I was craving for some poke bowl so after browsing through google map I found this place. This restaurant is located in the downtown area and the buildings in the neighborhood are very cute. Inside the restaurant is decorated nicely giving me the feel of a local restaurant in Hawaii's tourist district lol. The seatings are all booth and look very cozy. There are 2 staff at the counter and they both are very friendly and welcoming. There are many different menus from poke to ramen and snacks. The price is on the higher side compared to the portions given. 1 scoop of protein is $14, 2 scoops is $17 and 3 scoops is $20. I like how they keep vegetables because they are fresh and crispy. Spicy poke sauce is very tasty too. It has a nice kick to it. They also have loyalty cards that you can collect points and get free scoops when you purchase enough amount of food. Stopped in here on a Wednesday around 12:30PM when I was just passing by the city. There was only one other couple in the restaurant eating when I got inside. It seems like they have a lot of interesting options but I just went for a double scoop protein bowl of tuna. It was kind of expensive for what you got out of it but it tasted fresh and the pineapple miso sauce was really good! The workers were extremely nice and it was overall a good experience! read more

I've started traveling up the thruway recently and this is the perfect location for a dinner stop along the way. The staff are always super friendly, the location downtown Kingston is quaint and lovely. I love getting the HweDupBap bowl, sometimes I add extra tuna. I make it my own by swapping the spinach for seaweed, adding ginger and pineapple. The bowls are filling and a complete and satisfying meal, without making me too tired to keep on driving. The fried rice is nice, sometimes a little salty but a nice addition. If this were closer to me I'd be here ALL the time! I catch myself craving their poke bowls far too often, and other poke bowl places just don't compare to their variety and combinations. DON'T miss out, stop in today! read more

I work around the corner from this place and haven't checked it out so I went in and got a to go bowl on their lunch special. I got the Hei Hei bowl with zoodles and I was instantly satisfied with my choice. Delicious, fresh, and satisfying. The people working there are super friendly, I paid cash and got an extra discount plus a punch card for free proteins & stuff on later visits. Uptown Kingston is now a touristy "IT" spot, great for the neighborhood, but I'm a civil servant , so $15 lunches isn't something I can do 3x a week, that's insane&not affordable,however on the days when I'm not brown bagging, this is going to be my new favorite place Check it out read more

I've been coming to FCPB since it opened and have loved to watch it grow over the last four years. Not many places can say that their food's quality doesn't diminish with time and FCPB has been serving up incredible dishes since their doors opened. I'm a picky eater and there's plenty of options for me to choose from, or to make my own special dish. The staff are always incredibly helpful and attentive to my needs/wants. Not only that, they are a PLEASURE! Friendly, welcoming, and it feels like they genuinely enjoy being there. The owner, Max, is also a treat; always cooking and helping out on the counter or as a cashier. It's so refreshing to see a business owner who really cares not only about the product, but the experience one has from start to finish. With plenty of seating and fun decor, eating in is a great option. But, of course, you can take it to go; whether that means home or the benches outside! They even have a grab-n-go cooler with fresh pre-made goodies (all of which are great) Personal favorites: vegan bowl, chicken teriyaki bowl, pickled plum onigiri, and the chicken katsu masubi! UPDATED REVIEW: I have ordered takeout twice since my initial review with this being the second time. Both times I went with just the bowl because that was the best component of my first meal. Final impressions: First Capital Poke is a good choice for the value in uptown. My bowl was tasty and filling. All of the ingredients are fresh and good quality. Almost got scared off by the $$$ wagyu bowl on the menu. But I'm glad I stopped in as the standard bowl is a good value given the size and quality. We love coming here for a casual, lighter yet filling meal. There are a lot of different poke bowls and ramen to choose from, and I'm a fan of the snack box which is deceivingly a lot more filling than I thought. Dumplings are tasty! Today I walked in, waited a few minutes while the only other customer collected her order and left, and then I waited some more. First Capital Poke Bar was recommended to us by several friends and a very well-respected restaurant owner in Kingston. My wife and I ate dinner here on 30 Dec 2023. The atmosphere was clean and there were plenty of seats in the dining area. The service was very friendly and fast. However, as I said above, this is NOT your normal poke place. The ingredients listed in the burritos, bowls, and ramen soup dishes are so far superior to the any of the run-of-the-mill poke places. In fact, there appeared to be about a dozen ingredients at least for every dish. The selection of ingredients bore out in the tremendous flavor of both the burrito and the bowl we had that night. We also had an order of the Kalua pork buns and they did not disappoint. We will be back. If you like poke, this place is an absolute MUST! read more

I came in to this cute little spot not really familiar with this concept and the staff was friendly and helpful. I ended up building my own Poke bowl with tuna. I just couldn't believe the variety of sides and toppings that were available. Everything was fresh and enjoyable. Super well-run place that offers you the option of asking for no plastic utensils etc., and uses at least partially paper-based take-out containers, so that's a big plus. I've only tried two dishes here. The Hoe Deo Bap bowl and the First Capital Bowl. The Hoe Deo was extremely spicy and overwhelmed with kimchi and spicy pastes. The First Capital became dull after the first few bites. The rice, both brown and white, was heavy and clumpy. The fish was generous, but the flavors were not highlighted by the other elements, and instead got a bit lost in the mix. Overall, it felt like an okay chirashi bowl experience, not a fresh, bright, multi-faceted poke one (which I've had in California and NYC). Definitely worth checking out; others may love it.
