This is my most favorite breakfast spot in Pittsburgh. Amidst all the greasy places this place stands apart and offers both healthy and delicious options. There's a reason this place is always packed. Last time I went we were greeted with waters and a fresh pot of coffee. I ordered the "Bacado", an omelette with bacon and avocado with a side of their amazing wheat toast and salad (you can opt for their potatoes too if you prefer). Of course I had to get a chocolate chip pancake as well, which was both light and fluffy. My husband got a western omelette with toast and potatoes. I desperately wanted to love this place. Great Location? Check. An interesting menu with a twist on breakfast? Check. People are actually waiting for a seat? Check. (The last one is an indication to me that it's probably worth the wait). First Watch had the makings of what could be a great breakfast/brunch experience and I left a little disappointed. The service was good. We seemed to get there right before the late breakfast/lunch crowd and we were seated almost immediately which was great! Afterwards I did find out that there is an app that we can also use to set up reservations with First Watch which is helpful for those long waits. Either way the service was good with refills of beverages, help with the menu for people in the group who weren't really sure what they wanted, and the food came out quickly. However, for a menu that seemed like a new, fresh take on the classic breakfast menu, I was a little disappointed. The seasoned potatoes weren't really well seasoned and the Chile Chorizo Omelet that I had lacked the southwest spice that I was hoping for. The coffee was amazing though, as was their preserves with the toast. What they do offer is a ton of healthy options at the same cost which I have to say is refreshing in a time where healthy alternatives and options are typically more expensive. I came in here this morning for brunch, and let me tell you it was so delicious! I had the Floridian French Toast. It was topped with kiwi, strawberries and bananas. With a side of berry jelly. Cute little place, really stupid hours, open 7:00 am to 2:30 pm, seven days a week. Some of my most memorable breakfasts have been enjoyed at 2:00 am, so that clearly leaves this place out. Good service is my favorite part of eating out and we did not have it here. I suspect that our prissy little server has been forced by her tyrannical parents to get a job to earn her own spending money for Europe later this summer and she is not happy about it. Or maybe she is just in fear of breaking a nail or just unhappy to have to get up before noon or missing her tanning time. I don't know. But I got orange juice instead of apple. She had to be asked to wipe our dirty table, wasn't cleaned off from the last customers. Plus, she seemed to have a hard time finding carry out containers when we weren't able to clean our plates! And also, the table next door all got chocolate muffins when they ordered no muffins at all! We had an Acapulco Express omelet and a Sensational Skillet with avocado, tomato and bacon. Their potatoes are good and who doesn't love a nicely toasted English muffin? Plus, I like any restaurant that serves you a fresh fruit cup! I'll probably go back, and hope I get a good server! Like everyone else says, fresh, healthy, "as good as it gets", food. I wish that they would open a location closer to where I live. Tip: If you're planning on coming here, allow for extra time. It's been my experience each time that I've come here that I had to give them a cell phone number and that they would call when a table opens... between 20 and 40 minutes. This is a great place! I took a few clients out to lunch yesterday and frankly, I would have been satisfied with not Primanti Bros. This very respectful customer had a place all picked out and he even had a coupon for his birthday - this was very much appreciated as he knows I have a rich expense account. We were promptly seated in a sunny corner table and were immediately offered coffee (diner style - read - turn over your cup) or juice. Like Julie D., I can eat breakfast as any meal of the day but sadly, my days of doing so at 2 AM are over, so the fact that this place is only open until 2:30 PM is fine by me. The menu was a pleasant surprise. Here you can find omelets with interesting ingredients, one of my clients had the Bacado. It looked fluffy and yummy. I had the Floridian French toast - sourdough bread, covered with fresh bananas, kiwi and berries. What made this special was the wheat germ - which served to give it oomph by adding texture without extra calories. When I get back, I would love to try the Crepeggs - I love that they have crepes. I wish they had some sweet ones with cream and fruit but you will only find savory ones on this menu. My dining companions told me that most of the staff are college students who can work there specifically because of the limited hours. Our server was very competent and pleasant. Great little breakfast/brunch spot! It was bustling when we went around 11:30 Saturday morning, but the wait wasn't too long. I tried their avocado toast that comes with 2 eggs. According to the menu (and waitress) the eggs with it are supposed to come runny, but I asked for mine to be cooked hard. Regretted that later, they were rubbery. But the toast was terrific - thick slices of bread with a healthy application of chunky avocado. Now that's what I call avocado toast. Cute, clean, hipster vibe, family friendly. First thing's first, if you're not using the NoWait app to get in here, you should. Or go super early, or sometime in that magic post-rush hour, whenever that may be. Otherwise, be prepared for a wait. Secondly, I'm a big fan of establishments that focus on breakfast and lunch, as annoyed as I am when I'm in the mood for a waffle after 3 o'clock in the afternoon and those types of places are closed. So anyway, good on FirstWatch for showing up in Cranberry and giving another alternative to Denny's, Bob Evans, Eat 'n' Park, and Perkins, especially in that north-of-228/Freedom Rd. territory. Firstwatch is always clean and the staff are mostly friendly. I say "mostly" because sometimes service can be hit-or-miss. It's usually prompt, but there have been a few occasions where I felt like my server wasn't being rude, but not exactly friendly either. Granted, it's not an easy gig to do, let alone during a busy time, so I've never let it really bog down my experience. One thing I have noticed is that the portions seem a bit smaller than, say, one of the aforementioned comparable chain restaurants, but the prices are on par. Then again, I feel like an ugly American for even pointing that out; we tend to value quantity over quality, and the quality is just fine. And it's not exactly like I've ever left here hungry, either. All in all, this is quickly becoming one of my solid go-to spots for brunch, especially after tying one on the night before. read more

Thanks to Yelp reviews, I stopped here for an early breakfast on my way from Northern VA to South Bend, IN. The breakfast was so good, I stopped by for lunch on the way home. Anyone traveling I-76 should stop and give it a try. Great Service, Excellent good -- an eclectic choice of ingredients that go together well, and I can't remember eating food this good that was prepared this fast! I'm not kidding. I just wish we had a First Watch in NoVA. My breakfast was incredible -- I had a multigrain (banana granola crunch) pancake with two strips of bacon (perfectly tasty AND crispy -- didn't have to ask for extra crispy like I usually do) and eggs. My son had pumpkin pancakes, that were amazing, with turkey sausage, also great. For lunch I had the current special -- hand pulled pork with maple chutney and tomato basil soup -- both were fantastic. My son had the club sandwich with salad greens - very tasty as well. Aside from trying to get in, we love the food at the First Watch!' The Inspired Italian omelet is amazing! Full of Italian sausage, peppers, onions, and sun dried tomatoes! I am sorry that I cannot recommend this restaurant. We visited on a busy Sunday morning. It appeared that their online waiting list app wasn't working properly. Accordingly, we waited 43 minutes to be seated. I did feel sorry for the servers who were clearly overworked. As for the food, only one person in our party of five was satisfied with his order. I ordered Eggs Benedict and it was a major disappointment. The english muffins weren't toasted properly and the eggs weren't cooked correctly. The whole thing was also cold. My fellow diners had similar complaints. To top things off, the urinal in the men's bathroom was malfunctioning. Perhaps we chose a bad day. Went to this place around 9am on a Thursday. It was not busy inside, and we were taken to a table. Despite the fact that several servers came past our table, no one stopped to even ask about drinks. Women who came in right before us were given coffee and orders were taken before anyone came to our table. Several servers stopped to talk to a patron near us who had clearly mentioned that no one had come by to our table. After 10 minutes without service, we left. I have never left a restaurant before, but it was incomprehensible that no one stopped to our table in that time. First Watch is a "go-to" for my family wherever we are. I know the menu and items will be consistent and the quality is always top notch. I live in Cincinnati and am relocating to Cranberry Township. I visited both locations on consecutive Sundays for breakfast. I had the avocado toast in both locations and the family shared Floridian French Toast, Million Dollar Bacon, Waffles, Smoked Salmon Benedict, BLTE, and a Kale cleanse juice. Everything we shared and ate was fresh, delicious, and cooked to order. Both locations gave us fast friendly service despite being VERY busy. My first experience at First Watch was "meh". The restaurant is fresh, clean and friendly. My particular waitress was pleasant if not exactly friendly. I was looking forward to the crepelet (sp?) and it was interesting and even tasty, but very overcooked and the English muffin was stale. The salsa that comes in a little ramekin was really good, but the sad cubes of potatoes that came with were mediocre at best. Overall, the meal I ate had no love at all. So this is normally a go to spot for breakfast, however after the last experience not so sure. First off, it was probably 62 degrees inside. I was shivering, and even my husband was cold (and he usually is always hot). I had to go outside in the rain to get a jacket from the car it was that cold. Then, my husband ordered a chickichanga and it had mushrooms in it. He vehemently hates mushrooms. Had to send it back. So I was finished with my meal, and had to wait in the cold until he got his. I have gone back now. This time, I am happy to report, the service was stellar. Our server was friendly and attentive. She was able to answer our questions thouroughly and without hesitation. The food was tasty, but nothing special. The eggs tasted like ... eggs! :-D I had the lemon ricotta pancakes. As advertised, the pancake was quite large. Each element individually wasn't very impressive. The pancake was bland. the lemon curd was overly sweet and had none of the tart zing one usually expects of lemon curd. Taken together (along with some strawberries), however, the blandness and the over sweetness balance each other out creating a surprisingly pleasant whole. Where this establishment really shines is in the fresh squeezed juices. The portions are small, but delicious. I tried both the carrot orange ginger juice and the beet juice layered over orange juice. Both had a fresh, clean taste with perhaps tending just a little towards over sweetness but not so much as to be oppressive. The juice is available to go. I still haven't gone back...yet However, I wanted to bump up my review a star for the responsiveness of First Watch corporate and the local manager. After I posted this review, the corporate customer service contacted me almost immediately via Yelp to fix the issue. Today, I received a voice mail from the manager of this location. OK, I must admit that from its location in an upscale strip mall in the middle WV coal country, my expectations were not heightened. Could the numerous prior reviews be believed? My BW and I were astounded by this hidden gem. It blends into the surroundings of the other modern storefronts to the extent that I drove past it once in my search. Families gathering out front signaled its popularity. The people gathering at about 10AM on a Sunday morning was just beginning to build. The first surprise was adding our name to the wait list. Give them your cell # and via text they'll confirm your status and then alert you when your table is ready. You can browse in the adjacent shops while you're waiting. Pretty nifty. We were seated within 10 minutes. A carafe of fresh coffee was placed at our table quickly after we sat down. A nice touch. The menu contained many appealing, creative choices. I selected the Tri-fecta, and egg and waffle combo with a side of bacon or sausage. My BW ordered the more traditional 2 eggs, home fries and toast. What arrived was beautifully presented and, more importantly, delicious. In addition to syrup, a blueberry compote was also provided to embellish the waffle. The waffle was light, tasty and had the exterior crunch of one just off the griddle. I'd order the waffles again just for the compote! I snuck a couple of my BW's home fries since, to me, it's the quality of the HFs that determines if I'd come back. The HFs were delicately seasoned and freshly prepared. We stopped for a quick breakfast on a whim. The service was prompt and friendly. However, the food was pretty mediocre at best. I ordered my eggs over easy, however they were so over cooked that I had no yolk run out. They were cooked over hard. The potatoes were just "meh" because some of them were so cooked that they were hard and actually hurt my teeth. I also ordered a side of lettuce with a lemon drizzle or something, and it was basically just a pile of lettuce on a plate with barely any dressing. I would probably not go back to this place.
