Despite the dissappointment, he thoroughly enjoyed his sandwich that our server recommended. Guess we'll see The Godfather the next time. Visited on a Friday morning for a quick bite before running errands. It was a little busy but the staff was kind and we were patient. We were seated not too long after and given menus. After reviewing their menu, the seasonal items, and the beverages we decided to order drinks while deciding on food. I ordered water and herbal tea, my husband ordered a water and watermelon wake up. We decided what we wanted to eat when the drinks came. My tea was hot water with an assortment of 4ish different types of tea bags. For food I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Roasted Veggie Frittata with potatoes and it came with a slice of artisan bread. My husband ordered the seasonal Chipotle Steak and Queso Hash. As we waited for our food we drank our drinks and talked. Food didn't take long and everything looked delicious. Table to 2 for breakfast We pulled into the shared parking lot and found a spot right in front. We entered and were greeted warmly. I said we wanted a table for two. I saw a lady waiting outside so I thought there might be a wait but we immediately led to a nice table near the open kitchen. I then looked up and saw they had outside seating. Our server, Julius, came by and we asked if we could move outside and he said no problem. He scooped up our menus and led us outside to the covered patio. Wifey ordered a coffee and initially I also ordered a coffee but then I asked if they had any specialty coffees. He informed me they did not have any hot options but showed me the iced choices on the menu. I quickly reviewed and ordered the Mint Mocha covered in Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips. The drinks came out quickly and that mocha was more than I expected but it was very good. Julius ran off after dropping off our drinks and when he returned we were ready with our food choices. I ordered the French Toast, minus the mixed berry compote that is included, and added a side of bacon. Wifey ordered "The Traditional"; 2 eggs, choice of meat, toast and seasoned potatoes. She chose the chicken apple sausage pattie which you don't usually see as a side option. I was sipping and sipping on my coffee and it was gone before the food arrived. The patio has a good open layout with overhead fans to keep the air moving. The food arrived quickly and we started digging in. My French Toast and bacon looked fresh and tasted delicious. The French toast was light and grilled to the right texture. Wifey loved her meal and said the chicken apple sausage was a good choice. Julius was working inside and outside the tables, but he did check on us a few times. He disappeared for a few minutes when we were ready to wrap up the bill but I didn't have to track him down. Genuinely this restaurant has the worst service ever. After getting ignored and not seated for ridiculously long, we we're ushered into a seat. Our server didnt come for 15 minutes and the tables next to us never had a server come. It was so bad they got up and left! It was an entire family, how upsetting must it be to get your whole family out of the house and be treated that poorly. After some serious deliberation, I landed on the Morning Meditation drink, the Chicken Pesto Quinoa Power Bowl, and just one Carrot Cake & Pecan pancake (which turned out to be massive). Never again! We have been to this location many times, today was terrible. We don't go for the service because it sucks, we go for the quality of the food. My husband ordered kale tonic juice, which he's had and enjoyed both here and another location a few times. He also ordered the Tri-fecta, which comes with two eggs any style, a waffle or pancake, and your choice of meat. He chose scrambled eggs, the Belgian waffle, and chicken sausage plus a side of grits. He said the sausage was too sweet and tasted differently than at other locations. The grits weren't seasoned at all. He said they tasted like "buttered water" lol, and the texture was off. But the eggs and waffle were good. I ordered the Bacado omelet, which comes with bacon, avocado, Monterey Jack cheese, sour cream, and pico de gallo. The avocado was pretty brown and there was waaaaay too much chopped bacon! I had to move the avocado aside, and I spent so much time removing bacon from the omelet that I didn't even think to take a picture of the pile I left on the side of my plate. I removed literally the equivalent of at least four slices of medium sized bacon strips and still had a decent amount inside. And I never received the pico de gallo that was supposed to come with the omelet. We both had somewhere to be afterward, and the server was pleasant, so we didn't make a fuss over it all. My friend signed onto the waitlist asking the hostess for a table for two noting that I was in a wheelchair. A few minutes after we were escorted to our table and I transferred into the bench seat and began reviewing a menu we were approached by the same hostess who asked us to move the wheelchair that was placed parallel to our table stating that it was a fire hazard. The table was located in the middle of the restaurant very close to the waitstaff entrance and exit to and from the kitchen. I fortunately have some ability to walk with assistance so I moved the chair into the cramped waiting area near the door and my friend assisted me back to the table. I absolutely understand a concern for patrons being able to exit a building during an emergency...fire or otherwise...but I have never been asked to remove my wheelchair to a distant location from my seat and wondered two things: why were we escorted to an unsuitable table for a wheelchair user and what would happen to my ability to exit the restaurant quickly and efficiently in event of an emergency. Though I have limited capability for walking, I would have never been able to move quickly enough to reach my chair and would potentially be essentially a human hazard. Perhaps a rethink of the organization of tables to accommodate mobility challenged patrons might be in order and in a way that considers everyone's safety. The food was good. I would eat here again. I would just prefer not to be treated as a potential hazard and separated from my vitally important assistive device. read more

I stopped by First Watch in Decatur this past Saturday for my mandatory weekend brunch fix. Hurricane Helene had just blown through the night before, but the skies were only cloudy, and the weather was finally cool. Naturally, I got way too excited about this rare Georgia weather event and decided to brave the patio. Who needs sunshine, right? It was packed inside, so I was pleased when my server appeared quickly to take my order and drop off my Arnold Palmer (which was chilling with more ice than I expected, but no complaints!). As I waited for my lemon ricotta pancakes, I tried to look unfazed by the occasional gusts of wind doing their best to turn my brunch into a kite-flying competition. But I wasn't going to be run off. I was in it for the long haul... or so I thought. That's when I noticed the couple next to me abruptly stand up, plates in hand, clearly having been overrun by a familiar foe--the bee. Yes, the same relentless bee and I have tangled before. It's basically the neighborhood's uninvited brunch guest at this point. They waved the white flag, packed up, and left me as the last patio holdout. I felt like I'd won something. And then--victory! My pancakes arrived, and let me tell you, they were worth every wind-swept napkin. Fluffy, lemony, and huge--so big that I had to admit defeat halfway through (before the bee could make its move). I boxed up the rest, paid my respects to the bacon and grits (solid as always), and wrapped up before that bee got any ideas. In short, the food? 10/10. The patio? This place had a lot of good reviews so I decided to check it out. It was extremely busy over the weekend and we ended up having to wait an hour to get seated. I honestly just did not think the food was good enough for that long of a wait. I just had a waffle but honestly, I really didn't like it. The waffle itself was bitter but so was the compote that came with it and the maple syrup also wasn't very sweet. I feel like there are so many other good brunch/breakfast options around and after waiting so long to eat, the food wasn't satisfying and didn't make the wait worth it. We also got a Purple Haze and Tropical Sunrise to drink and the Purple Haze was good although it could have used some more lemon. The Tropical Sunrise wasn't my favorite and every sip tasted different even after stirring it which meant that flavor wasn't consistent and I didn't taste any strawberry or lime. Also, while we were waiting for a table, we told the hostess that we would take the first available table and she told us we would be seated next but then continued to seat other people because she thought we wanted to sit outside. This isn't a big issue but it was a little frustrating to be told you would be seated next and then have the host ignore what you said about sitting wherever. Luckily we got her attention quickly enough to be seated soon after but still just not a great experience. The actual server was good but the service wasn't anything to rave about. All in all, I wouldn't go here again, the food just wasn't that impressive and not worth the wait, in my opinion. I had never been to a First Watch before. I fact, I had never even heard of it out west in Cali, but I was blown away by the quality of the food. We got on the waitlist using Yelp I believe on a Sunday morning for a party of four a bit past 9:00 AM and were given a wait time of about twenty to thirty minutes. This location has plenty of parking and the restaurant ambience is the perfect balance of classy and casual. BLT Benedict (5/5): I am a sucker for a good eggs benedict and the one here is stellar. All the vegetables were wonderfully fresh and the bacon was perfectly cooked riding the line between crunchy and chewy. Above all, their hollandaise was incredible; it was super tangy and they added lemon you could taste. Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (4.25/5): Super fluffy pancakes with lemon curd and fresh strawberries just cannot go wrong. My only complaint is I wish there was more of that amazing, tart lemon curd as my last couple bites ended up being. tad bland. read more
