Joined waitlist on google and was sent a text to check in at the front. Went in to check in at front and was met with a "I'll be right with you" by Albert. Which is fine. But a white family walks in immediately after and he tends to them, checking them in right away. I talked to a nice lady right next to him whom I told I was waiting but was never checked in. She told Albert that I was first to which Albert whispered something to her. I asked him what he whispered and he said it was nothing and then checked me in. When I signaled for the rest of my family to come in to sit on a bench on the inside to avoid the cold, he aggressively said, "You'll be texted when your table is ready." I live close by and was hoping to try this new brunch spot that opened up but was very disappointed by the microaggression and/or straight up aggression from Albert. Do better. read more

My 9 year old daughter is an extremely picky eater but she Loved her Trifecta...especially the pancake! I chose the Avocado toast and it was Amazing! I was just at this CWE location eating at the bar. A gentleman with a hat on sitting at the bar outside area starts smoking. THE SMOKE IS COMING INSIDE toward where I am sitting. I'M COUGHING! (I have MEVER smoke). I LEFT to pay my bill. Before I left I asked the waitress at the bar if he could smoke there, the SIGN CLEARLY SAYS on the outside area NO SMOKING! She didn't know had to go and ask someone!???????? When I checked out I asked the manager about smoking there he said to me " no worries" of course no worries I told him I'M LEAVING! The manager also asked me was the man SMOKING OR VAPING!!!! WHAT!!!???? I see the waitress and manager DID NOT want to address this man!!! What an establishment!!! read more

I was visiting from out of town last weekend and went here with my friends. Super excited about this newly opened spot but the experience was far from what we expected. The food was okay but the service was the worst I've ever had. First, it was a busy Saturday so we joined the waitlist early and then went there less than 30 minutes after we joined. We waited there for over an hour and everyone who came after us were seated, and I checked with two groups of people who assured me they joined the waitlist after we did. We checked with the host for three times but the only thing the host was able to tell was that "it's not what I see in the system." After we got seated, our server brought us some coffee and then left. The server did not bring us water until we asked and did not provide us with utensils. When we were ordering, my friend does not eat cinnamon so we asked if could they remove the cinnamon from the french toast. But the server said their french toast did not contain cinnamon although it was listed as an ingredient on the menu. Unsurprisingly the dish was served with A LOT of cinnamon on it. We waited after all food was served and there was no utensil. Because our server was nowhere to be found, we tried to ask another server for help to find them but that server just pretended that they did not see us. I had to walked to the kitchen to ask for utensils and our server was constantly chewing food when taking to us. Of course, despite our frustration, there was not even an apology. The food was okay. But I don't know if anyone would want to receive service like this just for the okay-food. read more

Called the restaurant and the first young lady that answered the phone told me it was busy and hung up. Called a second time and I hope the young lady took my name and number. We've been to the Central West End location twice and enjoyed the food and the vibe both times. The breakfast menu is very good and we appreciated that they had some healthier options after lots of meat and potatoes meals. I can't give five stars though because we had a service issue on both visits. The service is attentive, but not as accurate as you'd hope. The first time I ordered the quinoa breakfast bowl with sausage and topped with an egg and was served a chicken pesto bowl. The ingredients were close enough that I didn't notice right away and when I mentioned it to the server he seemed genuinely confused that they're different. The second time we were there I ordered the fancy coffee special and when I asked for some cold brew to tame the sweetness of the latte the server said "oh, did you want a coffee?" I literally ordered the COFFEE special. She was so friendly and our meals were very good, but it's disappointing that on both occasions the servers weren't familiar enough with the menu to recognize mistakes. It won't keep us from returning but we'll definitely keep a closer eye on our orders. read more

It was a really busy Sunday so I'm trying to cut some slack but this was sadly a really poor showing. We ordered two iced coffees that were literally two cups of milk. Entirely white and no coffee. We got extra coffee that we poured in so it wasn't a huge deal but seriously how do you mess up an iced coffee? We both got entrees that were supposed to come with a side of mixed greens and we ordered a side of potatoes. I got a side of potatoes with my entree by mistake so we ended up with double potatoes. My gf's salad wasn't dressed so it was just dry arugula. She got eggs Benedict and the eggs were basically scrambled inside. My sunrise sandwich was good. I know times are tough but hope they get it together more soon. Some easily avoidable problems. read more

Bottom Line Up Front: 2-star Service, 3-star Food, 4-star Atmosphere Service 2-star: When we walked in, the hostess mentioned they were short-staffed so we would have to wait 10-15 minutes for a table so they could catch up even though there were a lot open. That was totally acceptable. But once we sat down, it took 15 minutes just to get drinks and more than 30 minutes after drinks just to get our order. I would be more accepting of this if I did not seeing our server along with others walking and talking amongst each other frequently without so much as a glance toward our table or update on our orders. Once we got our food, they only brought out 3 of the 4 meals and after 5 minutes, I had to ask another server where the 4th meal was until they said oh yes it'll be out soon. After that, very little interaction with the server and we had to ask the server for water refills. In total, with over an hour at our table, we had only three interactions of taking our order, receiving drinks, and receiving our food and none of the interactions portrayed really strong customer service, rather just going through the motions as quickly and easily as possible. Food 3-star: I decided on the Chickichanga and honestly thought I ordered the wrong thing because it did not look like what I was expecting (and post-review, looking at the stock photo, it didn't look like that either). It felt and tasted like an omlette instead of a chimichanga with very little of the toppings inside and too much dousing of the vera cruz sauce. Atmosphere 4-star: This is a very cool place. I remember when the location first opened as 1764 Public House and a lot of the cool features remained like the small bar with outdoor counter seating and the sunroom. It was bright and festive. Hopefully as the restaurant matures, service and food will improve to match the great atmosphere! read more

My wife and I went out to breakfast at First Watch Tuesday morning, and we had the pleasure of meeting Devionna. Devi was the most you could ask for in a server. She was upbeat and polite without gushing and maintained her professional demeanor at all times. My wife has a sensitivity to gluten, and Devi was very helpful with my wife's menu choices. She took our order promptly, and our food arrived promptly. Our order was well prepared and well presented. My wife had gluten-free French toast while I ate a Belgian waffle with a fruit cup on the side. Both were very nice, and the decaf coffee was great, but Devionna was the real star of the show. read more

Everyone we interacted with at First Watch was friendly and professional. Super attentive service, food arrived timely, and our meal was great. Will definitely be back. Excellent selection of brunch food! Logistically, this restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch. Parking is available on street or in a nearby garage, and will be paid parking unless you want to walk for a bit. I came here with a large group at 7:30 am on a weekday morning. Service was prompt and very attentive - our server was definitely working for his tip! They have a wonderful selection of sweet and savory items, as well as a healthy foods option and seasonal specials. Our server recommended specific favorites of his from each category, which was very helpful! I got the butterfly tea lemonade and the lemon ricotta pancakes. Both were quite tasty! I thought the pancakes might be a little dry since they were only served with lemon curd, but they were delicious. Our family of five had breakfast at First Watch before driving back home after being in St. Louis for a Cardinals game. We always enjoy First Watch and this location was no different. We ordered a couple orders of the Traditional and a Waffle. Both were Delicious!! We just have to make sure and order the toast with no butter because they put a whole stick on one little piece of toast.. The coffee is some of my favorite!! The server was very friendly and she was trying her hardest..she was all over the restaurant. I think they may have been short-handed that morning. I did have to get up to request coffees to go but it was not a big deal since we could tell she was so busy.
