Went to breakfast this morning with my co-worker which was super fun!!! Restaurant wasn't busy and the host already had the menu and silverware in hand ready to seat us as we walked in! I was a little disappointed that they didn't have Splenda because I really don't like Stevia at all but, it was ok. I have to say that this was probably the first place ever to cook my over medium eggs correctly. Is bread really "toast" though if the butter isn't melting? The flavor of the bread itself was delish but it wasn't toasted at all or warm. The potatoes were slightly undercooked and not hot at all. The bacon was good but again, lukewarm warm. Our server was nice, the feel of the restaurant was cozy. We didn't feel rushed by our server and she was super nice. I will give this place another shot but today it was just "ok". read more

Hubby & I stopped in for brunch as it was the last day for their Fall menu. We got in line (online) when we were 5 minutes away. Upon arrival, we only waited 5 minutes to be seated. I had a BOGO email coupon due to my birthday (a few weeks ago). I ordered a Morning Meditation & a Million Dollar breakfast sandwich which came with fresh fruit. I was going to order the Salted Caramel donuts but they were out. Hubby got the Traditional breakfast with sausage links & a large orange juice. Our meals came out in less than 6 minutes. I demolished that breakfast sandwich - it was so good! The hot honey on the sandwich was a nice touch. Hubby really enjoyed his traditional breakfast & cleaned his plate. The most amazing breakfast place! We went back the next day since we were visiting Cinncinnati for a short while. my sister and I shared the BLT eggs Benedict and the Floridian French toast the first day and everything was spectacular. The eggs were perfectly cooked and runny, the French toasted had great flavor and fresh fruit. The second day we shared the biscuits and graby and the holiday double decker taco special. The breakfast taco was perfectly seasoned and well balanced with the Avocado and salsa and had a nice crunch from the tostada shells. Overall will be back to this place again someday! read more

Everyone who worked there was lovely. However, the meal just didn't hit the mark. We had the cornbread starter which came with honey butter on it. The cornbread was really sweet and VERY dry. It looks like it was cooked in its own little round cast iron skillet. It was clear that it had been baked one or two days before - it wasn't even warm. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes which came with a lemon curd and "seasonal fresh fruit". The lemon curd was unceremoniously plopped on top - it would have been better spread in between bc trying to spread it about made the pancake crumble. The pancakes were very dry, which was surprising bc I could see the ricotta! I couldn't cut a bite bc they were falling apart. The berries were strawberries that were sliced and sitting in their own juice overnight, also unceremoniously plopped on top. Considering what I paid it was underwhelming, which is too bad. read more

Pancakes....Pancakes....Pancakes.......After about the third time, I'm on my way to First Watch! Let's start with the, well...Pancakes. It's not your average Joe "stack of pancakes". It's one, and that's all you need. There is something about their pancakes, maybe an addictive narcotic, that makes you crave them once you've had one. These light multi-grain masterpieces are soft, fluffy and delicious. Everything you'd ever want in edible comfort. But wait, there's more! Between your order and your food service, they drop off that beautiful glass bottle of amber gold that they call Maple Syrup. Then, when that golden disc of delicious arrives at your table with a dollop of butter, it's go time. Spread that butter around and drizzle the Maple gold all over. Keep that bottle close because you may need more. It sounds excessive, but it's not. The pancake actually absorbs the syrup beautifully. And, the syrup isn't that cheap gooey garbage. It's sweet and has a perfect consistency to not gum up the works. Now you take those bites.....Me, I like to fork-cut squares about the size of my tongue. I place the bit on my tongue and literally let this beautiful mix of flavor and texture dissolve on my tongue. No chewing required (but because I don't want to be responsible for people choking, please refrain from chewing at your own risk). One might say "perfect for those without teeth!" And they have other stuff, but I don't want you to forget about the pancakes. I'm a one-trick pony when it comes to restaurants that have something I fall in love with. First Watch is one of those places for me. I never look at the menu as my order is always the same. - One Pancake - Side of Potatoes - Side of Bacon - Large Orange Juice - Black Coffee One might say, "but doesn't that get boring, getting the same thing every time?" And to that I say, "shut up and try that pancake, Jerry!". The potatoes are usually cooked beautifully. Well seasoned with small caramelized onions. Orange Juice, always fresh nectar of the Gods. Bacon...let's just say these Porky's and Petunia's did not die in vain. They died for my breakfast. Lastly, they give you your own pot of coffee to enjoy so drink up, Johnny! Others I've dined with, and others in the restaurant, foolishly look at the menu and make other choices. Although silly to me, I guess that's their problem. But I can say that they have an incredible menu with something for everyone. They also always have special dishes that change up quite frequently. So they keep in fresh and interesting, if that's your thing, I guess. Don't forget about the pancakes though. They're really good. Please see my love letter to First Watch pancakes above. It's a bit racy in some places but I can't help it that First Watch went out and decided to make pancakes sexy. It's not my fault but it sure is my weakness. Would I go back? Ugh.... I fight the urge to stay out of there, to be honest. My order is not the healthiest option (so my Doctor tells me) so I try to pace my visits out. But yes. Yes, I go back as often as those demons of breakfast fight through my best intentions. Keep in mind, First Watch is usually open in the morning and just after lunch. They're not an all day restaurant. They also get quite crowded so, call ahead or plan your day better. I'm literally writing this at night because I know the only way I could get a First Watch pancake right now would result in felony breaking and entering charges. read more

Based on service alone, First Watch was a 5 star experience. Staff are friendly and chipper, better service than most restaurants nowadays. But, there are very few options if you are watching calories and gluten intake. Pros: Service Website: makes it easy to figure out what you may want to customize, in regards to nutritional information. Cons: Drink Choices: Why only iced coffee drinks? If you want a latte, cappuccino, or anything more than a plain hot coffee, this isn't your place. Feels like a missed opportunity, a hole in their offerings. Prices: Greek yogurt, berries, and tea cost me about $12-14. That seems ridiculous. Did not feel like good value for the money. Tips: Their suggestions start at 20%! For breakfast/brunch, Sleepy Bee and Cosy's are better options. read more

We were seated fast just before the brunch rush hours. The waitress was kind and polite. She helped my kids pick out their items and accommodated their needs. The food was great, though my order got mixed up and I got bacon instead of links but I didn't mind. The eggs were good, made just how I like them. The environment was friendly and the table was in a nice spot. Big shout out to the staff for helping out my autistic daughter when she unfortunately threw up (not food related). They were quick to help, got her water, made sure she was ok and comfortable. Clean up was fast and safe. True committed staff to helping out the customers. First Watch is always a solid brunch place whenever I'm in the area. I come to this location with my son when we're in town visiting family. I usually get the Chickichanga as my go to meal, but today I tried the Breakfast sandwich and it was delicious! The smash avocado, runny egg and brioche were a great combo along with a side of seasoned potatoes. My son gets the works omelette and loves the potatoes also. We stopped here on our way home from Cinci because we love First watch restaurants. This one was no exception, it's great. I had the Morning market veggie omelette. A nice mix of sautéed veggies and mushroom omelette served with toast and a mix greens salad. Nice! My SO had an elevated egg. I always see picturea of friends dining here, and as a lover of brunch I had to try it. I remembered pictures of the mesmerizingly big pancakes, so I got the Trifecta which was a pancake, eggs, and meat (I chose chicken sausage). My mom got the french toast, and my dad the Parma Skillet. All of the dishes looked great and came out fast, but that's about where the positives end. My eggs were pretty tasteless, even after I added salt and pepper. The pancake lacked a sweetness that I normally expected, and thus also tasted pretty plain, even with my addition of blueberries. I tried the French Toast, and again no flavor (normally would expect seet hints of cinnamon). The water was also served in a jug for the table, and ice was not given, which is another bother of mine. Our server also seemed to be rushing us, despite being early in the morning and plenty of open tables around. Anytime she saw a single piece of trash on our table, she would come by and pick it up immediately. The second my dad finished his dish, she zipped by to pick up the plate. While some may appreciate the efficiency, we were looking to have a relaxing Sunday morning meal together, and instead left right after finishing to continue our morning elsewhere. read more

Great quick brunch with a friend here on a Saturday. My friend was able to add our name to the waitlist online, which is a cool feature. We were seated promptly and our waiter was attentive. Ordered the Kale Tonic ("green juice"), which was very refreshing. The huevos rancheros tostadas were delicious, and hit the spot, good combination of pickled onions, chorizo, avocado, sauce and crisp. My friend got the avocado toast and seemed to enjoy it. My server was running like crazy to seat people, take initial drink orders, food orders and then check people out. All while 2 other servers watched. I guess they take care of their tables only. Disappointing. Last, I ordered eggs Benedict. Eggs over cooked. My server was so busy my food went cold before I could ask for my eggs to be redone. And frankly, stared down the other servers hoping they may stop by to find out what was going on. My suggestion to this server. While it was during lunch hour, she forgot the english muffin we ordered and brought it nearly by the time we finished as well as forgot the lime I asked for. I will say that this menu was legible while the previous menu at the Hyde Park location was not. I ordered the Elevated Egg Sandwich. It was good, but I definitely do not think it was worth the price. Again, as I said in my last review of First Watch, it's good and has a cool atmosphere, but not worth the price and doesn't impress. Consistently solid breakfast/brunch. This review is covers three seasonal items I had on this visit - Açaí Bowl, Million Dollar Bacon, and the SoCal Breakfast Burrito. The Açaí Bowl included organic Acai topped with strawberries, bananas, kiwi, blueberries and FW's delicious housemade granola. Just to make sure we didn't go away hungry they also threw in a Served piece of whole grain artisan toast topped with almond butter and sea salt. The only minor issue with this dish was that the Acai hadn't really been "elevated" - you know if was just previously frozen with great toppings. We were on the fence about ordering the Million Dollar Bacon (see photo) but we're glad we did. The four crispy pieces of bacon were well worth $5. They're oven baked with brown sugar, ground black pepper, just the right amount of cayenne pepper, and drizzled with maple syrup. Remember no fighting over the last piece, you're in a restaurant! My primary meal was the SoCal Breakfast Burrito (see photo), and let me tell you - it was soooo SoCal. It contained fluffy egg whites, chicken breast, quinoa, black beans, kale, roasted onions, three different cheeses (feta, cheddar, and Monterey jack), avocado, and a pico de gallo wrapped in a grain tortilla. On the side was ramekin of warm salsa verde (tomatillo sauce) - nice touch on heating up the salsa. Lastly there was a cup of fresh ripe fruit. All told this dish had all the right ingredients and made for a hearty breakfast. The host who was not friendly, lied to us about not seeing us sitting right next to her and seating multiple tables ahead of us after telling us we were next. You can't go wrong with First Watch. I love the Indy locations and was excited to see a First Watch right around the corner from IKEA. This location feels more spacious than the others I have been in, and I like the brighter, country/farm decor. I changed it up and ordered the market hash: two eggs (I chose scrambled) atop seasoned potatoes with the best crimini mushrooms I've ever eaten (no joke), zucchini, onions, red peppers, spinach, mozzarella, and herbed goat cheese, served with buttered toast (two slices) and fruit. It fueled me up for my IKEA shopping! Great, friendly service - only note is I felt our waitress was a bit too forthcoming with free iced tea refills, bringing us an entire new glass when we had consumed only about half of our first glass. Good spot for clean eating when you just cant find the motivation to cook breakfast at home. Coffee is brewed fresh and served with plenty of international delight flavored creamer options. Regular half/half is available as well but I typically find myself asking for it to be stocked at the table. This location can get busy at times, but now there is an online wait list. Pancakes, Waffles, Toast and pressed juice options are all above what most would make at home.
