This place has the worst service of any restaurant ever. They don't listen, aren't attentive, and leave you sitting for 20-30 mins at a time without walking around to see if anyone needs anything. This is my 5th time here and every experience has been the same, needing to get the manager involved because the entire wait staff is chatting in the back and not doing their job. I made a yelp account to tell people not to come to this horrible establishment - really hope they close down. Everyone on their staff is incompetent and stuck up and it seems as if no one who works or manages here was ever in the hospitality industry and they found random people off the street to wait tables and forgot to train them. Seriously I wanted to give them one last chance today and the restaurant is practically empty, but still experiencing the same as before. Decided to stop here for lunch. Worst service. We arrived and the older lady with the short hair was helping someone and another employee flagged us down since it was only two of us. We followed the other lady and as we were walking by the older lady says "Where do you think your going?" I told her " your co worker is helping us." We sat down at the table. The service was slow. Took the waitress about 15 minutes to take our order. The food was decent. Once we received our check we were told to pay at the cashier up front. I walked up there and there were 3 of us in line to pay. A gentleman comes over and asks us to move the line. About 5 minutes go by the older lady with the short hair comes to the cash register to help us. Then a customer cuts in front of the whole line after waiting 5-10 minutes now. I say to the lady checking everyone out. "Excuse me, there was a line to check out." The lady says " I didn't know there was a line." I said "the gentleman serving us told us to move the line." Then the lady said to me "What's the big deal? It's only one person!" So I finally pay and get out. But my point is the big deal is I was waiting for 5-10 minutes to check out while your running around seating people and cashing people out. read more

Got a recommendation for this place from a friend and was really excited to try out a new healthy spot for breakfast. I ordered my breakfast to go because I needed to get back to work - avocado toast and coffee. I had to wait longer than I would have liked just for someone to remember my coffee, but the service other than that was fine. I definitely overpaid for the quality of my order. Coffee that totaled at over $2.50 had grounds in it, and they didn't even have real milk or half and half at the counter for your coffee. Just little creamer packets. Coffee at that price *needs* to at least have all the appropriate amenities offered. The mashed avocados on top of the toast were a bit brown on top which I was turned off by, and I had to take a knife to the top of it to get to the green. Not so appetizing. About 3 bites into my meal I came across a little brown thing that I freaked out about at first - nobody likes to see any unexpected brown substances in their meals. Took a closer look and it was a chocolate chip mixed in with the avocado? No thank you. How in the world does that even make its way into the breakfast prep area? I spent the rest of my meal hoping I wouldn't run into any more unwelcome surprises. I'd go back if I ordered something else, and would actually sit down in hopes that the service would outweigh the disenchanting food. read more

First visit and I wanted to love this place upon walking in, inviting space and a great menu on paper. Sadly I left frustrated with the same poor experience as the theme of the majority of the negative reviews over the last two years: terrible seating and serving wait times. What does it take for management to fix this recurring problem? Arrival: 11:40am Estimated wait: 30-40 minutes Seated: 12:30pm (50 minute wait) Food ordered: 12:35pm First set of meals to table: 1:18pm (43 minute wait) Second set of meals to table: 1:21pm It was Father's Day so it was understandably busy and we were a party of 6 (4 adults, 1 child, and 1 infant), so I expected to there to be a wait to be seated. However, once seated, most would expect their meals, at non fine dining, within 20 minutes of ordering. This timing is especially critical with younger and hungry kids. 43 minutes for our food and I couldn't help but notice this was a problem at every table across the restaurant. My wife noted that the woman ahead of her to pay the bill left no tip because of the same issue with time. Our server was cheery and trying her best under what she knew were unacceptable food serving wait times. She brought complimentary bread for our son. It wasn't her fault on serving time though. It's a back of house/kitchen issue, probably understaffed on cooks. Any restaurant should be able to accommodate reasonable serving time for the seating occupancy through appropriate staffing even during high traffic periods, but especially on anticipated high volume days like Father's Day or Mother's Day. As a result of how backed up the kitchen was, it was apparent the meal production was rushed. My Eggs Benedict were inconsistent, one egg runny and one egg yolk dry. Unfortunately our entire table's review of the food was "ok". The coffee also wasn't anything special, meh. This place has so much potential, inviting space and a great menu on paper. We have eaten here several times, always at breakfast. The food is good, lots of interesting choices, good size portions. The wait staff is great and the food came out in a timely manner. Okay, so my first First Watch visit was a couple of years ago in Tampa and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Went with a friend who is very health conscious, so knowing he'd eat there gave it a stamp of approval at least on the ingredients. My wife and I also visited one last month in Tampa when we were down for a wedding. Same great, consistent food, service was fine. Very happy to learn that a First Watch has been in the Philadelphia suburbs for more than a year now, with more locations opening soon. I don't get out of the city much, so haven't been before, but we had an occasion to stop by the Wynnewood location on Saturday. Maybe it was the rain or the mid-August date, but it was not too crowded and we found parking, no problem, and were seated right away. Ordered the Power Wrap, which was very good and my wife got the ricotta pancakes, which were pretty terrific, but a little sweet for me. Also had one of the juice drinks made with numeric...delicious, refreshing and, apparently, good for you too. The highlight of the meal was our server Rosie, who was exceptionally nice, friendly and attentive. I realized that since the place has been open about a year, management of the restaurant made a conscious and, in my opinion, laudable decision to hire Rosie, who, although youthful in demeanor, might have been passed over by other employers who wanted a younger look. That kind of corporate attitude engenders a ton of loyalty in my book. Hope these guys get whatever service issues they have worked out, because everything else, including corporate culture, is a winner from my experience. read more

Service was awful. The server checked on my party once, when the food initially came out. It took 40 minutes for food to come out and when it did it wasn't worth. Steak and eggs was very greasy and only had 4 pieces of steak in the whole plate. Also cups on the table were extremely greasy and dirty, didn't even want to drink any water. Hit up First Watch for lunch with my 3 kids. It was just okay. Vegetables in my meal (The Triathlete) tasted like they were from a can and not fresh. 5/31/22 we went there as a party of 12. They divided us in to 2 groups which was fine except they sat us back to back. We asked to move to the booth across from our party because it was empty. They took all of 45 minutes to do so. The waiter was HORRIBLE! He was so rude to us although we were the paying table. Now of course he didn't know. I tho of complimenting his nails make up and lashes but didn't. (Maybe I should've.) He kept making sarcastic comments and being rude to us but polite to the non paying table. We usually tip BIG! With 5 adults, 7children (2 children under the age 2) our bill came up to about $300. No problem we were planning on giving a $100 tip just because that's how we tip. When he put the bill on the non paying table I told him our table was paying he was a deer in headlights! He started being super nice and polite. Unfortunately it was too late. We were disgusted. Our food came out anout 20 minutes after theirs even though we ordered first! It was a disaster! The one in South Philly can run circles around this one. He was so mean and rude. my wine glass had lipstick on it and all. food was basic! We remained polite and tried to ignore his attitude. I already knew we would get the last laugh! The first time it happened, I made a comment to my fiancé and shrugged. The second time it happened, I told my sister (who I was with) about the first incident and mentioned during my Monday morning "how was your weekend?" conversation with co-workers, only to find out that one had a similar experience at THE SAME location, with THE SAME individual (she too shrugged it off). Today, the third time it happened, it pissed me off too much because I had my senior mom with me and I decided to leave because of it. For some reason, STAN (one of the MANAGERS, older Caucasian man who is balding) must have "an issue" with African Americans (I can't claim he is rude to ALL people of color, because I'm African American, as is my co-worker). On ALL THREE of my occurrences with him, he has been dismissive and downright rude, taking other, NON-AFRICAN AMERICAN customers who are either trying to check in OR pay before me. Because of the set-up of the restaurant, you check-in to get a seat and pay at the same register area in the front of the restaurant. That layout makes it a bit confusing, but not horrible. Additionally, this ONLY HAPPENS when Stan is there - there is another woman manager with dark hair, and she and the other staff (waiters or hosts) are super friendly and do things the right way. I'm not a super sensitive person, however he is just downright horrible and behaves like a RACIST. For this, I will no longer go to that First Watch - I will trek to the one in Villanova once it opens. I hope the general manager or owner does something about this soon because clearly, I'm not the only one. read more

The food was very basic, I had the Trifecta version of Waffle, bacon and fried egg. The waffle was very soft, almost mushy. I like waffles to be a little crisper than what was presented...and it came with a strawberry topping that covered a 1/4 of the waffle, I had to supplement with the syrup. Bacon was bone dry - not actually bacon from what I could tell. Eggs were eggs, not much else to say. One daughter had pumpkin pancakes which were also very soft, very strange texture even for pumpkin pancakes. Wife's breakfast sandwich was the only thing worth tasting but that's not saying much. Service was poor. Once we were seated and ordered, we never really saw the waitress much. When the food came out we had to tell the servers that we hadn't received the 2 chocolate milks our kids had ordered. I also ordered the "maple" syrup extra but it never came. Wife ordered milk for coffee, never came...a lot of people standing around in the kitchen in plain site...makes sense since the general vibe in that place is that no one cares...Cashier was cold, just like a chain is expected to be. Where do I begin with this place. Service was terrible. The hostess didn't know how to check who was next to be seated based on group size. She bypassed me and my friend and seated bigger group sizes and when we asked why people who came later than us were seated she said she only had seating for two available and since we had three we had to wait.... there were two of us. So once we told her that and told her to look she immediately seated us after giving us some lame excuses. Then our waiter was rude. Didn't say hi. Didn't smile. Just overall unpleasant. Visited this restaurant on a Sunday morning after church. Busy parking lot. Lots of people waiting to be seated. The restaurant was understaffed, only one person bussing tables. Lots of open tables- but no one to clear and reset. When we were seated, took 10-15 minutes for server to acknowledge us and offer water and coffee. Took another 20 minutes before she took our order. People who sat down after us had already been served. My daughter ordered a chocolate chip pancake that was very burned on one side- should not have been served that way. By the time we were able to get the servers attention, I was finished my meal. We declined to have it replaced and she offered to take it off bill. The food here is generally good- but they are clearly understaffed and did not have adequate servers, people bussing tables or people responsible for take out orders. The woman at the register was very pleasant, had a constant smile and greeted everyone with enthusiasm, in spite of what appeared to be a chaotic shift. It does sometimes take a little while to get a table, only because it is so busy, so I recommend getting the iPhone app called NoWait, where you can reserve a table beforehand. I loved everthing about this restaurant (except the parking situation).! I had the pot roast hash..the meat was tender, the gravy was flavorful, and the eggs cooked perfectly. I came here when it first opened on a weekday and it wasn't that busy but I wasn't really greeted and the employees all seemed a little awkward. The interior is cute and set up nicely. I had a quinoa bowl, the kale juice and the coffee. The quinoa bowl with pesto chicken was just okay. The kale juice was good but they put so much ice in the cup that after one sip it was half gone. I was not a fan of the coffee-- it has a sweet fruitiness I didn't like. Overall everything was okay but I was really turned off by the price and employees. After being served my meal, the server dropped off the check even though I had inquired about the freshly baked muffins. I asked her what flavored they had and she said "they're different everyday" and then just waked away. I left my card on the table and was sitting there waiting until finally I went to the front and asked if I was suppose to pay there. No one mentioned I had to pay in the front. The total was $18 for breakfast! With tip, it was closer to $25 which I think is a little ridiculous. Sabrina's across the street has high prices but their portions are way bigger. I've eaten at first watch many times. Food and menu are great. Servers are good also. I regret, though, that I've eaten there for the last time. There is no hostess, therefore seating and assignment of wait staff seems entirely random. You can wait 10-15 minutes for a server, who will promptly apologize and take your order, only to have a second server server come up to take your order again. You have to pay the bill at the front of the restaurant, where there is quite often no one to pay. So you wait again. For a restaurant with such high quality menu and food, you'd think they would spring for the extra expense to hire a hostess/cashier. Frustrating at best. Also, the acoustics are not good so it tends to get very noisy. read more

Just what the neighborhood needed! First Watch has delicious food and a nice atmosphere. I've been here many times and everyone is always happy with their choices. The staff, from the managers to the servers are always welcoming. This time, my server was so excited to tell us about the new specials that we ordered one of each, A crab omelette, a barbecue beef eggs Benedict and a tomato and cheese toast with eggs. This was my second visit. Not impressed by any means. I'm not sure why it's always so busy. They thrive on Farm to Table. Well if you mean they cleared my table you would be correct. Took my Gran Daughter here for breakfast before we went to the movie. We were seated quickly. The Hostess was kind. The server was kind. She took our order quickly and made sure were were satisfied, Until I took her to the restroom. We came back to a cleared table. The server was no where to be found. She informed us that the busser cleared our table, I was so frustrated. Then she gave us new drinks, attempted to make things better but it never got better. My Grand Daughters food arrived, served by a stranger? It was wrong it was supposed to be sausage not bacon. She said nothing and angrily grabbed the plate and rushed off to the kitchen. The person who delivered the food asked me what was wrong. I said we will need silverware as ours was taken away. And syrup, as that was also taken away. She was mean, rude, and seriously lacking in service skills. My food was sub par by all means. Anyone can toss together field greens that are so large that they have to be cut by a knife to accompany a bland crab omelette. I need to know who is cooking in the kitchen because seasoning is needed. I assume the managers because no mangers were present when we were there. While I've never had bad food there, the service is completely hit or miss. I've gotten prompt and friendly service and I've gotten service that's slow and borderline ignoring. I WANT to like it more, but the inconsistent service makes it difficult to go with a kid because you never know if you'll have to wait 25 minutes....can't really do that with a toddler. So we tend to go to Sabrinas more often, even though I prefer the food at FW. PLEASE get the service together. It shouldn't be hard - pay employees better, get a manager in the kitchen, and they should be able to get good staff. Sabrinas has great service and many have been there for years. That should say something. Fingers crossed they eventually addresses this issue. read more
