I'm originally from Everett but moved to Florida last year. I'm back visiting family with my partner and wanted to show him Snohomish. We stopped in for brunch and I got my usual tarragon chicken sandwich and he got the chicken friend steak. I got water and he had asked for a Snohomish Coffee, which included alcohol, to which the waitress repeated "Snohomish Coffee", but he received a regular drip coffee. Neither of us were upset and didn't ask for a correction as it was busy and a simple oversight. When I ordered my sandwich, I asked for the pasta salad as my side and a side salad to add on. When my meal arrived, the pasta salad was replaced with the salad which, again, was fine and I didn't bring it up to the waitress - she seemed overwhelmed by the amount of people in the restaurant. When the bill came, I had noticed a $4.25 charge for the salad and asked about the amount. I told the waitress that I hadn't received my pasta salad, emphasizing that this was totally okay, I was more confused about the price. On the menu, it notes that side salad substitutions are $3.00, not $4.25. She informed me this was her first day, and as someone who worked in the industry for many years, I completely understood. She said she would ask and came back saying the price was correct but they hadn't updated prices on the menu yet. This didn't sit too well with me, but I left it as to not go back and forth. After all, the waitress doesn't control prices. However, if a price is posted, that's what should be on the ticket, whether it's been updated or not. The nail in the coffin for me was after I paid in cash, I thanked the waitress twice. She not only stopped making eye contact with me after the price incident, she said not a word either. No "thank you", no "thanks for coming in", not any acknowledgement of my existence. She put the change on the table and walked away. Again, as someone who has worked in the industry, when something (like prices) is out of my control, I still would apologize for the confusion or misunderstanding, and try to make things right or at least have the customer leave with some sort of sense of resolution. That was not attempted. I loved this place for years but unfortunately after today's interaction, I am not confident I will be back. read more

Got here and it seemed like the person who sits you either hated her job or didn't like us. She just didn't do a whole service either a smile, but did to everyone else. Maybe cause we're Hispanic I dunno. We at least got sat. My friend and I ordered mimosas and I got an Italian sandwich with a pasta salad. The food was ok. I didn't finish it. I was expecting something mouthwatering but it wasn't there. I wasn't too impressed because the service really killed it for me. The place is nice though, really packed and my mimosa was good. I got the pineapple mimosa. At least I got a good drink. Oh the Greek fries were BOMB! I think they are seasonal but get them while they have them! We weren't sure we would be able to get in but we walked right in and were seated immediately, even though the place was packed. I just had breakfast there and it was a terrible experience. I ordered the chicken fried steak that was impossible to eat because of how tough and chewy it was. I took one bite and just could not eat the rest of it, potatoes were hard and crunchy. Our waitress was incredibly slow with zero personality, once we had enough and trying to cash out we waited and waited for our server to return which she never did. We finally got up and walked over to where she was posted. We never got waters or did she ever come back to check on us once that ugly food arrived.What get me is that there were only a few tables of customers. Our young waitress was too busy hanging at the bar with who I assume was her boyfriend. This place sucks ass, will never go back. Two years ago while visiting from Boston with my dearest friend at her home before flying with her to Hawaii, she treated me to brunch at First and Union. The bounty and happiness elicited from that meal still resonates. Our bloody Mary's were richly seasoned and full of flavor (and vodka). Our omelettew were massive, served with home fries, rye bread from their bakery, and a cup of fresh fruit which naturally absorbed all the other calories. I'll be visiting her again during Christmas and hope we can return for another memorable meal. read more

Holy cowwwwww. You are doing yourself a desrvice if you don't get the Bronx Ruben. It was unlike any I've had before so it does stray a little from a classic Ruben in the best ways possible. In my opinion, most Rubens are typically over stuffed with kraut which throws off the meat ratio. They get their pastrami shipped in from the bronx. It has such amazing flavor, iit's thinly sliced, and piled high. The remoulade they use has a more herby mustardy taste versus using the classic thousand island. To be honest this sandwich isn't what I think of for a Ruben but it's so damn good I'd glady never pick up another Ruben for this sandwich instead. It's just one of those items where you want to try something different next time you go but you know you never will. Also the bread is housemate next door at the bakery and is fantastic. If we're feeling indulgent, we'll pick up some absolutely wonderful baked goods from the bakery side of the business afterward. I love First and Union Kitchen! From the food, the atmosphere, to the customer service it's all phenomenal. We went on a Sunday for brunch and it was of course busy. We arrived at a good time because after that the customers kept approaching the host to be only to be told there was a wait. After being seated we had a chance to view the menu before our server brought us water and took our food and drink order. We got mimosas and I got black coffee to drink as well. The mimosas were great, more champagne than OJ. Our food was amazing, cooked to perfection, and well seasoned. The biscuits and gravy were both homemade. The cheddar biscuit under the gravy was fabulous. Seems like all meals come with a side of fresh which is very refreshing. Their cinnamon raisin toast was fantastic! Planned a group get-together for brunch for up to 6 of us. We didn't know how many would show. Well...guess that's "not allowed". Tables are BOLTED to the floor so they cannot be moved together to accommodate a larger group. So, we awkwardly sat at two tables to have our meeting and the server accommodated us and was pleasant but so slow. We sat for at least 10 min before we got a drink order in. Waited a good long while before said drinks showed up and another long while before she came for our food order. The weirdest thing, two orders came out and we had to tell our friends to eat as theirs were getting cold and the rest of the food didn't shown up for a long time. The manager finally delivered a couple more orders and said "That won't happen again" thinking he was apologizing that we waited so long but NO! He meant our large group wouldn't be allowed to be on one ticket! He was ticked at us! I inquired with the server and she explained that they're not allowed to accommodate over 4 or 5 at a time? The food? It was ok, but by the time we finally ate, we felt unwanted there and just wanted to be done. Many great options in Snohomish and this is not one of them. None of our party will be back. We love to ride our e-bikes from our house to here for breakfast! They are always happy to help out their customers with a friendly smile. Breakfast today was once again so good! When it's time for a friend brunch in Snohomish, we always head to First and Union. The servers are so friendly, and they serve a wonderful Bloody Mary and mega-mosa. I usually get a two egg breakfast with bacon and hash browns. Eggs are always cooked perfectly over easy, and the bacon is crisp! read more

Love love love the egg bennys here. Lots of unique choices my all time fav is the smoked salmon or the mushroom benny. The poached egg and hollandaise sauce are always on point and even better is you get three! The melon side and thinly sliced country potato with rosemary is excellent! (Typically like classic hashbrowns but this is just as good!). Always leave feeling very satiated and that's good for someone with a big appetite. Nice ambience with easy street parking on first street or in the area the farthest we'd to walk is around the block. Service is always decent. They have a few booth seating. Lots of outdoor tables. Can get busy on weekends if the weather is nice since it's considered a tourist destination not to mention the attached bakery is very popular. read more

Ridiculous that they limit party size to 5 ppl. They won't serve you or accommodate you. They say that their tables are bolted to the floor. What a dumb business decision that was. This place used to be great. Two families used to be able to get together for breakfast. I remember parties of 8-10 could connect and eat. Not anymore. So lame. lol, friends just showed up for brunch, 4 kiddos + mom and dad, forced to sit at separate tables. This place can't even accommodate a family of this size. Truly disappointing. I'll start with a kudos -- The food here was superb. Homemade hollandaise and corned beef hash! Seriously cannot beat that! I would have licked my plate! :) I was extremely displeased with the service, starting with waiting to be seated, several servers passed us, back and forth, and wouldn't dare make eye contact, smile, not an acknowledgment of our existence, no reassurance that we would be helped in a minute, which we would have been sympathetic to and willing to wait. Between the two of us, my patience was wearing thin and I suggested we leave. My man insisted we stayed and walked up to one of the servers and asked about bar seating. Which we were told we still needed to wait for the hostess (there was none) and after she realized there was no one standing there, that the hostess was on break, she allowed us to sit at the bar. The service was impersonal, no one ever really smiled, or made conversation with us. It was an unwelcoming environment, no opportunity to really ask for something if you needed/wanted it. Despite the food being beyond good, it's not enough for us to return. I demand good service, good people, that might even pretend to give a damn. read more

(Belated Post) Came in for a quick breakfast before meeting some friends. I was early in the area and it was 8:30 am.. First & Union was open with a decent sounding breakfast sandwich on the menu. Oh my gosh it was SO good. I ordered it with ham & it ended up coming with sausage. Given I was in a rush and hungry, I ate it anyways. I really enjoyed it and it came served on a croissant and you can tell it was freshly baked and oh so buttery delicious. Fruit was served with it and tasted fresh and plentiful. I will specifically come back here for this sandie next time I am in the area. Absolutely delicious. Bloody Mary was excellent and was poured perfectly. Seasoning was on point. The service staff were very pleasant and given it was a car show morning, service was attentive. I can't wait to come back here and taste more of the menu. read more
