This bagel place is good .. I don't know why the reviews are so poor based on the customer service. I have never had an issue with any service in here... Everyone behind the counter is always more than willing to help .. I loveeee grabbing food to go for all of my journeys in here .. This is my fav pre beach spot bc they have the best buffalo chicken wraps pre made in containers, they're pretty amazing... Also, the bagels are always fresh, never hard.. They have never messed up my order and I'm one of those... "Can you scoop it out for me?" People lol don't judge. Fan of their veggie and lox cream cheese... And their bialy mmm.. I've been to this place more times than I care to recount. I haven't been in for a long while due to the prices, the attitudes of those at the register and the wait times, but I was in the shopping center picking up my dry cleaning and running late so I decided to chance it. I wish I didn't. Long wait time, par for the course (I wish I remembered the wait times when I walked in, I was thinking more about the prices which I decided to endure). My order- completely wrong. I ordered 2 sandwiches. He wrote it down and still got it wrong. $25 dollars and 20 minutes later I'm staring at food I didn't want. The only redemption was that for a change the guy at the counter was relatively friendly, meaning that he said "have a nice day" at the end of the transaction which is a rarity at this place. Terrible Customer Service!!! I make the mistake of going back to this place because there food is pretty good, however it is very common for them to screw up our lunch orders. Every time I let them know that there was a screwup I get an arrogant response telling me I ordered wrong and the mistake is mine. Showed up today with family prior to a funeral to get some bagels. Immediately realized it was cold inside, and the lights to all the display cases were out or off. Only 2 customers in front of us customer service was poor. No urgency on part of bagel store to expedite. One of us asked for a bacon egg and cheese and the women "female, dark skinned, 5'7" responded, we ain't got any of those left! So to clarify my friend said you have no more of those left? As in what does that mean? No what? No eggs? No bacon? Clearly there were ton of bagels on display and it was 945 am. The women responded, "that's what I said did n't I." So we were like screw this, we are going somewhere else. As we were getting in car, an older gentleman late 50's, early 60's came running out to car to ask what happened. We told him and he apologized. I would advise not coming to this establishment, clearly they don't have the right people working there and have operational issues. Wowza, rude server meatheads who look alike, and Incredibly slow service. I would willingly go out of my way, even though this is down the block, to go to ANY other bagel place. They have a great selection of bagels, so this is a shame. But honestly, eggs and bacon on a toasted flagel. This shouldn't be a difficult order...they didn't give me the flagel, instead gave me the bagel AND they didn't toast it. Not to mention that the wait was outrageous...shouldn't be a line out the door and shouldn't be waiting more than 20 minutes on line. It's Long Island, give me a break. Ok, let's start off with how many bagel shops/delis are there in Long Island. Probably thousands. This bagel shop is by far the best of the best. They are slightly pricy but trust me, its so so worth it! The location is a good size, with plenty of seating. Upon walking in you have so many options of what you want to drink, along with some pre-made salads and fruit cups. Next you can see all the delicious pastries/cookies on display. There's usually a wait, but I never mind because it takes me a while to decide what I want. I have tried so many different options from here, and all of them are better than the next. My usual go to is a flagel toasted with lite scallion cream cheese- and lox. Talk about yum. The lox never disappoints and is super fresh! Their delis sandwiches are also killer!!! I also recommend you try the potato salad. Never had anything like it! I have been going here for years, and have never had a problem! The line was pretty intimidating but it moved relatively fast. There were multiple staff moving the line and keeping it going. They definitely never stopped working. The place is a good size and never got over crowded despite it being so busy. That's a huge plus for deli time. Nothing like waiting for your egg sandwich and worrying you'll be forgotten and never get what you so desperately want. Also, holy treats. I think the line moved fast at a delusional pace for me, for I was sucked into the land of magical pastries and cookies. Literally had to compose myself when I saw a freshly made, uncut, Italian rainbow cookie cake. Like why cut them into little pieces? I would be totally fine with eating it in bigger chunks. Like, let me live. Don't make me hate myself because I have to count how many I've had. Okay, sorry. Back to the deli. Wasn't a fan of the sandwich. Seeing as how this was St. Patrick's Day I was in the mood for some corned beef and cabbage. The best way I know of to enjoy this combination is in a Reuben sandwich! I asked my friend Joanne on FB where I might find a good one in Deer Park and she told me about this place. Can't tell you how many times I've passed by this place thinking it was "just a bagel shop." She was right, it is MUCH more. A good sign was that they used all Boar's Head meats and cheeses. I didn't see a "Reuben" on their overhead menu boards but I ordered one anyway. It came out hot and fresh with a dill pickle spear and a side of cole slaw (the other two choices were potato or macaroni salads). I suppose I could've gone with the potato salad in keeping with my "St. Patrick's" theme, but decided to go with the cole slaw (more cabbage with my corned beef, right?). The sandwich was delicious, and I was actually able to eat it AS a sandwich. Too many times I order a Reuben and it comes as an Open Face sandwich that requires a knife and fork to eat. The cole slaw was also very good (I can be picky about my cole slaw). While I was eating, the cashier who took my order came to my table and dropped off a complementary plate of cookies for dessert. We went there just now. Guy was rude. I simply ordered an egg sandwich and a grilled muffin. The muffin was not only stale but way over grilled. It tasted like it was a week old. My egg sandwich was wrong. The egg bagel was not fresh and this was at 6am. It surely was not a hot, fresh bagel. They were definitely selling old food all around. My all time favorite deli ! Best bagel place ever !! Everyone is always so nice and friendly. The food is always excellent. I am super picky with my egg sandwiches and this is the only place to go, I've been coming here for years and only place I have never had an accidental egg shell in a sandwich. The staff is amazing to my two kids. The chopped salad, sandwiches, and side salads are all to die for. They even have done special request pastries for my sister who is allergic to nuts. Been here over 30 times easy. So I'am a fan, but... The line makes zero sense, I wish they would take a week to change the layout somewhat. Since they are making money hand over fist nothing will change. The prices are way to high on all things across the board. More than a Brooklyn bakery who is located in Carroll Gardens! $$$$ But the food is good, some of the staff that sticks around is great! They don't hassle you on credit cards for a $1.50 purchase. I was there today with my kids and personally watched a line almost out of the door. Its a normal saturday morning rush. But let me tell you what made it better. The owner Keith came out with a tray of rainbow cookies, danishes and handed it out to every customer on the line. It was one of the most heart warming expierence I ever recieved from any food establishment. Not only that was such a nice gesture of receiving amazng treats. The service and quickness of the staff was second to none. I must of waited on that line no more than 5 min. I got restless kids and they did not complain once. This bagel store is the best!!! From the bagels to the pastries, they are absolutely amazing. They are so quick with getting people in and out, and there is always huge line. My husband and I get our Christmas Eve breakfast from them; the cream cheese platter and a pastry dish. There are always plenty leftover. However these two came out three times and basically ignored her to the point where she looked at me like WTF. So another minute goes by and I just can't take it and say and I quote " hey guys, this young woman has been waiting for quite awhile and the two of you have just walked bye can you please help her". VERBATIM. The younger of the two came over to help her and then decided it would be a good idea to get loud with me and aggressive. Accusing me of saying that he was not purposely (he was) helping her. Apparently in a desperate attempt to look like a big strong tough guy in front of the young woman who was extremely attractive. He was in fact the biggest asshole I've met in a minute. Not like he physically attacked me or anything but I literally had to put up my hand in his face to get him to shut the fuck up and just help the woman. Paid for my food, thanked the very nice woman helping me and left. Best for last. As the young woman was leaving with her stuff she turned to thank me for my help and captain asshole from behind the counter said "no problem, have a nice day". She just laughed with me as she thanked me again and left. Like I said take that as you will but personally I am disappointed because now I gotta find a new place to go. I honestly think that some of the posts here are written by people who have no idea what they are talking about. These are the best bagels on Long Island. They boil the bagels before baking them. That is the only way to make a bagel. Anything else is a roll with a hole in it. They are also a nice size. No skimpy little bagels here. The people there have always been nice to me. I have never seen the bad attitudes that some are mentioning and I have been a regular customer for years. Loved this bagel place in a big shopping center. Everything looked so fresh, and there was a huge line which is usually a great indication of good food. Also, the people waiting on line were so diverse...business suits, maintenance guys, and kids were oohing and ahhing over the dessert window. I got the chicken salad with apples and it was delicious. THEY NEVER GET OUR ORDER CORRECT! We send out someone from our office there at least once a week and they never get our breakfast order correct. The woman behind the counter never writes it down and something is always incorrect. We can not sit there and open every sandwich on the counter and it is not worth the time going back. I will just go to Emma's or Newstand from now on. However, the food is good. Just not what we ordered. Wouldn't be a problem but you can't put cheese on a sandwich where someone is allergic to milk or bacon on a vegetarians egg and cheese. read more

10:50 am on Tuesday, tall middle aged man behind the counter was rude. He had an attitude and blew me off with "I don't know what to tell you" while moving on to the next customer before I was finished. They claimed to not get my call in order (which was a lie), and instead of offering to make it for me and asking what I wanted, he blew me off and ignored me. I come to this place constantly and frequently order large orders for the school I work in. Never again. Huge deterrent. He needs to be trained on customer service. Oh my god, I'm in love with this place. I stopped here just on a whim when looking for lunch one day when I was out in the Brentwood area. Wish I lived closer. LOCATION: In shopping center next to CVS, starbucks and food store off Deer Park ave. DECOR: Big place, bigger than your average deli. Good amount of seating too. FOOD: Oh boy, the food!!! First off, they have like 20 different types of bagels you can get (strange flavors you don't often see, too, like honey wheat and vegetable bagels). Then they have tons of sandwich choices, most around $7.75 (not too bad). They come with side salad and a pickle. Also have a large salad bar. They also have tons of pastries and cakes as well. You can even purchase premade wraps and salads. I ordered the Time Square sandwich which was cracked pepper turkey, bacon, swiss cheese, cole slaw, and Russian dressing on a roll. Oh my god it was delicious!! On the board it said hot bacon and melted swiss, but I expected it to all just be thrown on a roll quickly. But nope, the bacon was hot and crispy, the cheese was all melted and the cole slaw was chilled so the sandwich had a great hot/cold combo. Interesting and tasty that the cole slaw was actually ON the sandwich as well. I ordered the potato salad and I am a picky person with my salads so I figured maybe that wouldn't be good, but no. It was amazing, really good flavor and texture. I then turned to the pickle, I figured that would probably not taste good (because obviously something has to be wrong with this meal, its rare you get a meal and everything is perfect haha). But no!! The pickle was so crispy and delicious, ugh. I couldn't contain myself. SERVICE: Service was average, people behind the counter seemed friendly.
