Title: Extremely Dishonest and Unsafe Service -- Please Avoid This Location This review is for Firestone Complete Auto Care at 711 Erie Blvd E, Syracuse, NY. In January 2024, I brought my car to this Firestone location because my tail lights kept failing and I had a brake fluid leak. The older white male manager with grey hair inspected my car and told me that both rear brake calipers were seized, which he claimed was causing the brake fluid leak. He also said that a steering linkage connected to my left front wheel was "about to come off" and that it was "very dangerous." He then gave me a repair estimate of over $2,300, including replacing the two rear calipers, replacing the steering part, replacing all four brake pads, flushing brake fluid, and even replacing all four tires. I refused the unnecessary tire replacement, and he lowered the estimate to around $1,500, which I unfortunately agreed to. However, after the repair: The brake fluid leak continued, The steering still felt loose, And soon afterward, my steering completely failed, leaving me stranded at night. I had to call AAA and tow the car to another repair shop. The technician at the second shop inspected the vehicle and told me: Firestone never replaced the steering linkage they charged me for, They never replaced the two rear brake calipers they charged me for, They only replaced the brake pads, And they charged roughly double the normal market price for the parts they actually installed. In other words, this Firestone location charged me for major safety-related repairs that they did not perform. This is not just poor service -- it is dishonest, unsafe, and extremely dangerous. If the steering failure had happened at higher speeds, the consequences could have been disastrous. I strongly warn anyone considering this shop: Avoid this Firestone location at 711 Erie Blvd E. If you cannot personally watch the repair process, your safety and your wallet may be at risk. read more

I would not reccomend doing business with any Firestone. I bought 4 new tires in September in North Carolina. I got a flat late at night in Virgina. The kind gentleman put a plug in to fix the tire to get me home. I went to Firestone in Syracuse because I had the tire fixed it voided the warranty. They put a patch on the tire and sent me on my way. Now the tire is leaking again they refuse to fix it unless I purchase new lug nuts that I don't need. They were the last ones that took the tire off. I didn't need new lug nuts then. Basically they won't do anything unless I buy lug nuts at $14.99 each. Never will I go to Firestone again. These people are crooks, don't go here. I have a mid 90s Jeep Wrangler that I brought in suspecting I need new rear wheel bearings. Among a long list of other repairs they told me I needed, they said I need new axle shafts. They wanted to charge me $540 for the labor, saying that alone is a five-hour job. It isn't by a long shot. It's a basic c-clip axle setup. You remove the diff cover, take out 1 bolt, slide out 1 pin, take out the c-clip, and the axle shafts slide right out. Easy as pie. I can do that myself in under 15 minutes. Shouldn't take more than a half an hour if you've never picked up a wrench in your life. And for what they wanted to charge me for stock replacements, I could easily upgrade to chromoly shafts. Adding insult to injury, they quoted me nearly $100 for "diff service"--that's literally just refilling the differential with fluid. $67 for the "labor" on that! And they were going to use the wrong viscosity. That's just absurd. Needless to say I declined service from them I'm skeptical there's anything wrong with my axle shafts. I'll find out for sure on my own. A little advice to you Firestone, if you're going to rip people off, you do you, but don't try it with the guys driving classic cars. We know our ways around our rigs well enough to know when we're being lied to. read more

these people will sell you a arm and a leg if they can I booked an appointment to have my car served early in the morning at eight, and they told me my car will be done by one in the the I to the location and I parked my other car and went inside and they said they just pulled my car in 10 minutes ago when I at 1:30 to pick up my car I got mad and told I wanted my car back because they have not completed or done anything to my car. My car went in there for an alignment and they had the hood open for no apparent reason all of them just running around on the joking not doing their job also the day before I called and booked an appointment for my car to be taken in at 12 o'clock and when I got to the place to turn the car in to get an alignment, he told me I never made an appointment when I clearly spoke to him on the phone They have to get their business and things together and more employees guys are bad for business. They're just joking around and trying to charge you more money for stuff around your car that has nothing to do with what you bring it there in the first place do not get scammed. read more

I needed quick care for a flap that was bent and rubbing against a tire. The utterly charming and efficient Marcello at the front desk got me in quickly, the technician fixed the issue and I was on my way in well under an hour total to the tune of $30. Very happy! read more

If there's a negative star, I will give them five. Treat my BMW like ****. Dust mark all over my passenger side of the car. ( check photo for detail) Filed a report to Firestone company and got a call back from them ( I asked a call back for explain stood from manager, but the caller is definitely not manager.) making excuses. Making mistake is nothing, but it's not okay for avoiding taking the responsibility. They even said there's nothing in their store can make these marks ( which means they think I put those marks on my own car.) If you say you need it back by the end of the day you better be willing to wait ALL DAY. I drive a company vehicle so granted it takes a little longer to get approvals as to what the fleet company will pay for, but come on. I once dropped my vehicle off at 9am for an oil change and wiper blades and was called and told it was done at 6pm. I took it in again for an oil change and an inspection on my brakes that I've been having issues with. The had the vehicle 8 hours before they called and told me they didn't have the tools to do a brake job on a 2018. Thats fine, but do you think you could've told me this 8 hours ago? I got it back 9.5 hours later with no work done. They didn't even do the oil change. Days without my car are days I'm not doing my job for my company to its highest potential. I made an appointment for an oil change via phone with Tyler. He applied a coupon to the service which brought the price down to $30.22. I don't know what it cost originally. Their schedule was open with lots of availability. I was skeptical about this place from the Yelp reviews but figured an oil change is a simple enough procedure that can be done anywhere. They have phone chargers inside the waiting room and a TV. They also have a few kids toys. Tyler didn't pressure me into getting additional services. He informed me why my check engine light was on and told me measures I could take if I wanted to proceed with it. My oil change took 45 minutes or less so I was able to just wait in the waiting room. I made another appointment to get my fiance's car checked out and made it at 11AM on a Tuesday. I came in and they said they had no record of my appointment. My fiance made it with Brad and I was there when he spoke on the phone with him. It's free to do a car scan to see what the problem is when your engine light's on but it costs $100 to do a full evaluation (I don't know if that's the correct word). read more

One of my worse experiences with an oil change ever! The technician was tired and the main worker, angel, was not helpful. I went home to a trail of oil as well as multiple puddles from parts not being put back together properly. Luckily, my family caught the massive oil leak and suggested I go in and get it fixed before a trip to Pennsylvania. Overall if it wasn't for the current manager, Dave Russo, this would have been a barely 1 star rating and I would not have left until got a refund and someone being held responsible. Dave is great and really remedied the problem as well as kept me as a customer so if you have any problems ask for him and he will get it all figured out. I have gone to Firestone on Erie Boulevard since 2011. From 2011 to the middle of 2018, service had been good. But from late 2018 to the present, I noticed that scheduled appointments online have not been confirmed, Sunday appointments are inconvenient for state vehicle inspections, and weekday appointments for service can be cancelled without warning. I have a terrible terrible terrible story to tell, and I'll tell it day by day. Feb 27th, 2018 I went to Firestone at 3702 Erie Blvd E in Syracuse for a New York State inspection. After the inspection, a tech(his name is Sam) told me that there are three major problems within my car: the front right parking light is broken; the back right tire is completely flat due to a nail; the front wheel brake is almost in failure. And he told me they could fix everything for me at a price of 1076 dollars. Since I had a tire warranty with Pep Boys, I told the tech to fix all the problems except the tire at the price of 909 dollars. The time when I picked up my car that night, I noticed that the front right parking light still hasn't be lighten up. Feb 28th, 2018 The other day I went back to the store and claim the problem, at first the tech insist that he did change the light bulb(sounds like his job is only to replace the light bulb rather than make it work), and I told him I pay you money to fix the problem, and what you said makes absolutely no logic, as after you replaced the light bulb how can you possibly not testing on it; if you test it and it doesn't work, how can you say you've done your job. The tech finally agreed to give me a refund, however, he still insisted that he did his job. Because of the light bulb issue, I start to wondering if they did the rest of the jobs correctly or not, as light bulb failure is very obvious, but it's hard for me to know if they really replaced the brake fluid. Later that day I did a complete inspection again in Pep Boys, and the result is funny: my brake fluid is not being replaced, or partially being replaced(the test color is dark pink, if they replaced the brake fluid completely it is going to be white or light pink). What's more, the light bulb on the front seems like it has burned and sit there for a long period of time, which means there's no way somebody has replaced it recently. It is a scam. So basically Firestone overcharged me around 200 dollars for something they claimed they have accomplished but didn't, and if I'm not alert enough I'll never notice it. Now I still didn't get my refund for the Blake fluid fee, and I even doubt if my entire brake need to be change it the first place( I came in for a 21 dollars state inspection, There is 99% nothing wrong with my car, but end up be charged 900 dollars for car repairment). read more

Ripoff!!! My daughter went here today to have a tire replaced in order to drive back home safely, as one of her tires had a bubble in it. They charged $168. for 1 tire on an old beat up car. They gave no other options, and did not explain that tires come at different price points. They took advantage (I assume), because she was young and out of state. Called and was told my tires could be rotated in one hour if I came in right away. Got there in 15 minutes and ended up waiting four hours and fifteen minutes (!) to get my VW back. While I waited I heard them tell other people it would be an hour. To make matters worse they overcharged me ($110 to change four tires!). Would never do business with them again. read more

This place took my excellent condition 2002 Corvette for a joyride. Instead of driving it to the back and into the garage on their property a tech drove it on the side streets, around the building to the back. The driver stalled the car 3 times and then bottomed it out. When asked, a gentleman up front mentioned they do this with all cars for the NYS inspection. After speaking to a manager I think they realized a partial mistake and refunded me for the Inspection. I'm going to leave out the obvious subjective feelings here and simply say this place does not do proper work nor is their employee's professional by any means. Place sucks. I've been sitting here for 3 hrs to have my tires mounted and installed. When I had an appointment made a week in advance. They also magically broke the lug bolt off on one of my wheels and are saying it's my fault and want me to pay for it. Place is a joke. Where do I begin? My son, who is a student at Syracuse car needed an oil change, since he had a coupon for Firestone he went there, Big mistake! A $20 oil change cost $36 (hidden charges that I've never heard of) and that was just the beginning. Turns out he had an oil leak and me being over 300 miles away I advised him to have it checked. The recommended services for a 1999 car came out to $4800....Really! Practically wanted to rebuild the engine. They also wanted $52 to change two burnt out light bulbs plus the cost of of the bulbs, which it turns out where not burnt out at all. The list goes on and on... I'm not sure if they thought they would be able to get over on a young man or just an out right rip off place but I would never recomend this bussiness. STAY CLEAR... I just read the other reviews, almost the same story, guess I should have read them first LOL read more

These people will try and SELL you everything! Told a customer driving a 2014 model car that the oil pan is rusted! WTF! Oh and she needed a battery and two new tires! She came in for an oil change! Made an appointment for Saturday at 1pm to have my brakes checked out at the Cicero NY location. Took my car in on Saturday, dropped it off, and told them I'd prefer to pick it up on Sunday morning at 9am. The person working the phones, Matt, told me he would call asap with news on the brakes. Hours went by, and still no call. So I called them and they said I would need new brake pads and a new caliper on the back right side. They told me it would be done by 9am Sunday. So, I go to pick up my car Sunday at 9am and I waited TWO HOURS in the shop. After getting annoyed at this clearly incompetent and understaffed shop, I asked what the problem was. They said that "my car required a very specific caliper and they would have to re-order the part on MONDAY because nothing was open on Sundays". I had to find a ride, have them drop me BACK off a few hours later, and it STILL wasn't done! Matt told me to go pay for a rental (they didn't even offer to pay!). But since it was Sunday, no rentals were open. I am extremely angry because I dropped the car off ON SATURDAY so they could have ordered the correct part on SATURDAY and not waited! Matt admitted to me that they WAITED until SUNDAY to start my car.. after telling me that it would be done and ready for pick-up Sunday at 9am!!!!! I was furious with the service. Not to mention, they tried to charge me even more than they originally quoted me when they finally got it done. And the BEST part of all... MY BRAKES ARE EVEN MORE SCREWED UP THAN THEY WERE BEFORE I WENT THERE!!! They "forgot" to bleed the brake lines after installing the new caliper and I almost got in an accident because my brakes wouldn't stop in time! Worst service I've ever had. I needed four new tires and stopped in one Saturday to this Firestone. The guy who helped me was courteous and told me I could wait or come back, they could mount, and balance my tires within an hour or so. I did wait and it was as they promised within the hour. I was treated politely and felt the service was just awesome. I was told their was a rebate on the tires, which turned out was in error, the store credited my credit card the rebate amount because they had promised me it, with no questions asked.
