Came here on a rainy Tuesday morning. Was surprised to see the place near half capacity. First Watch is known for their breakfast but they also serve lunch. Basically one side of the menu is breakfast while the other side focuses on lunch and drinks. I tried something that was new on the menu which was the strawberry tres leches french toast. I had been disappointed by other places on their rendition of this dish but not here. The leches part wasn't that obvious especially with the scant amount of evaporated or whole milk but that's okay. I wasn't too keen on having soggy french toast and was content to let the strawberries shine. My coffee was slightly burned but otherwise good. The service was slow but reflected the lazy rainy morning. I wasn't in a hurry and didn't mind. read more

First watch never disappoints. The service was quick, and the servers are always super helpful! My daughter got the French toast kids meal. The French toast was sooo good! They serve it on challah bread, so it's fluffy. Plus the syrup is warm as well. I tried a seasonal item, which was the steak chimmichuri bowl. It was just ok.. I probably wouldn't get it again. However, I LOVED the pickled peppers on the top. Those were so delicious. And of course, I had to finish my meal off with the morning meditation. I love me some first watch!!! This location was good. I like that they have. Lot of space and that it wasn't too long of a wait. The hostess was nice and the waiter was a lot nicer. The only issue is that they have the SMALLEST TABLES!!! And for someone who wants to try new things, order a water, coffee, and juice, you can't. They are really biting the bullet and negating people who want to spend a lot here when they put them at the extra small 2person tables. Sadly I don't get to try anything new because of that. Visited First Watch with a friend and before we arrived, we did add ourselves to the waitlist. At the time, they weren't too busy, so the waitlist was unnecessary, but it did pick up after we came in so be sure to check on that if you're planning on going. I do have to say, the decoration of this place is a little funny. It has a nice vibe to it, but we couldn't help but giggle at the doors on the ceiling and the watering cans on the wall shelves. Our waiter was really friendly! I had the hot chocolate, which - you can't really go wrong with that. I then had the eggs benedict with a side of home fries. It was okay - nothing to really write home about but I wasn't mad at it either. I called the restaurant and was told that they have no control over it. That I had to get in touch with the tow company to get this addressed. It was a complete hassle. Today my friend and I walked in at 7:00am and could hardly hold a conversation as the music was so loud. No requested that it be turned down and my sever told me they had complaints but were not allowed to adjust the volume per the REGIONAL MANAGER. There are 4 people here in the restaurant and someone not here is controlling the volume of the music. We don't need music blasting at 7:00am. I honestly did not even know this restaurant was at Maryland. My friend and I were looking for a place to have breakfast at and I love first watch. There was plenty of parking. We were seated faster than I expected. They offered us to sit at this like bar area when we were about to be seated, someone informed the waitress that that space was reserved for a large party that was coming in. The waitress was able to find another space for us to sit down. The restaurant was very busy. It was around 11 AM. As always, the food was delicious. Their coffee is so good. I had to stop myself at 2 cups. This is the first time I try their carrot pancake and it did not disappoint. Went out to brunch with a friend on a Friday at around 11 pm. This place is tucked in the center across HEB in Meyerland. There is parking around the building but can be filled fast. The place is decorated nicely and it was bustling with at least half the tables full at all times while we were there. We waited a bit before being seated and waited some more after being lead to our table. No offer to get high chairs for us - we have 2 kids aged 2 and 6 with us. We ended up getting them ourselves. The table itself was super tacky/sticky. There were two coffee cups on the table already and those needed extra strength to unstick them from the center of the table and set off to the side. So I chose this place because their website has ingredients and allergens listed out to the point that I was impressed. My friend is the only omnivore with no dietary restrictions. The rest of us are allium-free vegetarians and the youngest has a host of food allergies - wheat, eggs, avocado, peanuts, tree nuts, kiwi, and pineapple. I thoroughly studied the website so I had an idea of what to do and once I mentioned food allergies, our waitress double checked on them to make sure there would be no issues, so kudos to that. We ordered: FLORENTINE EGGS BENEDICT (no herb topping as that contains alliums): this was delicious. The eggs are on ciabatta which, though not traditional, worked. One egg was runny whereas the other was almost done, but I didn't mind too much. Also included avocado and sliced tomato. The hollandaise was perfect. I got the included salad and it was refreshing. The dish was a perfect portion and I really enjoyed it! You can request for seasoned potatoes instead of the salad, but those contain alliums. MORNING MEDITATION JUICE: this was beautiful! It comes out with a red top and orange bottom, made out of orange, lemon, turmeric, ginger, agave, and beets. Despite all that, it really works and tastes quite good. Even my youngest enjoyed it! I had to request for a kids cup to pour some of my drink into it for him. CHEESY GRITS: this is a side item and I got it for my youngest with the food allergies. He ate it and enjoyed it. He didn't finish it but I didn't expect that. I'm just glad he had something he could eat. Basically, it's grits topped with broiled melted cheese. Chocolate Chip Pancake (kids menu): this is a single, HUGE pancake topped with butter and syrup on the side that also comes with a side of meat of your choice. We had that separate so my friend could have it. My kid liked it and ate a third of it, which is quite impressive for her. My friend got the BLT Eggs Benedict with a side of seasoned potatoes (she really liked hers but was sad none of her eggs were runny) and Purple Haze (a lavender lemonade that is really delicious and pretty, with the help of butterfly pea tea). Despite the slow service, which is somewhat understandable since she was busy, and sticky tables, the food did come out in a reasonable amount of time and we all thought everything was good. I am glad there's a place that is so transparent about their food and that we can have something substantial at. A win! I will definitely keep this on my radar next time we want breakfast/brunch nearby. They also have gluten free toast that you can sub in at no extra cost, which is a nice touch. First watch has been a go to for breakfast for my family. There has never been a more than 5 minute wait when my family and I went and it's a nice welcoming atmosphere. My mom and I went the other day I got the Pastrami New York Breakfast Sandwich and Wedding Soup which were sooo good I left not a crumb on the plate. I have been to this location a few times for dine in and carry out. The service has always been great. On my most recent visit, Christmas Eve, I was impressed with the service since that is a busy time. The food here is always great, the ingredients are fresh and always hot. I ordered the parm hash this time around. My niece ordered the Chickichanga and couldn't stop raving about it. I will say, this is not one of the breakfast spots that you will leave with leftovers. The portions aren't small but they aren't heavy and plentiful. It's just enough. They also don't have different side options besides toast. I've eaten at other first watches before and knew the food would be good. Our waitress Gina was excellent. She was super sweet, personable and super attentive. She came by the table often to see how we were doing. The tacos were a good size and you get to choose your accompanying side. The only thing that it was missing is a good red or green salsa. They only had Pico or hot sauce. The Banana Granola Crunch pancake was big, fluffy and delicious! I love that they use fresh sliced bananas. I enjoyed their chicken apple sausage. Ordered a hash bowl, came out lukewarm to cold, melted cheese had restabilized, bacon underdone, avocado not ripe. Butter wouldn't melt on 'toast.' I was confused that the aesthetic of the menu & room wasn't matched with same quality. Server was accommodating & friendly, but wasn't a 20-25%. I have to wonder if maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but at the same time, I think what I ordered is a specialty item. Based on the pictures and the previous reviews, I think I was just expecting more. Unfortunately, I was left greatly underwhelmed. The service was just ok. Our server was nice, but the service and attentiveness was slow. There were also people seated near us and one of the folks was vaping and not tending to her toddler. I could get past the toddler because of the fact that it's not his fault if he's not being monitored, but I'm pretty sure smoking and vaping are not allowed inside the restaurant and nothing was done about it. The interior was cute, and for 10:00 am on a Sunday, I expected a wait, but there wasn't one. The main attraction is the food. Let me be clear that it was not bad. It was very fresh, but it was bland and relatively flavorless (except for the jam). I spent the morning prior to dining watching a show on Food Network featuring bacon, so I was naturally drawn to the bacado omelet. I opted to get the salad on the side because 1) I need more veggies in my diet and 2) I love a lemony dressing. It came with multi grain toast and jam. The omelet was cooked perfectly, but it was sparse on filling and topping. I don't think salt or any seasoning was used in the preparation. I also really appreciate a salad that is not overdressed, but the lettuce was served almost naked. I probably should have asked for more dressing, but found myself trying to mix it with the little bit of sour cream served on top of the omelet. I will call the toast bread because it was hardly toasted at all. It did have a nice coating of butter and the jam was really good. The coffee was okay, not sure what brand it was, but I liked the carafe sitting on the table so I could pour my own refill. Overall, I put it as three stars, because I think I would go back, but it would definitely not be at the top of my rotation as Houston has some pretty amazing other competing options. I had breakfast at First Watch this morning as I waited for my husband's appointment to finish in the area and I really enjoyed it. I had the BLT eggs benedict and it was really good! The ciabatta bread was nice and crunchy and they made my egg just as I had requested. Service was quick and they were nice enough to sit me next to an outlet as they saw me walk in with my laptop. The place was quite busy but still with a relaxed ambiance. I'm docking off one star only because I had planned on ordering one more item, but the waiter gave me my check without me asking so I felt a little rushed at the end. I lucked up and found a front spot. It is located in a shopping center, so there a spots here and there as people come and go. I sat invisible here for about a 10 minutes before I stopped someone and asked how it worked. I was a first timer to FW. He was not my server, but was nice and took my order. The Community Table Server came over, noticed some friends/ regulars and proceeded to take their order. She didnt ask for mine. Perhaps she saw me talking to the other server and assumed that I had all of my questions answered. Geeeeesh... I'm never wearing green again, I think I may have blended into the Green Screen. The menu was just okay. Typical breakfast foods, sandwiches, and salads... some with a twist. I wanted to try something different or unique to FW, but went there hungry. Wont do that again because the portions seem fairly slim. I ordered the Waffle with the sausage patty and potatoes. They were good/as expected. Then I saw a different menu that had Vanilla Chai Latte Pancakes. They sound tasty, but I will never know... I figured that there was no use in trying to change my order. It may cause a further delay. I upgraded my rating to 3 stars because my waitress did come by and ask how I was doing towards the end of my visit. The place is always extremely packed and loud and and feels really cramped...the chairs are uncomfortable and the bathroom isn't very wheelchair accessible, not to mention how close the tables are to each other. The presentation of food is pretty poor for meh food and online orders are almost always missing things. For example, we ordered online today and all three drinks were missing as well as the chorizo (the best part of the dish) on two farmhouse hashes. I wouldn't recommend it but the tonics and tea are good and so is the superfoods bowl, so ig those. I wouldn't have the coffee either; tastes like dirty water, but at least the waiters are pretty polite and nice. (A lot of people like the pancakes and waffles too but I've never had them) read more

I ordered The Works omelet twice from them - once from door dash and once in the restaurant. The DD omelet was better cooked actually and hotter. The one inside was meh, seemed kinda lukewarm. Staff was very nice. They had three waiters there and not a lot of customers (5) and I thought 15 minutes to get my food was slow under the circumstances. Part of the omelet was burned, some side potatoes were burned, and they use large flat slices of onion that are like from the outer peel, so tough to chew. CHOP the onions please. Ambiance is mid. I know now my first disappointment was not a fluke. Both meals had a strange flavor. The dishes are simple with a classy minimalistic aesthetic. The waitress was very sweet and attentive and the food came out in a timely manner. The bowl was the perfect size and tasted refreshing. My one complaint was the toast was too thick and the almond butter was very sticky. In fact, it was hard to open my mouth because of the butter and it would stick to my teeth!
