Pretty darn good! I love the freshness and flavor of this place. The portion sizes are massive, so with that said, the cost of one dish can really feed two humans. I luv that they have ordering online and payment included to help staying safe and limit the 'rona contacts. (PS... you still can order over the phone, like I did, because I was driving a car). The hostess was very friendly, the food was high in quantity and quality, and the total order was correct. The banana granola pancakes were pretty good! A little heavy on the fillings, but it was better than the lemon cakes. The only reason I am giving First Watch a (4 1/2) star review is because the "lemon ricotta" ingredient on my order of pancakes tasted like an artificial jelly consistency. It wasn't horrible by any means, just a little too much "jam" for my personal preference. The ricotta part is baked into the pancake itself, if that helps visualize the breakfast choice. It's a good place when they get your order right. However, my eggs were not cooked right for a second time. When you want a good basted egg but you're given a hard boiled egg, it's not as good with avocado toast. Other than that, they are at least better than most IHOP's. read more

The first time I went here the food was great! Only exception was they burned the pancake and served it to me. It was clearly burned and we had it sent back. They did make it right and took it off our bill. I went there again over the weekend and it was just okay. I really want to like this place but they need to work on their consistency. Some of the best french toast I have had. The biggest thing with french toast is not making it soggy. First Watch nailed this on the head and even more so, managed to make it fluffy and moist. The menu is HUGE with tons of different options, traditional, healthy, savory, sweet and more. They also offer unique fresh juice options and the specials seemed seasonal and delicious. Additionally, this place is affordable. I paid 13$ for french toast and potatoes. I feel like you just dont find this kind of affordability these days. Our server was super nice and didnt shoo us even though we had been sitting there for quite a while catching up after eating. Terrible service, the waitress was nice, but spilled hot boiling water all over the table! Thank god it missed any of us seated at the table! The waitress burnt her hand holding the hot water carafes and needed medical attention! Then we waited 45 minutes for our food. When it arrived it was only a partial order, when the rest finally arrived it was cold, and incomplete! They completely forgot the fruit dish we had ordered. They brought me the wrong thing. Had to ask the waitress to correct our order, then when the bill came it had additional items on it we never ordered or received! No apology from the waitress, no manager to ask how our breakfast was, because she knew it wasn't going to be a good reply! I have been to the franchise at 64th and Ward Road in Arvada several times. recently things have gotten bad, maybe with new staff due to Covid. Eggs are often hard, wait times are ridiculous (despite empty tables), and food is slow to arrive. I don't blame the servers who seem to be doing their best but kitchen staff need help. We made our first visit to First Watch on Saturday morning. At 10 a.m. Party of 6. Yeah, I know - worst possible time to make your first visit. But the good news is that First Watch handled it well - mostly high marks from me. Be sure and put your name on the electronic wait list if you're going on a weekend (I don't know, but I doubt that there are long waits during the week). The electronic wait list worked great - we had a table within 20 minutes of putting our name on the list. They have several tables for six, so you don't need to be dissuaded if you have a larger group. I see that Yelpers are mixed on First Watch so far - slow service seems to be a common complaint in negative reviews. Our service definitely wasn't fast, but it was fine given how busy they were. And it was competent and pleasant. They leave coffee and water for refills on your table, which is a nice touch, especially when they're busy. Speaking of coffee, they're rightfully proud of their Project Sunrise coffee - it's fine, not exceptional, but a great story behind it - Colombian coffee "handpicked at precisely the right time by talented local female farmers on small 3- to 4-acre hillside plots (the Mujeres en Café) ... supporting and uplifting their families and communities." The menu is kind of froufrou - not a criticism - it just is what it is. Yes, you can get bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast (whole grain, of course). And interesting omelets and frittatas. You can also get morning meditation juice and kale tonic juice. And whole grain and lemon ricotta pancakes, Mediterranean Baked Eggs, Avocado Toast and A.M. Superfoods Bowl. Not to mention Power Bowls, soups, salads and sandwiches. So froufrou really isn't a criticism - just don't go looking for chicken fried steak and eggs - or burger and onion rings - wrong establishment for those. Prices are fine - most of the breakfast entrees give you a nickel back from a $12 bill. Our wait person told us that the former establishment, The Egg and I, was owned by First Watch and that all Egg and I's are being converted to First Watch. There's a definite family resemblance between The Egg and I and First Watch. First Watch is just the health conscious cousin that prefers kale tonic juice to OJ. Bottom line - First Watch is 3.5 stars. I could go up or down. I'm going up - anyone with the courage to serve morning meditation juice and kale tonic juice, deserves the encouragement. read more

I went there for brunch today with my group of friends. We had 5 people and around that time they were busy and did not have a perfect table for 5 so they let us sit at the long table in the middle. The food came out quick and taste ok to us. The waiter was amazing, he put down very specific that I have gluten and dairy allergy so the kitchen doesn't contaminate anything. That's an incredible work right there. However, the reason I gave 2 stars because the small petite waitress with glasses brought my food over with such an attitude. She was not nice and happy at all when she came to our table. She started talking loudly said "you can't sit over there" then set my food down next to my friend near the middle of the table. So I had to move to a completely new seat. Later we asked our waiter and he explained thoroughly. I just wished she had explained everything nicely to me then I would move. But she was so rude and had such an attitude to tell a customer to get out of the way. Like everyone was staring at me the moment she yelled at me like that. Hands down the worst breakfast I've had in a long time. But before I get into that, let's talk about the positives. I went to brunch with my wife on a little spur of the moment date. She wanted nothing more than Eggs Benedict and we had never been to this place before. Why not give it a go. We walked in and right away the place looked quaint. We were seated without delay, but then again it was a Tuesday. The menu was pretty big with a lot of choices. My wife chose the Eggs Benedict and I mistakingly picked the Italian inspired omlet. With both meals placed with the waitress we waited. And waited. And waited. Seemed like it took forever for the food to arrive but it eventually came. At face value the meals looked ok. My toast was drowning in butter for some reason, but ok. Biting into my omlet all I got was a mouthful of water. I assume this was because of the tomatoes. Immediately I regretted my decision. The mix of flavors which sounded good turned out to be terrible. The sausage balls (not actual sausage but nuggets most likely from a frozen bag) were tasteless. The whole thing a mess. My wife's Benedict was hard and chewy. Not at all runny like you would expect. Clearly the kitchen staff is inexperienced. The waitress was alerted to our disappointment and said she would speak to the manager. She would later come back with two $2 coupons for our next visit. Ultimately, our meals were awful. I figured I would say something when I cashed out. I told the lady at the register that our meals were terrible and she chuckled. I then asked if we could use the coupons now and she said no. I told her she could keep them and we wouldn't be back, and she laughed. Pretty piss poor response to an be unsatisfied customer. Needless to say the environment was nice. Pleasant atmosphere, the server was friendly (I hope she finds another place to work), but the food was awful. Don't waste your time here. read more

I do not usually post reviews, but any breakfast that makes me sad seems deserving. I will start out with the positive: The place is clean and cute. Our server was extremely nice and sweet. The coffee was pretty good. Then breakfast came. My favorite breakfast food that I judge every breakfasty place by is Eggs Benedict. I do not eat ham so substituted that for turkey sausage..what I was served looked SO promising. My eggs were WAY overcooked, the ciabatta it was on was not toasted and became mushy with the gloopy overly lemony hollandaise. I ate half of one of the slimy bouncy balls that were supposed to be my eggs, half of my piece of mushy "toast," and a bite of warm mixed greens. Our server tried to get the manager to comp my uneaten meal, but that was a no-go. She then gave us two $2 off coupons. The cashier could not have cared less that our breakfast sucked. We were charged full price ($11.00)for the world's saddest eggs, and would not let us use the coupons...said we could use them "next time." So we paid up, left them their coupons (there will not be a next time), tipped our server (she tried!), and left hungry. Bottom line: End of Watch for First Watch. read more

I've been eating at First Watch for years and I'm SO glad they've expanded so much over the last few years. I travel a LOT and anytime I can start the day with scratch-kitchen, intentional and delicious meals is such a blessing on the road. It's always a tricky thing to keep consistency when you have a chain of restaurants all over the country, but I've never been disappointed and the service was nothing short of delightful and accommodating. I had the Chickichanga and potatoes for breakfast and the oh so refreshing Kale Tonic to drink and it was the perfect meal after a long night celebrating Jerry Garcia's birthday at Sancho's Broken Arrow and 1UP! In reading all the reviews for the Lakewood location, it appears this location is going through growing pains of a new restaurant. Consistency of service and food appear to be hit and miss. Having said that, I had my apprehensions about going here, but we had to try it at least once. Gotta say our experience on this visit was great bell to bell. We just beat the Sunday morning rush, arriving around 9am. We were greeted with a warm greeting from the hostess and seated immediately. As we settled in, our server, Miranda, arrived and started us off with a pot of their Project Sunrise coffee. Coffee is a medium/medium dark roast with a pretty smooth flavor and pipping hot! We also tried one of their fresh squeezed juice offerings, Red Medicine, with pomegranate, cranberry, black tea, and cinnamon....delicious! My wife and I both ordered the Trifecta with a Belgian waffle, eggs and bacon. Orders came very quickly. Belgian waffle was crisp on the exterior and soft and airy inside. The warm berry compote was a nice alternative to maple syrup. Poached eggs were prepared perfectly; I ordered scrambled eggs wet but my eggs were cooked fully...but still very good. 2 strips of bacon were cooked fairly well done, with a nice flavor. Miranda checked in with us several times to make sure all was good. In the end without prompting, she told us how to checkout and offered a cup of coffee to go. We ended up purchasing a bag of their Project Sunrise coffee for $8 - a great deal. Overall, we had a great visit and look forward to coming back soon. read more
