This is one of the go two places that my St. Louis family takes visitors to eat when they are in town. We came in today for a breakfast prior to airport drop off, and it did not disappoint. I had a veggie omelette with egg whites. The omelettes come with pancakes. The most surprising thing about my breakfast was how fluffy the omelette was. It literally bounced when the server placed the plate on the table. My two little ones had a half order of brioche French toast, and a strawberry waffle. They really specialize in the breakfast breads here, so the pancakes, French toast, and waffle were all delicious. Our other family members also enjoyed their food. One of the best things about this place is that the food comes out extremely fast while also being hot, fresh, and well-made. They were popping on a Saturday morning, but we were able to be sat right away at 7 AM in the 7 AM hour. By the time we left around 8:30, there were people waiting for tables. read more

In spite of the Toast app, we are seated. I really like the people here and the omelets are especially yummy! I knew it was going to be a problem when they changed how reservations are made and waitlists are "maintained" Well, I'm fairly certain that First Watch is pleased that The Original Pancake House has made this uninformed decision. Brunch here was oh so delicious and great value! The coffee here was really good for some reason, and so was the chocolate milk. The maple syrup is not real but you can ask for real maple syrup for a slight up charge. The scrambled eggs were pretty standard, but well cooked and moist. The turkey sausage was really flavorful as well. As for the pancakes, they come in huge portions and are so fluffy and delicious!! The chocolate chip ones were my favorite. So gooey and chocolatey. Service The manager almost spoiled my dining experience. If it wasn't for our waiter saving the day. First we had to wait about 45mins to get a table. We had a party of 4 but manager wouldn't seat us until the 4th person came into the building. It's petty because each table seats 2, 4 & 6+ It didn't make sense. Food Our waiter Sam suggested the NEW Banana Bread Griddle Cakes because I love their Banana pancakes. The Banana Bread Cakes came with caramel sauce but I love their Tropical syrup. I did try a small amount of caramel sauce and it tasted homemade, very good. The Cakes were fluffy with slightly crispy edges. The texture is dense almost like pound cake. The flavor is slightly sweet but not overly sweet like cake. I felt like it was missing one ingredient maybe the caramel sauce was the missing ingredient. There's no banana on the inside like the original banana pancakes. It's like banana bread. The Banana Griddle Cakes is a one & done for me. I love the original banana pancakes. The Spinach Feta Omelette & Banana pancakes is my go to order every time. The last couple of times I ordered the omelette I noticed their using a smaller amount of ingredients but it's still yummy. read more

I arrived around 11am on a Saturday morning around 10:55am It was BUSY! I messed up and didn't see I could've joined the waitlist from my hotel. I was 48th in line with my party of 3 with an estimated wait of an hour. This was recommended by front desk manager at my hotel and my Lyft driver hyped them up though. During the wait, we went to the nearby shopping center to kill time and bought some things. Table was ready at 12:15pm. We ordered at the 12:21pm. Liz was our waitress. I got the bacon lovers breakfast (bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, and 3 pancakes). One son for the chorizo and pepper jack omelette; the other got pecan waffle, a side of sausage patties, and hot cocoa. The food came at 12:32, which was so quick! Honestly, everything was delicious and you get your money's worth! While the bacon was nice and thick, I wished it was a bit more crispy. My teen son, who was very impatient and didn't want to wait, said "This was definitely worth the wait" after he finished eating. My tween son gave it a 5/5! Unfortunately it had been a few years since I've been able to come back here but it is as good as I remember. Got the buckwheat with blueberries. A regular stack was (6) 6-inch cakes. The pancakes didn't need syrup but were not too sweet. Also got 2 sausage patties. The sausage had a bit of spice to them, but was happy with them. Waitress was on point and didn't let me run out of coffee. My only complains are the sausage patties were a little pricey, not open on Mondays and open at 7:00, but that is me just nitpicking. OPH is one of my favorite places to get a classic breakfast. They are a little pricier than your average diner, but the food is always consistent, hot and delicious. My mom and I both had Sausage patties and eggs , both were cooked well as we don't like runny eggs and love a little crisp on the sausage. We subbed the pancakes for Waffles (hers has pecans) and Hot Chocolate. The waffles are already very sweet so you don't really need hot chocolate if you're not into sweet foods We spent $60 after tip, again not cheap but great food and well cooked! read more

Our first time, wonderful experience! We went on a Friday morning around 9:30 and there were five other groups sitting outside already waiting, but the wait was only about 10 minutes. While we were waiting for our food, one waitress offered us an extra Dutch baby that they didn't need and showed us how to mix all the toppings on. So fun and so yummy! The entrees were pretty good. The biscuits and gravy were decent but nothing particularly noteworthy. The pancakes were some of the best we have had. There was a mix up with our apple pancake order and we had to flag down our waitress to get it and there was a substantial delay, but they brought us complimentary bacon and whipped cream and took it off our bill, so overall we were very satisfied with the experience. My friends couldn't believe I had never been here before. I guess I equated OPH with other chains but I guess I was wrong. At least this particular store was very nice. I ordered the turkey sausage and spinach omelette. It was soooo big. I was going to skip the pancakes but my friend said how good they were so I got those too (FYI per the menu the pancakes come with it but you can omit them from order). The pancakes were large and fluffy but I was not wild about the their taste. Omelette was very good. I got 2 meals from it bc it was so big. Their coffee is strong. I had some time to kill and decided that breakfast would be a great way to do so. Conveniently located near the grocery store, this place seemed like a great option. It was friendly and welcoming inside with the usual bustle of a breakfast shift. I sat at the countertop, which was nice since there was a long wait for a table, and being a single person, I appreciated the ability to skip the wait. It was busy, as it was the day after Christmas, but everyone was cheery nonetheless. I did not realize what a treat I was in for until I saw the menu. Wow! Some very tempting options! They have a fresh squeezed orange juice machine, which was to die for, not to mention, entertaining to watch. I went with the strawberry pancakes, which came with a homemade strawberry syrup that was amazing. I really wanna talk about the cakes themselves, though. They were extremely light and fluffy, not heavy. The standout quality, was the brown, crispy surface area of the pancakes. I was blown away!! Dare I say these were the best pancakes of my life? I have visited a few of the other original pancake houses around the US and I was so excited to see there are not one but two in the St Louis area so I knew I needed to visit one at least on my trip home. As luck would have it My breakfast buddy had to cancel and so being close to lude iI knew I needed to stop in. Being just a few days before Christmas the crowds were out in full force but since I was dining alone the hostess offered me counter dining so I found a spot quickly and was greeted with a bright smile and an offering of coffee which I immediately agreed and a smile in return. I perused the menu and noticing they did not offer sourdough at this location as they did in others I decided I would choose the apple pancake which looked pretty sizable but I was up for a challenge. I also chose a side of well done bacon. As I waited I admired the artwork around the restaurant and watched as the servers scurried around helping the guests in the extremely crowded and happy restaurant. From the outside it doesn't look like this is a very large place but once you step in there is plenty of seating for everyone and yes as people get excited about their breakfast it gets loud so be prepared. Before I knew it my Apple pancake was set before me and let me tell you there should be a disclaimer saying this could feed a family of four lol. The smell of cinnamon fill the air and set my taste buds on full alert. This glorious pancake just made my entire day. The apples and cinnamon and pancake just made me so happy with my choice. The crispy bacon was absolute perfection. Now I only finished about a third of the pancake but they gave me a lovely aluminum foil container so I could heat it up later in the oven. My server was an absolute delight she kept my coffee hot and ready at all times and absolutely filled to the brim and when I left I was ready to come back again and again and again but sadly I had to go over to Illinois to stay with family but I will be back again soon. read more

If you go before thanksgiving, they have seasonal items such as the pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes which are my favorite (trust me you want to try these even if you don't love pumpkin flavored foods or drinks)!
