First of all the place was very busy when we passed it on the way to mom's doctor appointment. I lived close to a First Watch in Dayton Ohio many years ago. The Springfield location is way more upscale and classic. Second the food was just as good even though the selection was different. This is a must try for anyone. There is a large selection of seating to fit one to several. The service was quick and pleasant. Try the half soup and salad, it was the perfect amount for lunch. I had the a breakfast power bowl which was an extremely large serving so make sure you are hungry. I would recommend First Watch for anyone. So I was searching everywhere for a cute brunch place for my birthday in Springfield and decided on this one! When we pulled up the restaurant, we were initially shocked at how modern and adorable the exterior was and then at how packed it was. After reading all the reviews and seeing food pics on yelp I knew we weren't going to regret coming here. We went inside, the hostess got our name and number to text us when a table was ready, and we waited for maybe 10 minutes and got sat. Our waiter was extremely helpful in what we wanted like he literally had to come ask if we were ready to order like 3 times because we couldn't decide from all the yummy things on their menu. We finally decided on our choice of food. We waited over 40 minutes for our food but honestly it was okay because we were aware of how busy they were that morning. First visit here: wait was short, however the seating was odd. My husband was sat in the middle Of the room and was bumped into 3 times. The wait for the food took about 40-45 minutes once we placed the order. My husband ordered the eggs Benedict with a side of potatoes,and I had the breakfast tacos. His arrived with the wrong side and cold, but after waiting for 45 minutes he was too hungry to wait longer for another plate. The eggs were cooked unevenly(one more poached than the other) and the sauce was bland. My tacos were very tasty! My only complaint was that they were falling apart (as in half out of my taco shell on the taco platter.) The black beans they came with were simply heated black beans with a dash of pico. Great Service, Krystal was my server today. Food was awesome. I am trying to eat more veggies. They were very accommodating to give me roasted zucchini instead of bacon in one of their omelets and added shallots. It was awesome. Very flavorful and not too much salt :-). I opted to eat the potatoes instead of the bread because that's a lot of carbs for me. And the potatoes were wonderful. Very seasoned and roasted so a little crunch with them. They were perfect... they were soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Tea was good too (I know this is kind of a southern thing but seriously who wants to eat at a place with bad tea). Update 2/21/18 I've been asked for a follow-up visit. +1 star for listening to feedback. Def will be giving this place another shot. Came in the the lady for a little breakfast. Read some good reviews and were excited to try it out. First off the place is nice on the inside. Lots of seating with plenty of room between tables so we didn't feel packed it. Good points for layout. 30 minute wait on a Sunday at noon is 100% acceptable; so far so good. Get seated, order drinks, and look over the menu. I go for the Tri-Fecta. Sunny side up eggs, Chicken sausage patty, and waffle. I also added a side of their seasoned potatoes because why wouldn't you? The lady went for the elevated egg sandwich and a muffin. 30 minutes later and empty drink glasses we get served. Eggs A-ok, chicken patty thing was not my cup of tea, waffle A-ok, and the seasoned potatoes were sadly underwhelming. Normally I would stop there and give this place 3 stars and move on, but over the hour we were seated our glasses hit empty and just sat. We were not the only people spinning around in their chairs trying to find a server. Its was pretty unusual. Looking over in the kitchen bullpen and they are just chatting it up. Not sure who runs front of house but I have to wonder if they were away today. Was really disappointing. The Good Nice layout and comfortable seating. Lots of variety on the menu. Well, I can say I've been to First Watch. Next time if I want to visit a breakfast and lunch only restaurant, it will Jimmy Egg. I wasn't impressed! Our server was attempting to up-sell juice drinks, bacon, etc. The bacon was not to my liking at all. Once we were able to order it seemed to take forever to get our order. I tried the Morning Meditation breakfast juice....yuch! It was topped with beet juice....double yuch!! Bacon....I love bacon...but not this bacon. Overall our server was friendly, we ordered the juice after a brief up-sell, but took forever to get...as I mentioned getting our breakfast seemed like it took forever. The hollandaise was a bit too think but the bigger problem were the eggs that had been poached too long so there was so little of that beautiful yolk. I mentioned it to my server and he just nodded and said ok. I was a bit surprised, there seemed to be a general air of nonchalance in the service. Also, I was actually kind of excited about the greens option versus potatoes but the greens were underdressed and the dressing lacking flavor. A side note not about the food, my experience was also marred by having a table that was sat near me shortly after I arrived. Both times I have been here, there has been a 15-20 minute wait. So it's still new and fun in springfield! I had the chicken avocado chop salad with a bowl of hearty vegetable soup and was not disappointed. I like that they leave a carafe of water on the table for you to refill your own. It took awhile to place our order,but in our waitresses defense,she did ask us before we were ready and had to come back. Another neat thing is the community table which seats about a dozen-like sitting at the bar, you can eat there if you don't want to wait for a table. And maybe make some new friends. Visit #2: breakfast. Had a big omelet with lots of mushrooms and meats in it, with a little side salad and toast. My sister had the homemade granola (yum!) and says the carrot juice is amazing. I did ask this time around about GLUTEN FREE/Celiac disease. They don't currently have a paper GF menu but you can view it online(they're working on the paper ones) and that they take gluten allergy/Celiac disease very seriously-you just need to let Your wait staff know. I love several things about this place, starting with the fact that you can reserve a spot in line through the app. Sure it doesn't guarantee a table right away, but it makes your wait much much shorter! The food here tastes and looks really fresh! All the plates looked very appetizing and had a good quantity. I had the market skillet hash the first time and couldn't eat for several hours after. The eggs were VERY well done, the potatoes were perfectly crispy and the veggies were tasty. The toast and fruit on the side were an added bonus. My boyfriend had the seasonal bacon meal and was very pleased with it! My favorite was the pear cider with ginger! The cider was fresh, chilled and super refreshing! It made a perfect addition to the meal! I had the avocado toast with eggs the second time and while this was a healthier dish, it was filling too!it lacked a little seasoning but the eggs made up for it! I hate to be a nay-sayer about a new place, but here I go. This is located in the former Shoney's location which I was glad to see turned into something. They kept the sunroom on the front and remodeled everything very nicely. We visited on their first Saturday open, so we expected some hiccups. There were a few, but most were easy to overlook. I do hope they will figure out the heating/cooling of the sunroom, but until then, my advice is not to sit in there. It was a few degrees warmer than a blast chiller & once we got our food it wasn't warm for long as a result of the constant cold air blowing on it. Then we get to the food itself. My husband & son had different pancakes & both were fine. I ordered an omelet & it was good. As a breakfast place, those should be no-brainers anyway. We got a side of biscuits & gravy to try, and I wholeheartedly disagree with another reviewer who liked it. It is my opinion that breakfast gravy should be made with pork fat (bacon or sausage grease) NOT poultry fat (turkey, chicken, duck, etc). The latter is fine for 'dinner' gravies but just tastes wrong for breakfast. If you don't share that view, you may like the B&G here just fine. Overall, my 3 star review stems from the food being 'fine' but not worth $50 for the 3 of us. read more

We gave our name and phone # and waited for quit awhile. We paid attention to the people coming in and kept getting passed over. I first assumed other people had used the app but then noticed people were giving their name and phone#. I finale went up and asked why people were going ahead of us and was told they were using the app. I said most of the ones were giving their name or phone #. We decided this wasn't the place to eat for us. Update - I was impressed that I was contacted by First Watch. They apologized to for our first experience and asked us to give them another chance, so we did. I must say that the today was a much better experience. We were immediately seated but I did check on the app to get in line but didn't need it. The atmosphere and environment were very nice. The waitress was very polite and nice. The food was really good and the only issue was that a couple of pieces of my wife's avocado were a little too ripe. Over all an excellent experience and would recommend going again. I had breakfast around 9am Friday morning. I was kindly greeted by the host and got seated right away. This place does fill up fast, but I got right in before the crowd started to roll in. Gabrielle dropped off my menu and offered me some coffee. The menu had great options for everyone. I had the Chicken Chimichurri Hash. It was a tad salty for me but still very very tasty.
