To me, First Watch is an A-OK kind of place. It's affordable, service is usually good, and the menu is fairly extensive. The only reason why I am giving it 3 stars? I feel like there's nothing very innovative about their menu...it's nothing I couldn't just make at home. However, Sean H. loves this place...I think it's because the menu isn't froo-froo/overly fancy. He feels comfortable coming here. I actually wish I could give them another half star for publishing the nutrition info on their website. It makes it easier for us calorie counters/weight loss nuts who want to see exactly how much crap we're putting into our bodies. ;) Although I had the Breakfast Scramble today for brunch and I ended up not really eating any of the potatoes or fruit because I was stuffed from the eggs, OJ, and coffee I had so I didn't really know precisely how many I'd consumed which is OK but yeah...maybe they should list the caloric content of the sides too so you can always subtract. The one thing I do LOVE about them is that they serve the French Toast with a side of warm blueberry/blackberry compote. That stuff is the shit. Sean H. never eats his, so I just eat it straight-up. Nom nom nom. Maybe I will try something from the healthy menu next time. I remember when First Watch came to the St. Louis area about 10 years ago, I jumped for joy. First Watch had long been a favorite brunch spot when we would visit my aunt who lives in the KC suburbs. Even better, there's a location that is only about 10 minutes from where we live. My husband and I go here for Sunday brunch every once in awhile and have never been disappointed. Even though there's almost always a wait, I don't think we've ever waited for longer than 15 minutes (even when they told us it would be longer) and the food is always prompt and consistent. I order the Bacado omelet every time we go (I'm a creature of habit) and it is always delicious. My husband loves to experiment with his order, but I don't think he's ever been disappointed. The service isn't anything to write home about, but it's definitely never bad service. They're just kind of no-nonsense there so you just won't see your server much (but with a huge carafe of coffee and pitcher of water on the table already - who needs 'em?) First Watch loses 1 star on this last visit because the bacon in my Bacado was a little burned, but that's a minor problem - I still ate almost the whole thing. read more

It's a solid chain breakfast place. What can ya say? It's super cute on the inside and I have not had bad service (though don't go at high times, best to go at off hours like 7 am haha when it's less crowded). They have delicious options ranging from omelets and the traditional pancakes to healthier options like oatmeal or yogurt. The Belgium waffle I had today was cooked to perfection and the berry compote that was on the side was awesome (especially since I'm not a fan of syrup this was a nice addition instead of just butter!). I really like the fresh fruit crepes which is one of the healthier options that way I can actually justify eating out. They aren't terribly pricey at only about $7-$10/plate for breakfast. Three of us today only spent $26. Overall, this is a nice breakfast place with solid options that are more traditional at a reasonable price. read more

Have you ever heard of Perkins? Well, if you have, then you would understand my reference. First Watch greatly reminds me of Perkins. First Watch is a cute little restaurant that is suitable for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. They primarily specialize in omelets and sandwiches with a variety of different items on their menu. With their saying "I love you more than bacon" on the top of their menu, it is hardly the type of place that strives away from health. They are very determined to make sure they offer healthy items with the intent of keeping things organic and 'all natural'. After looking over the menu, I decided on their mix 2: Asian salad and half sandwich, the Beefeater. Jason, my boyfriend, got the Bacado omelet. Our food was brought out only after a few minutes after ordering. Jason actually heard them announce that his was ready from the kitchen with not much wait time before it was brought out. His Bacado omelet consist of bacon, avocado, cheese, and topped with sour cream with a side of salsa for dipping. My Beefeater was roast beef, cheese, a slice of bacon, tomato on toasted bread. My side salad was pretty good too. It was pretty much what was in any typical Asian salad. Chicken, crispy wantons, romaine lettuce with a ginger sesame dressing. Don't ever worry about having to refill your water because they leave a pitcher on your table for you to use at your own convenience. Service was nice and friendly. She regularly checked in to assure we were enjoying our meal. Plus the place was very nice and clean. I appreciate a nice, clean restaurant. I enjoyed it! read more

First of all, we made reservations through the Yelp app and we were given a reservation time that would allow us to basically walk in and sit down right away. We had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes anyway. The server didn't seem too interested in us, wasn't very friendly or personable, and only visited us twice during our 45 minutes meal. Everyone else was very kind and willing to make conversation. The food was a varied experience for me, though. The things my boyfriend ate were much better than what I ate (can't remember what he ordered), with one exception. The Millionare Bacon was fabulous! I feel like the pumpkin pancake I ate was okay, but relatively flavorless and not sweet enough for my taste. The syrup helped. The chicken sausage was something I'd never had before. It was odd, but it was okay. I probably won't order what I did, with the exception of that bacon! Last time I had the omelette and it was delicious. I'll probably stick with that next time. I would have given this visit a 3 star had it not been redeemed by the bacon, my boyfriend's food he let me try, and the funny cashiers and guy who gave us water. read more

I have been to First Watch many times, but this is the first time I have reviewed it. First watch is basically high grade Denny's/IHOP. The food is prepared a little more carefully, the service is a little better, and the prices are just a tad bit higher. First watch is a great place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch. Wow!!!! This place is fabulous! My boyfriend and I have had breakfast here twice in the past two weeks and we both tried different things each time we have went and we have enjoyed what we have eaten. There is not a bad option on the menu. There are a wide variety of breakfast choices from classic diner food to healthy and even some vegetarian options. I had eggs benedict on my first trip there and an Acapulco omelette on my second trip and it was amazing and I would not hesitate to order it again. My boyfriend had the fruit crepes and the musili. Visited for breakfast with a group of friends, and we enjoyed our visit. They offer a variety of healthy to unhealthy options, and offer breakfast as well as lunch options. I tried a breakfast sandwich and pancakes, and strongly recommended sticking with the pancakes! They have a carrot cake pancake that is out of this world. Their coffee is also very good, and they give you your own pot to keep refilling as needed. The selections are a little pricier than your typical diner breakfast, but you are paying for added quality of your food. You should get there early as during peak weekend hours there is usually at least a half hour wait. Our waitress was not attentive which is to be expected when super busy like this place is, but it's why I didn't give First Watch 4 stars. Mmm...First Watch. There's a 20 minute wait on weekend mornings for a reason. The food is delicious! My favorites include the Trifecta with a wheat germ pancake instead of a waffle and the Floridian French Toast with all that fruit! I've never had a bad cup of coffee there either and the coffee in the lobby while you wait is a good bonus. The food comes out quickly and it's always hot. My gluten free husband enjoys the Bacado (bacon, avocado omelette) with a fruit cup instead of an english muffin. The only reason I didn't give First Watch 5 fabulous stars is sometimes the servers forget things. For instance, additional water glasses (for those without one), more water (since the pitchers are so darn full of ice!), sugar-free syrup, a to-go box...I've had instances where all of these items were asked for and forgotten. Not the end of the world but certainly detracts from the experience a little bit. read more

The last time I ate here, though, I couldn't find fault in anything - it was a great experience all the way around. I kinda suspected that my first visit was anomalous in its subpar service, and I'm happy to say that my hunch was correct. First Watch offers unique, customizable options for a variety of appetites and tastes. Whether you like the traditional breakfast items or need something more specialized and healthy, I can guarantee you will find it here. I have never had a problem making substitutions or asking for things to be prepared in a different way. I'm glad to say that I've never had an incorrect order or had to send anything back despite the specificity of my order. Best of all, I've never had anything that was less than completely delicious and satisfying. If I didn't live in Creve Coeur, I would be back more often. Sigh. Quoted a 20 minute wait. We wait for 40 minutes before checking in when hostess staff says they allow person using a "no wait" app to cut in front of us and we still have another 15 minutes to wait. If we knew the wait was 55 minutes we would have never stayed. The staff acted like this was totally reasonable and no concern for the ridiculous system they have in place and the way they misled us.
