My fiancé and I will be getting married at Firestone in May, so today we visited the winery for our final walkthrough and to select our wine list. While we were already sold on the venue for all of its grace and beauty, we couldn't have been happier after today for one very big reason...Cameron. Its one of the larger tasting rooms/winerys around. It can get busy with tour busses but as opposed to the similar in size Fess Parker, my experiences at Firestone have been good. The staff is friendly, although not always the most knowledgeable, and most importantly the wine is consistently good. We considered having our wedding here, but ultimately decided against an outdoor reception in November. If we had a smaller party, they rent an amazing barrel room. Nevertheless the grounds, tasting room, courtyard, and ceremony site are all beautiful. read more

We recently gave this winery another chance after a long hiatus. Our previous visit a few years back was less than stellar. So glad we did! Don't know what changes were made. Apparently, it's the same winemaker as before. We really enjoyed all of their Cabs, especially the Proximity 26. The grounds were always impressive, now they have the wines to match. ignore that whole bachelor thing.. it's a beautiful winery & space. and, at least a while ago, if you buy a tasting at firestone, you also get a tasting at curtis, the next door winery. the wines are really enjoyable - very easy to drink. however, the real reason to read this is that it's a fabulous wedding location - we had the "welcome bbq" in the cask room, which was stunning (but cold). an incredibly beautiful dark space with the wine barrels lining the walls and just a cool location. read more

The drive to get to the winery is simply amazing: gentle rolling green hills, oak trees, and perfectly aligned grape wines. The tasting room feels like one big cabin and it gives a sense of comfort and warmth. As for the wine itself, they have a great collection. For the white, I especially like the sauvignon blanc and riesling. The red is definitely the pinot noir. They also just released their first year of malbec, which is also delicious. This is probably one of the good wineries you may pass by during a Los Olivos wine tour (or a "Sideways" tour). I found my wine-tasting experience quite pleasant , especially with the pretzels and the variety of sauces you can dip into, to go with your tasting. A good set up. I also enjoyed their wine as well. Their reislings seem to be pretty popular with many women. You can probably get it pretty cheap in many stores these days, however. The staff was very friendly and it's a good start of a tour. read more

The winery and the tasting room is beautiful and probably one of the best looking ones in the Los Olivos area. This was our 3rd stop of the day. Although the scenery was inviting, the wines we tasted were just ok and the server was unpleasant. He made it known that he wanted to go home. I had to walk to another server to finish off my tasting. Perhaps it was just an unlucky day but I can only give it 2 stars. read more

Beautiful grounds but crowded tasting room. We went on the complimentary winery tour, which was ok. The tasting itself wasn't very memorable other than thinking their riesling was quite good. I did appreciate that you could sample their various dips (barbeque sauce, chocolate truffle, and one another one... ). I saw one customer just buy 7 jars of dip. It's nice that they sell these specialty food products with the Firestone label. Great for gifting for non-wine drinking friends. Otherwise, it was just ok for me. The winery felt very commercial and out of place of the other smaller independent wineries in the area. read more

I love the winery. We went on the tour and had a tasting with SB tour company. I love how it wasn't crowded and the wine wasn't bad.

Good, knowledgable staff. The guy even let us try other wines not on the tasting menu that I ended up getting 2 bottles of! Drinks were poured pretty quickly though- felt like I had to rush to drink to make sure I didn't get skipped. My fav was Cabernet 2009.. Also, got the 2010 Riesling for $14 and found it for $8.99 at bevmo...isn't buying it straight from the winery supposed to be cheaper??! I felt ripped off. Taste, but don't buy it here if it's available in store. read more

My parents came to visit from Florida and I wanted to take them for a wine tour and tasting. I chose Firestone based on their website and its proximity to where I live. It was exactly what I was hoping for both the tour(although short it was very interesting) and tasting. The wine flight has two itinerary ( I suggest choosing the one that allows tasting of wines that are sold exclusive at the vineyard and save the ones you can buy at the store) but you can only do one not both due to the law. It was a beautiful place. I highly recommend trying a tasting at this vineyard. read more

What a beautiful spot: secluded & picturesque. We stopped midweek in the early afternoon, so it was pretty quiet. There was plenty of staff around to greet us, answer questions, and add to our visit. They were all friendly and knowledgeable. A special S/O to Julian (hope I got his name right). He gave us a tour of the vineyard and wine processing areas of the winery. He made the tour fun, while still giving us plenty of good information, and allowing us to ask questions, plus linger and take pictures where we wished. We never felt rushed and truly enjoyed the tour, tasting as we went. The wines were spectacular. My favorite was the Pinot Noir, very floral and full bodied, while my wife loved the Chardonnay. Their courtyard would be a beautiful spot for a wedding or special occasion. read more

Had a good time at Firestone. A lot of the popularity and hype stems from Andrew Firestone, which draws a pretty substantial crowd and can get a bit annoying. Our wine pourer asked us where we were from and mentioned a lot of people from LA come up and can be obnoxious at times. (FYI, the Firestone family does not own the Winery and Vineyard anymore). The Vineyard gives the patrons a complimentary tour of the facility, which is nice if you're interested in wine making or learning the history of the Firestone Vineyard. Other than a nice atmosphere, the wine was nothing to boast about. read more

My brother is a club member and we frequently come up to pick up his shipment and enjoy the wine tasting. I am never disappointed, the consumer service is always exceptional and the wines add to the experience. This time we got to enjoy the tour with John which was very knowledgeable during the tour. Horrible experience at Firestone Winery today. Waited a good 10 minutes at the counter while staff was walking all around but NO ONE made eye contact or acknowledged us in any way. No welcome, no "I'll be with you in a minute," nothing. It was not busy at all, and there were plenty of staff, but no one could be bothered with customers. I am a member of Foley, and Firestone is a member of that same co-op, so thought I would give them a shot, but never again. I didn't even get to taste the wine since the staff were too "busy" to serve us. Very disappointing and odd experience. I'll stick to wineries with much better wines and much friendlier atmospheres. read more

One of the more beautiful wineries in the area. The grounds and architecture are stunning. All three stars go towards that. The staff unfortunately is always dressed down with no clear uniform, and their knowledge is right on par with their appearance. I am a very laid back person, but I do expect some form of "buying" into a company. Their wines a OK, just OK. They do have a nice members area in the back for those that are apart of the Foley club. We will be back, but will now know what to expect. read more

Very nice grounds and tasting room. We are Sebastiani club members and Firestone is a sister winery so we tasted for free in the member tasting bar. Wines were not to our taste and seemed a little pricey. It's rare that we don't buy something, but we didn't really care for the wines here. Great place for wine tasting. The place is really large so it can easily handle large groups. This was one of the first wineries I ever went too. The staff is pretty friendly. The standard wines aren't great because the best grapes are used for the Foley Wines and the Firestone Reserve wines. read more

Just stopped in for a late day tasting. They were busy, so there wasn't a lot of chit chat with the pourers but I am good with that. It allows me and my companion to discuss te wine together. The pourers were friendly and seemed to be taking care of folks even though every spot was packed. We tried the standard $10 tasting, and I have to agree that the wines were universally no big deal, hence the two star rating. I think we would have fared better with one of the many other vineyards up foxen canyon road. read more

My family and I love going to Solvang every few years to just hang out, eat and watch a play during the summer. This trip we took our 6 yr old and decided to visit a vineyard during our stay. My husband wanted to go and check out this winery because of its brewery. We check out the wine tasting portion and it was fun (I'm not a wine drinker but I liked experience). I know what tastes good to me. haha We buy a couple of bottles of wine and check out the tour. The tour was informative and interesting. It even keep the attention of my 6 yr old which is amazing. She liked walking around the vineyard and especially when it "rained" over the barrels. Also, I buy this chocolate pinot noir raspberry sauce that costs at much as the wine. I made a strawberry shortcake with angel food cake and drizzled some of the sauce on top. Everyone raved about it and it was delicious. read more

I wasn't going to stop at this winery because it didn't have amazing reviews. I am so happy I did! They were so friendly and knowledgable. We sat at the far bar at the back and had a tasting overlooking the rolling hills. It happened to be so green and picturesque. I felt like we were in Italy. The staff was completely knowledgable and the Reisling was so good. We had to buy 2 bottles. I wish we would have made it in time for the tour. read more

We were here yesterday for wine tasting n bought we few bottles of wine. Fantastic reserved merlot, great flavour, love the subtleties of the oak infusion, it's good value for club member. Another one of our favourite is the blended Proximity, you have to try this. We are impressed with their service even on a busy weekend. Their wine and service is excellent!
