I usually visit the First Watch restaurant in Alexandria, where the service is always professional and impeccable. This was my first time visiting the First Watch location in Waldorf, and while the staff were very friendly, my experience left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, the server assigned to my table seemed distracted and did not pay close attention to the details of my order. I specifically requested that no salt be added to my dish due to health concerns. Although she acknowledged the request, my meal arrived with salted eggs and avocado toast. The avocado toast itself was disappointing--it was overly oily, the avocado was lumpy, and the presentation was unappetizing. In fact, it looked inedible. My appetite was gone after seeing the dish. On the other hand, my grandson enjoyed his Belgian waffle with bacon and had no complaints. After informing the server about the salt, she took my plate back and said the kitchen would prepare a new one. Unfortunately, when she returned, the eggs had a strange smell, and the avocado toast still looked just as unappealing. I didn't eat any of it. I politely raised my concerns with the manager, who offered to place a new order. I declined. She was understanding and only charged me for my grandson's meal, which was $16. I still left a $10 tip for the waitress because she was polite, even though the service missed the mark. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning to the Waldorf location during future visits to see my grandkids. Ignoring dietary restrictions--especially something as serious as a no-salt request--can have serious health consequences. Worst Experience Ever at First Watch Waldorf -- What Happened?! We've been loyal customers of this First Watch since the day it opened. We know the staff, the menu, and we've always had great experiences -- until now. This recent visit was beyond disappointing; it was flat-out horrible. Ever since the new manager with tattoos took over (not sure of his name), this place has gone completely downhill. He didn't bother to come over once, didn't communicate any issues or substitutions, and acted like customers don't even matter. We literally ordered the exact same thing just the day before with no problem -- but this time, suddenly, it's an issue? To top it off, we waited over TWO HOURS to be seated even though the waitlist clearly said 30 minutes. Once we finally sat down, our food took another 30+ minutes to arrive, and when it did, it was stone cold. Honestly, it felt like the kitchen forgot about us. This visit was a complete disaster from start to finish. What used to be one of our favorite breakfast spots has turned into one of the most frustrating dining experiences we've ever had. It's sad to see how badly things have changed under this new management. read more

I keep coming back because the food is great--but the service continues to let me down. When the restaurant first opened, they served my husband coffee in a cup with lipstick stains on it. Another time, I came with friends for breakfast. We were all on deadlines, and instead of being able to pay and leave quickly, the staff messed up our bill twice. None of us could check out until they fixed the entire check. My husband gave them another chance recently, but after sitting at our table for 10 minutes with no one acknowledging us, we simply walked out. I made reservations for my family an hour in advance and we walked into the building at about 67 minutes from when I made the reservation. I was happy to check in and then a minute later we were seated. at our table. It is always good to make a reservation and then show up around the time the expected wait is, just for future. remember, time flies. After we were seated our waitress was courteous at first, but that was about the last time. When she came back wit our drinks, she basically dropped off the drinks as if we annoyed her. She basically tossed the straws for our drinks and being a fairly silent reviewer, I tried to keep my cool. Because you did that to my wife and 4 year old daughter. Don't get me wrong the place had the right color scheme, it didn't seem as if it was doing too much. The small bar on the front side of the restaurant with another room that seemed like a small lounge. I ordered a Works omelette my wife ordered the shrimp and grits with a purple haze drink, and my daughter got the chocolate chip pancake with 2 sausage links. My Works omelet was only impressive aesthetically, it lacked flavor in every aspect of the phrase. Not even a pinch of salt went into this. The wheat was to toasted to the Sahara. I was not impressed with the meal to be honest, but Im on Wegovy and I had to eat or suffer the consequences fatigue for the day. My wife's shrimp and grits were saltless and without any kind of butter, the shrimp was also without any flavor to it, I believe the purple haze was the only good thing there on her side. My daughter had the chocolate chip pancakes and she like it a bit, but she didn't even bother eating less then half of it. I wills ay when I tried her pancakes for myself, the chocolate chip were the only things that made the pancakes taste good. During the whole meal there our waitress checked up on us but acted as if we were annoying her. For this whole experience, I have to give it 1 star. Even tipped her well just because we felt like being decent people. This was not worth the wait at all, you're better off cooking at home. This was not an enjoyable bite. read more

Extremely Disappointed Experience at First Watch Waldorf We are customers who have been coming to this First Watch location since it first opened and are very familiar with both the staff and the menu. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was extremely disappointing. Since the arrival of the new manager (the one with tattoos, not sure of his name), the experience has noticeably gone downhill. He never came over to the table to communicate any updates or limitations with the menu -- even though we ordered the exact same items just a day prior without any issue. As a result, we couldn't even order what we truly enjoy. To make matters worse, after waiting over two hours to be seated (despite being told the wait would only be around 30 minutes), our food took another 30+ minutes to arrive and was served cold. We've always loved coming here, but this visit left a terrible impression. It's sad to see such a decline in service and management at a place we used to look forward to visiting. read more

Once we had made our order, we had to speak to the manager after waiting over thirty-five minutes and seeing other customers who came in after us receive their food. No explanation was given. The service was horrible. No apology or anything. We were ignored after asking for the status. I had to prompt them to check on me. No refills, not even offered a water. The customer service was horrible! We checked in and they told us that it was a 90 minute wait and we provided my wife's phone number. We waited 105 minutes. I went to the front to ask how my husband longer. The lady said you need to wait at least closer to the 207 minute wait time... it was ridiculous! I told her that when we checked it at 8:59 am you told us 90 minutes. She replied well the kitchen is back up so it changed to a 207 minute wait. We ended up leaving with no food and we had all been hungry and my wife was pissed. I had to deal with that... at 12:09 pm my wife received a text saying we were next to be seated... I have to the text!! We had already made it home and my wife had ended up cooking a full breakfast, we had already eaten and had been continuing our day. It is absolutely horrific that the restaurant has customers waiting for so long. Before we left, a family had said they had been waiting since 8:30 am... Please address this issue with the waldorf store! They need more training store wide from the kitchen to the hostess. If there was a minus rating this place would get it based on this experience!!! read more

I I wanted to share feedback about my recent takeout experience. I placed an order and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. I returned a few minutes early and checked in with the host, asking if I needed to notify anyone that I was there. The host assured me the food would be brought up when ready. However, I ended up waiting over 20 additional minutes. When I finally asked a manager to check, they went to the back and immediately came out with my order. Unfortunately, when I got to my car and checked the food, everything was cold--clearly it had been sitting for some time. I'm disappointed that my order was ready and no one brought it out or informed me, especially after I specifically checked in. A friend treated me to breakfast here for my birthday recently and I must say that the ambiance was amazing! I had the traditional breakfast with two fried eggs, the ham, toast and fried potatoes with the million dollar sauce. My first First Watch experience was glorious at the Tyson's Corner location. However and unfortunately the southern Maryland location is not the same. Upon entry we were not acknowledged and greeted with a stone faced person. Asked to be seated by a window but that seemed to create an entire mess. Our waitress had major RBF. She was stressed and sweating at 8am on a Sunday morning. She did not greet us with her name or never cracked a smile while we placed our order. She sadly seemed heavily agitated as she later expressed that under her voice. She later apologized after seeing my countenance and said she was acting in several positions. While I was understanding, I grind and beared it until.....The food: the potatoes were under seasoned and had a slightly burned flavor. My husband had to send his waffle back as it was barely warm. As another sweet couple were finishing up, they walked over to our table and said put on your patience because you're going to need it. Wow! I blame management. Our waitress had some guy who was sitting down when we first arrived and seemed like a manager on her back and in her ear. He never lifted a finger to lighten her load. She was obviously overwhelmed, mind you the restaurant wasn't even busy at this time. I chalked her attitude up to whomever this guy was walking around the restaurant like a warden. But she did manage to laugh and chat up some of her "older customers" who appeared to maybe come more regularly and they looked like the kind of people who would call corporate if you catch my drift. Anyways, I love the decor and setting of this place. It's a fairly new location to the area and seemed to be very clean and bright. However good management is key. Not one staff member was smiling. When this place first opened the food and service wasn't bad so not sure what happened. Went today after 3 months and the service was horrible. I ordered a omelette with veggies and cheese and can you believe it was just a egg folded with veggies and no cheese. I sent it back and while I waited my pancake got cold and when I told the manager he just shrugged it off and walked away. What kind of manager just walks away without atleast apologizing. My wife ordered eggs with extra cheese and the waitress stated she tried to save us money so she never told them extra cheese WTF.... Nobody asked her to save us anything we had no issues paying for anything especially if we paid for the meal as horrible as the service was. Now's here what I didn't like today . the restaurant had several empty tables and I was told there would be a 45 minute wait I live in Virginia so I wasn't about to turn around and go home so I waited. Just didn't understand why there was a wait with over 15 empty tables I counted also on top of that I had to wait over a half an hour for the food to arrive at my table. I'm not gonna gripe to much but someone at the door I was conversating with ordered three biscuits and gravy to go only to go home and find out there was no gravy on there biscuits and had to turn around and come back . I eat here regularly so again if it wasn't for the excellent service I was provided by destiny and Lauren I would give a one star review. If u eat here tip the waitresses or waiter well and if your food takes 40 min to come to your table blame the kitchen and speak to a manager they will make it right some how. The ambiance today was hectic and a lot of unhappy people at the door either about there wait times or wait at the table for the food. I heard one person say I guess they blew up to fast. My suggestion would be to make sure you are properly staffed to handle the business this location may or may not get on any given day. Took 15 mins to get a server to our table after being sat to just get water. The menu was scarce. Drinks were alright I guess but it was the only thing it had going for itself. I have no clue why people were waiting 3-4 hours when this place first opened. You're not missing anything.
