The last time I came here, my friend and I ordered a smoked salmon eggs benedict and a florentine eggs benedict and it took almost as hour for the food to come out. The restaurant wasn't even full. The hollandaise sauce was especially sour. At first I thought that my salmon had gone bad but when I raised this concern to the waiter he said that one of the chefs is more aggressive with the vinegar in the hollandaise, as if this was a common problem brought to his attention. I stopped in with a friend on a Saturday late morning when other breakfast places in the area were overflowing with late-risers. This was our first time at First Watch and we were able to get a table relatively easily, which was surprising. The first thing that made me happy was my very own pot of coffee, newspaper and free wifi! Nice touch. The menu was amazing with different choices showing the freshest, finest ingredients around. I ordered the Tri-Athlete" - egg white omelet with crimini mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and green chilies which was served multi grain bread and fresh fruit. My friend ordered one of the "Power Bowls". Everything was delicious with large portions. I will definitely be back to try from the lunch selection. The only downside to the visit was the service. Wait staff was good, be prepared for a wait during peak hours (the only drawback was waiting for a waiter) but other than that the menu is well rounded without being overbearing and the prices are great considering how fresh and inventive the food is. Love this place. It's very easy to make an order online. The staff is super helpful, and your mail is usually ready within 15 to 20 minutes. I've been to other first watch locations in the country, but I like this one the best. The breakfast items are very filling and worth the price. My experience at First Watch was far from pleasant. We went the day after Christmas and they were incredibly unprepared for it to be busy. It took our server 15 minutes to get us water and take our order. There are three of us and we ordered soups and salads and it took our food 50 minutes to come out. When I brought it up to the server how long we had been waiting she could not have been more unhelpful. She was rude and blamed it on the fact that it was busy. I am sorry but you are running a restaurant, these are the things you plan for. The food is OK, nothing special. Good food, bad service. Walked in to get breakfast over the weekend. Walking in, I was greeted by the hostess and was told the wait would only be 10 minutes long. After about a forty-five minutes of waiting, I was pretty upset to see customers walk in much later than us and get seated, while we were still waiting for ours. The worst part was our hostess didn't seem to acknowledge us while we were waiting to be seated. She would call and seat customers directly next to us who walked in much later, giving us no update on when we will be seated. I finally went up to her and asked her what was going on. She told us something happened and we didn't get added to the system. She told us we would be seated next, but did not apologize for the inconvenience. After about 50 minutes, we finally are seated. However, it takes a server about 10 minutes after that to come to our table for us to place an order. The food took awhile to come out and the server forgot to bring our drinks. So, we had to flag somebody down so we could get our drinks. We didn't see the server from the time we placed our drink order until we received the check. Not happy with the service here. read more

We have been to both of the local restaurants in the last few months. I usually order the french toast or the biscuits and gravy. Lately both have been bad at both locations. The french toast is dry. It seems that they don't soak the bread in the egg mixture nearly long enough. French toast is supposed to have a custard like texture inside, their's does not. Hoping that the biscuits and gravy would be better, I was very disappointed. The gravy was good, but you really needed it, because the biscuits were hard and dry. A restaurant that specializes in breakfast should be able to handle these simple breakfast staples. read more

I'm a huge fan of first watch. I've visited multiple locations and have yet to be disappointed. I always start with a Kale Tonic -- it's so delicious and fresh! I usually gravitate towards the pancakes or waffle but enjoy the eggs benedicts (I've tried them all -- florentine is my fave) the omelettes and skillets! Totally worth it for a relatively inexpensive breakfast that's great and filling. My only suggestion for someone coming to this location, be prepared to park across the street or at Whole Foods if you're coming on a busy time. The parking lot is packed and shared by Starbucks and potbelly and there is barely ever a spot to park! read more

It always surprises me that restaurants don't realize that the week in between Christmas and the New Year means increased business, hence, more staff (and more food!) is necessary. My mom, sister, and I went to lunch today. We waited for a table, waited for service, waited for our food, and then once we ordered, my mom was told (not once, but twice) that what she had ordered ran out so she needed to pick something else. My friends and I usually go out for brunch on the weekends and this was by far the worst experience we've had. My order was fine (they skimp on the eggs in the trifecta but I've been to other First Watches and they do that at every one so I'm used to it) but each one of my friend's orders was messed up. The potatoes were undercooked, and my friend's eggs benedict was hard-boiled instead of poached. She took it back and they came back 30 minutes later with a raw egg but no top bun or hollandaise sauce, which means they just scraped the old egg off and slapped a raw one on instead o just remaking the whole thing properly for her. It was so lazy. It also took 45 minutes after ordering for my other friend to get her side of millionaire's bacon. A waiter told us it would be comped, then we got the check (before the bacon) and saw we were being charged for it anyway. When we told another waiter, he said waiters can't actually say food will be comped, only the manager. At this point we were all annoyed and asked for the manager, something we NEVER do. The manager came out and apologized profusely and did comp the bacon, which eventually came overcooked and drenched in too much syrup. The manager was the only nice and competent worker. Then we go up to pay and say we need to pay separately, something we do at other FW locations, but the lady charged my friend the whole table anyway and threw a major fit when we told her we'd said to charge us separately. One of my friends emailed corporate. It has been a week and she has yet to hear back. FW does not care about customer service or quality of service. We wanted to try a smaller cafe/bistro type place while visiting Philly. It did not disappoint! Great coffee and pastries! If you want to avoid the typical franchises (i.e., Starbucks), definitely give this place a try. For those who like flavored coffee; sorry! They keep it original with pumps of hazelnut and French vanilla only. But Great coffee overall. Definitely a fan. Generally we like First Watch in Wynnewood, PA; food continued to be good, even today. Service, however was very poor. We shared this with the manager on duty who was kind and apologetic. As we saw our assigned server only rarely thereafter and a coterie of other servers seemed to care for us (whom we tipped for their care), the whole experience was frustrating and disappointing. Examples: we waited 5-minutes or more at critical moments: waiting to order coffee and water (cared for by another server, not our assigned one), when we received coffee we didn't have setting so no spoons, which we asked for and assigned server brought and nearly threw down on table, came back to take order and never introduced himself or said good morning just said "what would you like?" In a tone of exasperation and after saying "I'm sorry I was slammed with two big tables". [placed seemed understaffed for a breakfast restaurant in a Sunday morning]. We waited extraordinarily long for our meals and for coffee refills, which were finally served by other servers. After having shared experience with manager, assigned server left us check with no comment or apology, just telling us to pay at register. Two other concerns: glassware seemed clean but was very spotty and cloudy, seemingly not rinsed/sanitized well. Also, with direct view of kitchen and where they placed prepared entrees for servers to retrieve for table delivery, kitchen staff threw paper paper order printouts on top of the cooked food which was disgusting. read more

We drove out to Wynnewood for Sabrina's but were quoted a 75 minute wait time so our screaming baby requested we dine elsewhere. A quick Google search led us across the street to First Watch. After a 7 minute wait, we were ushered to our table. Our server, John, was perfectly kind/attentive/funny/helpful. Hubs ate the farmhouse scramble while I opted for The Works omelette. Both of which were fantastic and incredibly filling. Our one year enjoyed her French toast, sausage and fruit from the kids menu which doubled as a crayola work of art by the end of the meal. Updated review: Customer service reached out to me after my first review and gave me a gift card to come back to the location. Unfortunately, I came back today, and just won't be back. I came around 10:30am to find there was no parking. After driving around for about 15mins, I decided to call in my order - no big deal. I ordered avocado toast, potatoes, and bacon. They told me it would be 20mins. I found a parking space down the street and waited. When I came to pick up my order, the woman at the front gives it to me saying "it's right here". I give her the gift card to pay, and she scans it then says "your total is $18, we don't give change on these cards so you don't get it back". Thought that was strange but I said okay, thanks and left. When I got home, I discovered my bacon wasn't in my order. Clearly I paid for it with the total coming to $18, but it wasn't in the bag. I guess it's my fault for not checking before I left, but I guess I expect my order to be correct. Anyway, I feel bad because customer service did reach out to correct the issue, it just seems I have bad luck at this place. read more

I'm disappointed in the service here. It was a slow morning and not many diners. They took too long to seat me and finally sat me in a section with no other diners. I waited for a server to come by to bring water and take my order for coffee. No one came. The person that came in after me was seated in a bright sunny booth with the other diners and had coffee and water while I got nothing. Came in for brunch with a friend on Sunday trying this place for the first time. They were very busy which is a good sign. They asked if we would like to sit at their community table for faster service and we said sure! We were greeted by our server Brittany and we ordered coffee. It took a bit for me to decide what to order but I settled on the Trifecta. A multigrain pancake with eggs and bacon. After that she disappeared. We caught her and asked for water. 10 minutes later she drops a water carafe off and no glasses for it! Then she disappears again! 20 minutes later we got our food. ....still no glasses. We had to ask her again for them. The eggs were delicious, the bacon was too crispy and flavorless for me, and the multigrain pancake was decent. She never checked on us either. She was always no where to be found when we needed her. The place was good but the service needs lots of work. I'll give it another chance in the near future but right now ihop is looking better sevice and food wise. Pro tip: don't sit at the community table. They forget you there. read more

Unfortunately my husband and I had a terrible experience last Saturday with our meal. Many things went wrong. The only good thing about the entire meal was the coffee was decent. One, after asking if the ricotta lemon pancakes were sweet or tangy and getting a response from the waitress of no they weren't too sweet I ordered them. And the lemon curd would be on the side. There was no tangy lemon flavor that I was hoping for. Simply sugar. And the curd was dumped on top of the pancakes so no avoiding it. Two, my husband ordered two blueberry pancakes. What he got was one blueberry and one chocolate. They did take the one pancake off the bill and charged us for a single order. Three, we ordered the Million Dollar Bacon and it never arrived. They eventually removed it from the bill but I would have rather gotten it with the meal. Four, the top on the syrup container came off and it spilled over my hands and onto the food. After a difficult time getting anyone's attention finally someone looked our way and they replaced it. We had to ask for more napkins to wipe off sticky hands. Five, these are minor... the coffee was good but we had to ask for half and half as the small container of creamers didn't have any, we had to ask for silverware and napkins after our order came, and our order took forever to arrive even though they weren't close to full. We've been loyal First Watch customers since it opened, but it has really gone downhill. Today's visit was our last. Our menus and silverware were handed to us, our table was pointed out, and we were dismissed to seat ourselves. Despite ordering the simplest (most popular) items on the menu, our food took 55 minutes to arrive. And it was all wrong. If your menu is solely breakfast and lunch, you ought to know how to make eggs. Especially if you charge $11 for them. Our waiter was MIA: no update or apology about the long wait time, no offer to refill our drinks, and a quick insincere check after our food was finally delivered sent the message loud and clear that we were not important. Came here with a friend for breakfast around 1030 on a Friday. Service was outstanding. The iced coffee came with cream and sugar, so if you're picky about that, mention it. But it was so delicious. Jennifer is but an example of the entire staff at First Watch - who I have had the opportunity to see first hand - on a regular basis.
