I will have to agree with the other post if we are talking about the same guy behind the counter. On my visit the guy behind the counter was great, he made me feel like a valued customer and I was just coming in to use my "Lifetime Balance", most other Firestone locations make you feel like you're a 2nd rate customer when you try to use what you paid for, but not here, I can't remember the guys name but he was really nice, he actually called when my car was done unlike other places that say they will but never do. He did try to offer me some other services but was not pushy in any way, it's because of his good service and the others working here that I drive from Valley Center to have my car looked at. I don't know who was manager at this shop before, but I do know Gil, who is manager now, and he does a fantastic job. I met Gil the first time I took my car to the auto service place where he used to work. He was extremely friendly, courteous, and patient when I asked questions (I ask A LOT of questions!), so I kept going back to that shop to get oil changes and minor work done on my 2005 Jeep Liberty. When I heard several months ago that he'd left to manage a Firestone I was sad, but luck was on my side and we reconnected here! I will definitely be coming to Vista Firestone for future oil changes since it's close to my house, and I trust Gil's opinion when something goes wrong. As a girl, there's not a lot of mechanics you can trust, but I've been luckier than most in drawing to me the ones that I can. I came to your location on 3/10/18, I had my breaks worked on. Upon completion of my breaks, I was advised that my hub cab ring was missing and that they could not install my hub cap. Well, my hub cap was in place when I arrived and it wouldn't stay in place without the hub cap ring. Needless to say, Firestone didn't take any kind of responsibility for their actions. The service worker advisor said it came in that way, which is not true. I have specialty rims and getting a replacement part is hard without buying a new rim. I will not be back to your location and I will advise my friends and family to steer clear of your location. read more

I called 15 mins before they even opened and a gentleman named Johnathon answered. He made me feel like this is where I should spend my money! I needed a oil changed and my brakes done. My wife and I just relocated to the area and he went out of his way to make sure I was ok with everything. He even recommend a awesome coffee shop down the road as well! Waited six hours to get an oil change a new battery and two new tires. They did not take my car back until 2 1/2 hours in. After another hour of waiting they tell me they do not have the battery in stock so I had to go to Walmart next door to purchase it. Will not be coming back. read more

I usually try to support "mom and pop" type places when I need an oil change, but due to my work schedule the chain places are the only ones open when I have the time available. I decided to try this place based on other yelp reviews. Went in during Super Bowl (Yes, I drafted this months ago and never finished posting it!) for an oil change and Jose was very accommodating. Service was great, price was right and I didn't feel the least bit pushed to purchase additional services even when I know I probably could have used them. Totally lost me trust in Firestone after going to the Carlsbad location. But Came here because I have a firestone credit card, and the life time warranty for my brake pads or rotors I can't remember which and also a life time of Alignments. This location totally regained my confidence in Firestone as a reputable company! Casy is really nice, friendly, and professional he totally smashed the competition on prices and won my business. Brian is the manager and he took care of my jeep. He was honest and even fixed a mistake that the other location in Carlsbad mad for free! I am in a touring band that puts a lot of miles on our tour van. We recently relocated to Vista, and visited this Firestone when our van was experiencing problems. The problems turned out to be major, and we were faced with the prospect of having to cancel an upcoming tour. Luckily, store manager Jose Delgado worked with us on a solution and saved the tour! We have been coming to this location ever since, and have been well taken care of each time. My husband noticed our car was riding funny and pulled over in the Firestone parking lot. We had just got the car back from getting repaired and he noticed the lug nuts were loose. The store was closing however the manager offered to help once he heard what was wrong. We could have lost our tires and had a wreck. We were just ready to head back home to Colorado from our vacation today and we heard a very loud noise coming from the engine. Our hearts just sank, for we are so far away and have a special needs kid. When I called Firestone and talked to Brain Mendoza and told him our situation, he said come right in and will take care of you right away. And he did!! For he knew the very very long trip we had in front of us. Brian was able to diagnose the problem right away and gave us low cost alternative to fix it. We are so thankful that he was a very honest guy and didn't take advantage of us . Given our situation, he could have easily took advantage of us. Heidi helped me in the office. She was professional and took time to help me understand what was going on with my car. With all of this COVID19 stuff going on, I personally feel uncomfortable going out to places right now. This location had hand sanitizer available and the employees were wearing their mask. Never once did I feel uncomfortable being in the store. Heidi made everything feel "normal" despite the circumstances and they took care of my car needs. I really appreciated her customer service. I purchased tires for my vehicle from Tire Rack and had them shipped to a recommended installer (Firestone Complete Auto Care). After the tires arrived, the installer said that they would not install them because they were not run-flat tires. I then had to make 2 extra trips to take the tires myself to another shop who would do the work. This should never have happened. I put all of the specific vehicle information into the system and both Tire Rack and Firestone Complete Auto Care knew which tires I ordered and the details of my car. There are several places this could have been fixed: 1. If they would not install the tires they should not be presented as an option on Tire Rack 2. If they were selected, once they knew the details of the car and tires and I set the appointment they should have flagged it 3. If it got all the way to having the customer there with their car, they should have made an exception because of the earlier misses. They could have presented a waiver as an option. read more

I was here the other day because I happened to be in the area visiting a friend who lives all the way up there. I decided to take my car in for a much needed oil change. The guy there, John, was absolutely awesome--I believe he was the manager around those parts. He had a filter for my car shipped there the same day and my car only took about 1 1/2 to complete. Instead of paying $225 at the dealership, I only ended up paying about $130, and that's all right by me! Swift service, and a very knowledgeable serviceman, who's also owned quite a few similar, high maintenance vehicles. He gave me some great tips and invited me back anytime I needed my car looked at. read more

They did a good job in June with my car, but when I went back two weeks ago for an oil change an inspection, I had to wait two hours and then the other day, my radiator overheated! First I took my car to Firestone, then Brian said it wouldn't be until the afternoon when they could take a look at it, and I was there when it opened at 8! I never had any problems with my radiator, but I assume that last time I took it to be serviced that they did not put coolant in it, which caused it to overheat and burned out my radiator. I barely made it to my dealership and they charged me $1200 to repair it, but I think I'll just have my car serviced by the dealership from now on. read more

I've been a Firestone customer for over 15 years. Last year we moved to Vista, and started going to this store. It has had a high turnover, as I do not recognize the workers very often. We took our cars in about once or twice a month as my husband commutes to work. The last time, and I mean the LAST time, we took our Truck in for an oil change and alignment. We dropped off the car around 12:30 pm. Around 5:30 we called to see if it was ready, as it seemed longer than expected. The tech said they just finished and we could come pick it up. When my husband went to pick it up the associate at the front, said we had an issue with our car. Expecting an upsell or recommendation to repair, however to our surprise, the tech working on the car had backed our truck into something in the garage. Our truck now had body damage that was on the rear passenger side and also damaged the bumper. We were told that they thought there was enough clearance, but instead backed our truck into a trashcan. They didn't even have the courtesy to call us when the incident happened, we only found out when we went to pick up the truck. Luckily they accepted responsibility and have agreed to have their insurance cover our repairs. This was completely reckless and careless and should never have happened. My 9 am appointment for an alignment and tires still wasn't even started at 2 pm, so I left. He lied and told me the cheapest pair of tires was 300 when I've always paid 160. When I called him out on it he then proceeded to find the ones I asked for. There's normally a manager named Brian who is really nice and friendly. Today I dealt with Herb who made me hate the entire process with his constant price jumbling and overall untrustworthiness. Dishonest staff who try to sell you goods and services you don't need. Brought car in for oil change and tire rotation. They insisted car needed much more costly synthetic oil even though owner's manual clearly states that conventional oil is recommended. They then refused to do the oil change if we didn't go with synthetic. On top of that they refused to do tire rotation stating that car needed 2 new tires. The current tires are less than 2 years old. They try to strong-arm customers into buying more expensive services and unneeded items. We will never return. read more

I purchased new tires and an alignment from this Firestone shop about six months ago. Since then I have experienced (what I thought) was excessive gripping of the tires while making sharp turns and going around curves. This got progressively worse and stupid me did not think to take it back right away, writing it off as having to do with the new tire tread. I took the car back to Firestone yesterday to have them look at what the issue was. They told me that I would need a new ball joint--costing $525. A little pricey, I thought...so I called the dealership and asked for a quote for the same work...$320. Now I didn't trust Firestone and to make matters worse, they were audibly upset and rude when I informed them I was not going to have them do the work. I went to B&D Auto Repair where I was told the ball joint was only loose and could be fixed for $65 and HAD I needed a new ball joint it would only have been $120. Do your homework and don't under any circumstances do business with Firestone in Vista. read more

The service guy was very nice here and seemed knowledgeable, the problem is that you cant really trust them. When I took my 05 Tacoma in because of an engine light they told me that I needed to replace all 4 of my catalytic converters at $1800 a piece including the MAF sensors. Thats over $7K to fix an engine light problem. I did some research and found out that my truck only has 2 Cats. I took it to Toyota of Carlsbad who fixed the problem for $1900. Still a lot but better than $7k. You would think they would know such things. The problem is they charged me $100 to tell me this BS about 4 cats. I give them 2 stars because Im feeling generous and at least they honored my life time alignment. read more

It was a Saturday, and it took three hours to rotate tires (three hours!!!!). Tried to sell me some hose and gas flush stuff. That's ridiculous. Part of the reason I bought Firestone tires was so that I could get the rotation for free, but if it takes three hours, then I would just rather pay a few dollars elsewhere to take care of it. The Firestone location in Santa Monica gets pretty poor reviews as well I think. When I used to live out in Redlands, that Firestone always treated me well. In other parts of the country I've also had good luck with Firestone. But not this one. Based on my experience, I'm staying away from here. read more

Awesome customer service!!! I had a great experience more than once. The first time I needed Auto repairs I needed quite a few things done to my poor car. I had just replaced the transmission with someone else and got out of Firestone happy and my car running very smoothly with new tires, oil, battery and a new axle. This time my other car had a nail in the tire and they were old anyway so they recommended getting a new set rather than just repairing it. I was very stressed and had a rough week. Gilbert help me, he was so kind and told me he would do whatever he could to get my car back on the road as quickly and economically as possible. I felt some relief when he gave me my estimate and the time frame. I went shopping at the Walmart right next door and when I came back Gilbert even asked if I had anything that needed to be refrigerated while they finished up. Firestone vista is awesome! Brian helped me out today in getting a new tire. Unfortunately the tire that needed to be replaced I didn't have warranty on here so I needed to pay full price and couldn't afford the tire. We applied for financing and I didn't get approved, but he helped me out so much by giving me a discount on the tire and getting me the warranty on the tire also, so I was able to afford it and not completely break the bank. I felt compelled to write this commentary after my recent experience at the Firestone Complete Auto Care Center on University Drive in Vista. It was my first time at this location since I usually take my vehicle to the Hacienda Drive location. At first I was greeted by Ryan, who I must say was pleasant. I was credited with a $10 oil change after I was overcharged on a service at the Hacienda Drive location back in October of 2019. I asked Ryan if they would honor my credit and he indicated that he needed to check with his store manager, Brian Mendoza. Soon, Brian Mendoza arrived and in a defensive posture he quickly indicated that giving me the oil change for $10 would reflect negatively on his store. I quickly answered and informed him that I had already paid a large portion of the oil service after I had been overcharged on a previous visit. I asked him if I should take my vehicle to the Hacienda Drive location, and he stated that wasn't necessary and that he would honor the service. I also purchased a lifetime balance and rotation and a complete vehicle inspection, which the total price amounted to just shy of $100. Approximately 1 hour later i received a call from Brian Mendoza informing me that the oil pan screw had stripped and would require a new replacement at a cost of slightly under $900. I was absolutely dumbfounded and felt Mr. Mendoza was covering up and erroneous act by one of his employees and was using me to pay for that error. When I scoffed at the amount for replacement he quickly indicated that I can get a Firestone Credit Card and pay the aforementioned amount in 6 months with no interest. I told Mr. Mendoza that I would pick up my vehicle with a tow truck and take it elsewhere, since his direct ineptitude rendered my vehicle inoperable. I then received a phone call from Ryan, who asked if I still wanted the wheel alignment performed, and since I had a lifetime alignment already in place I indicated to Ryan to perform that service, and no other service. I called Ryan shortly thereafter to get an indicated time of when my vehicle would be ready. Ryan indicated that the tires were being balanced and told him that I had canceled that service earlier, and he vow not to charge for the balancing service. Once at the Firestone counter to pick up my car on a tow truck I was informed by Brian Mendoza that he was charging me for the balance of the tires ($77) and the complete auto inspection check ($10). I informed that Ryan had waived the balance of the tires fee, since I had canceled that service. Brian Mendoza appeared upset and I can feel the uneasiness of his attitude changing as he indicated in a condescending fashion "I guess I have to pay my guys." I was charged $10 for the vehicle inspection check, which was never presented to me by Brian Mendoza until I received paperwork. Brian Mendoza quickly turned his back, while I was still at the counter, and began walking away without one sense of what customer service really means. Just then Ryan walked in and in a pleasant manner indicated that my vehicle had been pushed out of their garage and my AAA tow was awaiting outside for me. It was a stark contrast from the customer service I had received from Brian Mendoza, and after reading some of the reviews I can see why this location is rated so low. read more

There has been an apparent change of Managers & this young woman definitely has changed my perspective on Firestone. She has not only Superior customer service but offers coupons which help to cut the cost. She just came & let me know that the technician found I was low on brake fluid. She offered a free brake check & then after they found I needed front brakes, she offered a coupon to help out with the cost which will only cost $99. I want everyone to know what great service I had when I needed a car battery on a Sunday late afternoon less than 2 hours before they closed. I called and wanted an Interstate battery and was lucky enough to speak with Brian who I found out was the manager on duty. They were already busy but he checked to see if they had the battery for my car and told me to come right in. He quoted me a reasonable price which was the price that I paid when I left no hidden surprises. I needed a battery so bad that I was afraid to shut my car off in fear I couldn't get it started again. He warned me of other appointments but said he would be able to squeeze me in as long as I was patient knowing that he was fitting me in. I am very thankful for that and the entire experience with lady that helped me from the moment I walked in. Her attitude was outstanding and also made this a great experience.
