I've been here a few times and it's always been fine. Today I went and left with one of the worst haircuts of my life. On top of that this guy was a conspiracy theorist and basically called me an idiot for challenging him on some of his statements that were racist and offensive to my culture. On top of all of this upon me tell him multiple times during and before my haircut not to touch the top of my hair, he cut off about 2 inches (my hair was about 4 to begin with). I genuinely can't leave my apartment without wearing a hat. The haircut is geniunely so bad that I think he might've done it maliciously. Seriously never step foot in here unless you want to be insulted, treated rudely, and have some guy spend an entire hour making your hair look terrible. read more

I showed the dude a video of a haircut and told him "this is what I want". I asked if he thought that would fit me and he said "yeah sure". He didn't even try to go for even close to that style, and what he did go for wasn't good . Everywhere they state that they take contactless, but when I asked to Apple Pay they started fiddling with the square system that didn't work. Made me walk all the way to my apartment and back to pay and when I do pay he says "you know you could've tipped right" and stares at me mad annoyed at why I didn't tip, like dawg the nerve (after all that). They also had beer bottles all around and the tables in the room and a half empty six pack case (bro what ). Like I get wanting to have a good vibe at your shop but it was kinda dead anyway, felt strange. Also man was kinda rough with the tools which is whatever but doesn't help at all. TLDR; 35$ for a bad cut, didn't listen to what I wanted, had to walk home and back because they say they have contactless but they don't, and had the audacity to get annoyed when I didn't tip, had beer bottles lying around. Went in here first time today to try a new barber. Never again....way too expensive. Just needed a simple trim (I had a haircut a few weeks ago, so just needed to freshen up). Simple trim - $38 plus tip (and irritatingly - only option to tip 25% or higher without doing custom tip - I hate this practice and it tells me all I need to know about this place). I've tried a few other barbers in the area - pricing ranging from $28-$32 for a full haircut. $38 for a simple trim is too much. I recommend trying one of the other many barbers in Midtown east. read more

So I have been living in the city for about 4 years now and finally found a barbershop that I can trust. Midtown East Barbers is everything I was looking for in a barber shop. Great environment, great people, and of course, a great haircut. Mike and his crew will treat you well every single time you walk in there. I find it very hard to find a barber you can trust, especially after I have had the same barber for 10+ years back where I grew up. So finding this gem was a relief. Not once have I ever been disappointed in a cut that I got here which really shows how dedicated and skilled the barbers are. I usually get a low skin fade with a slight trim on the top. A low skin fade is not that easy and takes time. Mike has never rushed no matter what the situation was, and has always made sure it was as perfect as it can get. I couldn't appreciate that more in a barber. It shows his dedication and commitment to his clients. I have seen the guys in there cut long hair, short hair, fades, man buns, etc. They can do it all. So if you are like me and are looking for a barber shop that you can trust, Midtown East Barbers is the way to go. read more

Recently opened by a brash and talented fellow from Queens, this is the neighborhood barber shop from your childhood, updated for the 21st century. He is dedicated to getting your cut just right. Unhappy for months with how my hair had been looking, I had been searching for a new barber who was more than one note. One afternoon while walking in my neighborhood, I stumbled across this place that had just opened up. Mike was able to take me immediately and gave me the haircut I had been searching for. I cannot tell you how satisfied with his "bedside manner", but more importantly, his skill. My previous barber only knew how to shave the sides of my head, not build a correct fade, nor did he know how to cut the long hair on top. Well, Mike blew me away with how he not only built the fade I was looking for, but also applied traditional styling techniques to cut the long hair on top. Walked right by this place as I was doing errands in my neighborhood. To me this is the perfect kind of spot : around $25 for a cut and a great vibe. Mike is friendly and easygoing, and he did a great job cutting my hair. Usually no matter how much I spend my haircuts follow the 48 hour rule (look bad the first 2 days) but this one looked good right from the start.
