This was my first time at this location and quite frankly I waited this long because I was underwhelmed by the typical fare. I will admit that I was wrong wrong wrong! I stopped y for a quick sandwich to go and realized they had a pick 2 special for lunch that had some very interesting selections. I was greeted by Sarah who was at the time checking out a couple. I waited by turn and asked about to go orders, confident I was now at the right place for my necessary lunch to go. I ordered at the desk with some suggestions from Sarah, half a beef and havarti and half of a chopped chicken avocado salad. When I arrived home I was so pleased with my salad serving it had plenty of sliced white meat chicken on a bed of fresh young spring mix. I was not fond of the French dressing ( my fault for Not noticing the paired dressing) but I was at home so easily remedied. I found the salad was perfect with a creamy poppyseed dressing I had in the fridge which I mention because I feel quite certain they carry some equivalent style if you are also not a fan of French dressing and are unsure what would pair well. The sandwich was just as pleasing plenty of Meat and the slices of bread were toasted by coating it with a cheese that is toasted like a Parmesan crisp! I recently visited this location while visiting some friends in Jacksonville. I've actually been to this location twice now and have not been at all disappointed. I live in Orlando and have one right down the street and am ecstatic to say that the quality remains consistent between locations. The service is always impeccable and the food is always amazing. One of my pet peeves is going to a restaurant chain and not receiving the same quality and service between locations. That cannot be said for First Watch. It was still being processed on the website around 11:10 am so I called the store in Bartram park to make sure they had received my order. Sadly, it is really hard to find good service nowadays and someone who goes the extra mile for someone with allergies. My sister and I have Celiac's and most times we don't know what to order. This location just opened within the last few months and visited recently and liked it better than it's sisters. They really did a nice job with the interior design. The food is made with fresh ingredients and tastes amazing. That million dollar bacon is a must try. The reason for 4 stars is just due to the slower service. We didn't see our server for about 5-10 minutes the first go around and then it took about 20 more minutes for the food. Wasn't the worst, but definitely could've used some improvement. I'll definitely try to visit again one day to see if it's improved. read more

My husband & I got to the restaurant & was told it was going to be a 10-15 minute wait. 20 minutes later, and watching people just walk up and be seated, I go in and ask for a wait time. So the customers who are there and are waiting have to wait for people who put their names online (regardless of the time they put it & the customers waiting already). We waited another 20 minutes only to be told that it would be another 20-30 minutes because everyone online was bumped ahead of us. At this point, I lost it. You have to be kidding. I told everyone outside that put their names down with us and we all left together because at this point we would NEVER be seated. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: you just lost 6 different customers with parties of 2 up to 6 because of your FLAWED ridiculous seating system. Word of advice, make it a requirement that your customers MUST sign in online if they want to be seated and not waste their Sunday mornings. You lost A LOT of customers today and word of mouth can really hurt a business, especially with such a flawed system. This occurred at the Southside location. read more

I've really enjoyed First Watch over the years. Very nice menu, with some interesting and healthy options that seem a little unique to the area. Not your typical diner food. But they also have some old standbys like chocolate chip pancakes to keep the kids interested in return visits. But they're not always on their game for service. Front of house as well as kitchen prep times. We have family who visited a few years ago who still tell the story of the 90 minute chickichanga that was served long after the rest of the table was done eating. And a visit to the new location yesterday reinforced these memories. The 20 to 30 minutes the hostess pitched turned into 40. And then our food and one of our beverages took another 40 minutes. Then even after the food was served, we still had to flag our server down and ask for water looong after the boy's hot cocoa had run out. The waiter sounded like he'd take the bill up for us, then never did. So we ended up at the register where the cashier never made eye contact, and seemed really distracted. Didn't bother to smile or ask how things were. Did that blind hand-off of my receipt in my general direction that just seemed like a downright rude conclusion to our 2-hour visit. They have made some improvements to the waitlist management over the years. But they still haven't seemed to tune much else. When they can get it to you hot and fresh, I'd say the food is a 5. But the 1 star service we often see ruins their overall rating. I'd still recommend them for off peak meals. You can feel good about what you're putting in your body. Whole grain, free range, juices, etc. But you're better off if you're not hungry when the rest of the world is. read more
