Oh how I miss J Christopher's. Not knowing about the new owners we drove over for brunch today. Pulled into the parking lot and the sign looked like a daycare had just opened in J Christopher's spot. After further review we realized it was a new restaurant. Inside it still looks like J Christopher's but that is where the similarity ends. All the "finer" things that made it better than Waffle House or IHOP are gone. Napkins are thin paper, and good luck getting more than the one that they wrap your silverware in. No cloth napkins, no cream for coffee (just the little half & half containers). Coffee bitter and cheap (they actually had a sign that said "bags of coffee for sale", Ha!!). And after waiting 10-15 minutes to get seated you get to go back up front and stand in line to pay for your meal, the server will not take it at the table. Food- the menu is now this healthy, turkey-sausage gravy monstrosity. Wheat-germ pancakes, omelets with weird combinations, and again TURKEY SAUSAGE. I ordered off-menu and they were nice enough to accommodate me. My dish was ok, nothing special except the mushrooms in the omelet, they were awesome. My partner's dish was poached eggs (they did have what he wanted on menu) and he wasn't overly impressed either. Service- Management is so nice, one is new, one is the same great guy who has been their forever. They even offered to comp our meal after they asked how things were and we politely told them we were disappointed. We didn't let them, just told them we weren't sure we'd be back (pretty sure we wont') since there are still J Christopher's we can go to in our area. Our server was friendly enough but seemed to be really overworked, had a hard time keeping up with drink refills for all in our section but she was obviously working her tail off. Apparently this Day Watch company has bought 2 J Christopher's in the ATL area with the option to purchase the other 17. I have my fingers crossed that they won't get them all, its been our very favorite place for weekend brunch. If you review this place without comparing to J Christopher's it is ok I guess, not a place you really look forward to returning. The food isn't bad but the dishes are very DIRTY here. My flatware had caked on green plant material so I reached over to the empty table and got a new set. That set had caked on brown goo on it. I picked up a third set and the fork was clean but the knife and spoon had dried flakes of stuff coming off. When we got our glass of water we could see a large black speck floating around in mine. It looked like a peppercorn. I was scared to look inside our aluminium coffee pot... They probably don't wash those and god knows what creature was inside it. The food isn't bad here but the prices are overpriced for such dirty dishes.. ($5.95 for a single pancake.) I see other Yelpers have complained about the dirty food encrusted coffee pots and water with particles floating in them. I assume First Watch doesn't care as it looks like this has been going on for some time. Next time you go,check your water glass, I guarantee you will see little particles of food floating around in it or get food encrusted forks. We won't return. read more

Having also eaten at the First Watch in Brooksville, Fl, this location was very disappointing by comparison. I ordered the eggs benedict w/ smoked salmon. The eggs that should've been poached were cooked too long. The yolks were solid. The smoked salmon portion was very small and tossed to the side of the plate and the toasted bun was burnt. Service was good hence the extra star. This was on a busy Sunday morning so optimistically, the food could be better on a weekday. With soo many options in Northeast Atlanta, we probably won't be back. read more

5 stars for the food, but 2 stars for the service. We've been here many times, and sometimes every weekend so lots of experience to go off of. If you come on a weekend, be prepared for a long wait. Checking in ahead of time of Yelp helps. Most of the time it takes a while for the server to take our order, let alone to get our food. Today we my husband didn't get his coffee or water until after our food came. And getting a refill, forget about that. I've also noticed it seems there is a ton of turnover in staff. Staff are never super friendly and seem super stressed and overworked, probably reason for the turnover. A suggestion to management is add more seating in the waiting area. You could easily add benches where the coffee table is, against the back of the booth by the door. Anyway, overall if you have time to spare and the patience, I recommend the food. read more

I first went to First Watch in Tampa, and absolutely loved it. I found out that we had that chain here in GA, and couldn't wait to take my family members there; however, what a disappointment! We were given a pot of coffe which was stained and dirty on the outside. I brought that to the waitress attention who gladly exchanged it, but the next pot had old food stuck on it. After bringing that to the waitress attention, she wiped the food pieces off. We waited over 40 minutes for our meal. People who were seated after us received their food before us! When we finally received our food, the order wasn't correct. The incorrect order was taken off our bill, but that didn't solve the problem. Pretty good place would be better if they had more tables to lessen wait time,which took 20 minutes. This was annoying. The food however was so good. The pancakes felt fluffy in my mouth and I loved it. This place is one of the best in the north Atlanta area. I really recommend this place. The drinks were also pretty good and I liked the coffee here a lot. If your looking to have a meeting this is the best place. The waiter was friendly and smart. The drink is good too. Came here for a birthday brunch on a Sunday morning. It was busy, so the wait was about 45 min, but the good news is TJMaxx is right there. So, I bought an awesome cardigan and shirt while waiting for my table. Totally #winning. Anyway, 4 adults and 2 kids were 100% satisfied! Everyone cleared their plates and fully enjoyed their meals. Food was okay. We ordered a To-go menu for Mothers Day and we ordered the Turkey Sausage gravy and biscuits. They forgot the hash browns. I called and manager was like it doesn't come with it when it did and then he realized he made a mistake. He told us he would comp us a free meal next time but he didn't even give any confirmation number or anything. Am I just suppose to walk in and ask for a free meal? Coffee wasn't hot enough and coffee pot was filthy. Water cup has food particles on it so waitress has to change to new one. After seating we have to wait over 55 minutes to omelet and traditional breakfast to come out. During the wait time none of the servers come to explain why food takes long. Finally at the cash register they ran out of printer paper and makes us to wait another 5 minutes. What a horrible way to ruin Sunday brunch. We will never go back to this place again!!! read more

Social Distancing Measures stop at the sign asking customers to wear masks. We appreciate the 60% of people that also wore masks as they entered and walked around the restaurant. Their avocado toast by far has the most avocado. Not a tiny thin layer of avocado like most restaurants - and there's flavor to it. If you want poached eggs, it's sometimes tough to find a cook that can get them right without a bunch of runny whites (a pet peeve of mine). But if they want to rise above and nail it...I would suggest using avocados that don't have a bunch of brown spots in them and warming it up a bit. Even room temperature would be better than cold avocado right out of the refrigerator. Kinda defeats the purpose. Other than that, it's my favorite place to get avocado toast. read more

Seated after 40 minute wait....Granted- busy for Father's day, looked promising...perused menu while waiting. After being seated ordered right away (was looking forward to eggs Benedict with the smoked salmon!!). Brought drinks out...large grapefruit juice seemed to have been served in a warm to the touch glass (prob right out of dishwasher). Glanced at wife's small tomato juice...glanced a few moments later and half of it was gone ....I thought she drank it but she said the bubbles fizzled down...tasted it and it seemed to have had some soda water in it? Brought out wife's order minus her toast....and my side of turkey sausage.......gave up waiting for the rest of my order after about 15 mins and wife nearly finishing hers....she did nothing to finish all because she was upset that I did not get my order. Got tired of trying to find our waiter or flagging down someone else..... Humorous part: gentleman at the register when trying to locate my check said that they would cover my part of the order....that I "shouldn't have to pay if I didn't get my food right?"...I think my resulting facial expression made him realize what he just said and he ended up covering the check entirely. This place is a disaster on the weekends. Long waits, bad service, disinterested management, and late food. As this is a chain, I visit a different one by my office regularly for breakfast meetings. The food is fine, better than ihop (what isn't?) and with some interesting and healthy options. It's a decent option at later morning during the week since the suburbs have few choices. But a breakfast place needs to bring their "A" game on the weekend. And this place surely doesn't. My most recent bad decision to come here was today (6/26/16). The wait was 25 min for party of 2 (which is not bad on a weekend) but having to watch folks in the same size party arrive after you and get seated was, to say the least, annoying. The worst is watching the same couple finish their meal, pay and leave before you even get served - which was the case today. When the manager doesn't even acknowledge any issues when you are paying, ask about your experience and barely even says a word, you know the disorganization and problems come from the top. This is the third time at this location and a similar situation happened when we came for weekend breakfast.(Other was for week day breakfast late morning which was fine). Other than the terrible organization of this place, the food (other than a few unique choices which I haven't tried ) is unremarkable. My wife likes the avocado toast. One redeeming option is flavored coffee creamer options at every table which is a plus for me. In summary, if you want to wait over an hour to eat breakfast, you are best heading to a place that's unique and is going to give you something to talk about. Food was smaller portion than usual. Iced coffee was delicious as always. One of the main reasons I come here. I usually dine at the Knoxville location and was excited to try this one out for a nice breakfast with my daughter. However, my waitress carol was very rude. Waited 8 mins before even greeted and then she finally came up and said "what can I get you?" Only reason I know her name is because it was on the check. Then while waiting for the rain to stop she asked me to move to the leather couches on the side while I was waiting. I understand a table with just one person and a baby isn't ideal, but I am a waitress myself so I would of tipped well. I may be a little harsh with the rating but it's not really worth 3 stars. They try to create a health conscious image but most of the food is anything but healthy. Maybe that's the way I lean anyway - if I come to a place like this it's not for a plate of fruit I can get anywhere. But worse, the flavor just isn't there - and I've now tried three times to like it. The food is quite bland considering the typically interesting list of ingredients, they are clearly not using top quality stuff - but they are charging a good amount for it. And don't be fooled by the chalkboard menu, it's not that fresh. The coffee is not brilliant, as good as McDonalds.
