This was a terrific spot to stop for a late morning breakfast. We grabbed two seats at the counter and were immediately greeted and welcomed. Hubby ordered coffee and I had iced tea. I didn't try the coffee but my ice tea was great. We decided to split the Gutbuster omelette. And it's good we did because it was a huge plate of food. Truly lived up to its name. I have to admit the hashbrowns were PERFECT! Crispy on the outside, not oily, and thick and soft on the inside. The omelette filling was super tasty! One thing I will say...it looks like ALL the dishes are more than generous. When I saw the fries go by on someone else's plate, I almost regretted not ordering some because they looked so legit. But it'll just give me another reason to come back. Both waitresses we interacted with were super friendly and attentive. It's amazing how they successfully juggled guests and plates. Great place for breakfast! This was my first time at Jake's. I came in first thing on Sunday morning. There were already a few patrons waiting outside when I arrived. There was plenty of parking on Rainer, but that filled up pretty fast. I was seated immediately since I was among the first in. Great atmosphere. Lots of car and celebrity memorabilia primarily 1950's to 1980's. The food was excellent and the portions large. My hash browns were perfection, nice and crispy on the outside. The service was friendly and attentive. My family and I have been coming here for YEARS, and we still love it! They make the best hot chocolate and root beer floats. Their hamburgers are tasty and their omelets can't be beat. Sadly, I can no longer eat gluten or dairy or egg whites. After a few years of only eating steak or burgers on a gf bun, I was really missing my old standard of a veggie omelet with bacon. When we went back last week, I perfected my idea that they graciously and wonderfully made to accommodate my needs. The omelet that I ordered, the Californian, was filled to the brim with bacon, tomatoes, and other stuff besides lots of cheese,all topped off with sliced avocado. The hash browns were crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the biscuit was a good solid tender biscuit. I just couldn't finish it all! I ate half my omelet and biscuit, and only a couple of bites of my hash browns even though I was hungry. The place we is cute, very 50s diner with lots of nostalgia hanging all over the walls, and 50s and 60s music playing. The waitress was friendly to her regulars and just cordial to us, but was friendly when she was giving us our bill. Cute spot, old traditional cafe spot in DT Snohomish. Not a big restaurant so kind of hard with a larger party. It was busy on a Saturday morning so felt claustrophobic a bit. Also, when they put two tables together.. they didn't take away any duplicate items like napkin dispensers etc so didn't leave us much room. I ended up getting the pancake combo meal. Within a minute we were presented menus and given another warm welcome and a heavy white cup ready for my coffee. The menu had a few options for my kid's burger (He chose a cheeseburger, no surprises there.) and I was pleasantly shocked by the variety of salads, sandwiches, and soups. After changing my mind three times I took a risk on their Monte Cristo, a favorite for brunch. We both agreed that the food and service were very good. My Monte Cristo was perfect with the right amount of egg, cheese and meet. Quartered, skewered and served with a fruity jam. So, my favorite way a Monte Cristo is made is with the whole triple-decker sandwich dipped on all sides in the egg batter, with the egg cooked on all sides, with the egg covering all the bread. This sandwich wasn't cooked that way, because each slice was like individual pieces of French Toast sandwiched together. The last few times my wife and I have gone, not only was the food not great (they take greasy spoon diner to a whole new level), but the other patrons stare at us like we have 3 heads. I know Snohomish isn't the most progressive place, but a lesbian couple isn't completely out of the ordinary, and being gawked and stared at during our entire meal isn't how we expected to spend our morning.
