My order was prepared fast and it was deelicious. I have recently discovered malt vinegar on Cod and it was amazing, I've been pulled over to the fish side again. My fish was fresh and hot. The batter was crunchy and surprisingly not that oily. It was served in a bed if batter pieces, my guess is to allow the oil to drip of the fish while you work on them, maybe not but I liked it. It wasn't over salted so I was able to taste the fish, the batter had a light season perhaps. I like it light just like it was done here, and my fries were the traditional fries that I am used too. I only wish they were cooked a little longer to crunch them up real good. Overall yes I would come back and recommend it to a friend. My sister was craving some fish and chips so she found H Salt on Yelp. It was pretty close to work so I decided to stop by and order some to go. H Salt is located near the post office on Lakewood and Florence. It's really easy to miss the first time so keep a lookout. When I walked in, I noticed how cheap the prices were . I got the 4 piece fish and chip combo while I got the 1/2 lb mini fired shrimp for myself. The guy behind the counter made sure I had the necessary condiments to go with our respective dishes. Note: the fries came out of a bag of frozen french fries. The fish and chips were probably the best I've ever had. So nice and crunchy. I really enjoyed my 1/2lb of shrimp. Delicious. So love this fish, or takes be back to being a kid. The fish is actually tasty, white fluffy and flaky. The oil it is deep fried in makes my mouth water long before I hit the front door. They use some type of cheap whitefish and try to pass it off as Cod. You can tell the difference. They give you two tiny containers of Tartar Sauce for an order of 4 pieces of fist, then charge you for extra. The mayo and pickle relish doesn't even taste like Tartar Sauce! When I asked for ketchup they didn't give me any with the order so I went back to ask again. They gave me four little pouches of ketchup. They fried had a freezer-burn taste... probably from being stored in their freezer for the past year during COVID. Bad customer service. Never a hello or a smile and CASH ONLY. I ordered a three piece fish and chips for around $7.00. The batter was crunchy, the fish was mild and cooked perfectly. The tarter sauce and vinegar were perfect with it. For an added treat, the owner put a piece of fried shrimp on top. It was a very nice surprise! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, and I will return. Fresh, delicious, crunchy, yummy, the best fish and chips ever! My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and we had the fish and chips and shrimp and chips plates. Oh my god. The fish and shrimp were so perfect, perfectly crunchy, not greesy, fishand shrimp.meat was moist and full of flavor. Fries were crunchy, we ate there. Soda was fresh and tasty nice and cold. Small. So small they don't have bathrooms but that's ok. The male owner has been there some time and is a friendly familiar face. The fish always have a great batter and chips aren't bad at all. Great when you eat there because they give you a full bottle of tarter sauce that is great. If you take it to go you get a very small tarter sauce, which isn't worth it. The coleslaw is good. Love this place! The owner is really real nice and down to earth. Fish always cooked perfectly. I always call when I'm around the corner to place my pick up order. Tonight I called 7:45pm (they close at 8pm) and was told no more phone orders were being taken. I told the person on the phone (didn't sound like the owner but I could be mistaken) I was just around the corner if they could please get my order started but no dice. Very disappointing. Excellent meal - I had the Seafood Combo, which is supposed to come only with fish, shrimp and scallops, but he always throws in some clams and calamari, too, making it a real "combo" dish. The food is always fried perfectly - completely cooked inside, but not over cooked until it is rubbery. My SO likes the food here too, but he can't digest deep fried food any more. I feel bad for him that he can't eat this! The same guy always serves us whenever we go there - I don't know if he is an employee or the owner - but he is always pleasant to deal with. And we have noticed that whenever there are no customers in the shop, he is cleaning the floors, tables, counters. The place is very clean. This place should have move reviews. Absolutely delicious, we got a 4 piece fish and chips came out to 23 bucks, at first the price seemed alittle too much. Then our food came out. It's not 4 pieces it was like 4 whole whale size pieces. So much food and soooooooo delicious! Will come back here for fish and chips more often and get the 2 piece.
