First time at First Watch. Took my boys for a breakfast and we were all pleased! My coffee was served with a whole pot left at the table. Yay! Boys had OJ and they said it was fresh. Many choices on the menu is what I like! If this wasn't my sober month, I would've had some cocktails. All looked so good. My older son had French toasts, eggs and bacon. My younger son had French toasts. I had egg white omelet, potatoes and wheat bread toasts. My plate was so filling, I brought it back with us and ate for lunch. $13 for a breakfast and lunch. Pretty good price for sure. Our food was flavorful and loved the presentation. My boys and I do not like food touching each other on a plate and they were separated!! We didn't even ask for that. Foods great customer service is usually "okay" normally. Not my situation, ordered $50 worth of food, drive to pick it up. Get home, and I'm missing my $13 waffle I ordered. I call, phone rings 10 times and disconnects me. I call and do this repeatedly a few times then give up trying to get a home of someone. Finally I get someone ask for a manager they say they are busy which I'm sure they are, she did make me feel heard at first and said she would tell the manager to refund that whole part of the meal and said it would take a couple business days to reflect that refund. Days go by and the charge clears... nothing changed.. I call so many times that at that point it should be a compensation just trying to get a hold of someone throughout the day and no one picks up the phone. It's still been a process just to call and get someone so I have to take time out of my day not to call them but to show up and demean my $13 refund and give my story from a possible minor mistake event that happened days before. I reserved my place in line on the app before I got there this morning. Once I got there, I had a seat within 5 minutes after arriving. After I had got seated, I was waiting 15 minutes and still, nobody took my order, checked on me, let alone gave me a glass of water. I got fed up because this is the second time this has happened to me. I got up and left which is sad because this is the closest location to my house. I put my name on the list for the location in Newport News since I had great service from last time. I called the restaurant in Hampton to let them know about the issue and the host did not sound apologetic at all. I arrived at the Newport News location and was greeted by the general manager who welcomed me with a great big smile and I vented to her about the Hampton location and she felt terrible. She made sure I was taken care of as well as her staff. The Newport News one is a lot better versus Hampton. I will not be returning to that one again. It was fast. Unfortunately we noticed items missing when we initially checked our orders. The missing items were quickly brought out to us when we brought it to the restaurant's attention. I completed a workout after picking up the to go order and didn't eat until after. My food was still Luke warm. The tortillas were fresh and the perfect consistency. The avocado was creamy, eggs fluffy and the perfect amount of cheese. The potatoes were a perfect hash with onions, crisp on the outsides and tender on the insides. The black beans were flavorful. Dine-In Experience I walked in and was greeted by a masked waitress. I was seated and asked if I wanted Coffee and offered a pitcher of water. My order was taken quickly and when I asked about modifications, my waitress was knowledgeable about the differences between different menu items. My food came out quickly and everything was fresh. Hacienda Hash Delicious combination of flavors. Crisp yet tender potatoes combined with flavorful chorizo and spicy ketchup. Two scrambled eggs, a bit of sour cream and Fresh whipped avocado on top. First m, I typically love First Watch and will absolutely go to others in the future. This one just completely missed the mark. Wait was double what was told. Sat people ahead of us. Put multiple pairs at large tables when two tops were available. When we finally did get sat then it took a good bit of time to get a waiter so by the time we got one we were ready to order fully. Drinks and food were ordered at the same time but half the food came out first, none of it complete. Some time passed then half the drinks one of which had to be sent back because there was clearly lipstick on it so much so it was obvious that it hadn't been washed at all. More time passed then a few more drinks came. More time... the rest of the food. More time and finally the last two drinks. I had originally written as a 1 star but to the back of house's credit the food was much closer to the standard First Watch normally sets. Hopefully my experience was the exception. read more

Came in shortly after early church service. We were told it would be a 30 min wait, but was surprised we were seated in 10 mins. While you wait they do have complimentary coffee and cucumber water which is a nice touch. Once we sat down, we were immediately greeted by our server and our drinks were taken and delivered pretty quickly. We ordered their seasonal mixed berry toast to share as starters and placed all of our entrees at the same time. I had to make note that I was allergic to raspberries and wanted to be sure that raspberries weren't part of the berry mix and what was listed (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries) was the only thing that could touch the plate. They did a fantastic job noting on the order and I had a pretty allergy tag to designate that dish. All of our food was flavorful, fresh and delicious. The mixed berry toast had fresh berries on top with lemon ricotta drizzle. The lemon wasn't overwhelming and complemented the fresh fruit. The description said it was on a thick cut of brioche - the bread was dry and did not taste like brioche at all, more like toast. The kids food were well portioned and a great balance of carbs, protein and fruit. I did wish the portion of fruit for the waffle was comparable to the egg and bacon meal. I got the truffle wild mushroom frittata special. The frittata was flavorful- the hint of truffle balanced the entire dish. Fruit was fresh and the bread was average. Service - it took incredibly long to serve up our food. We waited for a good 30 mins before the mixed berry toast came to the table, the entrees came about 10 mins later. The waitstaff has NO concept of teamwork. When we got our shareable, we did not get app plates. We asked for them, but it was passed to the server, who didn't bring them for several minutes, meanwhile the server/food runner I asked was refilling beverages at another table - running into the kitchen a few times. Our server was also pretty absent during our service once our orders were placed- checked in only once after our entrees were delivered and to deliver the check. read more

I came here for brunch today and was pleasantly surprised. This place is super cute with fresh food and great customer service. Our server was new but knew all of her stuff and really took good care of us. I ordered French toast with scrambled eggs and potatoes. Presentation was everything and made me take this bomb photo! We had to grab a different server to get two straws. Then we ordered our food And it partially came and the most important one was missing, which was for the grandson we asked about it and then a partial plate was dropped off with no eggs. My grandson decided to steal my wife's pancake because he was hungry and then we received our eggs at least 1015 minutes after we asked the second time we also had to ask for syrup for the pancake more than once The server did not come back and ask if this was a individual check or split check just gave us the receipt and the receipt that she provided us did not have a QR code on the bottom as well to check out electronically. I went to the cash register and was not asked if everything was OK. They just processed everything and that was it. Food may taste like you're eating in mom's kitchen but they have the modern touch with an online waitlist/text message system. When you enter you can check in with the host and you will receive a text when it is time be seated or you can join the waitlist through yelp prior to arrival. John was our server he was knowledgeable of the menu, his suggestions, and fan favorites. He checked in on us at appropriate intervals with food or an update on the delay. The menu was not only variegated; there was something for everyone. Simple, healthy and hearty, with the flavors too match. If this was based on the wait, it would definitely get 3 stars, but because it's all about the food, I give it a straight up 5. If the food wasn't so worth it, then I'd be more annoyed about the wait. Through the Yelp app, my bestie and I were able to join the Wait List. The only thing that sucks is that you have 15min to check in. I prefer this Hampton location over Newport News, so it took me a little over 15min to get there. Needless to say I had to cancel my wait list spot and then redo it again. While you wait, there is lemon water and coffee to sip on while you wait as well as a few benches to sit on. We ended up waiting about 30min to get seated, but once we were seated our waitress was very attentive, and filled our cups with coffee and water right away. For a drink, I went with water and a Kale Tonic. Tastes super fresh and clean. For food, I went with the Million Dollar Bacon to share with the table and the BLT Eggs Benedict. We went to brunch after church around 12:30. We used The wait in line feature. We were quoted 45/60 mins we arrived around the 45 min mark and checked in. We only waited an additional 24 mins, 4 mins after quote time but no biggie, it was only 4 minutes. We asked for a patio table since it was such a beautiful day. We got lucky and got a table on the patio. What a gorgeous day for an outside brunch. The place was pretty busy, as you'd expect for a Sunday crowd. We looked over the menu and we were pleasantly surprised to see they offer alcohol beverages! YAY! My husband got the million dollar Bloody Mary with bacon. He said it was delicious I got the honey caramel crunch iced coffee. It was sooo good! We ordered the avocado toast as an appetizer to share. The drinks came out pretty quickly and were delivered by a different server, nice teamwork. 5 minutes later all the food arrived all together. We asked for the avocado toast to come out first but no biggie. The food was brought by a different server, who let us know we were a pancake shirt and it would be out soon. When the missing pancake arrived she asked if we needed anything, I asked for napkins and syrup. She brought those out pretty quickly, thanks. We also ordered blueberry pancakes for me and the lemon ricotta pancakes for my husband and a side of bacon. It was all very very good! Couldn't have been better. Halfway through we ran out of water, coffee and the Bloody Mary. We were hoping to see our server, Jenn, nope no Jenn. Oh well. I waited for two visits to really make up my mind on First Watch... It's official, I absolutely enjoyed both experiences and can't wait for more! Since I moved here about 5 months ago, I've been looking for a satisfying breakfast spot and First Watch came at the perfect time. The menu can be very daunting, but your server is more than willing to provide suggestions. On my first visit I had the breakfast chickachangas with breakfast potatoes and a side of bacon; I can see why it is a house favorite. This Mexican inspired dish solidified that I had to visit again. The combination of quaint decor, friendly service, and outstanding food truly impressed me. This style of eatery actually reminds me of a lot of my favorite breakfast spots in San Diego. Came in around 815 on a Saturday. There was no wait and we were seated quickly. It took about 15 minutes for us to get a server to come to the table to even give us water even though they weren't very busy. The two nearest tables that got seated after us had service right away. While waiting for our food we noticed that there were 3 tables that had to have food sent back for being undercooked or incorrect. Not a good sign. After about 25 minutes my wife's food showed up. It took another 10 minutes for my food to show up. It looked fine until I cut into the frittata and found it to be completely raw inside. The server came over and asked if everything was ok and I showed her my food. She agreed that it was not acceptable. I told her to just take it off of my bill and she came back and let us know that we wouldn't have to pay for my wife's food either. I'm not much a breakfast foods fan, but I love lemon flavors, so I couldn't resist. The pancake serving was huge! I could only finish 1/3 of it and took the rest home. It was definitely tasty and fluffy and satisfying. To me it was like a cake dessert treat. Sugar high! I'm still not a breakfast foods fan, so for next time I'll get a salad. We were super hungry. I appreciate we arrived right before closing so they were busy, but after ordering, we were left to it and forgotten in the sea of people eating in the restaurant which was a bit annoying. Alas - the pancakes were worth waiting for. On an impromptu trip to Hampton, my sisters and I decided on breakfast at First Watch. The First Watch app allows you to put your name "in line" to avoid the wait. I ate the Tri-Athlete, which is an egg white omelette, whole grain toast with fruit preserves and a bowl a fruit. The Elote Mexican Street Corn Hash and the Healthy Turkey meals were eaten by my sisters. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. The grits are wonderful - made with butter salt and pepper. This is not the place for you if you are looking for plain grits. I would have taken more pics but we inhaled our food. The service was average. My mother and I always eat First watch and on an almost weekly basis. Mom hasn't been too fond of the First Watch located in PTC due to the floors were not swept after each customer leaves by the server or busser (when one is working). Yesterday we stopped in after several appointments and errands. There was no wait and I asked for booth seating. The hostess advised all booths weee taken except a large party booth that was being cleaned in the front of the restaurant. She never bother to ask if we wanted a full booth or half like many other hostesses have. She didn't even look around the corner to see if a another booth was available or just needed to be bussed. Another couple came in (two people) and the waiter did what she didn't do and seated them to a half booth. I looked to see if a booth opened up as they were being seated and was astonished and upset that the table was available. She didn't even check! Just told me from the cashier and hostess desk that no other booths were available. As a former FOH general manager and someone who needs a cushioned seat due to my nerve, muscle condition, and disability, and as a patron; it would be important to be as hospitable and attentive as possible on what's going on in the restaurant and customers. Last week my mother asked for light ice in her Kale tonic and was heard by the server. This week, we get pushback on quantity amount and we can bring the ice in another glass with the tonic. Mind you my mother has long since retired from the food service industry as well and 86'd her drink. If franchises can't be consistent, attentive, and helpful then it won't be an issue to keep going back to the Tech Center location. We loved our server and this has no reflection on her performance as we over tipped her. I'll be looking for our last server from the week before and yesterday from now on. We normally make our own breakfast and rarely venture out to any breakfast restaurants. I stumbled upon this First Watch which is conveniently located after the tunnel from Virginia Beach vacay house back to DC. My friends and I escaped the crowd and traffic, only to find more crowd at the restaurant. Even though I called ahead to reserve a table for ten, we had to wait 30-40 minutes for our table. It is well worth it for the foods and services despite the number of patrons. Our ten orders are correct and perfectly executed. I admire the efficiency of our waiter and the whole team from receptionists who were being pressured by me to get a table to the busboys, chefs, and waiter. Great teamwork! I love love love my Million Dollar bacon with waffle, sunrise meditation juice, and many more. I am surprised it is a restaurant chain. This was our first time going to First Watch restaurant. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleased. There were five people in our party. It was my dad's birthday. We came before the rush; we did wait about 25 minutes to be seated. I was very impressed with large print menu that was provided. One of the staff overheard my dad say that he needed his glasses to read the menu. He went out to the car to get his glasses and upon his return he was approached by a staff person who said I heard you say you it was hard to read the menu. She handed over a large print booklet and we also noticed that there was Braille in the back of the book. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and boast farm fresh food. The menu is unique as they offer varieties and combinations of food pairings. I had the morning mediation and ham gruyere omelette with seasoned potatoes. Everyone with was pleased with their food however there was a bit of a wait...so be prepared to wait depending on what time you go dine. read more
