Increased price on everything by almost 3$. Last year a fried rice was 12$ now its 15$ and they wanna charge you 1$ for 2 tiny plastic cups of chili oil. The size portions have also changed, they went from serving out big 2 person sized portion in white styrofoam to-go boxes. Now you get a small black plastic container that has half of the food it used to have, not to mention the price increase. So basically if you buy from here youre losing money. Dont pay more for less here. The spicy Szechuan chicken also became nasty since last year, which makes me believe management changed and they wanted to cut corner all to make more money but at the end of the day you guys will be the one paying. You don't need to bring a lot of it however, the meals are very reasonably priced, the serving sizes are massive and I recommend ordering "family" style here. We typically come here with the whole family so 10-12 people, we always order WAY to much and everyone gets to bring some home but it is not necessary, we could order 5 meals and feed everyone but we want the left overs because its all so tasty. I always find positive thinngs about each establishment I go to. So I ordered to-go food (COVID) my bill was $100, and I gave them $20 tip. They gave me my food and I asked them, is this everything. We ordered veggies, 2 orders of orange chicken and shrimp lo mein to go. Out of the 4 people who ate it for dinner not a single one of us was pleased. I would like to say it was just me being picky but I don't think so when no one else was happy. The disappointments: The veggies had zero flavor. I'm used to having to go to Chinatown for BBQ ducks and roast pork, it was nice to be in a restaurant that had all this, minus the headache of parking. The First Chinese BBQ was pretty solid, with a huge dining room that can accommodate big families. You can actually see the roasted meat being cut up for you as you order. We had BBQ chicken, roast pork, BBQ pork and BBQ ducks. I also had an order of wontons. The goods: chicken and ducks and roast pork were all delicous. I actually ended up liking the chicken the most, which was rare for me. The roast pork skin could've been more crispy though. The wonton was also top notch. They packed those wontons with meat and shrimps, the broth was also more flavorful than most places. The bads: their rice was dry and old. It definitely tasted like left over. The char siu (BBQ pork) was a tad too sweet for me and the cut was too big. The plates was pretty dirty, there were still scraps of food on it when they brought it out. Overall, it was a good meal anyhow, they gave large portions and the price was cheap. It will be one of the spots that I will probably hit up every time I'm around but not necessarily travel for. i have had a love affair with FCB since the day I moved here, over 20 years ago. I used to have to go to the RIchardson location (while living in Arlington) to eat. But soon after I moved here, the Arlington location opened up. The dishes are always fresh and delicious, portion sizes are great. prices have gone up with inflation which is a sad thing, but oh well. my favorite dishes include almost everything on the menu :D hahaha. 3 choice BBQ : roast duck, cha siu, and the roast pork. with rice. the beef stew is fantastic. the tendon is always so good and "tend"er haha. My boyfriend introduced me to First Chinese Bbq when I first moved over to Arlington, because he knows that despite being partially Chinese and mostly Vietnamese, my tastebuds and food preferences are favorable towards Chinese dishes. That being said, I love this place. There's some drawbacks to it, like the food being slightly more on the greasy side - but I'm pretty used to Chinese food being like that. Also its cash only. I've had the beef flat noodles, sesame chicken (huge portion that comes with broccoli, and a big side of white rice), and curry stir fried noodles with char siu (bbq pork? I only know the Chinese term for this sorry T.T ). I've loved everyhing that I have had here. Anytime that I am craving Chinese food - or have cash on me in general - I would stop by here. Everything tastes authentic and perfectly seasoned. The only item I'd consider fixing is the char siu, which is slighly more on the drier side and not as caramelized as the typical char siu I grow up eating. Very good portion and the chicken sauce/crunchy noodle combo is amazing. 2. Wonton noodle soup. Not your typical wonton, to me it personally taste like a dim sum in excellent broth. 3. Beef with broccoli. Def not a fast food express taste. Large portions and could take food home. 4. Crispy Lemongrass Chicken. Very tasteful, the sautéed sweet sauce with chopped up chicken is good. I love this place and it has been consistent since I was a child. First Chinese is best served family style. You cannot go wrong with a rice dish, the bbq pork, and a flat noodle just to start. They are well known for the bbq pork and the duck. I've never had anything bad here regardless of what we've ordered. The combination fried rice is a personal favorite and everyone should try the bbq pork when they visit. I like to dip my duck in more sauce so I asked the waitress for extra sauce and what does she proceed to do? SHE TOOK THE SPOON ON MY PLATE AND STARTED MIXING MY RICE AND ROAST DUCK AROUND TO SHOW THERE'S SAUCE IN IT!!! Are you effing kidding me?!?!?! This family has no respect whatsoever. They're always giving dirty looks to customers and making snide remarks about people in chinese. They're loud, rude, crude, obnoxious.. hell I could go on. Ordered the seafood soup, roasted pork with rice, Peking duck with rice, and Chinese broccoli sautéed in garlic and oyster sauce. Soup was good. Came out hot and was flavorful. This is my favorite Chinese BBQ place in DFW, and one of my favorite Chinese food places ever. The food is always excellent, the menu diverse, and fairly inexpensive. My family and I have been going here for years, so I feel like I can give a good analysis of First Chinese BBQ. First, this isn't the only "First Chinese BBQ" in DFW. There are a small chain with other locations in Plano, Richardson, and Carrollton as well, if I'm not mistaken.But make no mistake, this is the better one of the others. The food is EXCELLENT. The BBQ pork tastes just right, and isn't too sweet or tough. The duck is delicious. Be forewarned: the BBQ is not traditionally served warm, although the last time I had it, it was. Regardless of temperature, it is excellent. The BBQ pork in particular is a must have for anyone. It's not very exotic and can be enjoyed by just about anyone. There is also more traditional fare like fried rice and beef and broccoli. Despite being a more authentic restaurant, the more tame items are very good, and certainly better than the sort of thing you might expect from a chinese buffett or worse (shudder) Panda Express. For those with an adventurous streak, the menu is a candy land of unusual seafood, pig parts, and assorted other deliciousness. I haven't been able to try everything, but what I have tried has consistently been very good. Now for the bad. First off, they only take cash. A little inconvenient, but no big deal. As for the service, that does leave something to be desired. Don't expect the same sort of courteous "Hello! Welcome!" that you would at a typical casual dining restaurant. Some of the staff don't speak English, and those that do, don't necessarily speak it well. Your water glass won't be filled as quickly as you might like, and you may have to flag down the server if you need to pay. Having said that, I feel it is necessary to explain why diners shouldn't hate this place for it's poor service. If you have ever been to China, the service at restaurants is usually very poor. Some of that has carried over into America. This doesn't excuse their behavior, and in general they do try. But when you come to an authentic place, it helps to have some perspective. Well this is the poster child for that terrible justification of eating at restaurants with delicious food that causes people to forgive the service. The Peking duck here is good but this time it was ice cold (an exaggeration I know) and when asked to heat it up the waitress reluctantly did so. The stewed beef is one that I don't particularly like because of the way it's seasoned but this dish includes tofu and a variety of veggies. And the service lady added one steamed rice by herself to our order which we didn't order, so in the end I only added 2 dollars tip to the whole order, but the worst of worst was the bill has been charged more and she still asked me to add five dollars more tip for her, made me to give her more tips. I'll start by saying my review could go up, if it turns out we were there on an off day. We ordered: BBQ pork / roast duck combination Crispy shrimp Yang chow fried rice. The good: The duck was probably the most moist and flavorful duck that I've ever had. Usually duck seems dry when I get it at chinese places but this wasn't at all. It changed my opinion of duck. The flavor of the crispy shrimp was very good and they use big generous shrimps. The yang chow fried rice was good - much better than any Americanized over soyed fried rice, though not quite as good as the fried rice at King or Ocean IMO. The portion sizes seemed more generous than at King across the street. The bad: Both the roast duck and the bbq pork were cold. The flavors were fine as I said before but they were not even luke warm. This may be a personal preference thing that you might not mind, but I don't like to eat shrimp shells. The crispy shrimp was not shelled, de-legged, de-veined or de-tailed prior to being fried. So, even though the flavor was good, I essentially had to peel off the batter to get the shell off. I like the crispy to be from the fried breading, not the shell! If you don't mind shrimp shells you can ignore this comment. They didn't have any lunch specials so it was pricy by lunch standards though for dinner the prices would have been very reasonable. This isn't really a complaint, just a comment. I have no complaints about the service. It was prompt and courteous. I suspect my "real" review would be 4 stars if the meat hadn't been cold. I may go back sometime to give them a second chance because the duck and the crispy shrimp did have good flavor. My family and I have been going to this place for years. Their soy sauce chicken is great as well as their shrimp hot pot. We usually order snow fish with black bean sauce so please give it a try. The snow fish is deep fried and then topped with the black bean sauce. the fish comes out flakey and moist. Absolutely delicious. The hot pot and the snow fish dishes aren't on the menu but do try to remember to order it. The waitstaff are a little distracted so don't be sad if you get ignored a few times. There is this place in Arlington, Texas that I have been going to for years and I can't believe I have never written about it. I thank my Dad for introducing me to it. One of the best Chinese food joints I have been to. I wish I had one at home. I wish their air conditioning worked on hot days. I wish they took more than just cash as the only accepted form of payment. So I visited the Metroplex last month and got the chance to eat at 1st two times. Once in their original Arlington location and a second time a few days later in their more chi-chi looking Plano location. The name suggests Chinese BBQ. Funny thing is I don't think I've ever ordered the BBQ when I go there. Always been the traditional dishes. So I ordered the Cha Sui pork (red BBQ sauce) this time. I liked how their sauce was a little runnier, less pasty and less intense than other places that serve this. It showcases the pork that you are eating better (sorry Wilbur). Served room temperature like it should be. A cold dish to snack on before the hot dishes come out. We also got the wonton soup like we always order. Big meaty wontons that have a mixture of pork, veggies and shrimp. You get a big bowl to share. Broth is good but not phenomenal. Forget the broth. You order this for the wontons. We got a chicken and eggplant dish. Pan fried tender chicken and small cut Chinese eggplant in a brown sauce (none of that dark brown corn starch sauce you see in most suburban Chinese restaurants) that complements but does not overpower the ingredients. Put some on your rice and even when the chicken and eggplant are gone, you will still be savoring the sauce on the rice. Only down side is it is greasy. Try to ignore the leftover oil on the plate when you get to the bottom. Next up is the combination clay pot that is kind of like a Chinese beef stew minus the beef, potatoes and carrots. What you get in their version is chicken, other animal parts, squid, deep fried tofu chunks, mushrooms, bamboo and other stuff (I really don't remember what was all in it) that is stewed in a hot clay pot and served in heaping portions. The sauce that it comes with is another great sauce to coat your rice with. We also got some deep fried breaded shrimp. I usually avoid getting deep fried dishes at Chinese restaurants because in most cases it is not really Chinese food. We got this dish at the recommendation of the server but didn't realize it was deep fried. It wasn't bad at all. No nuclear sauce to coat it. You get a plate full of shrimp in a lighter tempura breading. Good but I probably wouldn't order again. I have had many other dishes there over the years. I have not been disappointed with any of them. This is one of those places that I have to hit when I'm in town. They probably will never accept anything other than cash. With authentic there may be some real scary things for the regular American palate. For instance their wontons are extremely gamey/fishy tasting, however with big pieces of shrimp & pork in there. They also don't bother taking bones or little things like heads out of dishes. . YAY lol! Otherwise, the beef flat noodle is to die for. The pork BBQ is also just delish and oh so inexpensive. 7.95 all the time, which me love long time. The interior is freshly renovated and clean with bright calm colors. No speakee much English though, so point to your order or use the number system. I love Chinese food & people so this is on my top 3 in Arlington. Arlington has the 8th largest Asian community in America (last time I checked) but it's funny how few traditional Chinese restaurants their are. Mostly all Pho, Vietnamese, Thai.
