Nasty customer service today from the mean girls working at the front desk.. on mother's day of all days . I come to this location frequently but never again . The restaurant is not even packed and they said they weren't taking any walk ins at 2:00. I made a reservation and I showed up and they had an attitude about sitting my party of 3 down. Their food is always banging!! I had the pesto bowl and it was delicious. Most FW locations tend to have watery quinoa but here, it was drained pretty decently. The chicken was cooked perfectly and they give you a portion big enough to share. I asked for extra sauce and they placed it in the container with no lid so it spilled everywhere. That sort of annoyed me but all is fair. I ordered it to go which was probably best for me. Had I known it now smells like dirty carpet (old mop water/stale) and wet dog, I may not have ordered at all. The cook burned the seasoned potatoes with onions to a burned crisp to the point they were crunchy and still decided to give it to me. I visited this location for the first time with a few co-workers. Even though the restaurant felt a bit cramped, I liked the décor and oversized chairs. Waiter was not rude, but not overly friendly. I ordered the Parma Hash with over medium eggs. The dish arrived and looked yummy, not so! One egg was so overcooked that there was no yolk. The potatoes and onions had a penny-like, metallic taste, and there was NO Parmesan (as shown in the photo with shredded pieces), but soft chunks of some gross tasting cheese! This place has been sending me emails for awhile now. Was up early and decided to get breakfast. I went to a popular breakfast spot and they told me 45 mins! Nope! Remembered this place wasn't far and headed there. There were ppl all outside waiting. Overheard you could make reservations on their site and did that. I highly recommend doing that on the weekend! I went and told the lady I had a reservation and she told me it would be a 45 min wait, but to wait until she cleared up her system. She kept her word and sat me in less than 10 mins! I have been to this place twice and I have nothing but great things to say. They are usually quite busy so I would suggest going early to avoid a long wait, but they are pretty efficient and things move pretty quickly there. The food is very consistent. We have enjoyed breakfast and brunch at First Watch locations across Georgia and Florida for years. This Decatur location is the first time we have been deeply disappointed. Our server seemed to not be able to look us in the eye. She never smiled, which seemed to be a theme here. We started watching the others and caught one and only one person who could muster a smile for their patrons. It was to the point of being rude. We could overlook that because we were here for the food, not emotions. However the food here was a major disappointment. The avocado toast was bland and flavorless - they left out the ingredients promised on the menu. And it was ice cold. Served in warm toast - unappetizing. You know it's a bad day when an upscale brunch place can't serve a decent omelet. It was just terrible. Burnt bacon and a decidedly "ungenerous" portion of toppings were scattered across a hard fried egg and folded together. On the plus side the person at the cash register asked how we enjoyed the food. When I told her of our disappointment she immediately comped the meal and gave us gift cards for another visit. Farmstand tacos, Avocado Toast, and Farmhouse Hash (with dressed greens instead of fruit) are my go to's with a kale tonic or morning meditation. Other notables: chicken avocado chop salad and the monterey club are great choices too. No go: the grits just aren't good at any location I've gone too in regards to flavor but also in consistency. Recommendation: 2 FOR YOU DEAL. You get to choose between select sandwiches, salads, ​and soups. The portion is VERY generous for only $7.79!! Service: Great. Our server was very patient with us and accommodating​. He was quick and always around making sure everything was okay. I love how swift they are with service. I went inside to put my party on the waitlist and the host said it would be a 30 minute wait and that's EXACTLY what it was! The waitress was friendly, helpful, and quick as well. I love that they bring out a jug of coffee so you can refill it at the table. I also love the glass jar of water that you can refill as well. I got the Chickichanga and my mom got a The Works omelet and they both were so tasty and we always love their potatoes as well. They are seasoned so nicely. The atmosphere and look of the place is nice as well. It's bustling with people but not too overwhelming. I love the sizing of the tables. Anyway, due to a change in circumstances I have been here twice in the last two weeks. Today my Farmhouse skillet was excellent as was the service. Last week my scrambled eggs, seemed as if they had started out as a fried egg and then scrambled at the last minute. Not normal for here and I was disappointed. I usually don't send food back. However the reason for only 3 stars today is due to cleanliness. It's Monday morning at 7:30 am. Don't think the floors were cleaned over the weekend and what is this on the floor? Once seated we were promptly greeted by our server and asked our drink orders. My friend chose their seasonal drink cranberry crush which she enjoyed. For breakfast i chose the tacos the chicken was seasoned well and had a hint of spice to it they also come with a side of black beans (they weren't really seasoned) but garnished with pico and added to my tacos was a good combination. I also had one lemon ricotta pancake which was absolutely delicious and as big as the plate. My friend had the waffle breakfast with eggs and turkey sausage while was also good but a little light on the egg portion. I like First Watch okay. It's good, but not great. While it's not among my favorite breakfast places in metro Atlanta, it's certainly not bad either. The food is decent and you probably won't be disappointed. This is a Florida-based restaurant chain with over 200 locations nationwide. At the time of writing this review, there are nine locations in the Atlanta area. I've eaten at four: Vinings, Chamblee, Dunwoody, and now this one in Decatur. This location is relatively new. It opened in April 2017 in the same shopping center as Sprouts Farmers Market in North Decatur. All of the First Watch locations I've been to have been fairly popular. Sometimes, there's a wait. We showed up to this one around 9:15am on a rainy Saturday and were seated immediately. Around 10:15am, a line had built up. This location isn't as spacious as the Chamblee and Dunwoody locations, but it's still plenty big. The newer locations like this one and the Chamblee location (opened January 2018) look nicer and more up-to-date than the older locations like Vinings (at least compared to the last time I went there). The newer locations have a modern, Southern, farmstead feel to them. Open kitchens too. The restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch. It's open daily, 7am-2:30pm. No dinner service (except for special events). The menu was dense with lots of small text. It was like reading a book. I appreciate detailed descriptions of each menu item, but they could stand to simplify and streamline the menu a bit. First Watch serves classic and traditional American breakfast food like steel-cut oatmeal ($7.99), multigrain pancakes (1 for $4.99, 2 for $6.99), and Eggs Benedict ($10.99) as well as more contemporary dishes such as farm stand breakfast tacos ($10.29) and a pesto chicken quinoa bowl ($9.99). Lunch items include soups, salads, and sandwiches. Most entrees, breakfast and lunch, are priced right around $10-12 each. They also have coffee, of course, and some yummy fresh juices (I've had the juices at other locations, but not at this one). Here's what I tried at this location: * Million Dollar Bacon ($4.99) - 4 slices of hardwood-smoked bacon baked with brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne, and maple syrup * Avocado Toast ($9.99) - thick-cut whole grain toast topped with avocado, EVOO, lemon, and Maldon sea salt; served with 2 cage-free basted eggs * French Toast ($8.99) - custard-dipped thick-cut brioche bread topped with whipped butter and powdered cinnamon sugar * Frittata Rustica ($10.29) - Italian-style omelet with kale, roasted cremini mushrooms, onions and tomatoes topped with mozzarella, Parmesan; served with ciabatta toast * Biscuits & Gravy ($4.99) * Carbonara Benedict ($11.99) - 2 poached cage-free eggs atop Parmesan-crusted ciabatta with thick-cut braised bacon, arugula, Parmesan cream, black pepper and chives; served with lemon-dressed organic mixed greens * Project Sunrise Coffee ($2.89 per person) Generally, I thought the food was good. Nothing knocked my socks off, but I liked the dishes enough to recommend all of them (all that are listed above). If you like bacon, First Watch's Million Dollar Bacon is pretty much a must-order. It's terrific. I've had First Watch's avocado toast a few times and I'm not a big fan of it because of the bread. The bread is soft and flavorless to me. Not very appetizing. However, all of the other ingredients are great and they give you lots of yummy avocado (I love avocado). The French toast was simple and satisfying. Nothing out of the ordinary. It came with some sort of berry compote (I believe) which wasn't listed on the menu. The Frittata Rustica was tasty, but not very filling. The ciabatta toast, which was buttered, helped. This dish also came with a small side salad (mixed greens) which again wasn't listed on the menu. The biscuits & gravy were listed under the sides and small plates section. Not bad, and at $4.99, reasonably priced. I love biscuits & gravy and these were gratifying enough. The gravy was rich and flavorful, the biscuits were par for the course. The Carbonara Benedict was a seasonal special. The eggs were delicious, both in this Benedict and with the avocado toast above (served on the side). First Watch uses high-quality eggs and they know how to cook them just right. The Parmesan cream was a fine addition, but I was hoping it would be more memorable. If you like Eggs Benedict and this one is on the menu during your visit, I think it's worth ordering. The house-brand Project Sunrise coffee was okay. Our server Rose did a nice job. She was friendly and professional. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center. (This shopping center used to be a quiet residential neighborhood, but all the houses and trees were razed just a few years ago to make way for this and other developments.) read more

This was my first time at a First Watch location. It was a Saturday morning; the wait for seating was about 30 mins and we'd joined the waitlist on Yelp. I ordered the Trifecta breakfast with a waffle. I didn't care for the jam that came with it, but the syrup was good. I didn't ask whether it was real maple, but it went well with the waffle. The waffle texture was a bit soft for my preference, not enough crisp outside, but the flavor was spot on. I'd go back and try some more things from the menu. We chose one of their limited time special sandwiches, a kids grilled cheese and a classic eggs Benedict. Food arrived in a timely manner but unfortunately we had some trouble... Somehow we received a completely different meal in place of the special sandwich and the eggs on the Benedict were cooked through, rather than being runny. After trying to go to First Watch a few Sundays ago with no reservation, I quickly learned that that wasn't a good idea and I wasn't gonna let that stop me this time. The best idea for Sundays is to go online and reserve a seat. It doesn't matter when you go, just as long as you plan on going that day. Once we got there, there was still quite a bit of wait but the wait with a reservation versus the wait without a reservation is like night and day so we didn't wait no longer than 7-10 mins maybe. This was a date outing but they have room for group outing as well and they have an outside patio that's available when the weather permits. I pretty much knew what I wanted before getting there so when the waiter came, there was no time wasted. I ordered the The Traditional ($11.59). It comes with two fresh cage-free eggs any style that I substituted with cheese grits. Your choice of bacon, smoked ham, savory chicken sausage patties, turkey or pork sausage links. In this case I went with the sausage patties (2). It's also served with whole grain artisan toast that I also substituted with a blueberry pancake and fresh, seasoned potatoes. To drink I went with a Cranberry juice ($3.79). When the food arrived, I promise you the talking ceased. Everything about the Traditional Remix was amazing. The pancake is huge so be careful when ordering more than one. Not only are the blueberries in the pancake fresh and good in taste, but they give you a small side of blueberries as well. The cheese grits are thick and cheesy as well. Not too watery and not too thick either. They are also flavorful and not bland which is a good thing when it comes to grits for me. The sausage patties are nice in size and they are also flavorful as well. However even tho I ate the potatoes, they were the only thing that wasn't hot on my plate. Also I prefer my potatoes to be a bit more cooked and crunchy and these were more on the soft side. Nonetheless, that didn't stop me from devouring my entire meal nor will that stop me from going back and trying more food. Last but not least, the juice was amazing. No ice but it wasn't needed and you can tell it's a good fresh juice and doesn't have a ton of sugar involved. Overall, First watch is a great place for breakfast and brunch. Busy working mom post: I live near by and work in Midtown. What was supposed to be a quick oil change down the road turned into a lot more. Jai was my server and she also greeted me when I walked in from the cold. When I asked if she minded if I did some work while I ate, she said "Would you like some hot coffee?" And smiled. She knew that is what I needed. Before I give you a review on my food, I want to tell you how awesome Jai continued to be. After about 45 minutes of me eating and working , I let her know that I completely understand if she needed me to give up my table. She responded with "would you like to move to a table so you can plug in your computer so it doesn't die? Would you like more hot coffee?" Jai, I love you! I sat where I was for a total of 1.5 hours enjoying my breakfast, getting my work done, enjoying the people around me, and drinking some amazing hot coffee! Now my food. When you walk in and wait to be seated there is a designated host or hostess. Once you're done and you have to pay up at the register and there is a designated checkout person. Apparently, you can book the waiting list via an app, but I didn't know that until I arrived. Call them to get the app information and save yourself some time. The menu options are plentiful and comes with several healthy options. My waitress was very pleasant and my orders were delivered in no time at all. One of the best appetizer on their menu is the Million Dollar Bacon which comes with four slices of hardwood smoked bacon with brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne and a maple syrup drizzle. I got the Elevated Egg Sandwich, and it was amazing and my eggs were even prepared the way I like them, which is a rarity. I have also had their avocado toast, which is pretty good and was chock full of avocado and extra flavorful too. The coffee was hot and wonderful as well. Big parking lot. We enjoyed an absolutely delicious breakfast at First Watch today! First, the menu has so much variety that it is practically impossible to choose! The seasonal specials included an Açaí Bowl. The Açaí bowl was so good and full of fresh, flavorful fruit. The toast with almond butter was filling and very tasty. It was the perfect pairing with the Açaí Bowl. My sister had the Florentine Eggs Benedict, and said it was light, and delicious. She chose fruit for her side and was very pleased with the meal. The only disappointment was the iced coffee. It was absolutely delicious, but too sweet and rich for me. I imagine it's a big hit though! All was excellent until a group with screaming children sat by us.
