Worst barbershop I've ever been to. Asked for a skin fade with a fringe on top. They cut all my hair off. Asked for my beard to be lined up, they got ready to cut off my whole beard then when I said just a line up not everything off they ask what I want lined up.. they put a hot towel over my face that I didn't ask for and charged me 20$ for a hot towel to be put on . They don't line the beard at all completely ruined my haircut and I tipped them 20$ because I didn't check my hair fully because I was on my lunch break 80$ total for the worst haircut of my life if I had taken time to check the work they did I would have walked out. read more

Very nice guys. Want to like them but unfortunately had a bad cut the first time and gave them a second try to find the same disappointment. Sideburns are entirely gone on one side and left on the other. One side is cleaned up around the ears and the other is not. The cut is generally uneven (and I have the most simple of cuts.) On my way to Central Park from work, I needed to get my head shaved and I wanted an old skool style barber shop that would do it at a fair price. I was lucky enough to run across First Class Barber Shop which fulfilled both requirements. Located on the second floor of a smaller building in the area, First Class seated me right away. Their prices were quite reasonable, with a straight razor shave going for $20. Many shops don't even do this type of shave anymore, so to find a place that did it without being given nasty looks or grumbling was refreshing. Edit: In reply to the owner, I am 100% sure this is the place. Red pool table and all. I was just there. This was the worst haircut I've had in years. It's not a terrible cut overall because most of the bad cuts I've had were sloppy or uneven, but this was not at all what I asked for and not at all what I like. I have a very easy cut so I don't mind going anywhere. I get about a half inch off the top with a three on the sides with a taper. It is almost always a good cut anywhere. I was out of town and wanted a cut. This place had rave reviews and was near my hotel so I figured I'd go. First, he did a bad taper. Most tapers take like 3-4 different length clippers. He used 2. It barely had any taper at all and was long at the bottom. Then, he cut my hair too short. I told him a half inch and even showed how much I wanted off. He started cutting about 1/4 of an inch off. I said I wanted a little more and he said he was coming back over it and does this first. Ive never had someone do that, but what do I know about methods for cutting hair? Then he took like another half inch off when he came back over it. It didn't look bad, but was just a little too short. However now, the sides looked even worse. It was already too long over the ears, but with shorter hair on top, it looked bad. I asked for a little more off the bottom. He said "it's a 4 here" pointing to the top of the sides. I told him that part is fine and that I only wanted the bottom a little shorter with more of a taper. I was pointing to the areas of my head so there was no confusion. He said he got it then started taking more off the bottom with the shorter clippers but was going a little high. Then he took a longer clipper out and went the rest of way up the sides! I literally just said the top of the sides was fine, but now he is went shorter all the way up. It was too late to do anything so I let him finish. He never used any more clippers so it was still a two clipper taper, aka no taper. Plus now instead of taking the clippers just up the sides he went all the way to my part. I hate that look. Now that it was super short, I asked him to run the clippers over my beard since it looked silly at its length. I said I didn't need it shaped or styled. Just shorter. He did it and charged me an extra $10 for a beard trim. This wouldn't be that big of a deal if not for the rest. Technically I did get a beard trim. But dude, that $10 is for the shaping part of a beard trim not the cut. It took 30 seconds to run the clippers over my face. I know I should've stopped trying after he cut it too short, but I assumed he would listen. He didn't and now I'm furious. Do not go here. read more

Came by on a weekend, there was only one guy working in the chair on the right (chair is by itself opposite the row of chairs on the left). Probably one of the worst cuts I've gotten in the city. Everyone gets a bit nervous when they try a new barber, but I was uneasy the entire time I was in the chair. The barber's movements were very erratic and I never once felt I was in good hands. I gave clear (and simple directions). His attention to detail wasn't good, and he even cut over my hard part and made a new one in the wrong place (not where my hair usually parts). Afterwards, when I tried to point out some parts of my hair that weren't cut properly, he seemed impatient and upset, and even though he fixed some of it, I ended up just leaving cause it wasn't worth it anymore. In the past, I would have to travel far to go to my favorite shop. Lucky for me that was no longer the case. My friend recommended First Class Barbershop so I gave it a shot. Went during lunch. Did not get anything near what I asked for. Hair all over the place. This guy was in a rush and did not take the time to make sure I was clean, was shaking and smelled like an ashtray. No straight razor. If you care about your haircut.. Don't go. If you don't know what a good hair cut is or you just don't care then this is your place. Really just a terrible cut. I should have walked out. So bad I went to my own barber who evened it out the best she could. Thank god my hair grows quick. Terrible terrible terrible uneven amateur haircut. TERRIBLE. Tip: If you're close and looking for a fast cut this is a good option. Fade was $18 and I gave a $5 tip. Less than 25 minutes and $23 dollars. I work around the corner on 5th ave and I was walking to a barber up the road that I had been to once before. I passed this place and saw someone was getting ready to pay so I assumed it might be faster to stop in here. The first thing I do is look at the people leaving the shop who just go their cut. His looked alright so I left safe. The barber shop is clean and open. There were 4 barbers cutting on the Thursday 12pm that I went. I got right into a chair and the barber started cutting. He told me what I wanted done pretty much haha..but he was right on with what I had in mind. I had to ask him to trim my bangs after he had finished but that was no problem. I was in and out in 20 minutes. I will likely go back here if I need a quick cut on my lunch hour. read more
