Brandon was our server. He was very welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable. FYI parking is limited street parking but weekends I'm told street parking is free. We arrived early and thankfully got a great up close spot. Entrance is thru the outside patio which is really spacious if you're deciding to go that route. Walking in building is well lit, clean and spacious. Plenty of seating options available. We ordered Meet me in St Louis , one a scramble egg and one over easy both presented on a skillet. This consist of ham, bacon, sausage, green and red peppers, white onion, cheddar cheese, served over hash browns with two eggs. This was meaty and seasoned well. For drinks bottomless coffee and one breakfast punch and white peach sangria . Both were fruity delicious and sweet. I have found my go to spot for a great quick breakfast date. Great local diner with an extensive menu! We stopped in for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised with the variety of options to choose from. The staff was very kind and attentive but not overbearing. Our waitress was patient with questions and willing to help with substitutions! Some friends and I chose breakfast here since it was close to our job. There was no wait on a late Thursday morning. The restaurant was nice and the music in the background was great! The food was just ok, though. I ordered what's basically a traditional breakfast. I noticed that their pancakes, waffles, and French toast don't come as a platter, but they will allow you to upgrade your bread to a pancake for a small upcharge with their traditional breakfast. The eggs and hash browns were fine. The turkey sausage was just ok. I was not the biggest fan of the pancake. It was very flat and a little hard on top and I prefer a fluffy pancake. I ordered the mimosa flight and it was really good! My favorite was the apple cider mimosa. Although I wasn't wowed, I'm open to trying something different. read more

The portions for most the meals at our table were large so that's a plus especially since I found them to be pricey. The seating inside seemed odd between the different rooms. Nice place to visit for breakfast or even brunch. They have quite a few unique menu options, which made it hard for me to choose what I wanted to order; but that was a good thing since everything looked so good. I ended up having one of the omelettes and it came with hash and toast. I liked that I could choose what type of bread I wanted for the toast and ended up choosing an English muffin. Overall the taste of the food was good. The portion size was filling, although the hash was a little too greasy for me and some pieces were overcooked - too hard to eat. However this would not deter me from coming back. This place has a nice vibe and as previously mentioned the menu has a variety of nice options. I would come back to try more things. read more

Was delighted to find a KS Diner in Clayton, having frequented the one in CWE. The menu has something for everyone - breakfast/lunch/ brunch, including healthy dishes like Veggie Hash (my favorite!) Chock full of roasted Brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes, perfectly seasoned. Portions are generous - you won't go away hungry. Gracious, accommodating service. Went on a Saturday with ~ 15 people. Our wait service gentleman patiently answered our questions, got all specific requests out perfectly and was very willing to provide separate checks. KS Clayton a bit more upscale than typical diner. But prices are reasonable and ambience pleasant and conducive to conversation. A great asset to our Clayton breakfast choices and my new fave! . read more

Ordered food to go on 01/06/2026 and I asked the woman at the counter if I could have a coffee while I wait. She instead of acknowledging me and what I said directly to her face turned and walked away and began refilling beverages at the tables. She did not return to the counter and never acknowledged my presence again. This was not only unprofessional but incredibly disrespectful. My husband and I have been here before and it was decent, so we recommended it to our family visiting from out of town. We even had two Hollywood stars with us, and recommending this place turned out to be the WORST mistake. I was beyond embarrassed. The service was absolutely terrible. Some of our food never came out at all, and the food that did arrive wasn't even hot. On top of that, we didn't receive any utensils. It took forever just to get utensils, and even longer to get syrup. I called three hours ahead of time to confirm they could accommodate a large party, and they assured me it wouldn't be a problem. We showed up ready to enjoy good food and spend our money, but that was far from what we experienced. The sausage was so hard that if you threw it across the room, it would probably shatter. Our waitress was laughing at the issues we were dealing with and acted like she had no real interest in helping or resolving anything. To be fair, the manager was very kind. He listened to our concerns and genuinely tried to make things right, but unfortunately the damage was already done. Great ambiance though. read more

I'm really surprised that this place gets so many rave reviews. We went here for brunch and were entirely underwhelmed. After getting to our table it took forever for the server to come and take our drink order. After bringing our drinks it took forever again for her to come back and get our food order. The service in general was not great, but frankly I felt bad for our server. When we looked around it appeared as though she was the only server in the entire diner, plus there was a group in a private room that she was serving too. We all felt bad for her. I had been looking forward to the breakfast burrito, but when it arrived I was disappointed because it was super bland. It didn't seem like they had seasoned anything inside it, and I don't know that there was the pepper jack cheese inside as advertised. I dont know how to describe it, but everything was so unseasoned and bland. Everyone at the table felt the same way about their food. I wouldn't be back here if I was in town again. read more

Went for breakfast with my sister. Upon entry, it was seat yourself so there were plenty of opportunities to sit. The waiter was very helpful with questions and I eventually was able to order a skillet and a pancake with a latte. The latte was a vanilla latte and it was a good standard latte. The skillet had plenty of meat (bacon, sausage and ham) and the egg on top was scrambled. It was a good meal. The pancake was good as well. I'll def come back. read more

Service is contradictory... so I tried this place out of a whim and fell in love with the "damn delicious". So much so that I've been here five times in the last two weeks...well, weirdly enough 2/5 times I have received military discount. The other 3/5 I've been told they don't offer military discount... I always add my discount and then some as a tip. Well, this one visit the "supposed manager" gave me a bit of an attitude, so obviously I didn't give her a tip. A side of hash browns rounded out an already hearty meal. Chicken & Waffles are a breakfast staple and this plate did not disappoint. The waffles are super crispy (I need to figure out their secret). And the chicken tenders are well seasoned and juicy. The maple syrup sets the entire plate off! The plate also comes with a side of eggs. To Bee or not not to Bee a beautiful French toast with fruit and a drizzle of honey. A beautiful meal. Corn+beef+hash is an epic skillet meal. Corn and beef and hash browns with eggs and toast. Such a great start to the morning for me. The menu have a wide variety of choices for breakfast when I went. This place was busy even in the early morning. Tried a new brunch place in the Saint Louis suburb of Clayton on a Sunday morning. There are two locations that are approximately 1.5 mile apart. Parking is off street or nearby parking garage. I elected for off street and the area was clean. I will note for whatever reason GPS gets confused finding the address. It's in an office building with restaurant on first floor. The restaurant is good size with a bar counter. Windows are along an entire side, so it bright and has a modern feel. Everything felt spic and span clean! My party arrived at approximately 9 AM to put the name down for 930 arrival. We were offered a private room. When everyone arrived shortly before 930 we were quickly greeted by the hostess and led to our room. Our waitress arrived within a few minutes and set up water crafts, coffee and napkins. In short time our hungry party put in orders. I believe everyone got something different. My order Country Fried steak with gravy, two eggs over easy with potatoes and toast. I really enjoyed. Approximately 20 minutes later food was on the table and timing was correct for everyone at the same time. My dish was very good. The coffee was excellent! Everyone else also really enjoyed. Service my our single female waitress was outstanding with follow up on food, refills on water and coffee. Price for the amount and quality about right. I think a 4.5 best suits them. There was no service errors. Our timing of being seated and food arrival was above average. The food taste was above average although not what I would call 5 star. Locating the diner was annoying, but not their fault. I will return next visit. read more

I was seated, waited awhile, was given a water and menu- then they walked away and didn't come back till they seated another customer near me who was given water, a bottle of water, a menu and was offered a cinnamon roll. I felt like such an after thought! I had the avocado toast- says it has balsamic and goat cheese, but I hardly saw any. For "toast" it was cold and hardly toasted at all. Eggs were done well. A very average diner in downtown Clayton. Food was good, but nothing to write home about. I appreciated the attempt to make the diner feel chess-themed, and there were some cool pictures on the wall and small touches like a chess board you could play at by the front door. But overall it just felt like a regular restaurant with a bunch of TV's for you to watch the news at while you're eating. Service was also pretty average--no complaints but nothing stellar. I want to give Kingside Diner a better rating but the portion size for the money really bummed me out. I will give it another try as I only ordered carry out, the interior is "classic diner chic" and the bartender was very friendly (and was making a mimosa flight which looked pretty good). I ordered a kale salad with chicken which was $17 and when I got it home it was dismal - basically was a box of kale leaves with a sprinkling of pepitas and probably 8 tiny bites of chicken. Definitely not $6 worth of chicken! If they're going to charge this much for a salad and extra protein they need to amp up the size and all of the extras or price it like the side salad portion that it is. read more

Great location in Clayton and keeps a steady stream of business on the weekend, prepare for a 30 to 40 minute wait. I typically go for a Breakfast Burrito and Hashbrowns as it's pretty filling. The least enjoyable meal I've tried was the Flatbread, hard pass. read more

I went to this Kingside in Clayton for the first time. It was a Sunday at 10 am and it wasn't that busy which really surprised me - they said there was an event at the park across the street that was taking a lot of parking. When we left there was a wait. It is a bit challenging to find where you enter since the address is on Bonhomme but the actual entrance is off Brentwood. The service was a bit slow even though there wasn't that many people there but the server was very nice. I ordered a bacon omelet but by the time I tasted a couple bites, I realized it was the wrong type of omelet. I decided not to say anything since my dining companion was heading to catch a flight. The omelet was bland tasting - I prefer many other places including IHOPs. I also order a muffin but got a biscuit - the biscuit was good. I got a large orange juice and it was good. Overall if someone needed a decent place to go for breakfast in Clayton, this might be okay but I think there are much better breakfast places around. read more

Kingside Diner is not your typical diner. It is an upscale diner, that serves delicious comfort food for both breakfast and lunch on the edge of downtown Clayton. It has a full service bar and they make one killer Spicy Bloody Mary that is always a go to for me. On my first visit I intended to order their, Slinger after seeing chef Eric preparing on TV. Come on, The Slinger is a St Louis classic breakfast, why wouldn't I give it a try? Then as I sat at the bar, I saw the pictures posted of their Damn Delicious and thought I'd give it a try. The server also shared with me that the DD was chef Eric's favorite. As I got ready to order, my attention went in another direction. I saw another picture posted here on Yelp of the Veggie Hash. I love Brussels Sprouts, so I was sold. I enjoyed a full plate of fresh, crisp sprouts covered with two eggs over easy. Delicious! I couldn't be totally healthy, I had to add a side of bacon and Hash Browns. My next visit I choose, Damn Delicious. The DD is very filling, it is a lot of food. They take two scrambled eggs with bacon and put it between a sliced croissant. They then smother that with sausage gravy, shredded cheddar and chives. If that isn't enough, it is served with a side of Hash Browns. I was so stuffed, I skipped lunch that day. I'll share a little secret with you, I prefer the Clayton location over the CWE. The service here is more personal and friendly. Veronica is a delight, excellent server. I also think the food is prepared and presented better. Always the best brunch - and make sure that you go during the happy hour and get a Bloody Mary! They have a variety of tasty choices and my vegetarian heart loves the roasted veggie hash thing, name I can't remember because I am in pure Brussel sprouts bliss!
