Unfortunately, after years of having great service here, that streak of luck has run out. Four days ago, on July 1st I had an appointment at this location to have a tire inspected due to a screw/bolt lodged in the rear right. I show up optimistic, as the placement of the screw and tread life didn't suggest the tire was irreparable, and everytime I have had tires patched here previously, it had been a smooth process. Always left satisfied, felt the employees were completely transparent, and they would always inspect the tire thoroughly. This visit, was a different experience. Not only was I told by what seemed to be the manager that the tires all needed to be replaced, the inner side wall had deteriorated, and my tread was at an unsafe level to patch the tire. He claimed that the policy at the company states they have to patch from the inside and the method they use would be too dangerous for the condition of my tire. Next, they did not remove my tire from the wheel, to fully inspect how deep the screw/bolt had penetrated. I felt very uneasy about what he was telling me, coupled with the location of the screw/bolt and healthy tread, both of which you can see in my included photo, I decided I would leave instead of purchasing new tires as the manager told me I needed to do. I decided that I would try one of their sister stores. American Tire Depot is a great company and up to that day I had always been a satisfied customer, so why not try a different location. Boy, am I happy I did! Just as I thought, the tire was completely repairable, tread life was healthy, and there was nothing unsafe about the location of the screw/bolt or condition of my tire as I was told by the manager of the Sherman Oaks location. After all was said and done, I am now extremely apprehensive about returning to the Sherman Oaks location. Especially after seeing a review about the exact same experience happening to somebody here six months ago. This was not a questionable repair in anyway. This was very cut and dry. My tire should've been patched on July 1 instead of the attempted money grab. NOT COOL. read more

I've got over a half dozen tire shops within a few miles of me, but I keep coming back to American Tire Depot because of the combination of great work and even better service. Huge shoutout to Chris and Alex for always taking care of me. The last couple times I came in were completely last minute with a flat tire, and even though the shop was packed, they still got me in and fixed my tire within a couple hours. I noticed the team stay past closing to make sure every customer was taken care of. You just don't see that level of attention and customer service much these days. Took our car to Toyota for a quick oil change and they determined that our brakes were very low and needed replacing. Dealer was going to charge an arm and leg so my wife called American Tire Depot and they quoted a good price (much lower than the dealer) and was able to take us in the same day! Left the car with them and was called ~4 hours later (the time they promised) and it was ready ahead of time. The car is running great and back on the road! Very disappointing experience that raises serious concerns about how customers are treated here. My mother-in-law, who is in her late sixties and works as a teacher for LAUSD, came in with an appointment Wednesday at 10 30 am... for what appeared to be a small screw in her tire. The object was located in the center of the tread, not near the sidewall or edge. She was assisted by the manager and a service advisor.. she was told immediately she would need to purchase a brand-new tire costing over $220. The issue is that no proper inspection was done. The tire was never removed to determine whether the screw had even punctured through. She was offered a "deal" on a new tire and was sent on her way still unsure and stressed. Concerned, she called me before agreeing to anything. I sent her to Chatsworth Tire (Big Brand). They removed the tire, inspected it properly, tested it, and confirmed the screw had not punctured the tire at all. Zero air loss .. no need for a patch even!!! They simply removed it.. tested it and everything was fine. This was not a judgment call. It was never checked by American Tire depot! Recommending a costly replacement without performing a basic inspection, especially to an older customer who came in with an appointment, feels careless at best and predatory at worst. It left us with the strong impression that she was being taken advantage of rather than helped. What makes this even more disturbing is that Chatsworth Tire removed the same screw and confirmed there was no puncture, no hole, and no air leak whatsoever. Yet this location told her the tire was not repairable and needed to be replaced. Two shops looked at the same tire and reached completely opposite conclusions, and only one of them actually inspected it properly. Had she not hesitated and called me first, she would have spent over $200 on a tire she did not need. That alone should concern anyone reading this. I would not recommend this shop based on this experience. read more

I've been a customer of American Tire Depot since 2019 when I moved to the LA area from the OC and was a regular to the NoHo store for new tires and tire repair for my Nissan Frontier. I had a slow leak in a tire in my new Hyundai and took it to the dealer, thinking they could repair it. Not! So I should have taken to American Tire Depot first. I had google searched "customer provided motor oil service" and this place popped up. I called to confirm and they verified. When I arrived, they were very friendly and professional. Upon changing my oil, they pointed out that my tire was in dire need of replacement (which it was) (picture provided). I would've never noticed if the car wasn't elevated: they immediately provided an option for replacement for $215 or said they can order a cheaper one and it would arrive at noon the next day. I wanted to keep cost low so I elected for them to order. The fact the provided the cheaper option for me let me know they weren't in it for the money but for great customer service. To my surprise, they told me to leave my rim there for the replacement and threw on my spare for me so I could get home! And mind you this was a little past closing hours. Wow! Next Day: I get a phone call at 8 am saying the tire arrived already and they were putting it on the rim I had left the night before. Excellent service. read more

TLDR: Wait time at this location is inconsistent; for an oil change, I was quoted for 1 hour, but it ended up being 2 hours. However, during the oil change, they returned my car in a better condition that I had expected. Well worth the wait despite the waiting area not being quiet or productive for working. Staff were present and available, though at times short. - - - - - - I've been to a few American Tire Depots, and I made an appointment at this location since it was closest to me at the time. When I arrived for the appointment, parking was a mess and disorganized. Despite coming early for an oil change, the wait time was approximately 2 hours (in total) for a 15-minute procedure. At the time of visit, staff were not readily available to help, and it took 15 minutes to be seen at the front desk. There was also no check-in area. In their small waiting room, there are several chairs along the wall but no tables. The environment is fairly noisy, making working fairly difficult. There also isn't much to explore around the block, especially in the middle of summer heat. Once my car was finished with the oil change, I drove home. However, it was not until the next day that I noticed the improvements. When I had brought the car in, I noticed a few issues that were fixed without having asked. First, they reconnected a bottom plate that was dangling; there were also minor issues with steering and noises - perhaps a loose screw? I'm not sure what it was, but I was very impressed with American Tire Depot being able to have fixed this without having asked, hence an improved experience from the first impression. read more

I had a set of tires installed on my Volkswagen and, although the service was great, they left two deep scratches on one of my wheels--likely from the tire machine or a pry tool. I made the mistake of not checking the wheels after installation, but I was in a rush to make it to another business before they closed, so I unfortunately missed the chance to bring it to their attention right away. Leo, who I believe was the manager on duty, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. He kept me posted with realistic expectations on when the job would be done, as have the staff during my two prior visits.
