I started my evening at Milton's ascending a small yet imposing staircase to reach the dining area. I will say that the anticipation paid off. The place is impressive and elegant. The staff were also pleasant and attentive, checking in on us and making sure we knew what dishes were new and popular. Based on recommendations, I got the lasagna, which was designed based on the Italian flag and was stunning-both in appearance and taste. Each bite was balanced and flavorful, going well with both of the sauces. The chicken parm was also elevated in flavor, giving a home-like and rich feeling to each bite. This is a combination review for a dinner at Milton's that I purchased at a charity auction and a subsequent meal where we brough our son and daughter in law to Milton's to celebrate their 4th wedding anniversary. Bottom line is that Milton's should be your go to place for just good old Italian fare but in an upscale but not stuffy atmosphere. Mark Sayre - the restaurant groups beverage director hosted the charity dinner for my wife and I and 4 other guests. We were served 9 courses family style including a couple of cold plates, a couple of salads, a couple of pastas and a couple of entrees along with a dessert. Everything was fantastic and Mark did a great job of hosting and explaining the wine pairings. The best of the apps was the Sicilian Tar tar. Tuna, scallop and salmon perfectly marinated on crostinis. The Hearts of Palm Salad was excellent, and they are definitely sharable, probably made for 3 - 4 guests to share. Of the two pastas the Cresta De Gallo stood out the most, but the Bolognese was also virtually perfect. Of the two entrees we enjoyed the Chicken Piccata slightly more than the Hanger Steak. On our second visit, Ryan was our server. He had been our server at Underbelly, One Fifth and Georgia James in the past and remembered us immediately and was a wonderful host for the meal. This time the table enjoyed the Chargrilled Oysters and the Parsley Salad to start. We also sampled 4 pastas - The Cresta De Gallo again, the Chitarra with Scallops and Uni, the Lumache with Vodka Sauce and the Sourdough Tagliatelle. All were fantastic. My personal favorite was the Chitarra. In the end we finished off all 4 so no leftovers. We then shared the Chicken Piccata as our only entree. This dish is so good. Juicy Chicken, flavorful sauce, and the Sourdough Tagliatelle was the perfect accompaniment. We also enjoyed two desserts - The Budino (which is more like a chocolate tort than a pudding) and the Tiramisu. Both wonderful. If Milton's wasn't over an hour from our house, it would become a regular on the rotation. But it is definitely good enough to warrant many return visits. read more

The breadsticks would most certainly be a last meal request from yours truly. The charred cabbage was satisfying...could've used a little salt. I appreciate the "small bones" warning from our waitress as I ordered the branzino but boy what an understatement!!! If I hadn't grown up in Louisiana picking bones since I was in diapers a choking incident or hospitalization would have been my wild card for the evening! Run don't walk. We popped in for a midweek date night and baaaaaby this place was everything. The setting was nice, they accommodated us at 9:20p, and staff was great. I believe Ryan took care of us. He was thorough and made sure we were well informed of what to expect as well as willing to accommodate request. We ordered the Negroni Blanco and Self Representation to drink. Both were delicious, but the Negroni was our favorite. We selected the Short Rib Lasagna and Branzino to eat. The lasagna was good, perfect portion, and not too heavy. The sauce was fresh and the noodles were well made. It didn't stand a chance! The Branzino was grilled to perfection. My only request was just a little salt to bring out the flavors more. It was topped with fresh herbs, veggies, capers, etc. He did bring me a house made chili oil that contributed to the heat I was seeking. So all in all no regrets would totally get it again. Oh did I mention he gave us an order of complimentary snap pea arancini balls. There was a lemon aioli and pancetta vinaigrette that was a perfect complement. I loved everything about the space. It was inviting, unique, and elegant. We peeped our heads in Lee's just to check it out. They were past last call so we didn't get to hang out over there. I most definitely will drop by soon. It was a bit small as we had jackets and purses, but we managed. Our server was Kara and she was great. My friend read reviews prior to our visit so she was aware of the complimentary bread basket. The bread basket is by request only and is not on the menu. It was really good and I'm glad we ordered it! The bread is baked fresh daily and they only bake enough for the day. I started with the Chaplin Swizzle. It was sweet and bubbly. The drink was very pretty and had a gradient effect. I also tried the Turin Horse which was similar to a Negroni. It had a completely different flavor profile, but I really enjoyed it. For my entrée I had the Roast Chicken. It was so juicy and flavorful. The portion was large and I had plenty for leftovers. I also enjoyed the bed of greens that accompanied the chicken. For dessert, I had the Olive Oil Cake. It came with vanilla ice cream and it was really good! I think I owe Milton and an apology. Milton's was our backup restaurant on a busy Friday night, but it should've been our first choice. I'm sorry Milton. Having to walk up the steps into the restaurant and enter the art deco-esque atmosphere was a shocking and well received suprise upon entry. I have never been more impressed by a restaurants interior. And as a music lover, you could tell the playlist was personally curated to perfect the atmosphere. lover and I greatly appreciated this. The Ruby Royale cocktail was to our liking, as was the Arnold Palmer which was made with some kind of lemon soda. The TLDR: friendly service, delicious appetizers and salad, the pasta is fresh but could use a little more salt, and the tiramisu is dreamy and delicious. Faves: - Arancini: creamy little fried clouds of comfort. - Heart of Palm and the Charred Cabbage: both crisp and delicious, wedge has a nice char and loved the bread crumbs to add some texture to the party. The good but could be better - Sourdough Tagliatelle: nice light texture, a bit light on the truffle flavor. I guess my taste buds crave salt Rock Shrimp: not bad, light chili garlic flavor. - sourdough garlic knots: had a really delicious flavor, especially paired w the burrata. Milton's is hidden around the corner from Local Foods and they serve some great "Italian-American food" as the host explained. There are a few flights of stairs to get up to the restaurant, and the interior brings you back a couple of decades. A little moody, a little romantic-- it's refined enough to wear nice clothing but also welcoming enough to go in jeans. Service was friendly and our water glasses were constantly refilled. They start you off with an assortment of warm bread and olive oil. The pasta is made in house and cooked well so it's actually al dente. My favorites were the cresta di gallo pasta, frutti de mare, and charred cabbage, but we all enjoyed everything. :D I'll save room for dessert next time-- we will be back! Definitely check them out for some nicely cooked pasta :) ** Charred cabbage: roasted tender and comes with a scrumptious dilly crème fraiche. A little challenging to serve but we could have just asked for a knife to help separate the cabbage. ** Frutti de mare: nicely cooked (happy it's not fried!) and not rubbery at all. It tasted fresh and was a nice mix of octopus, squid, mussels, and shrimp with a hint of acidity. ** Roasted squash: butternut squash that was flavorful enough to appease the veggie hater and roasted tender. Not extremely unique, but it was a tasty appetizer~ ** Rock shrimp scampi pasta: fun lumache pasta shape, didn't have many shrimp pieces but was flavorful with prawn oil and butter. I actually thought it tasted like pizza (in a good way!)... it was my second favorite pasta of the night. ** Cresta di gallo: named after the rooster's crest, this pasta shape is so fun! Even though this didn't have meat, the mushroom umami flavor was so satisfying that one doesn't miss it. Creamy but also not too heavy with the Parmesan foam, this tasted a little like mushroom stroganoff. ** Bolognese rigatoni: a classic and done right. Good balance of meat sauce and pasta to let the pasta shine. The guys enjoyed this one. ** Branzino: This was recommended by our waitress, and it was pretty good. It's been two weeks since I visited Milton's and I'm still reminiscing over their decadent tagliatelle. If ever there were a dish that could teleport you, it would be this one: infused, lathered, saturated in French butter, every bite echoed with Parisian hymns. I enjoyed the touch of orange and olive in the dip, could use some pepper too. Loving the Sourdough knots moment with burrata and truffle. All the best things in one dish kudos to the creative thought process just wish it was less oily. Texture of the pasta was soooo good and light and the sourdough crumbles added nice crunch. Even the spaghetti tasted like udon in the best way. 1 lb of eggplant and it was all cooked to perfection, very bready. You can tell they use quality ingredients. I came here again for needed visit this past Saturday night. I had the Citrus Salad for the appetizer and a Sourdough Truffle Pasta. Both were top notch in being very delicious and juicy in feel. The salad was refreshing, tart and had nice, succulent pieces of grapefruit / blood orange and burrata. It was a cool, contrasting starter and so creative too. I love fruit in salads and burrata is a great cheese for salads and hot, salty Italian foods. The pasta was warm, savory and had nice, big pieces of black truffle to contrast the cheese sauce and sourdough flavors in the entree. It was definitely one of the tastiest truffle pastas I have ever had so far with the one from Amore on Westheimer imo. It was different and high quality with a captivating taste. I still need to get their vodka pasta again and try that mushroom cream pasta soon, as well as a dessert like the chocolate cake or tiramisu they used to sell. Finally came to try this place out last Saturday. Albeit was very late, (like 9pm) but every bite was worth our time. The ambiance was quite busy for a Saturday evening. It's a quaint little spot for a lovely date night. We were offered chargrilled oysters, complimentary of the chef. That was a nice start considering it was our first time to dine here. In addition to the oysters, we had the Frutti di Mare with a mixture of shrimp, octopus, calamari and mussels. That dish alone was an excellent choice for a light appetizer. Everything we ordered was delightfully delicious. The menu was appropriately priced and offered a variety of options. I particularly came for the branzino and I wasn't disappointed. We ran into Daniel from Maximo's and he was gracious enough to stop by our table to chat a bit. It was nice seeing him. He had an after dinner drink (Caffe Noncoretto) brought to our table. Definitely some of the better red sauce italian spots in Houston, if not the best, and the ambiance is really nice. We started off with the chargrilled oysters, silician tar tar, & the beef carpaccio. They were all very good and better than our entrees to say the least. The entrees we got were the chicken parm and the truffle pasta. I was eyeing the scampi pasta hard but the server sold me on the truffle pasta. Parking is complimentary valet, which is always a plus. However, when we went to retrieve our car, we had to search for the valet attendant, who was sitting in his car watching a show. When he finally brought our car around, he immediately asked for my Cash App, which felt a little off. Wow!! Truly was blown away by this restaurant - my husband and I both! We shared a lot of appetizers then one pasta and dessert which was perfect for us since we love variety. We started off with the beef carpaccio which was so delicious then the oysters. Both are amazing! We then moved onto the arancini and fried onions with creme fraiche which both had such great textures and flavor profiles. We absolutely enjoyed! Had this corn creamy ravioli like pasta which was so delicate and delicious and finished off with the olive oil cake. Such an amazing food experience! Love the vibes here and great service read more

Small intimate dining area. Parking in lot, valet, or the garage across I guess. Moody vibes I felt. Not a fan of the restroom placement- just make sure you're all fixed up before coming out that door! Service was great- can't remember our servers name but he was very informative on the menu and helpful. Solid food. But a few comments. The garlic knots and burrata are supposed to be a highlight- but I was not a fan of the fried crispy state of the bread. It just ended up being like stale hard bread for me texturally. The truffle burrata part was great of course. Pastas are all housemade which I love. The cresta is also another signature dish supposedly? If you love mushrooms this will be a hit. I'm not crazy about mushrooms but I still enjoyed the funkiness. Usually I'm not crazy about just ice cream- but this sundae was delicious! All in all a wholesome meal. read more

Whew ok, so Milton's is easily my fav restaurant right now. They hit 10s across the board for me every single time. On entry the energy is so warm and welcoming. Every server that I have had has been a good time and super attentive. The bar tenders basically become your bestie during service, I love good banter and a strong drink, so definitely warms my heart. I've been 5 times now and the food is always mouth watering! I usually get an app like the pickled fried onions or the chargrilled oysters, then head into The Milton salad. I cannot over emphasize how much I love this salad! Right now my go to pasta is the Rock Shrimp Scampi. The garlic and lemonade so fresh and perfectly balanced. If this leaves the menu I will be a sad girly lol. Oh and the homemade bread basket, yes yes yes, with the fresh olive oil for dipping! I always forget to get my pics because I'm just so caught up in the food lol. Don't even think about it, just go, it's a definite yes and will not disappoint! And let me speak on vibes. It's like a glammed up intimate Italian feel, dim lighting with a beautiful aesthetic, open concept kitchen, cute booths and table seating. Very cute for a date night situation because of the intimate vibes. You don't have to dress up because I have fore sure been in my scrubs coming from work, but with the beautiful aesthetic you most definitely could dress up for the occasion and get nice pics. read more

I ordered my meal from the special "Dine Out Rice Village" menu supporting Southern Smoke Foundation. It is a pre-fixe menu for $55 per person. Started with the oysters and they were wow! Perfectly cooked, not overcooked, not tough, not too mushy, but Just Right!!! I do not recall having such amazing oysters before tonight! Entree choices were all delicious I'm sure, but having the Crusto de Gallo at my first visit to Milton's, I knew I must have it again! The foamy creamy white sauce is to die for. I don't know if I can ever come to Milton's and not order it. We ended with the tiramisu. Since it was our anniversary, our server Kyle and everyone really made us feel special and we were sent home with the olive oil cake that we wanted to try! This was his first visit & my second visit. First review of 2025 and Milton's deserves the 5 stars. Had a wonderful date night here and I can confidently say that this place gives such an elevated dining experience, yet small, cozy, and intimate. This almost brings back dapper style vibes mixed with Tiffany lamp fixtures. As if you're in the 1920-40s era. Arancini - top tier, crunchy outside, just melt in your mouth sottocenere cheese, makes you want to order plate to go 10/10 Chargrilled oysters - if I could explain the flavor bombs in this little cusp of an oyster, it would feel like an abomination. Drinking the little vessel of an oyster shell full of melted Calabrian butter, fried garlic, melted and crispy Parmesan with that salted taste, and of course pancetta. Chef's kiss. Mmmmppff Lobster and Scallops Ravioli - wowowowowow who knew such ravioli would be such a treat. When you're so used to a slippery ravioli that can't even stay on your fork, or when it breaks, it just doesn't tastes as good. No, not Milton's. Milton's does it right. The Lobster and Scallops Ravioli has BITE and has so much flavor, I kept coming back for more. Yes, please. The sauce was so thick and seafood flavored, I couldn't believe this was housing ravioli. Best first choice. Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti - my boyfriend rave about how much he LOVED this meal. He makes this meal very rarely just because it is so time consuming. And every chance he gets, he always orders it. And when I tell you, he made it to the CLEAN PLATE CLUB. If that doesn't tell you anything, then I don't know what does. Old Fashion - my boyfriend ordered this and it had notes of vanilla. We've never had this before and it was quite possibly one of the BEST old fashion drinks we've ever had. You best believe we will be ordering this again. Lastly, the service was fantastic. Just top notch. Let me tell you. We will make more excuses for more date nights at Milton's.
