanted to make me aware. No sales gimmicks. No "you're going to die if you don't fix this right now". He recommended rotating my tires for a few extra bucks and that was it. I ended up leaving with the price I was quoted, plus a few extra bucks for the rotation. The professionalism was top notch. I wish I was able to grab all their names. I think Jonathan was the tech, but I didn't get a chance to grab the name of the super friendly guy who checked me in. The bald gentleman who helped me most of the time was one of the most sincere and informative guys I've ever talked to at any shop. He didn't talk down to me, even for a second and he had me in and out of there in no time. I'm really hoping my next experience is just as great. :) read more

UPDATE: I have to hand it to Firestone and Manager Kevin. He stepped up with a direct phone call to me to resolve this issue. He was polite and to the point. It was a fair and the outcome was to my satisfaction. Of the Firestone Auto Repair facilities around the area this is the best. That being said like all Firestone they do what they all do...inflate the repair work needed. I have tested this on 3 separate occasions. All with brake and muffler work. I got 2 quotes my most recent visit for brake work. I took my Infinity in to the dealer for a recall repair. While in they gave it the once over like they always do. And they said it needed front brakes. They said with everything it would be $800. So I took it to my mechanic. He said he could do it for $675. He also stated that it does need to be done. The second quote seemed to be a $ amount difference you would expect from mechanic vs dealer. They both stated the same issues with labor and actual work required etc. for the brakes on infinity. So I decided to take it to Firestone which I don't like to do unless I have to for anything more than brakes and tires. But I do like their 6 months no interest for work. So I dropped it off. They called back 3 hours later with a quote of $1800. Now I would like to add that this quote is also with the lifetime Brake warranty I have for pads already from the last time they did the work. And I had a coupon for brakes $99 per axle. Yes I know that is conditional, fine print yada yada. So I asked why so high. He said all this other stuff is bad and it's leaking fluids everywhere. I said no. I said it has 200K miles on it. I'm not sinking that into it. He then cut the quote to $1200 and said I could skip the one bit but the other work is required. He listed off a bunch of stuff. Brakes, rotors but nothing with calipers. So I asked why so high compared to my other quotes. He said they didn't catch this other stuff. So I ask you, do you really think that MotorWerks Infinity Service department missed the work needed on their own vehicle? We are talking about a dealer service department. Everyone knows dealers ALWAYS cost more. And if you believe that the dealer missed it do you really think an independent mechanic whose lively hood is auto work missed all this extra stuff? I don't believe it for either scenario. I think Firestone is good for tires and oil changes. I think their work is average for the extras. And if I had more money to throw around up front I don't think I would ever use them for anything more than tires and oil changes. Now I can say that this facility is the nicest and one of the quicker over the FAC's in the area. I can say that it's nice to have it near a mall to help kill time or eat while waiting. What I won't say is that I trust them more than any of the other FAC's. read more

Tried to charge me 1000 dollars for a gasket leak and oxygen sensor i told them to just change the oil. I call in during the week to make an appointment to get my Oil change they tell me Sunday @ 12.00 they can get me in right away...I arrive at 11:40 am 20 mins early and they take my keeps and tell me they will be taking my car into the bay in about 10 - 15 mins and I said I'll be waiting so 12:32 my car is still sitting in the parking lot waiting to get to the bay this is 50 mins later after I arrived and has past the 10 - 15 mins I was told my car would be going in so I walk up to the desk to cancel my appointment due to having a life and the guys says I informed you it would be a hr or so...Really then What the F**k did you set up the appt at 12:00 to bring my car in and I have to still wait over a hr to get an oil change the BS !!! Why book appointment's if your unable to keep them at the time you set them up ? I find this very unprofessional and very misleading on Firestone's Part ...When I make a Denist or vet or Dr appointment at the time i may wait a few min's at most but really you make an appointment at Firestone and you have to wait over a hr for them to get your car into the bay to get the work done and your looking at a good hr or more to get the work done...so as I see it an oil change at Firestone could take up to 2 hrs waiting time...i took my car to Jiffy Lube after leaving Firestone was in and out with in 20 mins and it cost me less at Jiffy Lube then what Firestone was going to charge me and they are unable to replace my time loss in my life for waiting on being mislead when making an appointment with then and still waiting an Hour after you appointment time for them to get your car in the bay are of the shop...Over all rating for his location F- for being mislead and lied too ...They lost me as a long term Customer and Jiffy Lube is now my place of choice to get my Oil change...Do yourself a favor People if you want good service go to Jiffy Lube to get your oil change unless you have no life and want to wait close to 2 hrs to get your oil changed at this Place...they are not worth the wait or the money to get service at this location a total waste of your time .....This Firestone is the by far the worst place for service EVER !!!!! Recently I had my vehicle towed to this Firestone service center. I try to avoid going here after the time they tried charging me an additional service fee for working on my brakes. I asked what the service fee was for. They said to service the anti-lock brakes. I said "How can you service anti-lock brakes" when I don't have anti-locks brakes?". The manager just took my paperwork to his computer, printed off a new bill and handed it to me. Lucky I caught that one. Then in the most recent episode, I had a flat tire and needed a new tire. The tow truck driver dropped off the vehicle, and I knew when he picked up my vehicle, it had a hubcap on the tire. Later when I picked the vehicle up at Firestone, I noticed there was no hubcap. So I asked the person at the service desk. He claimed it came in without a hubcap. So I called the fellow that had towed it. He said the vehicle did have a hubcap on it when he dropped it off. And these hubcaps are bolted on. You cannot take them off without removing the bolts. I verified this by looking online. So when I called Firestone again to ask about the hubcap, the person there arrogantly claimed the hubcap was not on when they received the vehicle. And that the hubcap was not the type that bolted on. Despite evidence one can clearly see online. So if you have no other resort, and don't mind being overcharged or losing parts to your vehicle, this is the place to visit. read more
