Hottest day of the year but no air conditioning was my first clue this would be a disappointing experience. I had ordered a whole pie ahead of time and arranged to pick it up on my way to a friend's home. I was disappointed that the pie came out of the freezer. Had I known, I could have picked one up at the grocery store for a lot less. The pie, which was still partially frozen when my friend served it, was just ok. Nothing special.

No frills, quick service, perfect place to split a piece of a pie on a weekend morning. Feels homey and exactly what you want in a pie shop.

Such a cute place. Although the AC wasn't working so we just took our pies to go. The strawberry Rhubarb was so refreshing. The French silk was delicious, tasted like cool whip. And the blueberry cheesecake had the best crust. Will definitely be back to try some more. They also do a meal prep/ delivery service

Came here with friends on the recommendation of one of them. I wasn't even hungry, but the menu looked SO good that I ended up getting a sandwich--perfectly warm, melty, toasty and savory--as well as a slice of pie and a cookie. The salad that came with had apples and a light vinaigrette and was a nice counter to the sandwich. The flavorings of the seasonal lemonades are made in-house and it was so refreshing and good that I got a second! I wish I had gotten the name of the person who helped us, because her recommendations were spot-on, and it was all such a great and unexpectedly delightful experience considering it was an off-the-cuff visit. Will definitely be back to try more sandwiches and pie!

Finally got over to first slice on Montrose and Damen. This is a very casual coffeehouse/dining room experience. Brunch is served on Sundays. Menu is limited but delicious, not to mention homemade pie for dessert (no pie picture because I ate it before I thought to grab one!). Omelettes are huge with a nice variety of additions available, mine was smoked Gouda, ham, and mushrooms. The potatoes were light and crispy. The delicious salad was unexpected but a nice addition (it also had a good vinaigrette). Really good coffee. Order at the cashier and grab a seat at a table or carry out. Pie-as always- to die for. Very reasonable cost.

Green Lasagna. Comes with tasty Apple and Baby Lettuce Side Salad.

Their takeout food is delicious. Although they might use cilantro in their chili? The sour cherry Michigan pie is delicious not sour at all.

I wish I was able to travel with one of their cheesecakes but they require refrigeration. Anyhow the cheesecake itself was delicious super light, fluffy, and honestly felt like biting into a cloud. I had the salted egg but they had several flavor options that I would've loved to try if slices were available. The texture is what really stands out, and the flavor was unique and interesting in a good way. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it taste like, but it was sweet, but not too sweet They only sale but I consider a personal size but it's definitely enough to share with two people, maybe even three depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have. My only downside like others is the price. Paying around $19-$20 for a small cheesecake felt a bit steep, especially since they don't offer slices. I really wish they had smaller portions available so you could try different flavors without committing to a full cake prize. They package it very well and they also serve you a cute little fork set and a knife for cutting which I think is contributes to the price. The shop itself is very cute with chic décor and a lot of Asian-inspired artwork, which adds to the overall vibe. Customer service was friendly. When I visit Chicago again I'd definitely go back the texture and taste alone make it worth it but I do hope they consider offering smaller portions in the future.

We got here when it just was opening. The place was clean and the staff was really nice. We got the sweet roasted milk and it was very good and unique flavor. We were watching them while they were making that and the cheesecake and you can tell they put a lot of care and in time to their products.

One thing I personally did not like was that they require customers to pay first before the food comes out. For a sit-down restaurant, I prefer to eat first and pay after, especially when service is expected. The service was not very proactive during our visit. The food was okay, but nothing really stood out to me. For the price, I felt it was a little pricey compared to Taipei Cafe, and the overall experience did not feel worth it. Overall, the food was just alright, the service could be improved, and the pay-first system was not something I liked. I don't think I would come back.

The taiwanese style popcorn chicken and pork cutlet were super juicy and tender with nicely crisp breading. The sausage had a pleasant sweetness to it and was served with garlic chips, which added a nice touch. Finally, the broth of the Sichuan noodles was packing with flavor: sweet, tangy, spicy, umami - truly hit all the spots without being too numbing to your mouth, if thats one of your concerns Would definitely return to try the other menu items, especially their hot sizzling plates and their dessert/drink offerings
