They got an attitude that I asked and charged me extra for it. Then burnt the ever living hell out of our chicken to where we can't even bite into it. They put zero sauce in our fried rice I only wanted the chicken sauce on side which I explained. Also the wonton soup tastes old, sour and like pure butter. The salmon roll was fine, the fish tasted nice and fresh, but it was just a salmon only roll, no other flavors. The rice wasn't even seasoned so it was pretty blah. The salad dressing was great but the salad was nothing but lettuce, some of it brown and wilted. Oh my goodness, finally a place with some decent Chinese food! One thing is for certain in the DFW you will find an abundance of amazing Vietnamese food, but I cannot say the same about Chinese. So I'm really glad this spot is close to me. I can skip the egg rolls and crab rangoon next time but the rest got the spot. Good fried rice, good garlic chicken, and the best was their Mei Fun. So many people love Lo Mein and I understand it. But the rice noodles and crispy vegetable that come with Mei Fun are my preference. And here the noodles have a good flavor so they don't disappoint. My husband even liked the chicken wings were tasty. He got his hot and spicy. I am amazed that I've never written a review of our favorite neighborhood Asian restaurant, we've been frequenting Asian Gourmet for close to a decade and have never had a bad experience or meal. The food is always consistent and always more than you can eat at one sitting. I ordered the Pepper and Orange Chicken Combination platter with steamed rice. It also came with an egg roll. Worst "Asian" food I've ever had. Worst dining experience since I've been to the city. My fried rice was soggy and smelled of plastic. I just asked them to remake it or retoss it because it was repulsive and I truly hate sending food back. But I had already spent my money and brought friends along who wanted Asian. None of the food was great some things were just okay. But the only thing I wanted was the rice recooked or cooked longer. This is my second time dining here. The first time I have to say was extremely better. Something changed about the food. It was still pretty decent and it had good flavor. The egg rolls were not very tasty. I took one bite and forced myself to swallow it, but the rest stayed on the plate. I ordered the Pepper Chicken and Orange Chicken with fried rice. Tried this for the first time yesterday since it had some good reviews. I should have paid more attention to the 1-star reviews. This is the most tasteless, bland Chinese food I've EVER tried to eat. Ordered online and chose Hunan chicken, supposed to be somewhat spicy, hot and sour soup, supposed to be hot, and spring rolls, presumed to be a least warm. When I came to pick up the order, the soup and rolls were waiting in a bag. The server tried to give me the wrong order, twice. I had to ask him 3 times what it was giving me because his communication really sucked. The server then asked the kitchen to make some "brown sauce" chicken. I asked, just to make sure, that they provided some sweet and sour sauce for the rolls. The woman didn't say anything but grabbed a very small serving of sauce threw it in the sack and handed it to me without a word. She was obviously pissed off that I asked for something. At home, we found the Hunan in a tasteless, mediocre brown sauce. The sauce, chicken and veggies with all the same undistinguishably bland non-flavor and was cold. The soup was cold with no flavor. My dog liked it. The spring rolls were the worst ever, also cold. There was a small packet of sauce for 2 rolls so was pleased for asking for the additional house sauce, but it was no better than the prepacked variety. If rude service and terrible food (did I say tasteless? it's worth repeating) appeal to you, this is the place to go. BTW - there were no customers eating there at dinner time on Friday night. The best vegetable soup I've ever had at a restaurant. They use chayote along with some other veggies and their soup made my upset stomach feel a lot better. The next time I came in, I ordered a bento box with hibachi chicken, and Eel sushi. It's very difficult to find eel sushi around and I was happily surprised they carry it. In Far East Fort Worth, there are a few spots that are really decent to go grab a bite, but there are even more spots that you should avoid. I'm glad that Asian Gourmet opened up because it gives me a new option on my short list of places to go! The restaurant is located in a strip mall....it's very easy to miss. When I went in the first time, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The gentleman behind the counter went above and beyond to recommend options and to alter certain dishes to make them vegan. The food itself is real good. The few times that I've been there, I've tried the veggie fried rice (no egg). The last time that I went, I asked if they could throw some tofu in. It wasn't on the menu at all, but it wasn't a problem for them. They put it together in about 10 minutes, packed it up, and I took it back to work. Good stuff! The dining area is a pretty decent size. Each time that I went in there were plenty of seating options available. 2 large monitors are mounted on the wall on both sides in case you want to get your cable news fix while you eat. There's nothing fancy about this place, you just get what you expect, good food! The menu has a lot of sushi on it, but since I don't eat it anymore, I can't tell you how it is. Great little place in a shopping center in East FTW. Convenient location, stays open till 9:30 during the week and 10p on Saturdays and opens at noon on Sunday. Hubby and I stopped by for a to-go order so we could rush home and keep binge-watching Netflix! He started with a small miso soup, which didn't look small at all when we got it home! Great value for $2. He then ordered two orders of the sushi salmon, which is just the little mound of rice with the fish on top. Again, a deal at $5 for two pieces. For his entree, he ordered the Cream Pecan Prawn, which is fried shrimp with some creamy sauce, topped with honey roasted pecans. Came with a big side of fried rice for only $10. I had a hankering for veg lo-mein, so I ordered the kids portion for $4. It was a small Styrofoam container, stuffed to the gills, so that's a big score too! I also ordered the kids size orange chicken, for $5.50, and it was the same sized box, also packed full. All in all, super fresh made when you order it Chinese food, right in our neighborhood. We were hoping for a new Chinese option to supplement our usual place but I don't think we found that. I'm rounding up to a 3 because the service was very good and friendly and the portions were quite large, but honestly I didn't care for the food. I ordered the D4 (creamy pecan prawns) which is a dish I usually love at other restaurants but I did not like it at all here. The cream sauce was cold. Not just "not hot" but actively cold. The shrimp was very heavily breaded so it tasted mostly like bread. I didn't care for the flavor of the cream sauce either. I ate a few pieces and took the rest home to let my kids eat. I had a bite of my husband's General Tso's chicken and quite literally forgot what it tasted like right afterwards. It wasn't as heavily breaded as my shrimp though, so it was probably a little better, but nothing standout about it at all. Prices were very reasonable for the portions, I just wasn't wowed by the food. Lunch for 2. This place was both a hit and a miss. It was very reminiscent of what you would expect at a Japanese stall in the foodcourt of the second best mall in the any mid-sized city. Firstly, this is a family owned restaurant. Kids were watching cartoons and doing their homework at one of the booths. We were seated and initially served by the older kid. The dining area was nice and clean. The menu was somewhat all over the place. It's a "fusion" but to me that means we're a "jack of a all trade but master of none." We were then given a plate of deep fried egg noodle chips with sweet and sour sauce to dip. These chips were almost stale and were extra oily and extra yellow. We both ordered a bento box. The Mongolian chicken had a nice sear and taste, although a bit too much sauce. The side salad was fresh - not wilted nor dry. The eel sushi was surprisingly nice - sushi rice was soft, tender and tasty. The fried rice was very lacking - only seasoning sauce and bits of cabbage. I suggest adding a few frozen peas and carrots to add color. My husband and I went for a date night last weekend. When I walked in a young boy asked if it was for take out or dine in. We told him dine in. We were then instructed to "sit down." Tried to give this place a chance after we saw a movie at the AMC right next door. The lady ended up undercooking my chicken (pink in the middle) and chewy. Apparently according to the chef it was the "duck sauce". The food here is great. We ordered the red curry chicken and a Happy Family recently. Everything was hot, fresh, and tasty. It seems to take a little longer here than at other local Chinese places, but the food seems to be of a slightly higher quality and they use very nice to-go containers. They load you down with condiments to-go, too. Either be a little late picking up your order or expect to wait. Waiting. As I wait, I eye the place. The guy at the counter is playing on his phone and there are dirty tables in the dining area. It's a bare bones operation and this is their second unit. There's nothing harder to do in the restaurant business than go from one unit to two. The food is delicious and I over-analyze restaurants all the time.
