Grandma's has been a go to for me since moving to Cerritos and the fried chicken has always been fresh from the fryer and pretty solid IMO. But, lately the quality has been unacceptable. My last two orders of chicken have had way too many feathers on it for my liking. I mean downright unappetizing and you can't just pluck them off because they're all fried and intertwined in the batter. So I'll be letting them simmer on the back burner for a while and find me another place for chicken until hopefully they get their quality control issues together and start back serving featherless fried chicken. read more

Happy to have discovered Grandma's for the first time. Didn't know what broasting is...thought it was a combination of broiling and roasting...incorrect! Broasting is cooking in oil under pressure, like a pressure cooker. What results is an amazing fried chicken that tastes great, is super crunchy, but doesn't have all that grease dripping from it, somehow tasting cleaner. Don't snooze on the dark meat special. White meat is just too dry for us; the 6 legs, 6 thighs, and 8+ broasted potato wedges was perfect for our family of four. The fried zucchini was less exciting but tasty, nevertheless. I'm not sure what "broasted" means! But my overall impression is that this place makes some great food. Very different from a lot of other chicken restaurants, in a good way. This one doesn't offer seating, but there is a diverse menu offering things from catfish nuggets to combo meals to gizzards. I am planning to try their other items the next time I'm here! My family likes the dark meat special, which includes legs, thighs, and potato quarters. I say quarters because they're like massive potato wedges, as if a potato had literally been quartered and fried. And who doesn't like deep fried proteins and carbs? The chicken is so satisfying, I rarely eat just one piece. I don't know what kind of batter they use, and it's probably a trade secret, but it results in thin, cornflakey skin that's crunchy and fortunately not doughy-tasting. Everything is packaged in a box, and they usually provide a secondary box to soak up the grease and insulate from the piping hot goods. The staff are always so chill and accommodating, and they appear to know their stuff. What's nice is that you can call in your order and pay when you pick up. Just call 20-25 minutes ahead of when you want to get them. However, I do wish Grandma's Broasted Chicken were more consistent. I've gotten their fried chicken three times so far, and my first order had some of the best fried chicken ever. The other two times, their chicken tasted drier, seemed smaller, and looked more shriveled compared to my first order with them. That's 66% so far, but I'm willing to return if I'm in the area, in hopes of getting an amazingly crispified batch of mouthwateringly juicy chicken thighs. read more

This is one of those hole-in-the-wall places that you certainly wouldn't notice if you were to pass by it. It's located in the middle of a small plaza and since the restaurant's sign doesn't pop out, chances are you'd probably skip over it. It took around 15 minutes (or maybe slightly less) for them to make my food. The seasonings that they used were pretty good in my opinion. The only thing I have to say is some of the fries didn't have as much seasoning as some of the other fries but that's not a big deal at all. The food was fresh and extremely hot. So hot, that when he gave the food to me, he had to make a little slit so that way steam can escape so it can cool down a bit. The chicken was decent too. The roll was nice and soft, which is something that other chicken spots mess up sometimes. Overall, the food was pretty good. I would recommend you come here at least once. I do plan on coming back myself and I plan on trying the fish and if I do, I'll write a follow up review. read more
