Not wanting to risk a bad breakfast experience this morning, I went with FIRST WATCH. I've been to many FIRST WATCH locations in the United States and have always been satisfied. A bad breakfast experience is no way to start a Monday morning. This is the first time I visited this location in Upper Arlington. It is located in a shopping mall area so it has convenient and plentiful parking. Greeted by the hostess and promptly seated, I was staring at a "Watermelon Wake-Up" ($5.79) within five minutes of being seated. Pricey but the watermelon flavor came through including enough sweetness. I could have had the Kale Tonic but that is not this guy. They serve mostly American Breakfast Classics on their large menu. I ordered the Ham & Gruyere ($13.99). This strikes me more like a French Classic. Well, they did say mostly. It was tasty, well seasoned with toast and a small cup of fruit on the side. Coffee was $3.99 with refills. Service was efficient with check-backs and lots of conversation. I thought that I could talk. read more

Inside has lots of seating. If you are looking for a quiet breakfast go on Sunday. It's less busy. Went in got my basic ala carte breakfast due to food allergies. Got two orders of bacon, two eggs over easy, and breakfast potatoes. Everything was cooked right, and tasted great. All that I have come to expect of First Watch. Enjoyed a coffee as well. Service was excellent. There is parking here, not like the downtown one. Much better here. I will keep coming back. read more

Thank you to First Watch for the delicious iced coffee, which has me caffeinated and ready to write my first review of 2024! I could spend the whole review just writing a love letter to the iced coffee. It has it all going on. Always plenty of ice, perfectly sweetened, slight hint of vanilla flavor. I typically order for takeout at First Watch and I always pick something off the seasonal "specials" list. Generally, the food has always tasted delicious. My only caveat is that they are very light handed on the meat and the toppings. You will be playing Where's Waldo looking for the brisket or the barbacoa. They are also very stingy with sour cream for some reason. Anyways. The food tastes so good, that I don't get hung up on that. Staff at this location is always great and orders have always been ready for pickup on time. read more

The food is very good for the price. Everything is tasty and eggs are always made consistently right. However, the Purple Haze juice drink was made with much too much Lavendar. I couldn't taste any of the other ingredients. It was like drinking grandmothers bar soap. Good food, mixed service. On an early Saturday morning, our server was fantastic, but the woman at the front was incredibly rude. My friend joined the wait list for a party of 4 while we were on our way, and we arrived just in time for them to be "ready" for us. When she approached, she said she received confirmation and gave our name and party size. The host was visibly annoyed and said, "What?" as if she had never heard of the wait list system. My friend showed the host her screen, and, still visibly annoyed, the host looked back at her own screen, scrolled for a while, and said deadpan, "Table for 2?" 1.) We submitted "4" online. 2.) We introduced ourselves as a party of 4. 3.) We were all 4 standing together and talking, and were made very uncomfortable by the interaction as a whole but especially the assumption that the 2 of us who are POC were not part of the group. So yeah, the host should definitely not be someone working in the front of the store, or maybe interacting with customers at all. That aside, our server was very friendly and skilled, making sure alongside the kitchen to accommodate my party's dietary restrictions. The food was pretty good. The best dish by fair was the Million Dollar Hash. Very flavorful, although it was a bit salty. I'd still recommend trying while the seasonal menu is still around; hopefully it's not normally so salty. Everything came out fairly quickly and just as ordered. It was steady but not packed, mostly families and older couples. A very Bob Evan's feel, with this type of crowd as well as the quaint farmhouse-esque decor. Had brunch here recently and it was good. We had to wait about 45 min to get seated, but we also showed up on a Sunday at 11:30am. Not a lot of seating for waiting. When we did get seated, our table was clean and our server was fast. The reason I didn't give higher stars was because the floor was so slippery. It wasn't just me, I saw others slipping and sliding on the dining room floor too. I don't know it was just recently waxed, or if a bunch of oil was spilled in it without being properly cleaned, but it was really hard to walk and not slip and fall! Clean, well stocked bathrooms as well. Nice staff. They have a bit of everything, but my favorites are their juices, "power bowls", and seasonal selections. The service has a bit of a Bob Evans feel to it (but the food is much better, in my opinion). I have now been to two of the franchised First Watch restaurants...my hometown restaurant in Dublin, and most recently, the location in Upper Arlington. And, to be honest, I always have ordered the eggs Benedict when I'm in one of these restaurants because finding this particular meal at another restaurant would be particularly difficult. Each time the meal was excellent with the breakfast potatoes on the side, service was quick and efficient. I don't particularly think this restaurant has, nor needs "ambience". I have rated First Watch with four stars, because I have not attempted to have any of their other meals of which I'm sure are just as popular. read more

This is the second location in the city that I've been to. I knew there was one here but had never been. I accidentally parked on the emergency entrance side and had to walk around to the other side of the building. No problem for me since it was fine outside. My friend had put her name down for a table through the app. Pretty nifty! Didn't even know they had one! As soon as we got there, we were seated! It even gives you the wait time and how many are in front of you in line. Good job, First Watch! We were a group of 5, but they seated us at a booth with plenty of elbow room. The space didn't seem super large. They had lots of farm themed pictures, and wooden beams and such. I will add that I wish they had changed the ceiling to go with the farmhouse theme...it looked like a regular ceiling you'd see in a classroom with random wooden beams all over. I ordered the trifecta: chose to get my eggs scrambled, a multigrain pancake, and turkey sausages. The sausages were dry! And the eggs were white, yellow, and a darker yellow. They didn't mix it well in the bowl. The pancake was very good though! One other girl got the same thing I did but with bacon instead of the sausages. She had the same complaint about the eggs. She also thought the waiter could've smiled more. I'm sure it had been a long day. We got there a bit past noon. Some of the other girls got eggs Benedict, breakfast tacos, and another girl got something else with gluten free toast. She liked it. Glad they've got gluten free options! Why the 3 stars? I used to eat First Watch a lot in undergrad. I loved it with a passion until I tried other better restaurants. Still, it's a solid choice for brunch. Lots of options, great prices, the wait is never long, and you can get breakfast or lunch. Parking is also plentiful so no issue with that. read more

Memoria day breakfast! Staff was very friendly, food came out quicker than expected, and the meal was good. I got the ham and swiss omelette, and the honey got avocado toast. For a chain restaurant, I wasn't expected to be so delighted at the selection of breakfast, brunch, lunch and drink options. I got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal milk cocktail. It was rum based with cold brew and oat milk. There was even a cinnamon stick to use as a straw. I'm not sure if it was meant to be used that way, but it was. I'm not one for checking out at the cash register after breakfast, but I'll let it slide because the staff checked us out immediately. I'll be returning for the lemon ricotta pancakes! read more

2nd time at a First Watch. 1st time at this location. We were seated quickly (Monday, early afternoon). The menu items looked interesting... Different. I ordered the Elevated egg sandwich with a side of potatoes. Delicious! Bread was soft. I also ordered the morning meditation drink. I ordered it coz it sounded cool and had turmeric in it (good for you). It was good and refreshing! My husband and son ordered the Asian quinoa bowl. They raved about it. I had a taste and agree... Two thumbs up! The decor was farmhouse... Nice. Our server was friendly and attentive. Didn't catch her name but she was a pretty, taller brunette with cool tattoos on her arms. I have to shoutout the a.m. crew there this morning after receiving exceptional service even on a carry out order! Picked up around 9:55am. Everyone was polite, pleasant and made sure they could accommodate before we received our order. Phenomenal place and people!!! What a great way to kick off our Friday!! Also the food taste exceptional as well this morning! Very, very, pleased. I only wish they'd update their website to allow no egg/substitution options instead of having to call it in but that doesn't negate the fact I received great service even when calling. I met some family friends at First Watch, a place my family and I often went together when my dad was alive. We always subbed toast/potatoes for a pancake. i requested the same as usual and we are sitting enjoying our coffee when the manager (unasked for) decided to come talk at us with a major attitude. She said flatly, "We don't do that" and in such a negative, witchy way. I said calmly, "We have subbed out pancakes for the last 20 years." She lashed out, "I have been the MANAGER here for the last THREE years..." we were all gobsmacked and taken aback she was talking back to me! So much for a meaningful breakfast. She really cast a pall on the whole meal. She was just awful and ruined the warm fuzzy feeling. You don't come at a customer trying to one-up them! How about, "As a general rule we no longer do that, just remember for next time" then give us the damn pancake. I think Gordon Ramsey would have something to say about alienating and being rude to your customers. read more

The remodel. The new menu. The larger, more well-staffed kitchen and swift seating system thanks to NoWait's merger into Yelp... I love the new local farmhouse rustic look. The tables looks like they are remnant bespoke barn doors stained and treated as serviceable serving tops. The entire space is more open and less stifling, giving a communal space feel but with elbow room. The food definitely is upgraded in both taste and plating, taking a page from the extremely impressive Mill Run location's playbook. All combined, I'm impressed. Well I went here on a Sunday morning and like every other breakfast places it was packed. Still the wait was not long, though they did have empty tables not yet bussed; It could had been shorter. I agreed to sit at the long communal table that they have instead of a bar. Bullet points: --Coffee is a little beliw par, I've had much better coffee at numerous places around. It will do though, it is not gross, but it is below the average. --Ordered hot cakes and sausage. Hot cakes, blueberries inbedded just like I like them. It was the grainy style just like I don't unfortunately, but my fault I failed to ask. It was a good quality cake, the berries popping blue on the tongue. The sausage, fat juicy links cooked through and savory were divine. I love thick links. The service was great once I seated and not counting them failing behind bussing. My friends and I always end up here for brunch on Saturday or Sunday! Though it's always busy, we never wait more than 15 minutes, especially when you can call ahead and get your name on the list early. I get the same thing every time- the traditional breakfast- because it has everything I crave: eggs, bacon, toast, and potatoes. The bacon is honestly some of the best I've ever had, and they give you several big slices. This is always enough to fill me up, and I feel like it's reasonably priced. I have to have coffee at breakfast and there's is surprisingly good for a chain restaurant! Besides the food, the service is great. Our waiters are always friendly and efficient. I have been here twice since Covid, neither time did I eat. They are understaffed and under managed.
