Went in to get a simple 19-point vehicle inspection. After a few hours, they said i didn't pass the inspection because I needed 3 new tires and new rear brakes. The tires made sense, but the brakes? Interesting, since I dropped $400 on new brakes just 2 months ago! Bottom line, these guys lie and waste your time. Ended up taking the car to the Firestone in Encino where they told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with my brakes. The mechanics here are crooks who tried to strong arm me out of $350. I will never come here. Also, when I got my car back, the gas tank was running on empty (I was at a little less than a quarter tank when I arrived). It seems like their "vehicle inspection" just entails a joyride around studio city! But hey, I guess mechanics need to run errands as well. Too bad it was on my dime. read more

The manager at this location was very rude. I asked him to honor a quote I got from my home town firestone's manager, who has serviced my family's cars for years. I had an official Firestone quote that was emailed to me and I showed him on my phone. He would not honor the quote and was not nice about it. Granted, it was an amazing deal. I will say that I have gotten a few oil changes here before and they are usually fast. But after my experience with the manager, I will not be going to this location again. read more

I had a flat tire on Ventura and we had it towed to this place. The next day a technician called me and told me I had two flat tires, both of which were due to damage on the sidewalls so the tires could not be repaired, they had to be replaced. He also told me we had severe ware on the other two and he recommended we replace all four tires. Little did he know that I had just come from a trusted tire place the day before and all four tires checked out just fine. I had the guy at Firestone fill the flat tires with air and I drove it to our trusted local guy. He checked it out, and not only did we only have one flat tire, it was easily repaired. Went to this place to get an oil change and they told me I had a hole in the sidewall of my rear tire and could not patch it. I decided to opt out of the work and get a second opinion. I went to discount tire center in Sherman Oaks and they showed me the puncture in the tread which can easily be patched. These guys are just trying to sell tires and don't have the customer's best interest in mind. Will not return. read more

I picked up my car and took it somewhere else. They quoted me over $500 for a carpart, and that was BEFORE labor costs. The car part should really cost 100-200ish dollars. So I picked up my car and took it to another place who deals with their customers instead of looking at someone new walking in as fresh meat. You must be laughing. Whenever I've had to come in for an emergancy fix, they always find a way to fit me in and get me out in a timely manner. This place is horrible. I was there last week for an oil change. They told me they didn't have the right filter so it would be and extra hour and a half. I end up waiting for two and a half hours to find out not only did they put the wrong oil in my car. They crammed in the wrong filter. How difficult is it not to be a total scum bag? The car wouldn't start so we called AAA. AAA came over quite quickly and troubleshoot the problem. It was the alternator. We took the car to Firestone on Ventura in Studio City. We told Firestone that we needed an alternator replaced. They said they will troubleshoot the problem themselves. 2 1/2 hours later, we get a call stating that we needed a new battery, alternator, air clearing filter and rear brakes. We told them the battery was 1 day old since we just bought it at Costco. They wanted us to buy their battery and return ours to Costco.Then Firestone started that it was too late in the day to order any parts. They would have to keep the car over night. We spoke to the person in charge on Sunday and he said we need an alternator but Not sure if he could get one since their warehouses are closed on Sundays. We got many different quotes for the same job from this place. We had the work done and went to pick up the car. The "salesman " of this place try to charge us for a battery test! He also stated over the phone he would Not charge us for the belt since there was so much miss communication to us. But that was wrong too. He charged us for the belt ever though the belt was fine. We took the car home and look in the engine area and found the parts covering the engine were broke off. As if the mechanic didn't know how to remove this piece to gain access to the engine. This was a terrible experience from start to finish. People lie right to your face and thinks it's ok. Honest business hire, honest people which in turn create loyal customers. This kind of treatment from this place proves they are Not honest and only want your money. Right or wrong!!! A lot of room for improvement!! read more

I have been taking my Honda CRV to these guys for 5 years. I am one of those Angelenos who drive A LOT. I put over 1000 on my car each month and the wear and tear is really tough on my vehicle but i bring to them for both general maintenance and those annoying break downs and every time they work to get me the best price, best service and best turn around time. i have never felt taken advantage of (despite not being a mechanical genius) and in the beginning before I knew and trusted them they took the time to actually explain what it was they were telling me I needed and why, before starting a job. The service here was extremely poor and unprofessional . I solely asked for a pre trip inspection, and the manager was very rude. No one initially approached the car after waiting 15 mins which prompted me to approach the counter. He then tried to blow me off by glancing at my vehicle for less than 10 mins and telling me I was good. I then probed, and he got a ridiculous attitude with me which resulted in him threatening to charge me $50. I quickly left and went to the neighboring Firestone on 4835 Lankershim Blvd which is less than 1.5 miles away and I got GREAT service. I recommend going to that one rather than this. Same franchise but better service and only charged $10. read more

I've been to this Firestone service center a couple of times for oil changes and tire repairs and replacement. Recently my car broke down a nearby busy LA freeway and I had it towed to this Firestone location for repair. I was called later that day and told that the issue with my car isn't one that they could repair but they referred me to a nearby mechanic that they trust. In the end I ultimately decided to have my car towed to my mechanic. However, the staff here are phenomenal and I really feel like I can trust them with my car. Harry, Edward and Vlad in particular are great guys who really know about customer service. If you find yourself with an automotive need I'd recommend this Firestone for their excellent customer care and service. read more

I had twoTires replaced today. Tires are good they rotated them with the old ones no problem there. But I noticed a bunch of scratches on the side of my car that were not there before. They said it didn't happen there. Also I noticed that there was paint touch up on them. They said they don't have touch up paint but it's right inside my glove compartment. I'm tempted to get it fingerprinted..... I'm so mad. The car is 2005 and has some dings and scratches on it that I'm aware of... But I know for fact these are new dings and scrapes. Not a big deal I just don't like being lied to. Secondly They also didn't include the labor and tax when I asked them what the total charges were. The guy said oh she should have told you when you called yes she should have told me over the phone. The mud guard underneath tire well was not replaced properly. But I fixed it myself. Sloppy careless work. Maybe because it was nearer closing time. Not sure but Not impressed. Don't say I didn't warn you. read more

On a steamy Sunday afternoon, visiting Studio City, the check oil light came on. Given the lack of options, (the lack of auto repair shops open on Sundays in LA remains one of life's great mysteries...), I wound up at this Firestone, with the intention of simply buying a quart of oil and topping it up myself until I could go to my regular mechanic. Instead, the Man in Charge (unfortunately, I didn't get his name) said that one of his guys would take care of it, which he did, immediately. The Mechanic had to put in two quarts of synthetic (not the blend or conventional, which are cheaper) in order for the dipstick to show an acceptable level. Then he checked the coolant, which he also topped up. Then I asked, "How much?". Both men looked at me and shrugged. The Man in Charge shook his head and said, "Nothing". I pressed, asked if he was sure... the answer didn't change. In good conscience, I couldn't just leave as I had come in intending to buy some oil, so I gave the Mechanic some cash as a tip, and thanked them both. My regular auto shop, which I love, and where I've spent thousands over the years, has never given me so much as a drop of free oil or coolant. Never. So, for this act of kindness, along with a simple job well done, and quickly, and for being open on a Sunday, this place has earned my recommendation. read more

I heard some weird vibrations from my engine so I assume that i needed to replace the sparks plugs since I never did, I drove to firestone and the guy gave me the price that was $150 cheaper from the other place so I left them the car, few hours after I called to see if I can come pick up the car, but he told me over the phone that the plugs are brand new and that that i don't need to replace them so I can come pick up the car NO CHARGE That how you get a customer for ever ! Overall, the work is generally pretty high-quality here. The store manager, Greg, generally does good quality work. One of the highlights is the lifetime wheel and alignment policy that one can purchase at Firestone. This is invaluable in cities like Los Angeles, where the alignment can often be disrupted. There is some pressure on the part of the mechanics to upsell. For that reason, I will give four stars out of five. I do think that the Studio City Shell just a few blocks away does probably slightly better mechanic work. However, for tires, wheels, and alignment, Firestone can't be be beat. Overall, Firestone does do higher-quality work and has better warranties/guarantee policies than any local dealership. I would go to Firestone over the local Mercedes or Chrysler dealers in a heartbeat. read more

I almost got talked into a lifetime repair warranty for my brakes, for just an extra $300... only my car is really old, has well over 100k miles, and I'll keep it another year max! I was here a couple days ago because a tire on my Bimmer went flat ;( I was ready to pay to have it fixed but was running late to a doctors appointment. To my surprise their manager went to look at the problem and ride away noticed that the valve stem needed to be tightened. Which he did then added air. So I was ready to get on my way in 10 minutes and they didn't charge me for the repair! So impressed with such customer care, I came back for an oil change the next day. The downside is that my car stayed there for 3 hours before they worked on it. Being so busy is a sure sign that people like them I guess. But still do not expect to be in and out of here very soon. Today, I went into this Firestone hoping to get my tpms monitor fixed. On the phone I was quoted $30-$80 to get it fixed including labor. I drove down to this location and dropped my car off around 11:30am. I asked how long the wait would be and the guy said about an hour. I left and told the guy I would be back. At 12:00pm they call me to tell me what the issue was and that it would cost $80 and I asked if that was including labor and he said no. He said with labor it would be $120. I am not sure why he quoted me $80 if it did not include the labor and it was way more than what I was quoted on the phone however I told him I would pay it and they could do the work. I arrived back at the Firestone around 2pm and they said did you get a call to pick up your car. I said no but you told me it would be a hour. The guy told me to give them another 30 minutes. At this moment I was pissed because I was told an hour and it has now been 21/2 hours and it still had not been moved from the place that I parked it. I decide to get an Uber home and they call me 15 minutes later to tell me that they could not fix the problem but that they would not charge me. Now I am heated and you tell me you won't charge me. I waited 3 hours for a job that took 15 minutes and you did not do anything but you are like you won't charge me. You didn't do anything, why would I pay you if you did charge me. I get there and he is like I think you need to go to Acura, they can probably fix it but we won't charge you. I wasted 3 to 4 hours of my time for my car to not be fixed. Won't be coming back here again. What a joke! read more

In short - the guys who helped me today are extremely kind and professional. They saved me time, money, and stress. Thank you Greg and Julio. I just moved to Studio City about a block up the hill from Firestone. My battery died yesterday morning before I left for work, and I park in a carport blocked-in by neighbors. So I got a ride to work and made an appointment for first thing this morning, planning to jump it when I got home last night. It didn't work; it was either too dead or just too corroded, so my (also very kind) new neighbor taught me how to replace the battery. I removed the old one and walked down the hill in the morning to just buy the battery from Firestone. They had a few options in stock so Greg, who was helping me, asked me where my car was parked and I told him just up the street. I said I could just carry it, but he offered me a ride to my car with a couple batteries to check which would work. Julio drove me to my car and he didn't just inspect and hand me the correct new battery - he placed it in and tightened it down. One of the bolts had somehow disappeared or fallen during the night, but he had a replacement in the car he drove me in. I was able to start my car and drive it back down to Firestone. I had told Julio I was planning to clean the remainder of the corrosion off with vinegar and hot water, but when I pulled my car in, he cleaned it for me with battery cleaner and showed me what kind of terminal protecting spray I could use every few months to avoid it corroding again. All of this took only about 20 min, and looking back at the bill, they didn't even charge me for the work - just the battery - which in itself was a good deal and had a longer warranty than Pep Boys or the other places I had called to get a quote from the day before. In summary, I won't be taking my car anywhere else while I live here. read more

So I'm a little more perturbed because I got some additional work done here earlier in the year because my car stopped while I was driving it and I had it towed here because I didn't have time to figure out other alternatives. Ultimately I was told that the alternator needed to be fixed. I got that work done and paid a lot of money but I still had issues with the car not turning over consistently on cold starts. I brought the car back here shortly after and left it overnight. Magically, the car didn't have the issue when I left it over night because they said they couldn't reproduce the issue even though every day before and since then, the car has had issues turning over. I took it to another shop today and they said they think it's the timing chain because of the way it looked. I didn't have to leave it overnight they just diagnosed it right there. I also Googled and all of the symptoms I'm seeing are tied to the...timing chain/belt. I'm just kinda mad at myself for spending all the money I have. The staff is nice and has always been respectful towards me. Between these two incidents however, I'm starting to question how much detailed attention actually gets paid to things because they may be getting so many cars, the attention to detail might be shortchanged. I might have had to ultimately get the alternator taken care of but the timing chain was never mentioned to me. It seems like this would be something that would get checked. The place I went to said it could be a pricey replacement. I would probably be less upset if I hadn't spent all the money I spent earlier this year on something I might not have needed. That money could have gone toward this. I hate giving lower reviews but when you are trusting someone with guiding your decision making on your car and you get misdiagnosed twice, it's disappointing. read more
