I made an appointment over the phone at this location for a Saturday a few days ahead and expected the usual 30 minute wait. It was an hour and a half wait, so I would not come to this location again unless I had the resources to drop off my car because the staff noted this was their normal process time. Looking back, I wish he had noted this when I called earlier in the day to confirm my arrival time. I decided to walk to an early dinner at a nearby eatery to kill time. After asking the man on staff if he would mind giving me a call if the car was done before 1.5 hours, he looked at me and we locked eyes, then he walked away. I did not know what to make of it, so I walked away feeling a little confused and thinking the answer must be no. When the service representative met me, he'd told me that it would be a 3 hour wait at least. We left, went to Jiffy-lube and was out the door at 12:35. I realized that I was overdue for an oil change and went online looking for deals. Firestone had a coupon for $19.99 and they are literally 5 minutes from my house, so I called them. Tim said they could get me in right away, and they did. Of course they found a few other things that my truck needed, but I have a good family mechanic for car repairs, who always charges a lot less than places like this, so I declined. Still, they told me about a $10 off deal if I do their survey online, so I definitely will for my next oil change. The waiting area is clean and comfortable and they have free wifi too so it was a nice wait. They completed my oil change in under 30 minutes and I was on my way. Let me give you the good news first... they have a friendly staff. Secondly, their service was good the first couple times I went, and they offer good deals. The good deals are the hook. I bring my car in and they tell me that they are unable to fix it because of some problem they discovered that will cost me an extra $160 to fix. Some piece I "need" to get. So I say "no" and that I'll come back. I return 5 week later for them to do the job. They do the job and... low and behold, they find three new problems with the car. Three new problems that were not mentioned the first time. Case and point of when places like this begin the process of hemorrhaging your wallet for cash. I instantly call them out on it and told them that these are issues that NO ONE said anything about a month ago. Secured an early morning appointment to have two tires put on my car and was told to wait a few minutes while the customer service representative cleaned the waiting area. Take your time, I'll wait. I actually wanted to spend my entire day at a car shop. I was informed that best practice is to have my newest tires put on the back because it is better. I have front wheel drive and my other tires are relatively new, but alright. I was informed it would take 1 hr 30-45 mins. When I returned, I had to wait yet another 20 minutes. For a tire change and alignment. My car smelled like cigarettes and swamp ass when I drove off. I personally prefer something more fragrant, like lavender. Slow service, ill-informed staff. This Firestone Complete Auto-care location is a complete mess and liable to be responsible for a serious accident sooner or later. I went to this location on August 17th to have my vehicle completely inspected,my brakes done,my tires rotated and my tires realigned prior to a short road trip. I made an appointment and arrived at the designated time. However, there was still an 1.5 hour wait before my vehicle was even touched. Once the inspection was complete I was informed that the only problem my vehicle was experiencing was a loose tie rod end and an old engine filter. These recommendations were troubling to me as my vehicle is a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer and I had not gotten the brakes done since 2016 when I purchased the vehicle. Ivan(the manager) assured me that I had more than 50% of my brake pads on all sides so that I wouldn't need brakes for a while. I accepted this assessment as he was the professional. I was unconcerned about the tie rod end because several Firestone locations had given me this same recommendation but three separate mechanics from similar auto repair chains had said that it did not need replacing. Furthermore, when the mechanic, who also happens to be the manager, proceeded to demonstrate the severely loose tie rod end( as he described it) it barely moved. I did, however, allow them to replace the filter and I left believing that my vehicle was in safe functioning condition. Fast forward two weeks and my brakes are scraping horribly when deployed. Terrified that they will fail completely at any moment, I brought it to the Pep Boys near my home on the South side of Chicago. I was informed that my back brake pads were non existent and that my rotors were metal to metal. I had to get a brake job on my entire back axle which cost me $350. Had Firestone correctly assessed the condition of my brakes I would not have been riding on metal for 2 weeks and I might not have had to replace my rotors as well as pads. Furthermore, had my brakes failed it could have been fatal for myself and other drivers. I called this Firestone location to express my frustration with the poor and dangerous quality of their work and was unfortunate enough to get the same mechanic who assured me that my brakes were fine. When I asked to speak to the manager I was informed that he was the manager. He attempted to convince me that my hydraulic system had potentially failed causing my brakes to wear down to nothing so quickly. I informed him that that was untrue because if that had been the case Pep Boys would have been unable to complete the brake job. He then proceeded to try to make his lies believable by throwing in more unnecessary auto mechanic jargon that could not explain the fact that he jeopardized my life and the life of others because he and his mechanics wanted to get home early on a Friday. He offered to refund me the $21 that I had spent on my initial visit for the full inspection and filter. I will be calling corporate to ensure that this man and this location are reprimanded for their unethical and dangerous business practices read more

Drove over a random black object and punctured my tire! The dealership quoted me at 1200 for new performance tires and labor! My friends told me about discount tires and Firestone is actually cheaper! Frank, the supervisor and tire expert made sure to listen to what I wanted! He didn't upsell me on any warranties (extended) or any other type of insurance. I ended up selecting Firestone tires because they have a free warranty for the life of the tire! I also loved how they checked my alignment at no extra cost (even though the dealership checked it before). My car was done in three hours and the service was quick and making the appointment was easy! Will def bring my car back! Bonus points for Firestone credit card holders because you save 5%! DATELINE NBC "GRAND THEFT AUTO ON SKOKIE BLVD" This place is ripe for an exciting episode of Dateline, the program that exposes dishonest and shady operators. They are both shady and dishonest. I went in for an oil change and was given a four page estimate for over $2,000.00 for repairs that are were 100% NOT legitimate. Said that I needed a new shock in the rear because it was leaking oil. I wiped the "oil" off of the shock and its a Miracle!!! The shock is fine and no new oil has appeared in over a week. Coincidence? Don't think so, just a crooked money grab operation that pulled this crap on the wrong guy. The crowning moment was when I was told the wiper blades that I had replaced two weeks earlier needed to be replaced! I told him that they were recently replaced and he had the balls to tell me that the wipers must have been installed wrong! What does that even mean? What a Whopper! With that I calmly asked him to take my car off the rack immedaitely and not to touch anything. He then he got excited and pissed off insisting that he was not lying to me. As we all know when someone says that they are "not lying to you", means that are lying through their teeth! I paid for the oil change because I was told that they had already changed the oil, but the car would not be ready for pick up for half an hour? If the oil change was done why the half hour wait? Truth detector fail. They called me in an attempt to sell me on the fraudulent bill. Dan drove 2.5 hours round trip to N Ave during the 2021 February blizzard to pick up the tires I wanted, just to keep me safe on the road. It was a whiteout on the way to Firestone. As I drove out of the lot, I breathed a sigh of relief. I finally had traction! Firestone at Skokie Blvd and Dempster went above and beyond for me. They have my thanks and my future business. I have done business with Firestone in the past so I decided to take my car there again when I saw I needed a new tire and alignment. I called them a day in advance and one of their employees helped me get a quote and make an appointment for 12:00 P.M. yesterday (4/18). The gentlemen on the phone was very nice and told me it would take around 2-3 hours for the services to be done. I told him that this was fine and asked if I could pick it up the following day which he told me was alright as well. I received a call around 4:00 that evening from another employee who informed me that my vehicle was being worked on and that there were additional services that he recommended. I politely declined due to the price which he said was fine and he assured me that they were working on my vehicle. I arrived today (4/19) to see my vehicle still in the shop being worked on without any of the tires on it. I asked the gentleman (5'10, no name tag, black hair) why it wasn't done yet. Not only did he tell me that they hadn't started working on it until today, but he never made an apology, treated me as if I was the inconvenience, and proceeded to make excuses about why it wasn't his fault. They hadn't even started the alignment process and it had been 23 hours BY APPOINTMENT! Don't get me wrong, I don't mind if something takes a while, but don't quote me a 2-3 hour time window if that's the case. Also, don't take appointments if you can't begin working on the car within a reasonable timeframe. I'm beyond frustrated and they didn't even do the alignment in the end because I didn't have time. I've never been treated this way by an employee in my life... you guys really need to take a look at who you have as the face of your company at the front desk. If my car broke down in the Firestone parking lot I would happily pay to have it towed to an honest mechanic! While getting my oil changed at a different shop they informed me there was a nail in one of the tires. Since I purchased the tires from Firestone I brought it to this shop to have it repaired. They repaired the tire fine but then told me that my oil, which had literally be changed earlier that day, looked dark and needed to be changed. The guy was lying directly to my face and when I told him I had the oil changed right before he tried to blame the other shop. I would avoid this place at all costs! read more

If you care about the safety of your family, go elsewhere. My sister visited this location to get 4 new tires prior to moving across country, as well as an alignment check. The next day, 2 of her tires went completely flat leaving her on the side of the road! When the car was towed back, Firestone said that the valves had blown. They replaced the valves and 1 of the 4 new tires that was damaged. After leaving the location, all her warning lights came on and the car started shaking violently. Again, she brought the car back to the location. This time a different mechanic stated that the issue was that she had two different size tires on the car. Finally, the truth came out that Firestone had originally installed 4 wrong size tires. When they went flat, instead of acknowledging the mistake, the mechanic replaced only the 1 damaged tire with the correct size, leaving the other 3, which caused the car's warning lights to come on. This is either gross incompetence or complete indifference to the safety of their customers. Even though this mistake could have caused a fatal accident, we never received a requested call from a Firestone manager, let alone any apology from Firestone. Took it to a Dealer and they told us the part they replaced was leaking making it worse. Took it back and they tried to past it off as something else. So after another 3hrs or more got that part replaced but noise was d till there. Took to another mechanic and in less than an hour problem fixed and surprise less than $.150. All I've got to say about this place is that it is horrible. The staff is sleazy, dirty, and so quick to swindle you into paying for unnecessary repairs. They did such a terrible job on my alignment (if they even actually did the alignment), that I had to take it to another location to get it corrected. On my way home from work, I decided to get my wheel aligned. I stopped by Firestone, they quoted me a sale price of $179.00 for lifetime as long as I own the vehicle, normal cost is 199.00. I said Ok, but when they asked me to sign, they tacked in a $12 fee plus tax on the quote. They did not mention the fee at all. I had to ask about it. They said the fee is to remove parts and stuff, isn't this supposed to be part of the wheel alignment, it is like a Big Mac advertised for $3.00 but add another $1 fee for adjusting the buns when time to pay. This Firestone is a scam. Also I thought you don't charge tax on services, but only on parts. Needless to say, I walked away. Lesson is, ask if any other fees other than the quoted price. read more

Went in at 2:45 on Sunday, all bays are open but they are very understaffed. I needed a single front turn signal light bulb changed. Ishmael the manager said, they could not take me for a hour and half, did I want to wait? Me no but can I make an appointment to come back, him No. We have other appointments till 4:00 and close at 5:00. Me, can I come back at 4:15 or 4:30? Him, You can try but we close at 5:00. Me, So I m not sure what your telling me except you don't want to change the one light bulb? Him, yeah kind of. I think auto service centers have the bad reputation of trying to rip people off by selling parts and services that aren't necessary. I found this to be the opposite with my experience at this Firestone location. We took our car in to get 4 new tires put on, and a few days later one of the tires went flat on the highway about 100 miles away in Wisconsin. We were able to take it to a local Firestone shop up there to get things fixed, but they told us that the wheel itself was damaged - which could have only happened when the tire was replaced since it was just fine before. When we had time, we went back to this Firestone center and explained our situation to the Manager on duty. He was very kind and understanding of our situation and jumped at the opportunity to help us out and refund us the costs of the new wheel and new (replacement) tire. Ivan the manager of the store, has an enormous ego! If you do not know anything about cars you WILL be patronized, belittled, and disrespected. I highly suggest you stay away from this location, they will force you to do service check and not do what you actually want done! I simply asked for a quote on a catalytic converter and he simply would not give me it... He then asked if I needed the front or rear handled, I kindly replied the front. He then proceeded to call the front catalytic converter a different name and try to convince me I didn't know what I was talking about. After a few minutes I told ivan I had a friend that could check the car for me to make sure that it was the front, he then stated again that I did not know what I was talking about. Once he realized I was not going to crack on the inspection, he hangs up on me. I call back and advise him that I had not yet finished speaking. He then responds sarcastically "oh really sorry" he than goes on to tell me that he will not give me a quote and that he is denying me service and tells me to have a great day. First off I am someone who will never write a review, this is something that has never crossed my mind, but when I am treated like trash and that person being a manager, someone who has authority, I have to sit and question how did someone with a temperament as such get hired for a manager position. Firestone is located on the northeast corner of Dempster St. and Skokie Blvd. It's a large facility on a sizable piece of land and offers easy ingress and egress. I believe this is a economical place to have simple repairs or maintenance work done. Examples: tires, oil changes, shocks, struts and brakes. However, I would be reluctant to bring my car in for anything more serious or something requiring diagnostics. The staff has always been friendly and they haven't made any promises they couldn't keep. Their computer ticket writing software is good and retains contact information. read more

This location is suffering from lack of workforce due to Covid-19 to fulfill the demand of their regular customers. The guys at the desk seemed stressed and they are also suffering from lack of proper Customer service. I watched two people walk out in front of me, because neither person at the desk could break away from the phone long enough to let them know they would be right with them. The second lady wanted an oil change and they just told her they were booked today instead of asking if they could book her the next morning or attempt to make any accommodation for her. She was obviously frustrated when she left. When I got up to them, I was disappointed in what I just saw, so I expressed my frustration on why a simple tire repair dropped off at 6pm last night wasn't repaired until 1pm today and I still had to wait an hour to put it on. I will apologize when I return because the real reason I was frustrated was because my wife called road side assistance when she got a flat tire instead of calling me only a couple of miles away and then went on to work with the bad tire in her trunk, then showed up at Firestone at 6:30pm and expected them to fix it. These guys work hard and do good work, but they really need better customer service skills to avoid so many people just walking out the door. This location doesn't provide the best service to those who drop off cars. Its obvious that those who come in and are willing to sit there for a couple of hours get their cars repaired much quicker than those who were diligent enough to drop their cars off well in advance for repair.
